The Lenovo Tab Plus is a decent suggestion to consider buying as it is great for streaming and listening to music, offers a big screen, and has good sound systems with inexpensive prices ranging from below $250 to $300. Another tablet that is worth mentioning is the Aldo Cube iPlay 50 Mini Pro but is recommended for people who have a good grasp on technology, otherwise, it is best to refrain from using it. One of the cheap alternatives however, that is good for minimal to moderate use is the ONN Tablets available at Walmart and stands roughly at $98. I would suggest the iPad 10th gen as it has good performance, extends support for OS for a long period of time, and prices have dropped to $300 or lower.
Lenovo Tab P12 for best large screen android tablet at around $300 (depending on accessories bundles and seem to be often on deep sales). I managed to snag one WITH the keyboard case and pen for only $350 (including taxes and shipping at the time). That same sale is running right now. It ended up being so useful for me as a deaf person since the mics on these was surprisingly a lot better than I expected, aiding the Google's Live Transcribe feature that allows me to stay involved in meetings and whatnot in real time :) One nice thing about this is that Best Buy also sells them so It was a great way for me to double check how I liked the form factor and the software before pulling the trigger (slowly losing vision so had to double check the accessibility features first). Ordered it online instead of via Best Buy for that accessories bundle sale.
Also something worth keeping an eye out for is clearance at stores. A store my buddy works at had a mega clearance sale for “old” iPads (M1) for more then 50% off and I showed up and got a 5th gen 12.9 inch iPad Pro for a little over $400 before tax. iPad Air M1s were sub $300 during the sale. Spec-wise, The m2 is a very incremental upgrade over the m1 and the m4 is only a little under a 50% improvement in power and you still get the 120 hz screen with this pro (also he told me that the same thing happens for Samsung tablets)
Just got a flawless condition Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ for $320 for my son for Christmas and I know he will love it.
12.4" 120hz OLED, four speakers, WiFi 6 and added 1tb SanDisk Extreme for $55
I got my mom a Xiaomi Pad 6 last year for around 300. It had a near-flagship spec and premium build. While Android skin is a matter of preference, these days, in terms of software, Xiaomi is on par with any major brand. I've also been using a smartphone from them for a few years now and have zero complaints (apart from personal UI neatpeks). I would suggest looking up their current models.
Heart sank as soon as I saw this content drop. Spent over a month trying to navigate the budget tablet space looking for something I could use for a home assistant display as well as media consumption before landing on my choice about 3 weeks ago. I usually have horrible buyer's remorse so I was pretty scared to click on this content lol
Feels so good to be somewhat validated here though. Picked up the Lenovo Tab Plus from Best Buy during their sale for $190 and have been loving it. The speakers really are dope, idk what it is but reading movies or listening to music in bed creates this weird illusion where it sounds like the tablet has surround sound without any headphones. Highly recommend it! The iPad does seem like a decent purchase too if you can get it for around the same price, although I was very close to buying the A9+ instead based on advice
In Europe Xiaomi offers nice tablet deals like the Redmi Pad Pro or the Pad 6 for around $280 and even Huawei is still present with its MatePad 11.5 for $300. And you can get the Lenovo Tab P12 for the same price here (in Germany).
Got a pixel tablet for $280 on Amazon the other day. Great experience for that under $300 budget
The original OnePlus Pad comes in at just $299.99, and it's a pretty sweet deal
I run a Lenovo P11 Gen 2 tablet. I love it to death. Super cheap ($250) and doesn't feel much slower, than my Google Pixel 7. I also bought a keyboard/case combo, so that I can use it as a laptop. It has "PC" mode, so that it feels like a computer.
With 6GB of ram, 4 speakers that makes any smartphone cry, a 2000x1200 resolution clear, glossy glass display, this tablet rocks. And this is an entry level tablet.
The reason for the price is, that I bought it, when the model was one year old. Normal MSRP price was around $450, when it came out.
Another good mention is the Honor Pad 9 which I bought for myself about a year ago, it has a 12.1" 2.5k 120hz display (TFT LCD), uses snapdragon 6 gen 1, 8gb ram, 256gb storage (unfortunately no option for expandable) uses a variant of android 13 called MagicOS 7.2 but upgrades to android 14 and a 8300mAh battery which costs around £213.99 - £219.99 in the UK.
I love my S6 Lite 2022 if the ram isn't a bit lacking. Comes with a pen I've never used and cases always carry it.. unnecessarily for me. But I've been using cheap tablets for a decade now for media and this is the best one I've had, hands down. Its two years old now and the battery is still kicking butt which is usually the first thing to go.
Base model ipads will always be my go to, and that's as someone who dislikes apple products. They last forever (my og ipad still works just can't be updated) and yes, base model ipads, even the newest gen are under $300(depending on timing) and if u do one gen older they are like 160-190
Tablets is the one area I generally give Apple the win on. I've had a few Android tablets, and have always used (and still use) an Android phone, but those Android tablets I've owned have universally all been complete and total crap. For my wife I got an 4th gen iPad Air four years ago, and I'll be honest that it's been solid this whole time. It as the same processor as the 10th gen featured in this content and I can say it runs everything perfectly fine even today.
The worst tablet I have ever owned goes to Amazon. No access to Google Play, and it barely functions it is so ridiculously slow. I have a Windows tablet with an Intel Atom processor running Windows 8 ... and it's exponentially more responsive (which is saying a lot). I would never, EVER, touch an Amazon tablet again.
My last tablet was the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7, from 2010. I got it on a deal with Sprint for $200. I LOVED that tablet. I used it for nearly everything. I was able to convince some of my teachers to let me use it for a couple of projects in school, too. At that time teachers were fighting hard against electronics in class, so I was happy they let me use it. My sister has a Samsung Tab S7 11 inch from a couple of years ago. She really likes it. She uses it for art stuff. I've played around with it and I think I wouldn't go much lower in price than this. It is the base mode, not the + model, but even so it performs fine.
how u missed xiaomi pad 6, in my country its priced a bit higher than a9+ and it destroys a9+ like anything, best value for money tablet of last year
I gave my mom the A9+, it was a third of the price of the 10th Gen Apple iPad here, and she got used to it pretty quickly.
I'm surprised you didn't look at the Pixel tablet. It can be found under $300 and should get years of updates.
I don't know why oneplus pad was not on that list... Right now they are selling it for 300 bucks on their own site plus a folio case.. and looking at the specs although it might not be a good as an iPad but mighty good recommendation for Android tablet
You didn't include the xaomi pad 6 wich in my opinion it's the best Android competitor at that price range
I'm surprised there is not even one Xiaomi tablet mentioned including sub brands (POCO, Redmi). I got Redmi Pad Pro for 224 euros with 6GB RAM, QHD resolution with 120Hz support, 12.1 inch screen, 4 good and loud speakers, 10 000Mah battery with 33w power adapter (that for my needs lasts for 7 days with every single day usage of tablet for 2-3h). 128GB of storage and not bad Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 CPU.
man u forgot (what i think is the best 200€-300€ tablet) the poco pad/xiaomi redmi pad pro (same thing), it has snapdragon 7s gen 2 and 12.1 inch ips screen with dolby vision (ik i sound like advertisement, but its really good option for this budget)
I'm sure that the S6 Lite (2024) is by far the best value, it's the cheapest model that supports the S Pen, it's got great speakers, micro SD, headphone jack, a nice screen and 4 years of updates for around $300 or less on sale. Very well recommended and I'm very happy with mine so far.
I got an Alldocube iplay 60 pro mini just last week. It has the same soc, but fixes the issues you have with the 50 pro mini. Dual speakers and a very nice IPS screen.
