I would give YA zero stars if it was an option
I would give YA zero stars if it was an option. They are the worst company I have ever dealt with. Their customer service is terrible and they never respond to emails or phone calls. I had so many problems with my apartment and they never fixed anything. The maintenance team is lazy and never shows up when they say they will. The rent is way too high for the poor quality of the apartments. I would not recommend renting from Young America Realty, Inc.
by maintenance
by maintenance. The communication within the company is a mess.
Furthermore, the maintenance response time is extremely slow. It takes forever for them to fix anything, and even then, they often do a half-hearted job. I've had multiple issues with plumbing and it always takes ages for them to come and fix it properly.
The leasing process was also a nightmare. They were unorganized and seemed to have no idea what they were doing. It took weeks for them to process my application and even then, they made mistakes with the paperwork. It was a frustrating experience from start to finish.
On top of all that, the rent is way too high for the quality of the apartments. The units are outdated and in desperate need of renovation. The walls are thin, and you can hear everything your neighbors are doing. It's not a pleasant living environment at all.
Overall, I would not recommend Young America Realty, Inc. They have been unhelpful, unresponsive, and unprofessional. Save yourself the headache and find a different rental company.
Thieves, liars, and the most abhorrent level of professionalism I've experienced in my 29 years of living
Thieves, liars, and the most abhorrent level of professionalism I've experienced in my 29 years of living. Stephanie Coulter and Danielle Cox are just a couple of the people that are not only unqualified, but unfit for their positions at this company. Stephanie Coulter threatened to charge me for damages to the building with no evidence or pre-tense then had the nerve to tell me "this is not a customer service call" when I called her on her unprofessionalism and disgusting behavior. I am a customer and you provide the service or realty, this is the level of intelligence at this company. Danielle Cox threatened to incur further charges, (on top of the unprecedented charges they are attempting to steal from me) for not responding to an email, which I had responded to three times. Stay away from this place, especially if you're anything other than Caucasian.
This company, Young America Realty, Inc
This company, Young America Realty, Inc., has a lot of tenants and a big share of the student apartment market. But they don't treat their student tenants with respect or professionalism. It's really hard to get in touch with them if you have any issues as a tenant, like charges on your account. I would call for days just to ask about a service charge on my account, and it took weeks to get a detailed receipt for the work that was done. Leaving a voicemail is pointless because they never call you back. And if you do manage to talk to someone in the accounts department, they are rude, disrespectful, and not helpful at all. This company will charge you extra for anything they can and take most of your security deposit when you move out. The apartments are not clean or damage-free when you move in, even though they say they are. But they still expect you to pay for them to be in good condition for the next tenants. The student apartment market at ISU is controlled by a few companies, and Young America has no problem taking advantage of that.
My review ain't good, unfortunately
My review ain't good, unfortunately. I'm havin' issues with the neighbors livin' above me. I've tried real hard to get help from the buildin' manager and the director of residential housin'. Nothin' has been done 'bout the harassment I've endured from these tenants for the past year. They've stolen my mail and broken into the shed of my unit. They keep me awake at night by stompin' on the floor and leavin' their car headlights on, shinin' through my windows. I've sent videos and pictures to the buildin' manager, but nothin' has changed. They said they'll talk to them and look into it, but nothin' happened. They've made my life miserable in the one place where I should find peace. The harassment keeps gettin' worse over time. When my family came to visit, they were cursed at and threatened by these neighbors. I don't think Young America Realty cares 'bout the safety of their tenants. I'm a single black woman who needs help, but I can't seem to get it. I'm talkin' 'bout B apartments.
I could write a novel on all the garbige this company put us through when we were actually living there
I could write a novel on all the garbige this company put us through when we were actually living there. We thought we could finally be done with them when we handed in our keys almost a year ago. But nope — apparently they put a charge on our account for hundreds of dollars and never bothered to notify us. The only reason we know about it now is because we are applying for apartments for this fall and this “delinquent charge” that we never knew about is showing up on our credit reports, preventing us from being approved for housing. YA has been taking their sweet time responding to our inquiries about the nature of the charge, which is hardly surprising considering they didn’t think it was important to tell us about it in the first place. We tried accessing our tenant portal to figure it out and everything has been conveniently erased. If we weren’t under quarantine right now I would be in their office every day until they answered our questions, but they are taking full advantage of the pandemic and using it to be just as negligent and unresponsive as ever. YA does this garbage on purpose because they know it’s easier for their typical clientele to just pay the discrepancy rather than get a lawyer. We need to find housing now, we can’t wait the months that it would take to fight this. They know this and they take full advantage of it. They exist for the sole purpose of exploiting students and squeezing them for every dime they can get away with. I pray for the day when a tenants rights union finally sets up shop in BloNo and takes this company down.
I've been having a lot of problems with Young America lately
I've been having a lot of problems with Young America lately. Right from the start of my lease, there were signs of trouble. When I moved into my apartment, there were dead flies everywhere and the apartment hadn't been cleaned at all. They had claimed that all apartments are cleaned before you move in, but that wasn't the case. There were also broken appliances in the apartment. I reached out to them to complain about the state of the apartment, but they never responded or reached out to me. The majority of the problems started when I started seeing roaches inside my apartment. I called them to report the bugs and asked for extermination. They said they have someone come once a month to spray bugs, but there was nothing more they could do. My roommate and I were told that "the spray is not meant to keep them out but meant to kill them once they are already in." After that, we started getting charged for utilities that weren't ours. Only when we complained and told them that we had stopped receiving utility reports but were still being charged, did they show us the reports. They had told us that our utility usage was included in our rent, but we were still being charged extra. On top of all this, a month after we moved out, we got charged for utilities again. We paid, assuming it was for the month of May. However, now almost three months after we moved out, I received a threatening email from them about more charges. When I tried to call about the charges, I was sent to voicemail, even though I called during their business hours. I've since sent emails, but haven't received any response or automated replies. I've already moved to a different company to rent from for my last semester, and I wish I had listened to all the warnings I received about Young America in the first place. If zero stars were an option, that's what I would give them because, in my opinion, they don't even deserve one star.

I had a problem with Young America Realty, Inc
I had a problem with Young America Realty, Inc. when it came to my water bill. There was a mistake in the address, and they didn't include the meter readings before and after. They only provided the usage, which made it difficult for me to understand the charges.
Another issue I had was with their statement about in-person classes at Illinois State University for the Fall '20 term. It was misleading and didn't provide accurate information.
Overall, I was disappointed with Young America Realty, Inc. because of these discrepancies and misleading statements.
There was some confushion on a billing issue, wich caused an unpaind balance on our acount
There was some confushion on a billing issue, wich caused an unpaind balance on our acount. Young America then proceeded to charge a late fee of 10%/month or an APR of over 200%. The late fees are more than the outstanding balance and they refuse to waive the late fees even though they caused the confushion on the bill. We are requesting a refund of the late fees.
I go to Illinois State University and I'm having trouble with my water bill from last semester
I go to Illinois State University and I'm having trouble with my water bill from last semester. Young America Realty, Inc. is the company that's causing me problems. They kept my security deposit and won't give me a detailed bill for the water charges. I've been trying to sort this out through email, but the girl I'm talking to just wants to close the case. I even left two voicemails, but no one has gotten back to me. *** is the person I'm supposed to contact for utility questions.

This realty company has charged my old roommates and me around $1200 for "drywall repair" after we moved out
This realty company has charged my old roommates and me around $1200 for "drywall repair" after we moved out. It seemed crazy, 'cause we didn't see any wall damage (let alone $1200 worth). I've been trying to reach out to them, but they've been ignoring all my calls and emails for about a week now. I'm gonna file a complaint 'cause we've had similar problems before with them ignoring us and adding weird charges.
My situation right now is that because of the COVID-19 pandemic, I don't have a job
My situation right now is that because of the COVID-19 pandemic, I don't have a job. I'm a college student and I don't have any money coming in. This is my last month living in Lodge Two through Young America Realty, and I haven't been able to pay my rent on time. They've already sent me to collections and I've also been charged a late fee, which was due on the first. I feel like I'm being treated unfairly because it's not that I don't want to pay, I just need until the end of the month.

I keep gettin these letters from a law firm suin me and the company suin me is this company “Young America Realty” the part that is confusin is that I have never heard of this company nor have I ever rented an apartment from them especially not two hours away from where I actually lived 24 years! Not even a student! I have called and emailed and yet to have clarification and before I even forget the paper has my name and last name with a middle name “r” that I don’t even have. I don’t have a middle name at all! Too me this just seems like a scam!
I wanna complain 'bout Young America Realty 'cause they charged us for plumbing work in the first 5 months of livin' in the place
I wanna complain 'bout Young America Realty 'cause they charged us for plumbing work in the first 5 months of livin' in the place. But since then, we ain't had no problems with our plumbing. Seems like the issue was there before we even moved in 'cause we had maintenance come in the first 2 months to fix a clog in our sink. I tried reachin' out to customer service, but they ain't willin' to help and ain't respondin'. It's real frustratin' 'cause we're just renters and now they're threatenin' to kick us out if we don't pay the fee. It'd be great if y'all could help us out 'cause findin' help with housin' problems is real tough.
I'm writing this review as a co-signor for my two adult children, who are university students.
I'm writing this review as a co-signor (parent) for my two adult children, who are university students. Recently, we received a notice from the realty company indicating we were behind on payments. Upon reviewing the lease, I found a discrepancy. They were charging us for rent outside the agreed lease period. For instance, the lease runs from May 8, to May 7, 2022, yet we were billed $620 for April , before the lease commenced. Additionally, they charged the full amount for May, despite the lease starting on May 8. Furthermore, they imposed late fees, despite the delay resulting from their incorrect billing. Attempts to contact the company's payment department for clarification have been unsuccessful, with no response to messages left. We need assistance to resolve this issue.
My son rented an apartment through Young America Realty for his [protected] school year as a student at Illinois State University in Normal, IL
My son rented an apartment through Young America Realty for his [protected] school year as a student at Illinois State University in Normal, IL. I signed the lease as well as the person paying the rent. He was one of four students living in the apartment. In March , when the COVID-19 crisis started, ISU shut down and went to on-line classes. My son, and all of the students in his apartment unit, went home because of safety concerns with the virus. The monthly rent for my son was paid in advance. In May, I received a notice from Young America stating that my son went over in his utility bills by $99.00. Since no one had lived there since March, I couldn't understand how they went over so I called Young America and asked them to call me back. I called several times and never received a response. My son then talked to another resident of the apartment who gave him an email address for a service employee of Young America. I emailed and he responded and said each person in the apartment (4 total) owed $99.00 for the utility overage. So they went over by $396.00 with no one living there? I decided to just pay the $99.00 so I could get the security deposit back. My son did move out by the date told to him by Young America. He cleaned the apartment (vacuumed, cleaned out the fridge and appliances, wiped everything down, etc) and turned in all necessary keys, etc. I never received the security deposit. On or about July 7, I received another email from Young America titled "FINAL NOTICE". It said we owed $214.00 more. I had not received an email before this about $214 so I'm not sure why it said FINAL NOTICE. It also did not say why we owed $214. So I called the number on the email and left several messages. No one ever called back. I then emailed them. They said he owed the $214 for carpet damage and for not cleaning when he moved out. Also attached were pictures of the living room carpet with a black light shining on it showing stains under the black light. The spots apparently cannot be seen by the naked eye. I asked my son if he was shown the carpet under a black light when he moved in to show it didn't have stains and he said they did not. We have no idea how long those stains were on the dark brown carpet -they could have been there for years and now they are charging us. Also, there's no way to tell if the pictures are from his apartment. I then emailed again several times and asked for a supervisor to call me back. Again, no call. Yesterday I received a pink notice in the mail stating that if I did not pay the $214.10, they would send it to a collection agency or to an attorney for judgement.
