I’ve been an AMEX Member since 2008. Initially, my original Card was closed abruptly w/claims something was on my credit report. It was just a lie and I didn’t do anything wrong; they simply closed it and that was that.
A few years later, I eventually got a personal Platinum Card and currently have three Business Cards through them. For the record, I earn 7-figures annually, spend hundreds of thousands on these cards annually, have credit scores above 800 with no delinquencies, and always pay on time…often making random payments of $30k, $50k, etc., while I’ve charged at times as much as $80k or so with no issues. Everything was fine until about two years ago. Since then, I’ve been having major problems with them declining my transactions, asking me to make astronomical payments in the middle of nowhere to prove myself (which I’ve done repeatedly), etc. When I inquired, they told me my balances were higher than usual (LIES), I need to make larger payments (I’d just made two $30k payments in a row…umm), and a bunch of other lies to justify their horrible mistreatment of my accounts. I was then told by a Supervisor I can eliminate this by having them verify my bank accounts, and that I could get up to 1/4 of the amount in my bank account they verify. So, figuring it will simplify things, I verified a bank account and only asked them for $100 coverage, which they approved, since I have more than 4X that in cash. Well, a few months later, I kept getting declined again, verified again, and same thing…just tons of BS!
Now, as of months ago, they literally put a $50k limit on my Platinium card and whether money is available on my business or personal cards, they’ll randomly decline them all just for the hell of it! A week or two ago, they lowered my limit to $40k on the Platinium Card and the business one basically has been declining just about everything the past several months anyhow.
Seriously, WTF? This is the absolute most unprofessional, shady, disrespectful Company ever! Being a customer for over 15 years who has never had delinquencies, has excellent credit and income, runs up a hefty tab and earns them tons of money, as well as had my banks verified several times, one would think I’d be a priority customer. Instead, they treat me like scum and I’m realizing this company is literally the absolute worst credit card company on the planet.
Desired outcome: Respect and appreciate the hard earned money I pay them, stop playing games with my credit limits and embarrassingly declining my transactions when I’ve done nothing wrong, and learn to treat consumers with professionalism!
