I was offered 3 free set-top boxes for two years to accommodate networks encrypting their signals on Nov 8 2021. I could not get anyone in customer service who knew what I talking about. I have the offer in writing.
I could not hook-up the boxes and Optimum tech support could not help me.
Nov 15, 2021 I returned the two boxes to the local Optimum store, and also discontinued my basic TV service. I have this transaction on a receipt.
I just received the latest bill and I am being charged for the two set-top boxes. Even if I had them they were supposed to be free for two years!
I was also billed for basic TV service, which I had quite Nov 13, at the optimum store..
Trying to call the "remove services" department I was connected instead to "retention". The representative there did not believe or accept what I told her. Instead she tried to up-sell me with a promo!
The customer is expected to prove what the customer is claiming, and it seems irrelevant that information created in one division of the company--the store, for example--is not available to another division--billing.
I do not know what to do, other than attempt a small-claims lawsuit.
Desired outcome: To receive services that I want, and be billed accordingly, including having the current bill corrected to reflect the serviuce--internet only--I am receiging, at the price I am expecting.
