1-800-PetMeds Terrible and Incompetent

Petmeds is the WORST company I've ever dealt with! Stay away at all costs! I ordered flea medications over a MONTH ago and finally canceled the order because they kept screwing everything up. I had to get "vet approval"...I did...had to resubmit my order...I did...had to get our vet to resubmit their approval...I did and they did...I have the RX number, the confirmation number, the prescription approval AND a freaking screenshot of the approved order and they can't find it. No one will talk to each other and they keep bouncing/running me around in a circle until I'm too exhausted to deal with it. I canceled the order and will NEVER deal with them again. Plus I will scream from the mountain tops about how terrible their company & service are. Stay away!

Recommendation: STAY AWAY

1-800-PetMeds Quick communication and rush order

I am a returning customer who buys mostly insulin supplies for my cat Blink. I recently misjudged how much insulin I had left and had to re-order in a hurry so Blink wouldn't have to miss a shot. After placing my order, I wrote an email to 1800PetMeds and expressed my concern that the order be approved by my vet and get here as quickly as possible. They wrote back within minutes and assured me that they had already contacted my vet and the order was being processed. Less than two hours later my order was processing for shipment, and I received it early the next day. Great response time and turnaround, thank you!

1-800-PetMeds I really love this website

I really love this website. It's so much easier to just order here and get the supplies you need for your pets in one fell swoop. Their prices are good, in fact, a bit lower than most large Pet Store chains and they have specialty products that you can't usually find at the stores.

One great thing is that the prescription medications you need for your pest are much cheaper here than if you were to buy the medicine at your local vet. You do need a pet prescription for some. Usually I will ask for the prescription from my vet and the vet sometimes lowers their prices to match 1800petmeds.

All in all, it is a fun place to shop if you are a pet owner/lover.

1-800-PetMeds Pet Meds has Amazing Customer Service!

I had ordered a Seresto flea collar and had asked that it be shipped regular USPS 2 to four day shipping. The post office made a mistake (no fault of Pet Meds) and it was somewhere in Illinois after 5 days (I live in FLorida). I explained that the fleas were getting bad and Pet Meds shipped me another collar overnight at no charge and asked that if the original order comes, just write return to sender on the package, and send it back. They have amazing customer service! There was a human that answered the phone, she was intelligent, courteous, and went beyond what I expected in customer service. I will only use them from now on. (By the way, the price was excellent compared to other mail order companies too. I checked).

1-800-PetMeds I've been using this site for at least a couple of

I've been using this site for at least a couple of years. Their service has been entirely reliable and they deliver (in both senses of the word) exactly what they describe. Meds always arrive on time, securely boxed regardless of how small the container might be, and they send the dog a free bone-shaped biscuit with every order as a neat final touch.

If you aren't familiar with the site, the name might put you off as it did me, initially; 1-800-anything sounds too much like one of those tacky not-available-in-stores offers. But this is the real deal and gets a rare top rating from me.

Incidentally I just noticed this is my 300th review, so I'm pleased to be able to mark that small milestone with something entirely positive, just for a change!

1-800-PetMeds I love 1800petmeds!

I love 1800petmeds! I've ordered several different types of medicine and shampoo for my allergy prone puggle and everything arrives quickly. Most of the time I get free shipping (if you spend over $39, it's free I believe!) and the package is well-sealed with a cute dog biscuit inside. They regularly send me coupon codes for $5 off here and there. Recently had an issue with my vet not approving a prescription. Once I spoke with my vet, I called 1800petmeds for the first time, as I normally just order online. I didn't have to wait on hold, and Ed was friendly, helpful, and efficient at solving my issue. When was the last time you had *thatkind of customer service?! Thanks, Ed and 1800petmeds. You guys rock my socks. (Winston says thank you as well!)

1-800-PetMeds Best of the best!

I am EXTREMELY satisfied with the competence and prices of this company. I usually dont write reviews, but 1800petmeds has not even once disappointed me! HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended! Finding the medicine for my dog and ordering its a breeze! It is so convenient that they even contact your vet for you to verify the prescription! One less hassle! In addition, they are on top of your order all the time... meaning even if your vet place is closed, they will notify you through email AND phone about the status of your order. Again... they do go the extra mile for the customer! And when you order, even if you were able to get free shipping, they will send your very fast and promptly! Tip: Always try to look online for coupon codes if you want an extra discount, besides the already low prices that they offer;)

1800petmeds is an A+ in my book!

1-800-PetMeds Amazing customer service

I am very pleased with 1800petmeds. My wonderful Dog was on a couple of different meds and they always came quickly and with a fun big treat for my dog. From her first package with a treat, anything that came in a box became hers, as she thought that all boxes had treats. After opening her med box, she would carry the box around for a while, thinking it would produce another treat. I loved the added touch of the treat in the med box. I started using this company when my dog was about 13.10 yrs and used them for a year. She has recently passed at home and we couldn't be more pleased with customer service and our last order we placed a week before she died and it was shipped and she ate the treat that came in the box. This company cares about it customers and I would highly recommend this company to friends and family. Their prices were much better than the vet prices.

My $300+ order was shipped to the wrong address (the website didn't save the new address I had input at checkout) so I called expecting to have to put my hackles up to get it sent to the correct one. The rep I spoke with though was AMAZING! I just explained the situation and he said they'll reship a new order to the correct address with overnight shipping. PLUS there's no robot you have to deal with before talking to an actual person and the wait time before he answered was less than two minutes! Such a great experience; I highly recommend :)

1-800-PetMeds My family has been using 1-800 pet meds for years

My family has been using 1-800 pet meds for years. We have been very pleased with the speedy shipping and great customer service. I had to call today because my vet was taking a little while to authorize a RX and the representative was awesome. She let me know the vet can call in the RX and provided me with the phone number for that and my customer number. She also made sure to re-send the request to the vet. She also offered free overnight shipping as this is a medication for my dog that helps with her itchiness and keeps her from scratching herself to the point of bleeding. The rep. was not only helpful but very kind and friendly. It's weird to say this, but I actually enjoyed talking to her. Highly recommend 1-800 pet meds. Great prices and even better customer service!

1-800-PetMeds TERRIBLE! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!

TERRIBLE! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I had to state my case for 65 minutes on the call for their error of sending me the incorrect item. I called their customer service yesterday afternoon around 2 pm PST, Wednesday, Nov 30th telling the service rep that PetMeds had shipped me the wrong Denamarin package twice in a row. I purchased the blister pack version (as shown on the PetMeds website) and not the bottle version. I wanted an exchange again and explained to her that the bottle version does not work for my dog's case because the bottle version has an expiration time of 4 weeks after opening the bottle. She checked with her manager and found out that PetMeds has only the bottle version. The packaging of Denamarin shown on the PetMeds website was incorrect. [Long story short] She told me to contact the manufacturer directly for my case instead of offering me any quick replacement or refund options. She made me feel like PetMeds' wrongdoing has become my problem. I ended the unpleasant experience with the service rep and requested that I speak with the manager directly. The manager wasn't helpful at the beginning either. The manager eventually decided to give me a full refund after I told her about my disappointment in them not valuing me as a loyal customer for 11+ years, pleading my case for 1 hour, and this was my first complaint. I have to ship the incorrect items back to them too. The whole experience was awful. PetMeds is only nice to you when you give them business, and they become unpleasant when you want them to correct their own errors.I hope my bad feedback won't get anyone fired. I only want to share this bad experience so that PetMeds can correct them moving forward...hopefully.

1-800-PetMeds Processing Refunds and Being Honest

I ordered pet meds through 1800PetMeds and i have been ordering items for years from them. This is my last and final order. I realized I had ordered the wrong pet meds when the box was being shipped. I received the shipment and refused the shipment because I knew I had ordered the wrong item. The order total was 327.66. After I refused the shipment I logged on to 1800PetMed website to send them and email and let them know I returned the item, this was April 30,2020. I received an email from 1800PetMeds stating that their refund policy was I would receive my refund in 7 to 10 days. On April 26,2020 I still did not have my refund. I filed a Better Business Bureau complaint and immediately i received a phone call from 1800PetMeds. Ms. Kim Klemm apologized saying 1800PetMeds was not aware of me returning any items, even though I had corresponded with their rep on March 30,2020. Ms. Kim Klemm also stated that I should not have been told that i would receive my refund within 7 to 10 days because of COVID-19. Ms. Klemm responded to the BBB complaint and said 1800PetMeds was not aware that I returned anything to them but I supplied BBB a copy of the email I sent and received from 800PetMeds. I has now been over 30 days and I still dont have my refund of 327.66 back even though Ms. Klemm stated she processed my refund it has not shown up on my credit card. My guess is I will wait another 30 days to receive it if I ever receive it. Because of the dishonesty and the lack of attention to processing refunds at a time like this when many people are jobless or confined to their homes, I would seriously think twice about shopping with 1800PetMeds. I have been a loyal customer for many years but this is my last and final purchase with them for these reasons.

1-800-PetMeds HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE

I placed my 1st order on April 13, with all the necessary information. On the 14th I checked back my order only to find that they had called the wrong vet office (this is the beginning of dealing with sheer stupidity!). I contacted them and advised them that their mistake.

In the late afternoon of April 16th I checked the status of my order and it was still ? pending vet approval ?. Again I contacted them only to be told that it was too late and they will contact the vet the following day to get the approval and since I was running out of the meds, they would expedite my order overnight free of charge.

Monday April 19 once again I checked to see if indeed my order was shipped and it was still ? waiting for vet approval ?!
I contacted them again only to be told that ? they had contacted the vet's office and was put on hold ?! I guess the hold time was unacceptable to them they hung up and DID'NT call back.
While chatting online with the rep at 800petmeds, I was told they were currently contacting the vet's office. I decided to call the vet's office at the same time. I was on the phone with the [protected]@ the vet's office for apx. 5 minutes NO one from 800petmeds ever called them. Not to mention the pharmacist told me ? I don't know why they would be calling us when in fact they know any request for approval needs to be made via email ?! So sent that message to 800 petmeds and I was told they were going to send the email request.

Sigh, today April 21 I checked to see if my order was being processed once again it was still ? waiting for vet approval ?. Once again i contacted them and asked why this is still the case and I was told by Jacqueline that this medication ? (Gabapentin) is handled differently than most meds because its a controlled substance and cannot be put through electronically. Therefore their pharmacists has to call them.

Hummmm I thought they called yesterday and the day before that, and on Friday and Saturday! When I challenged her response, she graciously answered ? our office is calling them now, check back later & you will see that took place ?
? Check back later ? IS'NT THAT WHAT I HAVE BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST WEEK OR SO? When I challenged her response she disconnected the conversation!

1-800-PetMeds General incompetence and horrible attitude.

After 6 phone calls and multiple emails, you still sent an incorrect invoice. The first invoice had the wrong dog's name on it. What they followed up with was from months ago; it’s the wrong date and the wrong amount of money and my dog's correct name is STILL not on it so I cannot submit it to my pet's health insurance for reimbursement. At almost $250.00 that's meaningful.

Moreover, they had a snotty attitude and complained about sending the invoice “twice.” One email had no attachment whatsoever. The other one was completely wrong. Then they wonder why customers get angry and ultimately leave.

Desired outcome: Get the correct invoice asap. They've already lost me as a customer.

1-800-PetMeds Do not order from them

customer service is a failure.
I bought several meds for my old dog that were recommended by our vet. I ordered an express delivery as it was urgent. It's been a week and I haven't received anything yet. I contacted customer service and talked to a very rude manager who didn't let me speak and often interrupted me. It was very irritating. I have no idea what purpose she did it for, but my issue wasn't resolved and I forced to ask for a compensation because I don't want to order from them again. My dog's health is more important.

1-800-PetMeds unprofessional lack of customer service

As requested, asked my vet to fax prescription to 1800petmeds for two medications. My vet told me "we don't do business with that company". So i mailed the script to the address provided by 1800petsmeds. No response... A week later received a reminder that a script was necessary to fulfill the order. Send a second copy of the prescription. No reply... A month later i'm still waiting.
Called customer service and was told that someone from the pharmacy would call me. Still waiting for the phone call. I now respect the position taken by my vet.

I buy all my products from 1-800-PetMeds and have never had a problem. The vet may have refused to authorize. My vet has no problem with them.

1-800-PetMeds they lost my order and haven't provided any decisions

I was shocked that the company www.1800petmeds.com misled me. I have bought medicine and supplements for my dog from this place, but they somehow lost the order. I was desperate and called them every day, but these guys promised to find the order or to send another one, but it was useless promises. After 5 days I still got nothing about the order. They tipped-toed around the problems and didn’t want to solve it. Not recommended place.

1-800-PetMeds this site is a complete rip off

Today, 01-23-13 cosequin plus msm (60 count) at 1800petmeds... $35... At walmart... $19.99... And that is not a sales price either. If people would take the time to open their eyes they'd see this site is s complete rip-off! Shop around people!

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, there is no way to beat all the prices in the nation. For that reason, we meet all competitors' prices at time of order. If you find a lower price including shipping on the identical product from a Vet-VIPPS® accredited online pet pharmacy, we will honor that price at the time of order as long as the product is FDA/EPA approved for sale in the United States. The price being matched must be a product dispensed by an accredited licensed-pharmacy or veterinarian residing in the United States.

1-800-PetMeds unauthorized information storage

I was planning on purchasing from 1800petmeds.com but I have to mail in my prescription instead of them calling my vet, as they don't give phone authorizations. I didn't see the mail in option when checking out so I did not complete the order. I never created an account, I never okayed any forms allowing them to create or store anything, I simply started a transaction and then did not complete it. Now when I visit the site, I see "Welcome [my name]!" and a link to My Account on the top of the page. I wrote to customer service and asked them to remove all of my information, explaining all of this. I got a generic reply apologizing for my not being able to complete the order. I wrote back and explained that this was not my complaint, that I was asking them to remove my info. I got a reply that this had been done. It was not, and all of my info was still on the site. I replied again, asking them to please remove my info, that I never authorized them to store it or create any account with it. Again, I got a reply that they did delete it. Again, it was a lie. I tried to change the info in the My Account area but what I was able to change was limited. The site still says my name on top. I don't see how this is acceptable behavior for such a well known company. I have asked for the FOURTH time that they remove ALL of my information, but I don't have high hopes that this will occur. I'm so very relieved that I didn't order from 1800petmeds because who knows what they would have done with my credit card and other information I would have entered during the checkout process. I find this company to be blatant liars and completely untrustworthy. Stay away.

1-800-PetMeds lying omitting information

I am not happy at all with my experience with 1800petmeds. They lied to me about getting my medication within 24 hours. They omitted the fact that my vet needed to okay what they referred to as a ''refill'' on the medication I ordered from them. Not only that, I went to 1800petmeds because my vet was asking to 'bring my animal in' even though she had a routine eye infection... And I didn't want to bring my 18 year old cat in for something so minute... Had I known this I would have never used 1800petmeds because I would have known my vet would have not 'refilled' my pets medication! So I ordered a medication that my vet, who is nearby, could have given me but instead I waited and waited for the medication to arrive, and they never told me that my vet did not 'okay' the medication either. I had to figure it out. One question to 1800petmeds—why lie and tell people they can get medication direct when really they have to go through your own vet anyway?! Thanks a lot for the hassle and headache, oh and my cat is still sick, four days after the initial order was placed and her eye is much worse... Not to mention their ridiculous prices... But I was willing to overlook that for my cat's health.

They are a pharmacy not a drug dealer! Of course you need a RX, it's your duty toget your animal DX'd and then if you choose to prolong treatment by ordering online instead of direct from the vet that's on you! 1800petmeds is fantastic for maintenance medications.

Part of the PetMeds FAQ: "As a licensed pet pharmacy, we are required by law to dispense only veterinarian authorized medications (Heartgard Plus, Revolution, Sentinel, Rimadyl, etc)". Nowhere on the site does it say - "come to us if you don't want to go to your vet."

Um, it says right on their website that they will check with your vet before they will fill or refill medications. All of the reputable online pet pharmacies do this. The reason to go to places like that is because they are usually much cheaper than going through your vet, not because you are trying to avoid going to your vet at all.

1-800-PetMeds unauthorized charge to bank account

Similar thing happened to me for which i will be posting a complaint.

On April 24 '10, I placed an online order for $60.99 from 1800petmeds. On April 27 '10, I called to confirm that the prescription was authorized and ready to ship, and to upgrade my shipping to Priority for an additional $3.99. Instead of charging me the $3.99 shipping charge, they charged me $64.99 which is the $60.99 I originally paid PLUS the $3.99. Meaning, my account then had two back to back charges, one for original $60.99 and then another for $64.98! If they had done their jobs correctly, it should have been one charge for $60.99 and then the one for $3.99 shipping.

When I noticed this within hours I called 1800petmeds and spoke with a certain customer rep. I told him that this DOUBLE CHARGE was endangering my count of being overdrawn and that they needed to fix it immediately. He AGREED with me that a MISTAKE was made (after some teeth pulling because this guy did NOT want to admit that they messed up), took my bank's phone number, my bank card number, and told me he would call my bank, take care of it, and call me right back. He called me back in a 1/2 hour to report that it was fixed. So I breathed a sigh of relief. Until two days later when my bank account was hit with TWO OVERDRAFT CHARGES TOTALING $72 as a DIRECT result of their mistake. After nearly 40 minutes on the phone with my bank I was able to explain to them, and they were able to clearly see, that this was all caused by 1800petmeds UNAUTHORIZED charge of $64.98. So now I had to have my credit card cancelled and wait for a reissue, have to file a claim with my bank in order for them to investigate and for me to be compensated for the overdraft fees. Not to mention, this whole fiasco has eaten up 50 minutes of my cell phone time (i do not use a land line) putting me in jeopardy of accruing MORE CHARGES for going over my minutes. All thanks to the ineptitude of 1800petmeds. Would rather pay more through my vet than ever use them again. The pits!

1-800-PetMeds bad service

I have ordered twice now from this company. Both orders went smoothly. Easy to order online. Also ordered some prescription medication. The store went ahead and verified with the vet, so that I didn't need to contact the vet myself for a prescription. Great service. Good packaging and fast shipping. Great prices. Will strongly consider for future orders and recommend to family and friends.

1-800-PetMeds credit card fraud

After placing an order with 1800 pet meds, they emailed me a $10 coupon toward my next order. But when I used it, they said it authorized them to take $40 a month from my checking/debit for some stupid service that not only would I not use, but was unaware of! It took several calls to get the 4 months of charges taken off, but they did do it.

I will not buy from them again. Some bargain. Incidentally, classmates.com did the same thing! They said I clicked on a window that told me they were authorized to do the same thing. I don't even know what it was supposed to be about!

1-800-petmeds customer service stole my CC number and made over $400 in fraudulent purchases. There is no way to update the payment method for an order without going through customer service and giving a person your card information.

Do NOT give your credit card information to 1800petmeds. For the third time in a row, in nearly as many months, my number has been stolen. This is a card for which the actual number is used only for 1800petmeds autopay, so it could not possibly have been stolen any other way. I notified 1800petmeds after each incident, and it is still happening.

Company sends a 30 Lb. boxed bag of dog food requiring a signature. FEDEX tried three times to deliver but because I work I could not sign for it. The release box was crossed out requiring me to go to FEDEX on Saturday and stand in line for quite a while since there was only one employee working in the Rancho Bernardo office. What an incredible waste of time. I will shop on Amazon in the future since they leave it on the porch and do not require a signature for dog food.

I will add that 1800petmeds still has 3rd parties accessing credit card numbers. I recently was a victim of fraudulent credit card use after buying something with 1800petmeds. Funny thing is they denied it and I tracked an item bought that was shipped to less than 1 hour from where 1800petmeds is located in Fl. Funny coincidence. 1800petmeds credit card fraud is real.
