The westgate travel club is a scam! They annoy you into attending their seminar while you are on vacation and promise you wonderful things for doing so. Then they trap you there and coerce you into buying this beautiful package they have. Then once your mind clears and you realize that you have been had and contact them within the alotted 3 business day cancellation period they allow then they lie and say you didn't contact them within the three day period and that therefore you cannot cancel your membership. We signed up on august 31, and sent them notarized info on sept 4 (3 business days because there was a federal holiday on one of those days) cancelling and they still refuse to cancel our membership. We want out! Any help in getting out would be appreciated.

I am also trying to cancel this scam. They never gave me a copy of the contract or advised me of my right to cancel. When i called them which was before the three days right to cancel, they told me Nevada has no cooling off period. I purchasd the vacation club in Las Vegas. Finally they emailed a copy of the contract about two weeks after the first request. The way i interpret the law, i have three days after signing or receipt of the contract, whichever comes last. So i sent them a letter telling them to cancel. I got a letter back saying it was too late. I gve contacted every legal organization possible to report this scam and i have a dispute with bill me later. At this time, i feel i have lost 4000.00 since there is no way i can purchase any of their vacations. The $4000.00 is owed to bill me later and i do not want my credit destroyed. These people are nothing more than high pressure scam artists. Can anyone help?

What we were promised would have been great for us, but the reality of what we are able to get is nothing like what was offered. You are effectively getting access to Interval International to rent the weeks they cannot get anyone to take in places where you probably have no desire to go. They only make the smallest and least attractive places available to you, i.e. studio units in the oldest buildings the resort owns. You will NEVER get the opportunity to get a place at the Westgate Miami Beach resort, for example, where we were told we would be able to use four consecutive weeks in the winter with no problems as part of the sales pitch. Basically, if you don't mind going to Las Vegas or Orlando, Florida every year and don't mind booking it at the last minute and don't mind staying in the oldest, smallest unit available and don't mind changing units if you are even able to book multiple weeks, then this will work for you just fine. Otherwise, it's a classic bait and switch undertaking. We'll eventually get our money's worth out of it (if we live long enough), but not without a lot of irritation & frustration. I'm hoping I can tell people not to do it when I next stay there!

One other thing - once you're in, just accept your fate and use it as much as you can to made it financially worthwhile. In order to beat them at their game and get your money back, you would spend more in legal fees than you spent buying into the "travel club", so fighting it legally is just useless from a financial point of view. I spoke with a lawyer about it and they estimated it would cost me a minimum of 10k to win and that it could easily be double that. My head is bowed in shame that I let them talk me into this. I just couldn't believe that a company would be as dishonest about their product as the Westgate group has proven to be.

I am from the UK and cannot believe that i fell for this while on holiday in Vegas last year. i was promised that i would have help to book anything i wanted and that it would work out a lot cheaper than booking myself. i have had a nightmare trying to use the different sites - i couldn't even get into passport for 11 months! they make you book the resorts and pay for them before they will help you to book flights, which means i am stuck, i cannot book the resort first and then deal with the price of flights after and i cannot book the flights first and deal with the resort not being available after. How do they expect anyone to use this system? being in the UK i asked on a pillion different occasions for someone to contact me via email to help me, and got nothing in return, until i emailed saying i wanted to cancel, then suddenly a letter appeared saying i did not have the right to cancel - so they were clearly receiving my eamils and choosing to ignore them, so i went back again and again, pointing out that i knew they were receiving them. i didn't get a response until i said that 'emails are used in business' worldwide how can you not use them, is there something that you do not want to put in writing to me for legal reasons' i then get a response, which still was not very helpful. Then i got a call from someone from the cruise and travel section saying that i need to pay an additional £2, 000 to renew my contract with them! This was not said at the time - are you kidding me! These people were from a UK place and had closed down my USA (.com) account and opened it in UK (.co.uk) without my knowledge or my permission. i can't get the USA to set it back up as the keep telling me that it 'must' always of been UK - i really enjoy being called a liar! Absolutely disgusted with their behaviour and can't believe that no one will help me and then ask for even more money! PLEASE DO NOT BUY ANYTHING OFF THEM, THEY WILL NOT HELP YOU TO GET ANYTHING OUT OF IT! AND WHEN YOU TRY YOU STILL HAVE TO PAY OVER THE ODDS!

I used to own with Westgate Resorts, the trick to getting out of the contract is to sell it to another person. I sold my ownership on EBay at a fair price. I was able to recoup 75% of my investment. Another thing I did when I was an owner with them is to deposit as soon as I paid my maintenance fees and place a request with Interval International. I was able to get into the Miami property and it wasn't as great as it was portrayed. I also watched a movie called "The Queen of Versailles" that is about the Westgate founders. It shows their son telling his employees to "lie" if they had to and close the sale. Well, as some may know, Planet Hollywood on the Vegas strip belonged to Westgate and they had to sell due to lack of funds. People have sued and won their cases. Just do your due diligence and find out all you can before signing on the dotted line. Good luck!

Same here me and my wife bought into the scam July 2015 however they told us we could cancel at any time that's what made it different that a timeshare. That was in the presentation. We also cannot cancel. I've spoke with countless others that have had there credit destroyed by this we need to work together and I feel we can beat this and take this scam down.

My wife and I signed up in Gatlinburg, TN. We rescinded according to the state law. We have now been repeatedly asking them to cancel our account since 2015. Every year we are reminded they failed to cancel.

They are now on my credit report and I can't refute the account because they won't cancel it.

Did you have a timeshare or the travel club? We were told we could cancel at any time as well... did you just stop paying on it and did it really hurt your credit bad?

Hello, we were also deceived on June 23 on a vacation we had, we wanted to cancel and we called within the 10 days that they give to cancel but they did not give me any results until the third time I called a woman told me that already I couldn't cancel because the 10 days had passed. I would like many people to be informed of what we can do to put an end to these scammers.
