I graduated from wyotech on 12-19-08. I took the collision/refinishing program with chassis fab. I definately agree with everyone else...the recruiters don't have a f**king clue what the he// they are talking about. They are all paid to say everything they tell you. There job is to make wyotech look good. The program I went thru used I-car as there curriculum. What a f**king joke! You pay all that money ( about $9, 000 a class/3months) and don't get the I-car points or certifications after sitting through the class. It all costs extra. I just recently got a job and my employer paid for me to sit through an I-car class. It cost $85 and it was the exact same in every way that it was at wyotech...except this time I got the points. Now I find out that because I didn't purchase any of the cd's while I was at school, I am no longer eligible to get certs. 40 individual classes down the f**king drain. As far as I'm concerned I am I-car certified in 40 things because I paid to take the tests thru my tuition and passed them all. But NOOOOOOOOO. They gotta build up the hype and tell you what you wanna hear to get you there and then BAM...you all of a sudden paid 30g's for a 9month janitorial program. Oh yes...they have you doing sooooo much cleaning and bulls**t like that. They treat you like you are a f**king child.

I have soooooooo many issues with this school, I won't even try to explain my whole 9mnth experience with that place. It's a f**king joke. PLEASE take my advice...take your 30 grand that you are about to spend on this school and go buy yourself a descent computer with internet and all the tools and materials you need and just start building s**t. You'd be surprised how fast you can teach yourself something with a little bit of common sense and the internet. After it's all said and done you will own all those tools for future use instead of spending 30 grand for nothing.

Don't Go To Wyotech.

I posted for a career with W and discovered that the recruiters were very much interested in only enrolling students and not the integrity of its comapny & well-being of it's students... I thanked the sales manager for not hiring me... If you are looking for a reputable tech school, then Wyotech is not it. I wish everyone well.

WyoTech is 100% ###. Its a big waste of time and money. I didn't learn all that much for what I paid for. The instructors are lazy and, it seems as though they don't want to teach. My instructor ran underground Transmission repair business. He was always working on his Transmissions instead of teaching the students. The Diesel class I was in was 95% lab.How can you learn anything if you are always in the the lab.I had a few job interviews at the car dealerships and, they rejected me because I went to WYOTECH! He Said " I am going to put your resume on the bottom because, I have UTI students to interview first. we don"t hire Wyotech students" Don't go to this school!

Sorry you all went to the "lame" WyoTech. I went to the "cool" WyoTech and learned sooo much. I did not go through Chassis Fab though, so I have no valid opinion on that course. I took ASM and Diesel Core with Advanced Diesel. Shop time was about 37%, with the rest (63%) being class lecture. I am sorry that you had to attend class for 95% of the time there. That would get boring. Oh, and if you failed to learn anything during class lecture than you are already a very smart person, and I envy you. (it is kind'a cool though, isn't it, to ask the instructer a Q that he can't answer, then you go home and reseach till you find it and bring the answer to your instructer. You must have done alot of that). Your grades must have been exemplary at the course end. It is a shame that there are some companies out there that have only seen the grads from WyoTech that came to school and didn't give it 100% effort, that spent their time drinking and partying enstead of studing and expanding their KSA's (Knowledge, Skills, Ability). It does seem that there are a "click" of people that go through school there that have a negitive attitude and seem to carry it with them into the career field that makes employers look down on people like you and me that really care about this industry and are willing to work any way we can to improve it. Seriously, I wish you the best of luck in the future in securing a career in the industry that you love so much. And hopfully people like you and I can slowly show employies that most of us "Tecker" grads are awesome technicians that maintain a possitive outlook when things get challenging, and that we have a passion for this industry.

im attending wyotech in blairsville now and im half way thru refinishing. at first i liked it but im having more second thoughts every day. ive thought about it and ive spent easily 50 to 60 hours just cleaning the shop. i was suprised to hear that there was no real certification for sitting through these classes all day. its true that in the shop ive done just about everything i would need to do to pass icar tests but now that im a broke college student i cant spend the extra money to get certified. they want you to pay extra for certification even after youi sit in class for 8 hours a day listening to the instructor lecture at the podium. id like to stress that these instructors are technitions that most likely teach because they are sick of the job we're getting into. most know what they are talking about in the shop but have no idea how to teach a class. i just hope this pays off because right now it feels like im paying all this money to go to a full time job everyday without pay, all while living in this tiny dorm room where im treated like a child by the landlords. if you do decide to go to wyotech you need to find private housing.

I have 2 friends that attend the long beach wyotech in ca. and Ive visited them..they love it there. Its a beautiful building and the electrical and hvac classes seem awesome. maybe you all just sucked in high school and tried community college..then realized you couldn't handle the easy bs that's thrown at you... so while you were at home being a dead beat..you found a commercial between Jerry springer or judge Joe brown..that made you believe in your self and that you could do it! so you either begged your parents to co sign.. or tried your self being over 24.. knowing that you've never finished anything you've ever started..but you figure your older now and times have changed and for some reason you get the erge to just say ### it im gunna go there i can do it.. until you realize you actually have to try..meaning do the work and study..which most people don't do..which is why the majority of people don't succeed or wind up knocking up a fat girl and winding up with a combined income of 40gs.."if your lucky" but its ok.. you gotta understand that school isn't for everybody... even if its hands on.. understand that the general population"world wide" are ###s..if you'd like to have an example just go to the mall during Christmas or better yet hop on the freeway and observe traffic. so please understand its not the school its self its the individual. you might just be one of those ###s i am talking about. please do not take offense to this.. just know that there are career choices still available for you. thats how walmart and other chain company's and large business's stay afloat. anyways i truly hope you got something out of this.
the best of luck!

Just a few words from a mom of a Wyotech gradudate.

My son attended Wyotech in Laramie, Wyoming from October 2007 to October 2008. He is now employed as a diesel mechanic at a coal mine in Wyoming. He was hired during one of the job fairs that Wyotech holds for their students every 3 months. My son is 21 years old and made $72, 000 last year. He could not be any happier with his choice of a school or his job!

So, as you see, your educational experience is mostly what you make of it.

My husband as well as thousands of other have had horrible experiences with this school. More people have had bad experiences than good, which I think says a lot. I'm wondering if anyone has thought about a class action suit against the school for wasting everyones money. I honestly think it would be an amazing way to shut them down. They have stolen over 30 thousands dollars from my husband and I. We paid them with his initial school loan and then they took it upon themselves to take out loans in his name without our permission.. Has anyone else had this happened? We didn't know until we did a credit check and we saw the loans in the report.

I graduated from the electrical technology program in Long Beach. I truly feel it was the worst mistake of my life to attend that school. But it was my mistake for not doing any research and jumping into it. I worked hard got all A's and perfect attendance, even after I realized I was misled by the recruiter and you only get a worthless DIPLOMA!, and none of your credits transfer to a real college, and the majority of the teachers were terrible, lazy and indiferent, and I could go on and on. I can't get back the nine months or $19, 000 I invested, but I would like to advise everyone DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL you will regret it. I am now doing what I should have done in the first place and going to a real community college and transfering to CSULB next year. And my real education will be less expensive than Wyotech.

I was a recruiter at Wyotech. It's a good school, but Diesel is the way to go.
The wage is much better coming out of school, and you will have a trade
that can be applied in a wide cross section of industries.
Don't let the recruiters steer you into anything other than your dream program. If you want Diesel, then hold firm on that. Don't let them talk you into something else. What can happen is this. Diesel classes fill up quickly.
A Diesel core with Advanced Diesel is very hot right now. The classes can close, and then the recruiter might try to stick you in an Automotive class with Trim and Upolstery, or Street Rod. Some of those classes don't fill as quickly, and seats need to be filled. The recruiter is under substantial pressure to meet quota. Therefore, they might try to get you to enroll in a program that is open, just to keep thier numbers looking good. Regardless, stick to your guns and wait until the class opens again. Don't sign up just to satify a greedy recruiter. Seriously, most of the recruiters want to help. If they seem pushy, it's not their fault. Again, the management is riding them hard to gain the enrollment.

I attended Wyotech in Laramie, in 2004 to 2006 and took the automotive, ASM, Street rod and Custom Fab, and Chassis Fab classes. I agree that the auto basics class could get a little more brand specific and a little more in depth, but i did learn alot, especially in my elective classes. There is a "click" of people that attend this school that carry a very negative attitude and they do believe that sitting through class is a waste of time because they already have all the answers. This are usually the guys with [censor] grades and the ones that show up to class drunk. And all this complaining about having to clean the shop is kinda funny also, because alot of dealerships make their techs keep their stalls clean to keep a good image with their customers. Also I chose to clean the $30, 000 worth of tools I have, no one even has to ask me to, weird huh? I work for a reputable chevy dealer and make a pretty good living, and having Wyotech on my resume was a very big part of getting my job. Some people need to stop [censored]ing and start looking at life in a "glass is half full" kinda way. Its always easier to find something negative to say about someone or something.

I am currently attending Wyotech in Blairsville, PA and Its all [censor] and a waste of money. I am in the ASM class currently and going over to diesel next phase. The big issue I have with the school is there attendance policy which I wasn't told anything about like half the other bull [censor] my recruiter didn't tell me about. I was told back in march 2010, by a wyotech recruiter who came to my National Guard unit, that wyotech was military friendly and that the school would work with us when we had drill weekends, Annual Training, State Active duty, Federal Active Duty, SRPs, and other military duties arise. Well I got up here in late june and it is completely 180 dregrees from what that dumb [censor] [censor]ing recruiter was telling us. I got a letter from my unit to give to the school stating That I had a muta 6 drill weekend coming up this month(Oct 2010) for the range. I gave that to my ASM Coordinator and hes like well do you want out of it. I told him [censor] no I dont want out of it you [censor]ing idiot. They have this attendance policy that states you can not miss more than 25 hours per phase and a phase is 6 weeks. Well if I am called up for duty and these people start docking me hours because of military duty I am going to hit that 25 hours relatively quick and be suspended for 6 months due to attendance suspension. All the school cares about is making money by taking your money. they [censor] up your financial aid, youll live in this little [censor] town where theres nothing to do and everyone in that town hate "techers", theyll tell you that the advanced associates transfers (yeah to only one other school, University of pheniox), they treat you like a child rather than an adult, now theyre trying to double the size of the student body and fill classes to the brink, without building new facilities because they want your money. DONT BOTHER COMING TO THIS SCHOOL, IT IS A WASTE OF YOUR VALUABLE TIME, TAKE YOUR $30, 000 PLUS AND SPEND IT SOMEWHERE ELSE BECAUSE THIS SCHOOL WILL RIP YOU OFF.

i to went to wyotech; for their motorcycle technology program in daytona same thing the recruiter told me that i would get beable to get factory certs and dyno certified all to familliar a story only they failed me on the day i was supposed to graduate with more than passing grades . becuase they decided to enforce a new policy that takes a whole day away from me finishing what would have taken a couple of hours to have finished all of my tasks . however on that same day they allowed 5 or 6 other students finish their tasks so that they could pass and or graduate mean while they are telling my even after i went and talked to all the students and some teacher that where finishing their work to pass the staff proceeds to lie to my face that those students where not working on anything related to school work . and this is coming from kenny carter a lying sack of corprate waste who just happens to be the head of education. and also on this same day confronted the president of that wyotech campus about the situation and he told me he would look into it the next day.needless to say nothing happened . so i took the next twoo days off since they were starting me over with my time cooled offf a little bit went back to with draw, talk with kenny again and he talked me into staying for the rest of the day so i wouldnot time out . well the following day i could not shake my outrage at the situation. so i proceeded to withdrawl packed up and headed home a whole nother state away a poorer person with nothing to show not even one cert . well i proceed to send a complaint letter to the corperate office in california their responce to my complaint letter was an un itemized bill for 3000 dollars ? that was their responce to my complaint letter that i sent certified mail so they could not say that they did not receive my letter. and almost right after that they sent it to collections awsome they are a scam and anyone who has attended needs to get to gether and sue them for miss representation and falsely leading us the consummer into beleiving and not delivering that they are a top notch school of higher learning and taking grant money from us and the government . any way long winded but true ; go to mmi or itt tech any where but wyotech

Im currently attending wyotech in West Sacramento, CA... let me start by saying hahaha what a joke this place is, the instructors are paid to talk the talk but in all reality someone with decent tools can do a better job than them, for example (i have done body work most my life) i would mess up on small details to see if they would catch it or just pass the work on... turns out that they do not give a damn if you pass or fail, as all the work that i got passed i purposly messed up on and got a wow good job have you done this before? haha i dont know about the automotive program but as far as there collision program... im transfering out. i guess if you dont know a single thing about a car maybe its a good start for someone to learn how to do average body work... but if you wanted to excel and become the best... dont go to wyotech, as a matter of fact i have talked to a couple of local shops... they will not hire wyotech students or grads due to cocky [censor]s who think they know everything coming out of the school... look into it a little more wyotech is owned by corinthian colleges its about the money all that everyone is there for is there paycheck so if you pass or fail, wether or not you make it in the industry will not matter to them, because they are getting a paycheck.

Wow, I read these stories and wonder if there is a different school named Wyotech. I whent there in 2007-08 in West Sacramento. I graduated with a AS degree from the ASM program, and it is true that you cannot go to a UC with the credits, but everyone told me that all along the way. I also took Advanced Automotive Diagnostics and after I graduated I took and passed my SMOG license exam. The instructors are all SMOG techs and share real world experience every day. They had four SMOG machines and I think I did like 40 smogs in school. When I did my very first SMOG it was just like the instructors showed me. I have a great job and making $22.00 an hour now. If you follow the rules you get treated like an adult, The students that get treated like children are the one who act like children! I only had one time when I lost points and had perfect attendance. I enjoyed WyoTech. I am sorry you did not.

DO NOT GO TO WYOTECH PERIOD! the teachers dont even have teaching degrees, yea maybe they know thier [censor] but they have no way to get it across to us. The attendance policy is bull [censor] the uniforms are bull [censor], the coordinators and teachers are all [censor]. they litterally treat every one as if they are children. that includes the people in here that happen to be in their late twentys or older some even older that a couple of the instuctors. they do nothing to improve thier facility but they take your money no problem. ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS [censor] WYOTECH AND EVERY ONE IN IT!

I am currently attending Wyotech Daytona in their Marine program and i love it.I came in the program not knowing anything much about turning a wrench and the very first day we where in the lab taking apart a 3.0 l 4Cylinder inboard engine.I can see how alot of people have all of these negative reviews because i see it everyday.Sorry guys but its time to let go of Mommys !i!ies and grow up.I see guys like you that cant make it threw the program because they dont take it as serious as they should. They think that somebodys going to hold there hand and just give them a degree for showing up.Well let me say that im happy that you guys didnt make it threw the program and couldnt get jobs because that just gets rid of all the crappy techs that do graduate.Granted if your not serious about it and dont give it 120 percent than i suggest you do not enroll.Anyways like the guy before said any college or technical school is going to be what you make of it.You do not see everybody that goes to community college getting jobs on what they studied. So if its something that you think youre passionate about then do it, and let the experience speak for itself.

I am currently attending Wyotech in Laramie, I signed up for collision/refinishing technology and street rod custom fab and added trim and upholstery and chassis fab and I graduate dec. 21, 2010. I have 55, 000 dollars in loans plus interest. I have worked my [censor] off at this school to get everything I could out of it I have a 93 gpa and perfect attendance. The only cert. I have is for refridgerant recovery and recycling. WYOTECH IS A SCAM. I didnt learn nearly as much as I feel I should have for the price. I have been treated like crap by the school since I got here. The financial aid office calls me in on a weekly basis and wastes my time because they cant do their jobs. there was maybe 6 people at career fair hiring collision core students and hundreds of collison students that couldnt get interviews because there wasnt enough people hiring in that field at career fair so the job placement is [censor]. With the exception of 1 instructor(a trim and upholstery instructor by the name of Mac) all my instructors and coordinaters have done nothing but hold me back and cause me problems. The school keeps moving the instructors to different classes ex. one of the instructors I had in streetrod is now one of my chassis fab instructors and he knows nothing about chassis fab, so half the instructors at this school don't even know the curriculum. Most of the instructors are lazy and dont know how to teach, they have hired some students that just barely graduated to become instructors(which to me seems like them cutting corners by not hiring people that no the industry. I have wasted a lot of money for nothing. I had wanted to come here for several years and when I graduated high school I enrolled in Wyotech(BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE). The only thing I have against the attendance policy is that if you have to miss school for a legitament reason you can still get kicked out. The only problem I have with the dress code is the hair and facial hair rules, I dont get a lot of facial hair and I had a little stubble patch I missed while shaving and I got docked points and told not to come back to class until I shaved. The cleanup is understandable to a point but in an 8 hour day in the shop we spend about an hour and a half cleaning through out the day. Housing is the biggest scamat Wyotech half the kids that signed up to live in school housing are in cheap crappy hotel rooms because wyotech significantly overbooked(but they are still getting charged for the the housing they signed up for which is substantially more expensive. The school housing has several other problems like we have weekly roomchecks done by students that housing hires and gives keys to our apartment(sometimes stuff comes up missing). Over breaks they send in a cleaning crew(this is when A LOT of stuff comes up missing). Another problem I had with housing is before our break me and my roommates cleaned the whole apartment top to bottom, front to back spotless and they charged me for 2 hours of cleaning and when I got back they hadn't touched a thing except for my roommates 800 dollar earings that came up missing out of his nightstand and Wyotech refuses to cover them even though it was the people they hired and gave keys to that stole them. That is only a few of my complaints on Wyotech, I could be here for a week talking about all the [censor] and problems this school has put me through. WYOTECH IS A MONEY HUNGRY CORPORATE MACHINE. There are a lot of automotive schools my advice is when you decide on a school(hopefully for your sake not Wyotech) really look into it and know what you are getting into and not just what the school says.

instead of going to wyotech just take your 30 grand a burn it, then bang your head up against a wall for 3 hours! you'll still have a headache and be out 3o grand but aleast you wouldnt of wasted 9 months of youe life, when you come here to wyotech [censor] 110% of effort, you have to put in 500% because the teachers dont give a [censor] about you, all they want is a paycheck. although school is what you make of it, this place is hard to make something of, at fist it was great and i got good grades, then 2nd phase rolled around and they move me to the back of the class so the [censor] ups can sit up front and sleep all day. its a bunch of bull [censor]! when you come here if your not a brown noser the teacher wont like you. the teachers may now all about what they are to be teaching but they dont really know how to teach, plus my [censored] wyotech guide wouldnt get back to me and i lost a $1, 000 scholarship! and the guides and reps dont know [censor] about this place. i'm sitting in a class with 60 other kids that say there rep lied to them.

Wyotech is a good school. But the [censor] you have to go through to get it done is stupid. i hope when i get out of here that this place on a resume will help me get started with a CAREER, not a job. The teachers do show fovoritism to student. I am in ASM currently and i have two days left in it. If you dont want to happen to get a chance of not being the teeachers pet and have to kiss [censor] for three months, dont do ASM. And i noticed that my recruiter Mr. Payne was incorrect in some of the things he told me before i came out here. I could sit here and slander him but he have ever been to the laramie campus before. So the school is what needs to be fixed. You need certified teachers so we can e certified also when we leave. that would look alot better on a resume you think. we also need better housing. yeah they have some good ones but what happens if you dont get a good one, they stick you in a studio appartment thats maybe 18x12 with another student also with no oven and a half a kitchen, with some rinkady [censor] bunk beds that are finger tight bults. Also The courses run fast and dont really teach you [censor]. Your core might be a little better but i wouldnt knwo yet, ill post another after that. WyoTech needs to get better staff and better atendeance policies.

I went to WyoTech Jan 2005-Sep 2005 at Laramie, WY. I did their Automotive Course with ASM. While attending WyoTech, I earned A's and had near perfect attendance (I missed the last two hours on a Friday due to a high fever/flu). After graduating from WyoTech, I was a proud young man who had a degree and was going places (in my mind anyway). Turns out, reality hit me like a ton of bricks and I soon realized exactly what I had purchased for $30, 000. I was told I was going to get an "Associate's Degree" by a recruiter. WRONG. I instead, received an "Associate Degree". Apparently, that last "s" makes ALL the difference. My credit won't transfer to regionally accredited colleges (except U of Phoenix, but is that a real school anyway?) and serious dealerships look for that special "s" in your Associate's Degree before they fill a position requiring an Associate's Degree holder.

During a job fair after graduation, the only employers who attended (and there weren't that many) were only offering $8.50/hr jobs as lube techs. Any dumb monkey with a GED can do this job. As time went on, I continued looking for employment and got the same results. Nobody reputable hires from WyoTech. They hire the techs coming out of regionally accredited community colleges who've earned REAL degrees, not the toilet paper WyoTech degree (there's that "s" again!). My only option after graduation was to join the military just so I could pay off that ridiculous $30, 000 tuition expense. So now, I'm looking on going back to school to earn a REAL degree using the Army's GI Bill so I can make some REAL money. However, I'm still having a hard time finding a job, even with WyoTech on my resume.

By the way, UTI is no different. People, if you want a real education, go to a regionally accredited not-for-profit public or private school and stay away from for-profit institutions. They only tell you great stories until you give them your money, then they abandon you and you're left to face the "s".

I am a student at Wyotech West Sacramento location. I am in the electrical program. The school suck. All they want to do is pass you so you can continue to enrol so they can make money off your tuition. The instructors have the field experience but not the knowledge they suppose to teach you. They can show you how to wired two wires together with a wirenut but they have no [censor]ing clue how electricity works. If they like you then you're okay, they will give you good grades, if they don't like you no matter what you do, they find ways to take points off of you. If you go to the coordinators and complain WALLY, he will threaten to take points off the whole class. Don't [censor]ing come to this school they have good program but the coordinator and the instructor suck balls.

[censor] Wyotech West Sacramento. [censor]ing instructors don't know [censor] about theory and whatever they suppose to teach. They know how to teach you how to wire two wires with a wirenut together but they don't know how [censor]ing electricity work. I am a student at West Sacramento, Wyotech in the Electrical program. Wally Masters the coordinator is bias and will take points off your grade if you complain about an instructors so no point of going to him. If you want to dispute anything go straight to Washing D.C. since it's aVeterans Affair thing because this is a private post secondary school. I already filed a complaint. But what i really need is a lawyer to get my [censor]ing $20K back from [censor] I didn't learn. If they like you you will get 100% every module but if they hate yo [censor] no matter how hard you try they will take points off of you... [censor] [censor] school all they want to do is make money.. they'll pass you just to get your tuition money...

Electrical Program at West Sacramento Wyotech breaks down into 9 modules. mod 1 teaches you the math and science behind electricity, my [censor]ing teacher dont' [censor]ing know how do basic math like multiply and divide fractions. I remember we have open lab and I was wiring stuff up. These [censor]ing instructors don't even check our [censor] to see if we wired it wrong or not. Anyone can wire [censor] up but I want to wire it correctly, thats what I feel I paid these guys to do, to teach me the correct way. They just go go head turn on power BAMMMM no wonder they're not trippen the school is filled with fuses... Still today I don't [censor]ig know how to bend conduit or wiring up a GFCI receptacles, so don't even ask me wtf the code book says. Go ask them instructors see if they know? Bull [censor] as school that picks on you daily if they don't like you, if they like you they'll let you do all the projects... THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY,

Most of you that are posting these negative comments towards wyotech realize that a standard university will do the same thing? If you miss too many hours of class time you will get kicked out no matter what the reason. If you dont pay attention in class yes you will fail they do go over alot of material very quickly. Im currently enrolled in ASM, Streed Rod, High Performance Powertrains, and Automotive Core classes in Blairsville and I have loved every minute Wyotech is 100% what you make out of it and if a employer flat out states that they will not hire you for going to wyotech that is discrimination against you and if you really want a job in the field dont sit on your [censor] waiting for someone to call you. You need to physically go to the shops and ask to speak to a manager about a possible position its not that hard. Wyotech is not a bad school at all and yes the negative attitude with alot of students is here and unfortunetly its a majority of the class. The teachers not caring, some do and some dont, but if you go to a normal university the classes are twice sometimes 3 times as big depending on the school and the professor could give a [censor] less about every student, they dont have time to. Its the same as wyotech they have to move on with the curriculum simply because it is so fast paced. Get it through your skull and to those of you who think it is not a normal college it is definately and you will have to work hard for what you want.

I have been to other colleges before attending Wyotech and I have to say Wyotech's program itself is not bad. The way they design the program is not bad, I am complaining about how the school is running it like a business and not an institution that actually will fail a student who actually never makes it. For example if you fail a quiz or a test, usually you get that score, here they just let you retake the dam thing or intentionally change grades to pass you so they can make more tuition. On top of that 1 out of 10 instructors are actually acting professionals but the rest of them are just [censor]. They have no education, foul language all the time, talks on the cell phone while teaching, they can teach you the hands on part but they don't know the bookwork part themselves because they never actually went to school themselves. The qualifications to be an instructor there is only if they have at least 10 years of field experience and carry a licenese but not any teaching credentials or any schooling background. The school is a [censor]ing money eating machine. I would not sugguest going here unless your G.I. Bill is paying for it.

My spouse and I were both enrolled in the motorcycle program at Wyotech in Daytona. Wyotech has it's pro's.. but they certainly do not out weigh the con's. I would like to first say that we both learned a whole lot during our time at Wyotech. However, neither of us had any previous mechanical knowledge. What we learned at Wyotech was very basic. Coming from a background with absolutely no mechanical knowledge, we both maintained a gpa of 4.0.. with a 98% average. I feel that wee have just began to brush the surface of mechanics. $30k each later (that's $60k!) I have not heard once from career services, I have been in to see them on a few occasions and although there were people stuffed in random cubicles none of them so much as smiled at me, or even looked my way let alone asked me (the 30K paying customer) if they could be of assistance. The attendance policy is ridiculous. We came to Wyotech with lives already in the works, we are not children and those of us who are still pay the same $30k and therefore should be treated as customers. Some of us have children of our own, and bills, and life to take care of. It is impossible to manage the rest of our lives while we are expected to be at school from 7am to 4:15pm every weekday. Nothing opens before 7 and if you have ever been to the Daytona campus you know that you will not be leaving the parking lot until at least 5 with the traffic cluster (whose dumb idea was that.. ?) Most things close at 5. We are repeatedly told that the key to success at Wyotech is attendance.. attendance.. attendance.. I have been told that my grades (98% in every class) will make little difference to employers because my attendance is shot. Reasons I missed: 1. Had to enroll my children in school and drive them in their first day (it's the rule for students coming in mid year) 2. Received a call from child's school.. child is puking and must be picked up immediately 3. Children need physicals to enroll in school.. 2 different appts.. Doc cannot see all children on same day. Etc Etc. How can I keep good attendance and still not go to jail for neglecting my children! Then to boot I am treated like a child and an idiot by every admin and 1/2 the teachers.. and some of the admins are young girls nearly the age that spend the night with mine on weekends. I am no fool, I am not an idiot nor am I a [censor] (or an [censor] like you Mr. Shriver) I know the value of a dollar.. and Wyotech is not at all worth 30 thousand of them.. maybe if tuition were closer to ten grand.. then you'd be getting what you paid for. I DO NOT RECCOMMEND PAYING $30k TO ATTEND WYOTECH.

The Class and Lecture time is 50/50 .How could you not learn?! People need to gear up and take some responsibility. WyoTech as a life long Career Service department, how could you not get a job? Put some effort into it. Call them and keep in contact. Use what you paid for?!Its hard for everyone to get a career these days and you just got to bust your butt like everyone else. People get lazy and think everything is going to be handed to them. I know people who graduated from the university and can’t get hired to save their life! It’s what you make of it people! Ugh… people bug me. If you have a real question about the school, I can get you a real answer. JUST ASK ME!Not these people who half [censor] and expect to be hired on to Kenworth .

I'm wondering what sort of grades all you complainers got at Wyotech? I have found that the ones that do the most complaining are the ones that do not do anything to help them get ahead. Or they read a bunch of BS on the internet and decide yeah, its a bad school. Which is stupid to me. The internet is full of BS now days. I studied auto tech and advanced diagnostics. My Wyotech recruiter was amazing, I adore her. I am glad I sat down with someone. We went over everything. There was lots of stuff that I didn't realize about the school that was not on the website. You should know too..EVERY CAMPUS IS DIFFERENT! I heard stuff about California so I went to Laramie because that was the first campus. And I loved it there... my rep stayed in touch and If she didn't know something, she would find someone who did. She even called an instructor when we met together the first time because she didn't know an answer to a question I had. Everyone at Wyotech really wants to help you, but you have to show that you are serious. I graduated last year and I am working at a dealership making good money right now. I agree with the other person who said having Wyotech on their resume made a difference. It did for me too. My employer was very familiar with Wyotech and their reputation in the trans maintenance industry. Its really good. Paying back my loans aren't killing me either... Hell, I had a car payment before I went to Wyotech and that wasn't making me any money... my cert is. So all you bad commenters, I feel sorry you didn't get more from it. I know I can go back to study again for free if my program knowledge gets limited, and I will in a heartbeat.

I was an Instructor at the Fremont Location, and it was a nightmare trying to teach, FIrst the ad reps would enroll anyone, Pedophiles, Felons, Drug Dealers, people I could never get a job in the trades, (trades background checks before they send employees to house's ), but they would leave that out, and then I would catch ### for telling a young felon it would be hard to place them. The are MONEY PITS, and DIPLOMA MILLS, I'm not some pissed off, fired employee, after 5 years of beating my head against the wall, fighting Corporate office, School Staff, and Students, I gave up. Most of the Instructors have issues with drugs and alcohol, They work you do death, and have any warm body teach a class because the teachers had worse attendance issues then the students, so you might get the Sheet Metal teacher, teaching transmissions, or the Engines Class Back up instructor leading the Electricians Course.
I would suggest you go to a UNIVERSITY, not a trade school or any kind of For Profit school, I taught at 3 different types of colleges with Corinthian Colleges, and they are all the same, they want your money, they want you to grad out, and they want you to disappear. Most are unhappy, Most won't complain because they feel it will fall on Deaf ears, which it will. Put these schools out of business by NOT ATTENDING THEM. Yes it takes 4 years to get a REAL university degree, but you won't get laughed at, and you will be taken seriously in the Business world, these schools are laughed at and frowned upon.
If you feel ripped off, then contact your congressman, if enough of you file written complaints with they will have a gov official look into them!
Good luck!

I am currently attending the diesel course at the Laramie WY campus and supposed to graduate the 24th of this month, and have had nothing but problems from the get go.
[censored] #1- Months before I started the program in September of 2010 I sent in my housing contract and housing deposit ($150). After coming to Wyotech I found out that they had received my deposit but not my contract although I had sent the two together in the same envelope. I was livid but didn’t get anywhere with management. They basically told me I was screwed and didn’t have a place to live. I found a place to live no thanks to them.

[censored] #2- I had initially applied for diesel core and advanced diesel as my elective. My rep told me he couldn’t get me into advanced because it was backed up for over a year. I said ok, it is what it is oh well so I picked a different elective. When I arrived to Wyotech I soon found out there was 15 people in the advanced class while there was over 60 people in the elective I ended up in. Wow I thought, these people are really on top of their game (not).

[censored] #3- Wyotech is supposedly all about professionalism but is not enforced. The truth of the matter is idiot kids with nowhere else to go is wyotechs bread and butter. That’s what they thrive on, so they accommodate these idiots, meanwhile the students that are looking to actually learn something about the profession get screwed over and don’t learn what I think they should learn.

[censored] #4- About a month ago I got called into the financial aid office to learn that I owed wyotech over $700 dollars. I didn’t understand why and never got a solid answer why no matter who I talked to and how hard I tried to get to the bottom of it. Still not understanding why I owed this money they threatened to kick me out, so I paid the money to stay in. I’m not exactly made of money and I had a very hard time scraping the money together but I made it happen.

[censored] #5- After being told I owe this money and paying it a month ago I find out that I supposedly owe these crooks over $1300! I am once again absolutely livid! I once again cannot get an answer as to why I owe this money to these crooks. I absolutely refuse to pay this money and if they threaten to not let me graduate that’s ok with me. They can kiss my @$$. I don’t care anymore.

My son attended in Sacramento, CA. He graduated in Dec of 2010. Once out he received a bill for the financing and his payments are $495.00 a month. How do they expect him to pay that amount of money when he is working in an entry level position. When we first signed him up for the school we were told that his payments would not exceed $75.00 - $100.00. He took Lt. Duty Diesel, Smog and ASM. He graduated with student achievement awards. however, Wyotech is holding his certificates and his diploma hostage. The staff is completely rude and abusive. I have spoken to several of them thus far to get the items released to no avail. They have his certificates, dipoloma, tool deposit and housing deposit. This school is absolutely ridicules. I am seeking an attorney to get this resolved.
