Rotational movement is an integral element of functional fitness as a whole. These exercises, such as the ‘thread the needle’, are aimed at the thoracic spine shoulders and upper back and are said to enhance flexibility, relieve tension and improve rotational mobility. This is particularly effective in countering the tightness which result from having poor posture or doing the same motions repetitively without engaging in rotational movements within daily activities.
Great exercises for body stability.
I do all of these except thread the needle, I do a plank instead. Will add that one too. Thanks!
If you can do the squat + thread the needle, you are well on your way to doing a judo shoulder roll.
