My daughter enrolled for a 2 year massage school course in the late spring/early summer of 2009. She prepaid for the course in full for a total of $17, 997.00 using Section 529 funds. After attending classes for a few weeks, she decided that the course work was not as described and withdrew from the program. California law provides a refund formula less a small administrative fee to be paid within 30 days after withdrawal from an educational program. The World School owes my daughter a refund of approximately $17, 000. As of March 20, 2010, I have received exactly $350 in refund monies.
After my daughter withdrew from the school in the summer of 2009 and was unable to make any progress towards the refund with the owner, Patricia Cramer, I began corresponding with Ms. Cramer in October of 2009. It was difficult to get specific answers to questions from Ms. Cramer. In January of 2010, I hired an attorney to assist with the collection and have spent thousands of dollars in legal fees.
Ms. Cramer and The World School of Massage and Holistic Healing Arts is not compliant with California law. If you are intending to enroll at this school and there is any chance that you will require a refund, please rethink your decision to enroll.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
How are things coming along with your refund? What was not happening in the courses that your daughter expected from course descriptions? I was thinking about enrolling in the Energy and Somatic Healing program because of the emphasize on energy work that I have not found anywhere else.
