I had service for a non-working air conditioner on Tuesday April 7. A service tech from Academy Air came out and diagnosed the AC with a bad contactor switch, and replaced it, charging me $444.29. He said the AC was working. He left, and we discovered it was not working, so I called the next day. On April 8, a new tech came out, who confirmed that we should not have been charged us for the repair, as it was not the cause of the issue, and not the reason the AC was not working. He showed me that it was in fact an unrepairable coolant leak, and with our unit still running R22 refrigerant, we needed a new unit, given the cost of repair and new coolant. He said the contactor switch should not have been replaced, and would issue a refund. No refund has happened. I called Academy Air on Tuesday 4/13, and was told they were looking into it, and someone would call me back. I called again Wednesday 4/14, and was told a manager would call back. I have not received a refund or a call back at this point. If the situation had been properly diagnosed and explained to me I would not have elected this repair, as the unit would not work after.
We love Academy and will always use them for all of our HVAC, plumbing, and electrical needs. They are always professional and honest. I highly recommend them.

My heater was making a bad noise and not working. I called Academy Air to check it. They said the cilinder coil needed to be replaced. Since the heater was still under manufacturer's warranty they ordered the piece and call us back to schedule the repair. There we no charges for the repair and it was done within a week. Thank you for following up and backing your products.
I have been using Academy Air for years and they have been wonderful. Today Gabe came out and did the seasonal tune up for my air conditioner. He was very professional and friendly. Would highly recommend Academy Air and Gabe!

I had a two thousand dollar 40 gallon hot water tank installed. They never checked to see if there was power to it when they were done. They told me it worked and that in an hour I'd have hot water. Now they want to charge me 70 dollars more to look at the breaker to see why I don't have hot water. They are over priced and want me to pay even more money because they never checked to see if the new tank was even working.

He cleaned my unit, changed my air filters and recommended some possible items I may want to address as preventative measures. I was very happy with the service I received and would highly recommend Academy Air for heating and cooling needs.

He came round to give a quote on a couple of items and whilst he was here he took the time to do a thorough review of the entire electrics in our house and made some additional recommendations. Wonderful service! Tim and his assistant were on time and even called before they came to let me know they were on their way. They wore masks and shoe covers. The service was explained and he asked if I had any questions. Tim was friendly and knowledgeable. Both were courteous and respectful of the COVID situation. We used Academy Air for a Fall tune-up of our HVAC system. Our tech, Blake, was very thorough, efficient, helpful, and friendly. He answered any questions we had and gave us some helpful advice, pointing out ways we could get things like our humidifier and furnace to work better, and signing us up for their annual home care membership without harassing us with a hard sell. Our HVAC shot *** 3 days ago. We got four bids. Two that never got back with us and one that was $7,000 over what Academy quoted us for basically the same thing. The techs were fabulous. Tore out the nasty old system. One working outside and one inside. Took care in placing mats on the floor and cleaning up everything after they left. Vanessa met with us beforehand to choose a new system and took the time to show us all options and explain and answered all our questions. We definitely recommend!
They truly serve the customer
They truly serve the customer. Even during busy times, they always try to come out same day if it is a repair call. Communication is excellent. The customer service dept. is always friendly and kept me updated on the time frame of the technicians arrival. The technician listened and had good advice. They have access to the customers file, so no matter who is coming out, everyone knows the state of the equipment, previous issues and what else was discussed. They also take great care when coming into the home. Even before the Corona pandemic, they always put on shoe covers.

What an excellent company. Every single technician from the first time I used them has been excellent, great knowledge, answers all my questions, fix the problems for which I have contacted them and most important, they all go above and beyond what I expect them to do. I am so pleased with this company, they are my place to go for electrical repairs, furnace, air, every single time. I also bought a furnace from them and they installed that to my 150% +++ satisfaction. Thank you Academy Air and all of their employees. You are a model of what service companies should be like! Our basement sewer drain backed up. As I had no idea Academy Air did plumbing issues/repairs, I was extremely pleased with the service. I placed an online service request in the evening hours, for four days out. They called the next morning & was able to get Elijah out here same day, which was not expected, but VERY much appreciated. He did and amazing job not only clearing/cleaning/flushing pipes, but also explaining everything as he went to keep me in the loop (which was very much appreciated for someone who knows nothing about that stuff, lol.) From Customer Service calls, to Technician's professionalism, great quality work, & everything in between, I would HIGHLY recommend Academy Air!

In December I had an Academy Air technician to our home for a plumbing issue. While he was at our home he told me the pressure relief valve should be replaced as it is probably 40+ years old. I asked the technician what the cost would be and he provided me a written quote for $585.26. I asked him about replacing 2 outside faucets at the same time as they are probably also 40 years old and he quoted me verbally $800.00 for the valve and the two faucets. I told him I would contact the company closer to spring to have the work done. I called Academy Air 3/15 to schedule the work. They had a copy of the technician's written estimate, but nothing regarding the faucets. The office lady I was speaking with asked my how much was quoted and I told her $800.00. The lady checked with someone in the office and came back to the phone and told me that was fine-they could perform all the work for $800.00. Two technicians came to our home today, 3/18, and I asked them if they wanted to do the faucets first or the valve first. They told me they knew nothing about the faucets. I told them I had discussed the entire job with the office when I made the appointment 3-15 and the office agreed with the price of $800.00. The technicians told me now the entire job would cost $1100.00+. I told them no way and they should check with their office, which they did. The supervisor, whoever he is, would not honor the quote I had been given and the office had agreed to a mere 3 days earlier. One of the technicians said their quotes are only good for 30 days. I have a copy of the quote and no where on it does it say anything about only valid for 30 days. Needless to say I sent the two on their way without the work being done. All is can say is think twice before contacting Academy Air!

Took only 15 minutes to clean out drain and charged me $275. I have read many complaints on this Company and how they mislead their Customers to get extra money from them. I distinctly told them I wanted a picture of the inside of the pipe to find what is happening so I can correct whatever the problem is to keep from unstopping my sewer line which is getting quite costly.

They are more than happy to take your $$$$$, but do not stand behind their "guarantees." We paid them, in good faith, a very large sum of money to give us better than what we already had. They did an "install" of 2 entire heating/AC units & then left without one whole system not working & then the second system stopped working immediately after they left because one of their incompetent installers left a live wire uncapped which shorted out the system. Also, their installers didn't know how to wire the units that they admitted are the units that they install day in & day out. When I called that night I was told a tech would be out within an hr, tech never showed so they left us without ANY heat the night before Thanksgiving & most of Thanksgiving day. We then received a text message Thanksgiving morning stating they would charge $199 + $99 to come out that day! When I called they stated they could bring us more space heaters. After demanding someone come out that day, the tech had to come out twice because the furnace never stopped running. When their "best" installer came out Friday to fix both units, he left with one system blowing louder than being inside an airplane. He gave the excuse that the blower had to be up that high to heat the area. Spoke to the install manager again on Sat. & he said he would send out his best team on Monday to fix all the issues & flippantly offered $500 to compensate us. Now that they have "fixed" both units they are both louder than the 29+ yr units we had before. And now that the temp has dropped, both units are fast cycling & running nonstop. Their GM, who's an a$$hole came into our home today & stated that nothing they had done was negligent, gave numerous excuses, stated they would only offer us $1k to compensate us & that they could again have people come out to fix it. Who in their right mind would want to continue any kind of relationship with a company that operates like that? I have 2.5 pages of complaints against them.

DATE-11/22 had a problem in bath. Academy came over and stated that I had a cracked tub and needed replacing. They then took out toilet, and plumbing in walls. I got cleaner and paper towels and cleaned off the (crack) on the tub. This tub is cast iron and WAS NOT CRACKED. They still charged me for a tub. I cannot seem to get an itemized list of items used on this job nor a credit for the tub that was not brought out nor used. They have charged me $9,018.17 for job and I cannot get credit not itemized invoice despite requesting it

Hello, I would like to begin by saying, i am filing this on behalf of my mother ***. She contacted Academy Air in April, when the a/c unit at her rental property at *** was not working properly this only because of the commercial that states that they ( Academy air), would fix your problem, or money back guarantee, or something to that effect. They then charged my mother $1,100, and said that that was for labor. Because after they were done her unit still did not work, Academy air came back out and told her to contact her landlord. So we contacted the landlord and he had to pay $1,700 to get a new unit. I believe that Academy are should have lived up to their end of the bargain, my mother is mentally ill and disabled. And I feel like she was taken advantage of. I have attached invoices for Academy air and then from the landlord.
I have paid to be a member of their business for 2 years
I have paid to be a member of their business for 2 years. They were to install my humidifier and clean my furnace. They said that they could not find my ticket that I paid for. They said they can not come out because there is an open ticket. I asked that they close the ticket out and come out to my house to do the work. They have been paid and they agreed to do the work. I have been waiting on them to reach back out to me so I can speak with a supervisor or an owner and I haven't been contacted. They had 2 occasions when there were to come out and they missed both.

Had electrical work which required a permit for st. Louis county inspection. Did the work one month ago and were paid in full for the job. still do not have the permit or a time to have an inspection done. all I get when I call is more excuses and apologies. I don't need those I need the permit. I recommend that anyone using academy air not pay for the job until they get the permit otherwise they have been paid in full and won't finish the job.

I have a complaint concerning Academy Air
I have a complaint concerning Academy Air. The plumber who installed pipes in the basement and the pipe going down to the basement were not the correct size. I had to get another plumber to fix the water problems created when Academy Air worked on it. The master plumber who fixed these issues stated: Laundry box not glued, left pipe hose loose, tied laundry into the kitchen line. We had called Academy Air to come out and see the water issues from them working on the pipes for the kitchen and washer/dryer in to the basement. They came once and did nothing about it. Before we had Academy Air we had no issues or problems with the kitchen washer and dryer. Please read letter and photos sent to Academy Air (see attached). We have not heard back from them.

My heater was not working so I called Academy Air to come out. They told me I need to replace the furnace which would cost minimal $1800 up to $5000. They gave me a form the said my furnace was hazardous and must not be used until the hazard is eliminated, i.e. new furnace. I had a second opinion from *** and they replace the pressure switch which was cracked and said the furnace was fine.
I paid for servicing my furnace at the beginning of the year. I called to set up an appointment for it and they wanted to charge me again. I told them I already paid them and do not need to pay again. They just kept trying to give me excuses.

November Academy Air installed a new furnace and air conditioner for my condo unit. The first summer I went to use the air conditioner, summer of 2018 it did not work properly so I placed a service call to check it out. My came out and said it needed coolant that it was low. The next summer 2019 the same thing happened, so they came out added coolant and a stop leak additive because they said it had a coolant leak. Now the summer of 2020 in August the same thing AGAIN, this time they detected that the leak was in the main A coil. The A coil would be replaced under manufactures warranty but not the labor to replace it, that would cost me $850.00. I do not think I should be responsible for replacing a unit that was defective from the installation date.

Hello, I'm filing this on behalf of my mother. She contacted Academy Air in April for a malfunctioning a/c unit at her rental property. On 6 - 13 - 20 I called Acadamy air because my washing machine backed up in my laundry room. They sent out a service tech and snaked out the laundry room drain then left after getting a $97 service charge. Then I started a load of laundry and it backed up again. Call the Acadamy back and they sent the same Tech out again. He checked everything out but didn't fix the clogged. Said he would have to come back tomorrow. Two days later he returned & pulled the toilet and snaked it still with no success they left me with a leaky toilet and two Bills one for $97 and one for a hundred and sixty-six totaling $263 which is on top of the $97 from the day before for the first day. not only did they not fix the problem they left my toilet leaking, a mess on my carpet and they turned my AC up to 84 degrees. Had to call another plumber and it took him all of 20 minutes to solve the problem. I tryed three times calling them but they never got back with me.

Three things needed to be done: drains cleaned out in shower and 1 sink in master bath--bad odor eminating from both but drains were not blocked, and the toilet was leaking and needed repair. Repairman quoted me $335 for the service to be performed. He supposedly cleaned out the drains but there is still odor present? He kept fiddling with the toilet over the two hour period he was here and apparently had tried to adjust something about it and said it was no longer leaking when he was ready to leave. He had spent so much time doing nothing but checking if there was a leak that I finally asked him to stop. Checking doesn't mean the same thing as fixing. He didn't fix the problem because within hours of his leaving the toilet was leaking again. The leak had just moved from one side to the back. I was told there would be an additional charge for them to return----No guarantee on there work apparently---even for a few days!

Friday, Nov. 27, 2020; the furnace at my aunt's house went out & I contacted Academy Air. The technician came out, got the furnace working, stated a pressure switch needed to be replace, part ordered and someone would be out that next week to install. We discussed the service fee, cost of the part, the cost of a yearly maintenance plan and, with maintenance plan, we would get $136.67 off the part. Total due and paid was $599. The following week I called because we had not heard from AA, not received an itemized statement of charges, nor a written copy of the maintenance plan. I was told the part had just came in, an appointment was made for 12/8, the itemized statement was being emailed to me that day and a brochure on the maintenance plan was being sent via usps that afternoon. The appointment was completed as scheduled. I received the statement but it did not itemized with costs. As of today, 1/4, I have not received itemized bill nor written maintenance agreement.

We hired Academy Air to come out to clean our furnace on Dec 17 2020. As you know that was winter time and we had just moved from Ca. We had a inspection of the house. The furnace was inspected and we were told it was just fine but we should get it cleaned. So we hired Academy Air and the woman that they sent out was at our house for 2hours and had not cleaned the furnace yet. I asked her what was wrong and she said she was waiting for her boss to come out. He came out took one look at it and said there was a crack in the furnace and the heating exchange was not working correctly and they suspected that we were getting carbon monoxide poisoning. They red flagged it and left the gas on. We had it inspected by 3 other companies including our gas company that says this was not the situation at all. They made us go without our furnace all winter. We even contacted the fire department who said there was no carbon monoxide poisoning. We found out this is their go to move. I posted this onlin

October 27 called company for cable identification behind dishwasher, for a new dishwasher hook up. Scheduled for Oct. 28th. Recieved text to reschedule. Rescheduled for Nov 1. Tech came out Nov 1 and told us we would need more work to hook up new dishwasher. estimate of $1,437, and given a new day to start work of November 8th . Wrote the FULL CHECK Nov. 1st. November 8th, no call no show. Nov 9th was told tech had emergency and was rescheduled for Nov 22 (eventhough estimate included membership, which gave priority. Is 14 days out priority?). Called company the same night (Nov 9th) to cancel and receive a refund. Told I would receive a call from finance department. Was never contacted by anyone. Called again Nov 15th. Told I would be contacted by Finance dep. again. Called today (Nov 16th) and was hung up on. Called back to a different rep and was told I would be contacted by someone higher up. That was hours ago. I've used this company before, and do not understand the 180 treatment. I want a refund and cancelation of the so called "membership".

The company webpage advertises that they will clean out the main household drain PLUS do a camera inspection. I've utilized this company several times this year. Previously, I was out of work due to the Covid Lockdown so was unable to pay for a complete Lateral Line repair which is 1000's of dollars. I am now in a situation that I can move forward with repairs utilizing the *** Public Works program: the township pays 85% and I pay 15%. The company is still advertising the lateral line cleaning plus camera inspection. They've supplied a service man to clean the drain successfully; however, they did not do the cameral work. I've phoned the company and spoken with a Rep whom stated that as of Dec. 2 they no longer will do the camera work; therefore it will cost an additional $200. The entire reason I went with Academy air is because they advertised they will do both for $93. Even today they are advertising the same! $93 for a drain clear and camera. They refused to provide the second portion of the service although advertised. I would NOT have used Academy Air had I known they wouldn't honor their claim for the FULL service of drain clear PLUS camera work.

Now that they have "fixed" both units they are both louder than the 29+ yr units we had before. And now that the temp has dropped, both units are fast cycling & running nonstop. Their GM, who's an a$$hole came into our home today & stated that nothing they had done was negligent, gave numerous excuses, stated they would only offer us $1k to compensate us & that they could again have people come out to fix it. Who in their right mind would want to continue any kind of relationship with a company that operates like that? I have 2.5 pages of complaints against them.

I contacted Academy Air on 08/26 to inquire about service to my water heater. I told the representative that I was pretty sure I knew what the issue was and I asked if the technician had parts upon arrival. Before scheduling an appointment for service, I was told that the trucks were fully supplied with parts. Also before scheduling the appointment, I inquired about the advertised diagnostic for $69. I was told that the diagnostic would indeed be $69 unless I received service then the $69 would basically go towards the cost of service and would not be a separate fee. Sound simple enough so I decided to schedule service. The technician came out on Friday 08/28. He was friendly HOWEVER he told me that the diagnostic would be $169! I was thinking that's $100 more than what I was told and what the company has advertised on the website. He went to the van to grab a bucket of "tools" and after looking at the unit and telling me what I already knew, he told me that my thermocouple was bad. He went to the van and "called" the manufacturer. The tech came back a few minutes later with a total service price of $541! $169 for the diagnostic, $170 for the thermocouple and $202 for labor. He told me that since it was Friday he would have the part overnighted, and since it was the weekend he could be back Wednesday/ Thursday of next week if I chose to move forward. I told him that the rep said the diagnostic price is waived or goes towards service, however you want to look at it, if repairs/service would be done. He said not for this type of diagnostic. Annoyed and just wanting hot water for my children and 70-year-old grandmother, I went against my better judgement and agreed to the service. The tech emailed me what I expected to be an itemized receipt, but there isn't a breakdown of anything. It just shows "total". It is now 09/09 and I still have not been serviced for services I PAID for. I haven't heard from the technician since the day he walked out of my house. I've called the company SEVERAL times and no one can give me any answers. I was hung up on by a rude man on 09/01 who told me the parts are taking longer because of COVID-19 and it could be up to 5 business days before the "overnighted" part came in. If that was the case why didn't the technician mention that during my initial appointment. I called again on 09/08 and was transferred to someone who never picked up the phone and when I called back the rep on the phone said she would see what I going on and promised to call me back that day. Well, that was yesterday and I still have not received a call back. I feel completely robbed by this company. The tech saw 2 women, 1 being elderly and thought he could get over and did. It is unethical to take $541 from a customer for services and not follow through with those services. It is also false advertisement to advertise the diagnostic for $69 and it is $169 according to the technician. I am upcoming on 2 weeks since the initial visit and this company has my money and at this point is avoiding my calls.

Our HVAC shot *** 3 days ago. We got four bids. Two that never got back with us and one that was $7,000 over what Academy quoted us for basically the same thing. The techs were fabulous. Tore out the nasty old system. One working outside and one inside. Took care in placing mats on the floor and cleaning up everything after they left. Vanessa met with us beforehand to choose a new system and took the time to show us all options and explain and answered all our questions. We definitely recommend!
