Kept Security Dep. for services not rendered
Our family leased a property from Absolute Island, Kevin Quat, for 1 year. We took pictures of the areas in which were damaged upon move in. The company had a check list and stated that everything was in great condition, no chips of paint etc. I have the pictures to prove otherwise, which has been forwarded to the company. We paid $750 dep for security and for pet. I cleaned the home when moved in, it was dusty had a few carpet stains, and mens underwear under the blankets of a bed. In the middle of our lease, we were contacted that the Owners of the property wanted to move back in, we said if we found a place sooner then we would consider. Then the owners wanted to come and visit the property which entailed me into cancelling appointments. Upon the end of our lease, we cleaned the home, the carpets, and left the home in better condition than when we moved in. I have pictures to show this. We needed the money back and all it cost us was out time. We had no problem scrubbing ovens, carpets, dusting and more. Then to find out that they took money for defleaing which was fine, they always do this. Even though there were no fleas it is a precaution we understand. They took money for a professional cleaner for normal wear and tear which we can sue for. They also took money for carpet cleaning by a profesional, in which the carpets were never cleaned. We finally received $160 back from $750. They took our hard earned money for services not rendered. This is unethical, and immoral business practices. I am so tired of being ripped off by business owners that feel they can have the upperhand. I have emails where they have tried to cover themselves and back track on what is in the lease and what has been told to us. We have complained to the BBB (which they are not members of) and the Comsumer Affairs. I am taking this farther, but I don't want anyone else to be misled in the area. Stay away from this company unless you have hundreds of dollars you feel you can just give away for nothing. Stay away! I have too many photos to attach therefore if anyone wants to see them, please email me and I will freely send them.
