I am extremely satisfied with the service I received from the company.
I am extremely satisfied with the service I received. Our attic had been a temporary home to both squirrels and raccoons for months. After they left, we called a professional service to repair the damage. The specialist who visited our home to assess the situation was extremely knowledgeable, thorough, professional, and experienced. I immediately had confidence in his abilities. He drew up a comprehensive plan to fix all the damage and mess the animals had made, and another plan to prevent future intrusions. Everything promised was completed within a few days at a fair price. Our work team was outstanding, displaying exceptional work ethic and skill, completing the job to perfection in just a few hours. The transformation of my attic is astonishing. It now looks immaculate with new insulation and no traces of our unwelcome guests. I'm confident we won't be hosting local wildlife again. This is a testament to the company's great service, workmanship, and pricing. A heartfelt thank you to the team for their honesty and follow-up. We are truly delighted! - Lawrenceville
Wow, what a fantastic first experience I had with Angi!
Wow, what a fantastic first experience I had with Angi! I used Angi to find a roofer, as we had some roof damage from the recent wind storms. I selected 3 of the *** companies to request quotes. Two of them contacted me the same day to set up appointments for estimates. I was notified by Angi that I had a message from the 3rd one in the Angi app. The 3rd company had contacted me to let me know that they were too busy to take on any new jobs and had requested Angi to remove them from the list until they were able to take more work. They were very apologetic. Frankly, I'm surprised any roofers were available, considering how many people had roof damage from the storms. We ended up using one of the roofers that had given us a quote: ***. They were absolutely wonderful! Very professional, very responsive to texts and phone calls, got us on their busy schedule pretty fast, finished the job fast, and did the job well. My husband and I were very happy with them.During this entire process, I was receiving periodic phone calls (about once a week) from an Angi rep to make sure that things were going smoothly, that I was receiving responses from the companies from whom I had requested quotes, and that I was being taken care of. I soooo appreciated these follow-up calls because it made me feel good to know that Angi was watching out for me and not just leaving me to the mercy of contractors. I felt better, knowing that these contractors were being held accountable by Angi.I will definitely use Angi for future home repair needs. It saved me the time of trying to figure out what companies existed to do the work I needed done, who could I trust, etc.
Too little to late/no Refund
I my water heater stopped working last week on a very cold SW Washington State day. I listed the job on Angie's List and did not get a response. The cost was over $200. After a few days of cold showers, I was able to find someone myself, who quickly fixed the problem and charged $30. Several days later someone from Angis' list did show up; I explained that I had no responses and needed hot water ASAP. I am seeking a refund for Angi's upfront payment. No one from Angis's List has responded!
Recommendation: Avoid Angi's List
Warning: Unprofessional and Dishonest Contractor - CREO Remodeling Refined
I recently hired CREO Remodeling Refined to renovate my home and unfortunately, my experience with the owner, L. Paul Gilliland, was less than satisfactory. At first, Mr. Gilliland provided me with a low estimate for the renovations, but as the work progressed, he continuously requested additional funds that quickly exceeded the original estimate. When I questioned him about the additional costs, he claimed that the materials were more expensive than anticipated and even went as far as to say that I had "expensive taste." He refused to provide me with receipts for the materials and threatened to leave the job if I continued to "harass" him. He also warned me that it would be impossible to find another contractor to complete the job.
During the initial meeting, Mr. Gilliland gave me his business card with the address crossed out. When I asked him about it, he said that he was having new cards printed and promised to give me one once they arrived. However, throughout the five months that he worked on my home, he kept making excuses for not having the new cards and even threatened to leave the job if I continued to ask for them.
After Mr. Gilliland completed the job, I noticed several issues with the bathrooms that needed to be repaired. I tried to contact him multiple times through phone calls and text messages, but he refused to respond. I even sent certified letters to four different addresses that I found for him, but they were all returned to me with the annotation "addressee refused to accept." Since Mr. Gilliland failed to hold up his end of the agreement, I had to hire a plumber to fix the issues, which cost me an additional $355.00.
Overall, my experience with Mr. Gilliland was disappointing and I strongly advise anyone considering hiring him to be cautious. Additionally, I recommend that anyone who does hire him to ensure that he properly reports his earned income to the IRS, as he admitted to having high debt and a gambling habit.
Frustrating Experience with Angi: Unprofessional Repair Person and Poor Service
I recently had an experience with Angi (formerly Angie's List) that left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. I hired a repair person to come and set up a desk for me, and unfortunately, it did not go well.
The first issue was that the repair person did not show up for the second appointment, which meant I had to reschedule and have someone else come out. The third repair person who came was not very good at their job. They took four and a half hours to set up the desk, which was supposed to take an hour and a half. I left them alone to do the work, assuming they were a professional and could handle it, but when I checked in after an hour and a half, they were only halfway done.
The repair person had not followed the instructions properly and had left off most of the hinges, causing the desk to wobble and be unstable. They also stripped the screws to the legs, making it impossible to put them in properly. When I showed them the instructions and asked them to fix it, they had to take down half the panels and start over. Even then, they did not attach all the hinges, leaving me to do it myself.
The repair person also made comments about the hardware being "extra" pieces, which was not true. The desk was missing screws, hinges, and nails, which is why it was so unstable. They also asked me to help them move the desk, which I found unacceptable. I paid for a professional to do the work, not to have me do it for them.
Overall, I was very disappointed with the repair person and the experience I had with Angi. It was frustrating to have to reschedule and deal with someone who was not good at their job. I hope that in the future, Angi can provide better service and ensure that their repair people are properly trained and able to do the work they are hired for.
Beware of Elite Foundation Repairs: Neglectful Actions and Lack of Professional Integrity
I gotta say, I had a pretty bad experience with Elite Foundation Repairs. Honestly, if I had known then what I know now, I would have never even considered using them. It's just a shame that I had to learn the hard way.
So, here's what happened. I was in the process of buying a home and my realtor recommended that I get a structural analyst to assess the foundation. That's when I was referred to Wai Lee from Elite Foundation Repairs. He came out and did his assessment, and then gave me an estimate for $2950 to install 5 piers on the master bedroom side of the home. He said that it was a minor repair and that it didn't need to be done right away.
Fast forward to October of that same year, and I noticed that the tiles in the bathroom were starting to crack. I called Wai Lee back out to reassess the foundation, and that's when he dropped a bombshell on me. He said that the plumbing in the home was 50+ years old and that it was likely that a leak in the slab was the cause of the foundation issues. He also said that the cost to repair and replace the cast iron plumbing could be $30,000 - $50,000 and that a $150 plumbing test for leaks needed to be done before any foundation repair could be completed.
Now, here's the thing. Wai Lee never mentioned any of this during his initial assessment. He never talked about the possibility of a plumbing leak being the cause of the foundation issues, nor did he suggest that a plumbing test could be done to determine if there were any leaks present in the plumbing. If he had, I could have avoided the $21,000 in repair costs that I ended up having to pay for.
I tried to talk to the owner of Elite Foundation Repairs, Jefferie Ellison, about the situation, but he was no help at all. He denied the facts and refused to take any responsibility for his company's neglectful actions. It was a total disregard for customer service and appreciation, and a complete lack of professional integrity and ethics.
So, now I'm exploring all my options for recourse, including legal action. I just hope that by sharing my experience, I can protect others from being put in the same situation as me. And if you don't believe me, just check out the other customer complaints on Better Business Bureau TX.
Angi Review: A Reliable Resource for Finding Local Service Providers
Angi (formerly Angie's List) is a website that provides a platform for homeowners to find and review local service providers. It is a great resource for those who are looking for reliable and trustworthy professionals to help with their home improvement needs. The website is easy to navigate and provides a wealth of information about the service providers listed on the site.
One of the great things about Angi is that it allows homeowners to read reviews from other customers who have used the service providers listed on the site. This can be incredibly helpful in determining which service providers are the best fit for your needs. The reviews are written by real people, so you can trust that they are honest and unbiased.
Another great feature of Angi is that it allows you to search for service providers based on your specific needs. For example, if you need a plumber, you can search for plumbers in your area and read reviews from other customers who have used their services. This makes it easy to find the right service provider for your needs.
One thing to keep in mind when using Angi is that not all service providers listed on the site are created equal. It is important to do your research and read reviews before hiring a service provider. Additionally, it is important to keep in mind that the reviews on the site may not be 100% accurate or reliable. Some reviewers may have had a bad experience with a service provider and may be more likely to leave a negative review, while others may have had a great experience and may be more likely to leave a positive review.
Overall, Angi is a great resource for homeowners who are looking for reliable and trustworthy service providers. It is easy to use and provides a wealth of information about the service providers listed on the site. However, it is important to do your research and read reviews before hiring a service provider to ensure that you are getting the best possible service.
Angi Review: Skewed Reviews, Opaque Membership Agreement, and Frustrating Navigation
Angi (formerly known as Angie's List) is a review site that charges users for services that other review sites offer for free. The site suggests that its reviews are more reliable than others, but I have found no evidence to support this claim. In fact, the site's membership agreement can have serious negative consequences for users.
To participate in Angi, users must accept a membership agreement that can result in perpetual membership and annual fees. The agreement is difficult to understand and includes permission for Angi to disclose any information permitted by relevant law. Additionally, the agreement makes users liable for liquidated damages of up to $10,000 for a single violation of its terms.
Angi seeks to minimize fake reviews by proprietary means, but there is no protection against merchants attempting to buy off bad reviews. Furthermore, Angi reveals the identity of every reviewer to the service provider, which can result in self-suppressed or toned-down reviews. This affects the reliability of Angi's assessments.
Angi accepts advertising from listed providers who wish to offer discounts, but these discounts are only available from A- and B-rated providers.
Site navigation can be frustrating, and customer service can be clueless. Simple inquiries can take up to half an hour.
In conclusion, I do not recommend joining Angi unless users are aware of the site's skewed reviews, unconcerned about their privacy, willing to wade through the extensive and opaque membership agreement, and prepared to opt-out of automatic renewal with written confirmation in hand.
Angi Review: Contractor Promotor or Reliable Source of Information?
Angie's List, now known as Angi, has undergone a transformation since it was acquired by HomeAdvisor. It has become more of an advertising platform for vendors rather than a reliable source of information for consumers. However, my previous experiences with Angie's List were positive, as it was a great resource for finding trustworthy contractors in my local area. I was able to find a house painter, an indoor painter, an electrician, and a handyman with ease.
Recently, I had an issue with my basement sink gurgling every time we flushed the toilet and backing up when we took a shower. I suspected that the problem was with the sewer main, so I turned to Angi for help. I noticed that they now required more information than before, but I proceeded with my search. The top result was a local plumber with five-star ratings, so I decided to go with them. However, I found it strange that they provided a pre-payable price quote online without any communication with the plumber.
The plumber arrived late and spent nearly two hours in the basement before informing me that they couldn't fix the clog and that we needed to replace 70 feet of sewer line. The basement was a mess with fecal matter all over the place, and there were even feculent footprints on an old dresser next to the outlet for the sewer main. The smell was unbearable, and I was skeptical of the plumber's diagnosis. They left us with a card to call for the sewer main replacement, but I decided to seek a second opinion.
I called a neighbor who recommended Ken's Plumbing in Edison. They arrived shortly after the first plumber left and were able to scope and snake the drain in under 45 minutes. They assured us that we did not need to replace the sewer main, and the sewer line was only 50 feet long. They even apologized for the mess, which wasn't theirs, and cleaned up the larger chunks of sewage. They provided us with the cards of reliable professional clean-up experts, and we were able to find one who did an excellent job. Ken's Plumbing charged over $100 less than the original contractor's estimate and less than Angi's pre-pay price. This experience taught me to be skeptical and always negotiate my own price.
As a referral service that profits from taking a cut from each job referred, the modern Angi is more of a contractor promotor than a reliable source of information for consumers. I am unsure if the reviews are curated by Angi, but the plumber that came to us made a mess and told us we needed thousands of dollars of unnecessary work. Without calling another plumber, I would have never known. It is essential to trust professionals to be honest and tell you what needs to be done. Otherwise, you may end up paying for expensive but unnecessary repairs. While contractors may use Angi, it is likely cheaper to find a contractor outside of Angi/HomeAdvisor. Angi's pre-pay option is also likely more expensive than negotiating your own price.
It is challenging to find a site that provides unbiased reviews of local help. Word of mouth seems to be the only reliable way to find trustworthy contractors. While there are many service-type sites available, they all seem to have the same arrangement with the businesses they serve. I will not use Angi in the future and recommend finding a contractor through other means. HomeAdvisor reminds us that the internet is still a bit of a wild west, and it is essential to be cautious when using online services. I do not recommend using Angi.
Angi Review: Incompetent Liars and Fake Leads
Angi, formerly known as Angie's List, is a company that claims to have over 25 years of experience and offers a proprietary software that matches vendors with targeted customers. They promise to eliminate the hassle of bidding against competitors and provide 30 leads within 90 days. However, my experience with Angi has been far from satisfactory.
Instead of receiving quality leads, my company has received multiple fake leads with disconnected numbers, made-up numbers, and even numbers of our competitors. When we do receive actual leads, we end up being one of three to seven different companies quoting on the same services. As a responsible business owner, I contacted Angi to find solutions to these issues, but was met with unresponsive customer managers and empty promises.
After two weeks of waiting for a call back, I received a call from an Angi representative who seemed surprised by my claims and promised to open a case and inspect the leads that had contacted me. However, 38 days have passed since that conversation and no one from Angi has contacted me with solutions to the issues that are occurring. Meanwhile, I have made two payments on the contract and am still receiving fake leads and numerous competitors bidding on the projects.
In my opinion, the people at Angi are incompetent liars who do not uphold the promises they claim. I strongly advise against working with this company and urge others to avoid the frustration and wasted time that I have experienced.
Unsatisfactory Experience with Angi.com: Issues with Contractor, Permits, and Inspection
I recently had a less than satisfactory experience with Angi.com. On Jan 3rd, 2022, I signed a proposal with Angi.com to have work done in my son's room and remodel his handicap accessible bathroom. I found Angi.com while looking for a licensed contractor. I was pleased to see that if I booked through Angi.com and paid through Angi.com, I would get a Dedicated Project Advisor and a Happiness Guarantee. My Project Advisor, Matt Zahlmann, told me he had a great licensed contractor that he would like to send to my home and give us a proposal. That person turned out to be Chris Hernandez, who gave my wife a business card with License number 1029414. I signed the proposal of $16347.00 and was told I had to pay half up front before they start work, so I paid through Angi.com $8161.00.
Chris started the work on Jan 10th, 2022, and he brought two workers with him to do the demo. They sealed off the hallway that leads to the bathroom and my son's room and used the backdoor in my son's room to gain entrance and Chris then left. Unfortunately, because I was having the work done through Angi.com, I thought everything was being taken care of with permits and getting a shower that would pass inspection. On Jan 20th, we got a knock on our front door and was told everything was done and they left. I inspected the bathroom and found all kinds of mistakes. I contacted Matt through text and sent him pictures. Matt text me back and said he would have someone come out to fix everything that still needs to be fixed. I told him I would not pay until the bathroom can pass inspection.
Matt then told me that there were no structural changes made to the shower, so the only thing that an inspector would come out to check would be the plumbing, and the plumbing only. Both permits and inspections are on the homeowner, being that the project wasn't permitted, if an inspector comes out to take a look at the plumbing, he is going to want the bathroom demoed to see what was done. I text him back that was not true with a link to prove it. Matt then offered me a $500 price concession and assured me that the work was done properly. I then asked Matt to please send me a detailed invoice of all work done with Chris's full name and License number. When I got that information, I looked at up the Contractor's License number and found that it did not even belong to Chris, but to an OSCAR VEGA-MORALES, sole owner with no employees. I sent that info to Matt and his manger Max Sloven. I got an email from Max stating that they were working through a proper resolution.
Yesterday, Jan 28th, I got an email from Matt that said I needed to pay my final payment in the amount of $8,916. He said that the contractor who was hired to do my project is a professional and has fully completed my scope. Additionally, when I pointed out an area of concern, he willingly came back to amend and resolve the area in question. The contractor needs to be compensated for the work that has been completed. If after the inspector comes and finds an issue with the work, they ask that I file a happiness guarantee claim. They also warned that if payment is not received, they will resort to any means necessary to collect the payment which includes but not limited to, sending me to a collection agency, legal letter or placing a lien on my home.
Overall, I am not happy with the experience I had with Angi.com. I want a bathroom that is done by a Licensed Contractor that can pass inspection.
Angi (formerly Angie's List) Review: A Pro's Perspective on the Pros and Cons of the Service
I'm a 5-Star Certified Angi (formerly Angie's List) Pro with 100% positive feedback. I take pride in my work and care about my customers. However, there have been times when Angi's services and policies fall short of promises made to customers, putting me in a compromising position. As an independent contractor/expert, I have had to either make it right or ask customers for more money than what was quoted for the job. If they refuse to pay, I am forced to leave the job. Angi support says, "I am under no obligation to stay if the customer refuses to pay."
One customer recently purchased a kids bunk bed from an Angi partner, such as Target, Wayfair, Walmart, or Costco, for about $600, which included $492 for assembly. The job required two "professionals" to show up for 2 hours, but I was the only one who did. Out of the $492 that the customer paid, I only received $38.50. It's hard to believe, but we get paid for our time, not per job. $38.50 is for 2 hours worth of work. If the job takes longer than what is estimated, which often happens, it puts us in a compromising position to have to ask the customer directly for more money.
In this example, had the other guy shown up, everything would have been OK for the customer. But now, in order to get it done, so the customer could have a bed for her kids, I had to extend my time another 2 hours (cancelling other jobs) and request Angi for more money. Asking Angi to do what's right is ridiculously hard and time-consuming (unpaid time) and a bit like pulling teeth from a crocodile. They refer me back to "the customer" to ask for more money. Sometimes when I have done this, especially when I was new, it puts me in a very awkward situation. But in the end, after much to do, I stayed on this job, finished it up, put my best work into it, and got another $38.50 for the additional two hours. And a tip from the customer.
This is one of many incidents where the "machine" breaks down, and I had to collaborate with customers to get paid from Angi for the rightful pay for hours I spend doing the work. Angi, from my observation, really does not care about either of us in that process any more than a packing machine cares about the meat it's packing. It's a machine. It works. But there's no heart or humanity, or soul, especially when the system breaks down.
It has happened many times, especially due to shipping delays during Covid, that customers are told that the "Pro" is bringing the item they purchased by Walmart or Costco, and when I get there, the customer and I are looking at each other, both thinking that the other person has it. When that happens, I need to explain to the disillusioned customer that "No, I do not have the item you purchased." It is being delivered by the manufacturer, and I am a local handyman who works for an outfit called Angi, who outsourced/made a deal with the company you purchased from to do the assembly work. Then they need to call Walmart, or Angi, or Target or whoever, to try to reschedule the assembly as I leave.
Customers frequently lament about trying to cancel or reschedule jobs, and it doesn't get done, and I show up when they had canceled. That's when they tell me about their experience; an overall lack of/poor customer service. I have so many more stories. I have done over 100 jobs, and I think you get the point. Not everything about Angi is bad. Like other 'gig economy' business models, it gets people who would not ordinarily meet in the same local area to meet. And that's a good thing. And it gets people like me with a valuable skill set, active and doing something constructive, between jobs and other sources of income. And most of the other "Pros" I've met along the way are good guys.
What Angi calls "certified" is not much of an assurance of anything honestly, except to give the perception to the customer that there's some sort of "vetting" going on. As I said earlier, it's a machine, backed by legal ease, and at the end of the day, they have no clue who's entering your home.
The economy created by Angi and its partners' huge price differential between what it charges its customers and what "Pros" actually receive is not a healthy one. When you add in the cost of travel and tolls and parking to the already very low rates that Angi is paying its "Pros," you realize that if this was a "Professional's" only income, they would be at or below poverty level in the United States.
The problem is when you invite people who are willing to work at such a low income level into your home; some who could be desperate for paying the rent, supporting a family, may have an addiction, etc., there could be consequences. Especially as inflation rises and the economy falters. Consequences which Angi is protected against from a liability standpoint, just like Big Pharma cannot be prosecuted for adverse reactions to a vaccine, but your home and your family are not protected from. The machine protects itself.
The Angi sales machine (which probably gets paid on commission for getting as many jobs booked as they can) are happy to sell you the wonders of their services. They will tell you that we "Expert Professionals" can install anything (for less than a contractor). I've seen it happen. Even 2nd and 3rd visits by Pros, getting customer's hopes up, only to arrive to tell the customer the same thing; that the job requires a licensed contractor (My father was a licensed electrician so I know) and we (as Pros) do not have the same level of tools, experience or license, and the job is clearly beyond the scope of what a Handyman Pro can safely do at a customer's house.
I do recommend Angi to customers in the hopes that they find an honest handyman and create a relationship with them, even though if Angi finds out, they will fine the Professional $100 and slap them on the wrist. But hey, that may be cheaper (and safer) for you, the potential consumer, and more lucrative for the "Pro" in the long run.
If I could give 0 stars I would
If I could give 0 stars I would. We listed with Angi as a contractor. We were promised *** leads a week for our heat and air business through Angi Ads for 600$ a month. The problems started from the very beginning. We were told the background checks would take only *** hours to process, it took over a week and several phone calls to get anywhere FOR OUR ACCOUNT TO EVEN BE ACTIVE. When I called our advisor to figure out what was going on "his forecast" for us changed drastically. The number went from *** and 90 for a month total to 4-8 in the next 30 days! We called and we were assigned to a different account manager/advisor. Well, after trying to contact him for several days and getting no response we called in yet again and were assigned to a new advisor (THE THIRD ONE) who then informed us that there was a 35% early cancellation fee for the remainder of the year (1900$$!). Not only have we been given the run around but out of the meniscal amount of leads given we have not even been able to contact any of them, minus one! They have aggressive, manipulative, straight up DISHONEST sales tactics. They lied straight to our faces without batting an eye and now refuse to let us out of a contract that they lied to us to get into and conveniently forgot to tell us about ANY early termination fees. We are a small business with a young family. Its literally just my husband and I running this thing and working and this is devastating to not only our business but also our family. How these sales guys sleep at night? I have no clue! This is the worst lead company we have yet to come across. We signed up with another at the same time that was pay by the lead and we've made 5000$ off of 100$ spent to get the leads. ANGI ADS IS A JOKE! DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR CON-ARTIST SALESMAN SWEET WORDS! They even went so far as to tell us that just off Angi we would be making 5000$ a week and possibly 25k a MONTH since "our area didn't have many contractors like us"! We aren't dumb, we knew that was unrealistic for us because those numbers were huge, but to not even get the money back that you spend with this worthless company to "advertise" (which they don't even do) is off the chart infuriating, insane, and HIGHLY unethical. You would have a better chance of making money if you threw money in a barrel, burned it, called the fire department, and asked what they might need done for the station or their private homes than you do with Angi and that is no exaggeration. RUN FAR AWAY FROM ANGI LEADS AND ANGI ADS!
I didnt know they had issues. I had no choice. I ordered through *** and the email was from angi. They lie when they try and help. I had them reschedule me and when I waited 4 hours I called angi had nothing for that day. So when they assemble my bed Im done
I used Angies list in another state way back in *** and loved the service for its reliable and truthful assessment of workers for home improvement/repair projects. Sadly, my experience yesterday has left me confused and disappointed in this "new" version called Angie. The sales rep told me a worker would be assigned that could do the job I described as installation of four closet systems that all would need to be cut to fit to size of the closets. A job that will take hours if not a couple of days. The Angie rep was adamant that the assigned contractor would bring whatever tools needed for the job. So I agreed to joining Angi for the yearly fee and was instructed on going to my angie website to contact the assigned contracter for this job. At the website the details listed for this job had been misrepresented as a small to medium job (even though "shelving" was listed under large jobs). And, the web page clearly states that angi contractors only bring simple tools and any special tools must be provided by customer at job site. I left two messages on assigned contractor link to discuss the real nature of the job but no response. I then called customer service and explained my disappointment in how Angi team was misrepresenting my job request and the false information about who provides tools needed for job. I asked Angi customer service to cancel this job request and my Angi membership. The customer service agent eventually agreed to do both of these requests. He promised I would receive two emails confirming each cancellation..I received the email for cancellation of membership but never received an email for cancellation of the job. I was able to cancel the job at the web site but will be paying $25 to $50 for cancellation. Angi is using is missing the "local feel". This current system seems to be one designed to "capture" a customer with a hard sales pitch to pay membership and yet lied about all the important information needed for job.
They are crooked as a question mark. Everyone at Angi should be in handcuffs.
I signed up for the service in October 2022 for roof leads. Before I even downloaded the app they committed wire fraud for $73 . They reversed the charges since it was false leads and I didnt even have approval or the means to accept calls. While the guy who signed me up turned off my leads until I had time to review the app. They continued to charge for additional leads I did not receive or was supposed to receive. I put stop payments at my bank for services not reviewed. Now they want to try a collection agency. I will be filing a lawsuit tomorrow in *** county *** as well as making complaints with the Secretary of State and other agencies overseeing this kind of business. I have records of timelines and events that happened. If you are a contractor do not use any Angi product. Angi, Angi leads, home advisor, etc.
This js a review from a contractor: Angies list a proffessional company with proffessional licenseing, however there whole buisness and money
This js a review from a contractor: Angies list a proffessional company with proffessional licenseing, however there whole buisness and money makeing techniques are desined to scam you out of as much money as they possibly can. I was a brand new buisness that started up in janurary of 2021 and was looking to get customers. I looked into angies list and the idea of $300 a month as a reliable marketing number each month seemed good to a new buisness such as myswlf since I didnt have any clue about marketing numbers at the time. They informed me over the phone the buisnesses equal to mine, that spent as much money as i was planning on with them each month got somewhere close to 25 leads a month. That was there first scam, because what they really mean when they use the word "lead" is that someone in the area files a project request with angies list and angies list sends you and multiple other people this project request, and now its up to you to call this consumer quickly and make sure you get there before others. Over that last year i have never once received a direct lead from my angies list account nor have I recieve a phone call from someone that looked over my angies list accout. The next scam they use, and this is the lre bread and butter to makeing money, is they force you to pay %30 of contractor of whats left you want to stop ussing there services. So as a first time buisness owner i found that after about 3 months of use i didnt need them at all any more and wanted to cancel, but i didnt have to the money to pay to cancel to stop using a service i wasnt even happy with from the begining. Fyi thats 9 months left on a 12 month minimum contract they make you sign. So at 30% thats $810 i woulf have to pay inorder to stop using a service i didnt like. I just kept paying $300 a month cause it was easyer to do that than cancel. Lastly they promise only proffessionals to there customers. Well concumers have a very wide range of definitions about what a proffessional is. Angies list definition of a proffessional is, have an llc and have a license in the field of work your working in. If your state doesnt require a license than you just have to have an llc. Thats it, no other process, to determine how "proffessional" you or your company is. Angies list used to be good when it made the consumer pay and contractors were free and reviews and ratings on there site determined a contractors visibility to the consumer. But now its just about how much you pay angieslist is what determines your visibility. Do yourself a favor and do a weeks worth of research on how to propley set up a google ad and save your self from this nightmare of a company. I use google ads now and get 5+ leads a day for a quarter of the price.
After years of using Angi's List and recommending them, the new "Angi" is a total disaster on all fronts, I'll only give an example of one. Requested a quote for tree removal service, received a quote for $1250.51...after waiting through 4 no show appointments in a month, someone finally arrived without an appointment. Angi contacted me with a new quote of $2, 051. Responded that this was too expensive and that I would not have the tree removed. Imagine my surprise when I received my credit card statement and I was charged $1250.51 for no service! They have credited my account, however, after several calls to my bank and Angi. Would never recommend them again, for anything. Actually, it's a shame, as they used to provide such high quality service. Their new format sucks!
As a former employee, I can corroborate that Angi uses deceptive, misleading and unfair business tactics from the interview on. They consistently over-promise, inflate success and under-deliver while making excuses for their shortcominings, problematic business structure, policies, and compensation as well as failure to deliver as promised. I was told they had an 85% retention rate for my position. Turns out it's just 2%. The company is like the Wizard of Oz. They sell employees, homeowners, and contractors on being this great and powerful wizard. Meanwhile, taking from you whatever they want under that guise. For employees, it's your time. You are penalized for using PTO. For everyone else, they just want your money. They are uninsterested and unwilling to listen to feedback and complaints, and instead coach employees to believe that all contractors are liars. They never see themselves as the problem, even though they're the common denominator. In the time I was employed, I spoke to hundreds of contractors. Daily, I would speak to an individual who had legitimate feedback about their negative experience. I was trained to not apologize for their experience, but instead find ways to blame them for the failure of the product. The work environment is so unprofessional and hostile, I can legitimately define the company as pychologically and emotionally abusive to employees. We were trained on how to be coercive, misleading, evasive, and verbally abusive to prospective customers to force them to buy or force them to hang up on us. We were encouraged to be evasive about the price of the product. Companies that have something of value to sell, don't need to hide their price. They seek out contractors that are desparate for help that they would do anything, and teach employees how to use their pain to manipulate them into buying the product. This is the only company I've worked for whereby I felt like they don't treat employees as if they're human beings.
I needed an emergency roof repair and decided to use the Angi service to book it. They rescheduled me five times over two weeks and never completed the job. If you call the phone number it only loops around with a message to use their app. Totally peeved. Totally useless.
so that people like me have confidence in hiring responsible companies that do know how to do their job professionally and on time.

I am very unhappy to learn that as a consumer who used to use Angie's List to read reviews for home improvement projects for my home, that the new Angi is now owned by ***. My experiences with *** are, despite me never having used ***, is calls trying to sell me unwanted services. Now I learn they own Angi (Angie's List) so they must have gotten my personal information from Angi. As a consumer, I am now afraid to access the Angi website for fear that it will give them permission to use my personal information to market *** and other unwanted services to me.On Angie's List, I got to look at all the reviews and ratings for various companies, and I got to make my own decision about which of those companies to call. Now, we can no longer read reviews! All of that is gone! This has just turned Angi into nothing more than another *** website where you blindly enter your information and then have a bunch of random sketchy companies call. These may be horrible companies; do you get to do your due diligence as a homeowner on these companies? No. Did homeowners get to background check the owners and employees? No. Can homeowners read complaints about the businesses? No. Do we homeowners get to read reviews of what other people think of their service? No. This is why I do not use *** and why I will not use the "new improved" (read: new and much worse) Angi. The original owner of Angie's List should be ashamed to put her name on this new "service."I want all of my personal data removed from Angi AND *** (since they must have skimmed it from Angi as they have called me) as I no longer trust them. It also appears from other reviews that they encourage false reviews and encourage businesses to pay people for reviews and solicit for reviews. But there is nothing but an 888 number to call, which is a *** number! I called to get my information removed and they answered "Home Advisors." I called Angi and requested that they remove my personal information and the agent purposefully hung up on me. Called back and the rep I spoke with did not provide a satisfactory solution. I tried to get them to change my email address, but it appears my personal information is indelibly linked with one email address. Angi does not allow us to change the email address on our account?! What?! I have a certain way I want my account managed, and I don't want them messing with my account without being absolutely certain they understand what I want. They sent me a link to create another account. I don't want that. I need for someone high up in the company to reach out. This company is no longer run by the original owner of Angie's List. It is run by ***. My advice is stay far, far away!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
When I requested a contractor to remove the old water and install the new water heater, the representative booked a handyman for this job. I then visited the Municipal Building in ***. Only to find out the plumber has to be licensed. In closing, Angi needs to be familiar with the Township's Law when it comes to booking a contractor to provide a service that requires the contractor to be licensed. Ignorance is no excuse under the Law.
"Angi" is a farce. A lot of people don't know that yet. Eventually the people will, and the Angi farce will go down. I'm not going to spend a lot of time on a "review" that nobody reads. It's all junk. I've gotten burned - never again though. Never again the Angi farce.
I signed up with receive a quote for a plumbing job from Angi. I ultimately ended up doing it myself, however I am still receiving multiple spam calls a day. They also clearly released my email to spam companies, as I get 10 spam emails a day now (ie. Confirm your AirPods receipt, $1M in Fidelity life insurance). This shouldnt even be called a business - they are TERRIBLE and should be shut down.
Great people good work. Honest. And great communication. Will get them to do my siding on my house next.
I'm a contractor and was a service provider on Angies List for 10 years with an A rating
I'm a contractor and was a service provider on Angies List for 10 years with an A rating. They are horrible. In the beginning the service was pricey, but worked well. Over the years I'd have to talk to a new sales manager every 6 months, they constantly change and I had to explain my business over and over, it got tiring. They kept trying to upsell, add to the thousands I'd spend advertising. I once (more than once actually) had a manager tell me he had an opportunity cross his desk I may be interested in. To the tune of a few more thousand more they'd help land me more work. You have to watch them, there's more gimmicks and sales tactics than I can count. The past few years calls seemed to drop off, especially the last. In my opinion it became a waste of money and their service was awful. Once *** purchased the quality went straight downhill in my opinion. I never even spoke to my last account manager. Not because I wouldn't, I doubt he exists. He never called, never responded to emails, never returned a call or voicemail and there were many. Same for the main line, main email address. Non responsive yet they want my yearly contract money. I could only email since nobody responds so I asked some questions. No answer from anyone. I chatted online to get a person to tell them I'm canceling, they supposedly notified my account manager. I talked to someone online and said I was not renewing, do not renew me. Of course I got the new price in an email, but he never ever responded to questions. I wanted to know what towns, details, make sure all was the same because the calls dropped way off. They typically send a contract to sign online, they did not. I adamantly emailed and left voicemails not to renew saying service was lousy. You'd think they'd take care of a 10 year customer. What did they do? They went into my bank account and took the money in full for the year. I got it reversed by printing all the emails they ignored (20 pages) and faxing them to my bank. They took it again, then from my credit card. I had to change my card number and block them from my bank account. I assumed we were square but they paid me twice in the confusion which I was unaware of. If they answered the phone I'd have heard their side. They did call to say I'll take your card number over the phone. I didn't call back because any response I wanted in writing at that point. Why in the world would I give them my info again after fraudulently taking money from my accounts 3 times without a signed contract. They sent it to collection which was extreme, I should have sued them, I paid them. I'd never ever use this service again. The customer is not their concern, they simply don't care. When you ask what you're getting before you agree nobody responds."
I am an Angi member. I hired Angi to replace a shower valve. The plumber they sent replaced the valve and it leaked. I had to pay for materials. Angi sent a second plumber to fix the leak. I have to pay for materials again. Angi would not cover the replacement of materials although it was the fault of the plumber they sent. They brag about their guarantee but it is limited.
NOTHING like the old Angie's List, which was sold the these guys. IF I want to see reviews, the contractor gets notified, and will call me. That costs the contractor about *** dollars (as I have been told). I would like to do my homework without getting ad nauseum calls, from subpar overpriced contractors. I like to do my due diligence, and I will decide who to call after looking at the person's webpage...or call him/her if they have no webpage. The Angie does not facilitate my doing my due diligence... it simply puts my number out to contractors who then try to solicit my business. The new Angi is of NO Value to me trying to properly and intelligently find a good contractor with a minimum of hassle from those who do not perform according to my standards. It is a waste of my time, and the contractor's money. I do not have confidence that the reviews are as accurate as the old Angie's List reviews. I think the best contractors will likely not be on Angi.. for the reasons I do not wish to try using Angi myself. It is essentially not a trustworthy organization imho, and does not facilitate a consumer's trying to find the best person for the job.
I would never use this service again. Now $5k in debt, paying for 'leads' I never won. Out of 110leads, I won 6. The majority of those leads never responded back. A couple of times I replied to a 'lead' via text and the customer wasn't at the home and the house was empty--lol. Since I signed up with Angi, spam *** had increased. If you are a contractor, you are better off doing *** ads and creating a website. Avoid Angi like the plague!
Been with Angi for a year now. Decided it may be a useful tool for filling out gaps during the slow season and the majority of the time Ive had the leads paused. Its a scam. They knowingly falsify the homeowners ready to hire status. They also manipulate the opportunity tab to recycle old leads and falsely claim that the homeowner approved your interest to connect I can go on and on but I can say with certainty that this business should be further investigated and dissolved. Keep away!
I was contacted by a representative of Angi with an offer when I got my contractor license.
I was contacted the day I received my contractor's license by a representative of Angi with an offer to sign up for their services in exchange for leads. Initially, I declined, but after several calls, I was persuaded that I could receive leads for dock repairs in my area at about $15 each. After discussing with my partner, who also works in public education, we decided to take the risk. However, I was charged for leads outside my service area or for new construction, which I don't provide. Despite assurances that the leads would meet my criteria, the issue persisted. I was even charged for a duplicate lead. Angi claimed I was paying for SEO services, not leads, which contradicted the initial agreement. Attempts to resolve the issue were unsuccessful, and my request for a partial refund was denied. The company's aggressive sales tactics and failure to deliver on promises have led me to believe they lack integrity and should be avoided.
I contacted Angi's list online and asked three of their approved contractors for quotes
I contacted Angi's list online and asked three of their approved contractors for quotes. Before the contractors could provide me with quotes, a lady by the name of *** called me after I had left a recording stating in detail, the kind of work that I needed done. *** asked me for a credit or debit card number and then proceeded to tell me how much they would charge minus whatever parts needed to be purchased or used for the repair. I asked her who was the contractor that they were going to send out and could I contact them directly or have them contact me so that I could explain to them what I needed done. She kept going on about all of their contactors having at least a 4.2 star rating and all of them being licensed, bonded, and insured. She never told me who the contractor was or gave me their contact information. After she got my card information, she just kept giving me that run-a-round. The work was scheduled to be done on Thursday, September 1, at 11:00 am. This *** shows up on time, all he has is my address. No phone number or name. He is not prepared to do that kind of work that I required. He told me later on that they had just told him to bring his tools, and that I would have the parts. That was not true. He also told me that he was not licensed, insured, or bonded. He was very enthusiastic and since he had been sent out by Angi's list and basically setup to fail, I let him repair the existing door frame. In reality. I had really want it replaced. It had been damaged for a while and we could not use the side door. So we desperately needed to have it fixed and I explained that to *** and to him. He told me that he had a two hour window to perform any work to be done. So he didn't even have enough time to run to *** or Lowes and get some supplies to replace the door frame and really didn't have the expertise or experience to do so. Angi's list charged $181.50 to my debit card. $100.00 of that was for parts which were not purchased. Remember, he was told that i had the parts. Angi's list send me a survey and I raked them over the coals. I let them know exactly how I felt and that they had over charged me. Sent me someone who was not well informed of the job. And had not provided the contactor or myself with contact information so that we could connect and talk before the job. And that he was not licensed, bonded, or insured. I told the *** that he had basically been setup for failure and I am sure most people would have give him a low rating but I gave him a good rating because he had been misled and it wasn't his fault. I know that I am not going to recover any money phone them and this is just a hard *** learned. I had dealt with HomeAdvior previously and they did a great job. I tried Angi's list at a friend's suggestion. Never again will i use their services nor recommend them to anyone.
My experience with angie.com's was one of the worst customers service experiences I've had in my whole entire life
My experience with angie.com's was one of the worst customers service experiences I've had in my whole entire life. We hired a contractor there to install the fence not only did he not install the fence he did way some standard work that was verified by other fence installers that were listed on various Angie platforms. While the customer service reps seem to be interested in sympathetic to your experience in the end they don't have any means in which to help you recover funds that were taken from you by a dishonest contractor. The contractor was not only dishonest and we are out $2,500 but he was also bigoted. Angie doesn't even bother to follow its own rules about contractor conduct. He was rude and he sent several inappropriate text messages and they were given copies of these and yet he still remains on their platform. The only thing I was able to do was to leave a bad review but then even that was ruined because they sent us to arbitration at fairclaims.com. the arbitrator not only did not read my evidence but also acted as if I was just a little lady who should stand in the corner while the men talked. Hedid not issue an opinion he just refers to referred me back to look at receipts and when my witness commented on the receipts he then decided that he was going to just dismiss the case without prejudice. He awarded me nothing. We had tried to reach a settlement with the contractor and we did a post-arbitration settlement but that is not legally enforceable and I'm pretty sure I'm never going to see any money. What's worse is when it was bought to Angie's attention that the contractor had referred to me as a d*** (I believe he thought he was talking to my partner) it was simply blown off. Anyway, l removed the bad review as part of trying to get him to settle with us so now this contractor is on both Angie and HomeAdvisor with 100% approval rating. We are out $2,500 which we cannot afford as I am disabled in my partner is a veteran. When I contacted Angie asking them to please do something about this whole situation I'm simply reminded that they have a policy that where they're not responsible really for the conduct of their contractors. They just keep sending me copies of their disclaimers about how they're not responsible for anything ok. So what is the point of Angie? It's just an advertising platform for contractors. They would rather have the contractors' money than the satisfaction of people duped into hiring bad contractors from their site. You might you have might just have good luck picking somebody off *** I'm left with trying to get help from the attorney general's office of the *** but I'm not too sure that they'll be able to help me. I'm not sure I can actually even take this contractor as a small claims court since l was told about this great arbitration by Angie. The arbitration may have taken away my right to take him to small claims court. Beware Angie does not stand behind its customers.
CONTRACTOR ADVERTISING BEWARE!
CONTRACTOR ADVERTISING BEWARE!Be Sure To Turn Down The Auto Renew From The Start, IF NOT CONTRACT WILL CONTINUE AFTER END OF YOUR CONTRACT. SCAMMER ALERT! Was a paying member Of Angies List for 1 year (January -January ), let me remind you, $1,250.00 a month for 12 months, which equals $15,000.00 for the year. Didn't work out as much as we thought & what they promised, in which we paid in full as we were under contract. Took a huge loss, not even making $5,000.00 off the leads that came in (Yes, I'm being generous on that amount), if they came in. Days, Maybe even a week long of no new leads that would not come in, but still, had no problem taking out payment at the end of the month. I noticed most leads were bogus leads, leads that would come in & have a fake address (for example, address would be an empty lot, government buildings, an address that didn't even exist, etc.), fake emails that didn't exist, phone #'s that belonged to other peoples phones that had nothing to do with submitting an inquiry. Fast forwarding to the end of our contract, in which, once again we paid $15,000.00 for the year. SURPRISE! Our contract auto renews without us even knowing that there was an auto renew in-play. YES! SURPRISE! I was a pissed at this point. Why? They continued to charge us, first month of the auto renew contract for the amount of $1,313.00, more than what they were charging us for from last year. Why the difference? I couldn't tell you because our Senior Client Success Manager-Jenny Grubbs Or Jenn Grubbs, Whatever name she goes by, failed to keep us in form. She sent us 1 email, 1 freaking email on December 18th about the end of our contract, stating that we would need to finalize before the end of January. I Never finalized for the fact that I wasn't aware of the auto renew, I took it upon myself that it would just cancel on its own. I never agreed to any auto renew terms at the beginning of the contract, AS THEY DO NOT MENTION IT TO YOU VERBALLY, BUT WILL DEFINITELY PUT IT IN THE CONTRACT WITHOUT YOU KNOWING. I also did miss her email, I never seen it. IT WAS THE HOLIDAYS! She never followed up with a phone call, talking about our auto renew or if I wanted to go another year with them. You would think a company would follow up several times about a auto renew contract, NOPE! NOT JENNY GRUBBS. Immediately contacted our Senior Client Success Manager (Whatever That Means) Jenny Grubbs, about the situation as she stated, there's nothing she can do, as I asked for a refund & cancellation of our contract. She specially mentioned "A Refund Will Not Be Issued" as it was in our contract. SCAMMER ALERT! I contacted our bank and they issued a reimbursement, thankful for date, as they will be investigating. I mentioned to Jenny (Via Email) if I can get a phone call from a supervisor, as she states, "My Manager Works With Companies Who Are Advertising". WOW! After we just spent $15,000.00 the previous year, we are not allowed to speak to a supervisor for a complaint. She's A JOKE! No Customer Service Skills Whatsoever. I'll continue to leave my bad experience on every site possible so that other people/companies don't fall into the trap we fell into.
Angi Complaints 24
I was deceived
I was deceived. A fraud was perpetrated on me. The angies list employee I spoke to who sold me on advertising with them and signing a years contract for $4800 flat out lied to me. If I give him the benefit of the doubt then maybe he wasn't trained properly and just didn't understand that what he was telling me was not true. I made a decision to sign a contract and agreed to pay $400 per month for twelve months based on the incorrect information I was provided. The FACT that I was provided incorrect information is not in dispute. Both Nick A and another person who tried to keep me from cancelling, Derek F, have acknowledged I was provided with false information. Nick acknowledged so much in an email he sent me. Whether it was done intentionally or not really doesn't matter regarding my situation. I based my decision to advertise on this incorrect information. As soon as I learned the information was false I communicated to angies list in writing my desire to cancel. They told me they have a process that takes days for that cancellation to take place. During this time they try to talk you out of cancelling. They also let your advertising run so they are earning their $400 for the first month. It's a really well set up system to put as much money in their pockets as possible. They provided my company with NO VALUE and somehow can justify they should be compensated for that zero value to the tune of $1940. Mr F told me on the phone that he determined that "the incorrect information that Mr. A had provided was not sufficient cause for cancelling" and that they were still going to charge me the 35% cancellation fee...This all started back on January 14 when Angies List sent us an email congratulating us on being a super service Award Winner for 2019. The email said to contact them about how to accept the award. We were interested in learning more about how this award could help us generate more business so I called. I went back and forth with Nick A of angies List for several weeks. I had a lot of questions. Mostly they centered around how the award could help differentiate us from our competitors on angies list. Nick told me that we were the only certified company in our category that was also a super service award winner and that because of this we would appear at the top of the page when an angies list member searched for services we offered and we would stand out as the ONLY company BOTH certified AND a super service award winner. I asked him several times during several different phone conversations if we were the ONLY company in our category that was BOTH certified AND a super service award winner. He said that was in fact the case each time I asked this. Based on these assurances we felt it was worth signing up for angies List advertising program. By the way, i was never informed we did not have to sign up for an entire year. From other companies complaints I have read it appears angies list also offers a three month contract. Shame on Nick for not divulging this. Just another way I was deceived. On February 5 I completed the electronic contract and signed it electronically. $400 was charged to our credit card. During my conversations with Nick I did ask about the cancellation policy and I understood we would pay 35% of the outstanding balance if we cancelled early. Nick told me that during the following week an on boarding person would call me and walk me through how to use their system and get the most benefit from it. Late in the day on February 12 I got a call from a Scott who said he wanted to help me learn about how to use the system. I spent twenty minutes or so on the phone with him and on the angies list site. When I entered my information as a test case not only did our company not come up but other companies showed up with the same credentials that I was assured were ones ONLY we would have for the next year. Yikes! I was confused, worried, and immediately started asking what the heck was going on. Scott couldn't answer my questions and suggested a conference call the next day. I said that was fine and that we needed to get to the bottom of this as this was not what I was promised. After doing more research that evening I sent an email to nick A stating I had made a decision to advertise based on being provided false information by him and wanted to cancel immediately. He emailed me back assuring me he didn't mean to mislead me and that "this was not a sham in any way". He wrote "I didn't lie to you" and that this was all just a misunderstanding and could be explained. I am sorry but the time to explain how things work is BEFORE you provide someone with information so they make a decision to sign a contract. Explain how everything works BEFORE the contract is signed so your customer has all the facts and can make a decision based on correct information. I finally spoke with Mr F on or around February 22. We went around in circles for almost thirty minutes. He was not trying to understand my position and what had gone on between the salesperson, Mr A and me. All he was interested in was trying to convince me not to cancel. When he finally realized my mind was made up he then informed me they were going to charge us the 35% cancellation fee. During our conversation he kept using the phrases "to be perfectly honest" and "I thought I could reel you in". He wasn't interested in what happened and how it could be avoided in the future and how to make things right. All he was interested in was saving the sale. It was sleazy. As of March 5 angies list charged our debit card for the 35% cancellation fee of $1540. They had already charged us $400 for the first month for which we received NOTHING!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I have had problems with Angie's List since the day I signed up
I have had problems with Angie's List since the day I signed up. First of all I was told that my credit card would not be bill until they completed the background check. Did not happen it was run as fast I gave them the number. Second I see that they use the same platform for profiles as ***. I am very familiar with how to fill this information out. But they made a mistake and I had 2 accounts one being a non paid account and not accredited and the other being a paid account accredited. The one non paid account ( I did not know at the time there was 2 accounts) was the one I filed my information on to. They had a person calling me to explain how to file out the information needed for my account. I explained to them that I had already filed out the information. They said that was not possible for they do not see anything. All of this was while I was on a job trying to work. Again I told her I do know that I filed it out and she needed to look into it. Apparently everyone I have encountered with Angie's List has no idea how to listen to their customers. I immediately sent an email to my account manger in this regards.(Ken ***) Never got an answer back. I sent another to reach out to someone else, never a reply. I called and they found out that I had two accounts and that they would merge the two. This was going on two weeks now and that never happened and I took my time to fill out the other account to get the advertising going. Now I have lost 2 weeks that I had paid for and never got anything in return until I was leaving the company did they even apologize and still say "so what you had 2 account you should be thankful". Really? At the time of signing up I was promised no less than 12 leads a month for $300 a month. Never was there a discussion of early termination fees. I was to the understanding that this was a month to month thing. As time goes on I am not seeing the 12 leads that I was promised and I am writing to my account manage asking what is going on? never a response. I continued to write to the new account manger listed on my account page, it took them over a week to respond to the fact that I was being billed by Angie's List and HomeAdivisor for the same leads. The response was basically talk to *** about it. I did, not much happened and it happened even after that. Now it is coming up on my 3rd month and I am absolutely fed up with the fact that no one at Angie's list will listen to what I have to say and call me when I am with customers so I end up hanging up on them. My next move was to stop using Angie's List and stop this unneeded madness and the fact that I am now over $600 in the loss using them. Most of the leads that they generated to me were not useable leads. I am a home inspector I do not do pictures recording for a home owner who is digging roots out of his yard. I do not do punch list on homes that need work. I do not want to do insurance inspections that only pay $100 when I am paying premium for a service. I relayed this to my account manger and his response was to list the things you do not do in your profile. Sorry by now I am done I am at a point of no return. So I send an email to my 3rd account manger ken St John saying I am done cancel my membership today! do not bill me anymore I have wasted enough time with this company and need to move on. This was sent in the middle of August well before my next billing date. In return I get a email saying that my account manger is out of town for a week. I called repeat ably telling them just cancel my account and do it now I do not want to be billed by Angie's List anymore. Finally after 3 maybe 4 days I demand to speak to a supervisor again they tell me no one is on duty at this time and no one can call me back nor would they put me through to a voice mail. I called them out on that saying your telling me that for the last 3 days no supervisor is on duty? and I finally got a supervisor on the phone. During that recorded conversation (recorded on my business line) he assured me that my account is going to be closed immediately and I would not be billed any further from Angie's List. Just to be sure I went into my account and deleted all my billing information. Now after that I have this guy Ken St John calling me like crazy and telling he I have a early termination to pay. I tell him that is ridiculous with all I have had to endure with your company and all the time I have wasted? He continues to call and email I keep telling him the same thing I am done do not call or email me unless it is to tell me my account is closed. He is relentless and just like everyone else I have talk to does not hear what I am telling him and continue to try and justify the actions of Angie's List and tries to say this is my fault. I can not work with a company who will not even admit when they have done wrong. I have made it clear for over 2 weeks that I will not do business with Angie's List anymore take my account down! All the time I have wasted being on the phone and emails just to close my account is beyond ridiculous. Is my time not valuable? So now I feel like I am being extorted by Angie's List if I stay they will not charge me the early cancellation fee ( that I was not aware of nor did I have a copy). Which brings me to another issue. They at the end claim that the cancellation fee in in my contract on part that is internet based link. Well guess what that link did not work, when I tried to read it the link did not even work. The link did not even go anywhere. So now they send me another link not tied to my contract and say this is the righ link. Well my contract link did not work why would I have to abide by something you just pulled out of thin air? So then I start getting emails saying my card is not working for the billing they are attempting. I get this every day for 3 or 4 days. Then I get a m***ious bill for $20 on my credit card that I had deleted in my profile. Couple days later $938 billing from Angie's List. I did not authorize these transactions and have a recorded call from there supervisor that I would not be receiving any more billing from Angie's List. Further I have not even received any invoice justifying the amount that they have charged me. There should be no billing for the month of September for I asked weeks in advance to cancel my contract, it is not my fault that your manger was on a weeks leave. Again it feels like extortion when someone tells you at the end if you leave you will pay me a outrageous amount of money or stay. Especially when I do not even have a copy or was never let on about the cancellation policy. It is strange how they will go over everything else but sure to leave that out. There is no accountability for the time I have lost in this matter. And still today even after asking for weeks my account is still on Angie's List.

I am a business owner who used Angi for leads for jobs, paid them an exceptional amount of money for those leads over the course of about 3 years. Leads were good until Angi partnered with/bought Home Advisor. After that happened we were given leads that were fake (phone numbers that were disconnected, addresses that didn't exist), very angry customers if we did get someone to answer the phone due to SO many other companies calling them also and customers saying that is not what they signed up for. When I tried to cancel our account, I was told that I personally could not cancel the account. Their reasoning was that my name was not on the contract, even though I am the one who signed the contract. The business that I own is a partnership, the other partner's name is on the contract, but I signed. Since that happened they are saying that that put us past the time to cancel before the automatic renewal time and are now charging us for the contract amount. Even with emails to prove that they would not allow me to cancel, they still reported me to their lawyers and are now trying to *** for the remaining amount. Angi is a horrible company, lies to their clients and businesses and does nothing when complaints are made to them directly and they do everything they can to get your money any way they can. The way that Angi is run is very unethical!
I was contacted by an Angi rep *** to discuss possibly signing up as a contractor looking to get leads. The rep told that it would cost $6000 a year or I could opt to pay monthly at $500 a month, and did not mention that I would be locked into a 1 year contract. I was under the impression that this was a monthly subscription and told the rep I would try it for a month and then decided if I want to continue or not. At no point did the rep attempt to correct or inform me that this was in fact a 1 year contract. This is very deceitful and not honest business practices. Had she been clear that this would enter me into a contract either way, I would not have agreed to anything. This is a small business that I operate outside of my full time job. $6000 a year is a big *** for me as income isn't very high, which is why I was ok with trying it for a month. So far only one lead led to a job being scheduled, and then the person canceled the job when I arrived because they did not have the money and failed to notify me. So not only has this not led to any work, but has also cost me additional money and time. When I contacted Angi about terminating the account, they told me I would have to pay a $3500 early termination fee. After reading reviews here and on other sites, I see I'm not the only one they have deceived.
3-31-23, I booked a yard waste cleanup to be on Monday 4-4-23. The number they give their contractors to contact people says suspected spam, so most people will not pick that up. I happen to pick it up and made other arrangements with my contractor *** to come at a different time and day. Agni.com cancelled my booking and charged *** $180 for not showing up on 4-4-23. You can not go back on the website and change anything on your booking. Then after they cancelled the booking, they said it was complete, charged me the $269 when the job had not been done. Called to Angi on a three way call with ***, wanted to speak to a supervisor, the rep *** up on us. ***, I think did this job for free, was charge $180 fee for not showing up, when we had resheduled, and I was charge the $269 fee for the job. *** is a hard working contractor. He needs to be credited the $180 fee and be paid for doing the job. Can't get Angi to do anything...
We put a hold on our account towards the end of last year over the phone. Since then they have continued to charge our account over $600 in charges in the span of only 3 months.
I began my relationship with Angie's List on 01/14 for the purposes of marketing and advertising for my Handyman and Finish Carpentry
I began my relationship with Angie's List on 01/14 for the purposes of marketing and advertising for my Handyman and Finish Carpentry company. When I was initially onboarded my intention was to market myself as previously mentioned however when I discussed my company's abilities the onboarding salesperson, EB, told me that my services were more suited to marketing as a home remodeler. During this phone call we discussed my intended annual income and long term goals. EB guaranteed between 40 and 60 leads during the first three months of membership. I was also told that when I received a lead I was the only company that would have received that lead. (I later learned this to be false because I went to quote one job that I subsequently lost to another contractor on Angies List - this was a misrepresentation that would have turned me off to the service. I was told specifically that was a reason the price was higher. It's all based on an algorithm I was told!) The package sounded great and I was very motivated. However, during the first two weeks I began to receive leads for work that I am not legally able to perform in my state. Jobs that involved electrical, plumbing, demolition and structural work were being offered to me and each of these leads I replied to, I had to inform each lead that I could not legally perform the work requested. I specifically told EB what I couldn't do - no plumbing, no electrical work, no demolition, no structural work, and I could not act as a general contractor. Furthermore, I told her that I work by myself and do not have a crew and don't intend to hire anyone. On 02/01 I contacted my Customer Success Manager (CSM), JP, to discuss the leads I was receiving and change the way I was marketed. I described my frustration to her and she was taken aback by the notation that someone who performs remodeling services or home improvements couldn't perform plumbing or electrical work. I reviewed the services that I offer and she told me "that her brother does kitchen and bath remodeling and he doesn't need to be licensed as an electrician or plumber" - I'm sorry, but we live in different states and different states have different laws; this was lost upon her. She told me that she would remove me from the kitchen and bath remodelers category and put me into basement remodeling, otherwise I wouldn't get any leads. I asked again about handyman categorization and she discouraged me from joining that category unless I wanted to pay more for the service. I accepted her suggestion and figured that I would continue. I was left without much confidence in the service, however I was aware that there was a penalty for cancellation so I made the decision to try to make it work. As the month progressed, I continued to receive leads that were unsuited to my company and its services and decided that on 03/08 I would call another contact in the company to rectify the issue, ST. I spoke with ST briefly and agreed that I was mis-categorized and suggested that I speak with JP again. I expressed my opinion and lack of confidence of JP, during our phone call on 2/1 but he assured me that it was just a simple change and that she could handle that. I reached out to Jobie and finally was able to contact her on 3/10 - she was very difficult and disagreeable to my schedule I had to bend to hers. She was short on the phone, again couldn't believe that I had received no work and said that we would talk again on Friday morning because she works better off of scheduled phone calls. Friday morning came and she called early was extremely rude to me on the phone told me that I would probably not be categorized as a handyman by the renewal date because I hadn't signed the new contract. I had originally thought that the purpose of our 3/12 phone call was to discuss that contract, however her intent was for me to setup and offer "deals" for my company. Why would I want to offer deals when over the previous two months I've received no revenue due to my company being categorized incorrectly based on the reassurance and suggestion of Angie's List, especially when I was just told that I probably wouldn't be categorized properly for the next renewal due to take place on 3/14? I needed to start making money in January not March! This woman actually had the gall to give me the line, "I have a lot of clients and I can't remember everything - I'm very busy". She kept referring to the previous phone as call as last week when it was only two days prior. Needless to say this phone call was a waste of my time (as is Angie's List) - as stated she was short, spoke over me throughout the call, didn't want to hear anything about contracts or concerns, and basically could care less about "Customer Success". The point here is that I hired Angie's List based on their marketing and advertising ability along with their market insight to acquire leads for my company. When I contacted them on 2/1 and said that I wasn't receiving anything actionable, they basically did nothing. JP certainly didn't say we should put you in the Handyman category because I want to see you succeed; instead she said why don't we just change the type of remodeling you can perform and hope for the best? The question I asked myself after the 3/12 conversation with JP was what have I been paying for? I expected market insight and to be marketed correctly. Furthermore I was being advertised for services that I cannot perform which exposes my company to prosecution and also potentially could have harmed my reputation. Furthermore Angie's List provides the ability to rate the quality of lead. Almost every single lead I received I gave only a single star because I was under the impression that someone was looking at it. Jobie was completely unaware of the fact that I had received almost no actionable leads or any any revenue generated by an Angie's List lead. After the discussion with JP on 3/12, I decided to cancel my membership prematurely and contacted Platform Integrity to close the account, ask for a refund of the 3/14 payment of $600 and be released from the early cancellation fee. Angie's List agreed to cancel my membership without any early termination fee and refund the $600 3/14 payment. I was mildly happy that they agreed that I want properly served and that I had been exposed to some risk. After a couple of days and a discussion with counsel, I decided that because of the financial personal hardship my association with Angie's List had created I would demand a refund of the total amount of money I paid to Angie's List, $1800 (01/14, 02/14, 03/14). They have subsequently refused any further reimbursement and to date have not reimbursed the original amount that they said they would reimburse - $600 which should have taken 3-5business days. Furthermore I continue to receive leads which I refuse to acknowledge for fear that they would continue to charge my account or try to say I was active.

I was sent a lead with incorrect contact information. I requested a credit which was denied because they claim the information is correct. I cannot contact the customer therefore I want a credit. Additionally, the amount you charge for leads has doubled over the last year. That is unacceptable. I would not recommend any contractors work with you until you improve your customer service and get your fees back in line.
On 4/3/2023 I paid Angi $283.00 for a clogged sewer cleanup. Angi sent me a contractor (***) to complete the job. ***'s business card (with a *** address) does not have a license to practice in Massachustts. He arrived unprepared without the necessary equipment to complete the job and demanded that he deserved more compensation for the job. His snake equipment was not long enough, and soon stopped working.Angi refunded me $141.72, but *** barely did anyhing to resolve my problem.Last Summer, Angi cancelled *** replacement job two times, because they couldnot find a contractor.
I emailed my rep *** and CC'd the Platform Integrity email, *** and Angie ***, to no response.2/10: Left a message requesting to talk about my concerns regarding leads being unresponsive, not within the monetary means promised, and not wanting to work with anyone associated with Angi after being treated poorly previously. 2/13: *** called back and followed up with an email asking for the best time to call back.2/14: I emailed the next day with my availability for the day and when I would be available the rest of the week; I received no response.2/23: I called *** but I was told she was unavailable. They said theyll leave a message for her to call me back. No response.2/27: I emailed regarding my concerns and non-replies. They said I would need to call or email ***. I informed them I already had several times. No reply.3/21: I left a voicemail, chatted with *** in CS, and asked them to cancel my membership. They gave me *** number and email and said she would get back to me in 1-2 business days; I informed them of previous voicemails and emails. I requested a 03/01 payment reversal through my bank.3/23: I called CS and requested membership cancellation. They said it was already being processed, gave me ***'s information, and promised a 1 to 2 business days response from her, and that CS would escalate the case. I received no response about my wanting to cancel. I, however, received $500 from Angi with no explanation.3/24: Over two business days from last call, *** called then emailed saying my cancellation was processed and I would be charged $1,400 for early termination without having addressed the underlying issues at all As of 4/5, they are asking for me to pay 35% of the fee and are threatening to send me to collections if I don't comply.
Don't use Angi Leads! We received multiple fabricated leads to meet our monthly lead allowance. 2 leads came in at once, "X and Y"(example). We called X, no answer, called Y, and they answered as X, then went "oh.. wait, I mean I'm Y". We were charged for the wrong lead types, and in general this was just a huge headache and a waste of money. In the end I was able to get a PARTIAL reimbursement only after coming to the BBB where Angi has asked that you contact them before submitting anything. What a joke.
in September, I contacted Angies list in an effort to increase my business sales and service
in September, I contacted Angies list in an effort to increase my business sales and service. I spoke to a salesman who told me how Angies list works, how they reach customers in my local area through advertising, and how they can help customers discover my business. I was told that on average my business would receive roughly 90 requests per quarter, or just under 30 each month. I was told I had to sign up for a yearly contract, and the monthly charge would be $350 a month. I didn't decide right away, but after doing the math, it was pretty obvious that it would be a good deal. I felt that I would likely close less than half of the sales at an average of $250 ea, this was an acceptable ROI. I spoke to the sales person again and he again reiterated the number of requests per quarter to entice me to sign up with Angies List. After signing up over the phone, I was placed with an employee who would assist me in setting up my account. Almost immediately I found myself questioning what was being told to me. She had stated that in order to get customers to see my business, I would need to get 15 reviews. When I questioned why they didn't explain this before I signed up, she said most people who sign up with Angies List understand they are based on reviews. To suggest I was stupid or didn't clearly understand this to me was insulting. I explained to her there was a reason they do not tell people this before they sign up because they know good and well they would lose business. When she insisted that I reach out to my previous customers to get them to review my business, I told her I did not plan on doing this, as I felt it was unprofessional and a bad customer experience. She became very insistent, almost as if I was expected to do as I was told, and I in return did not budge and became very firm with her and let her know that there was no way I was going to contact my previous customers and harass them for additional reviews. This was my first complaint, Why wasn't I told of this expectation prior to signing up for a contract in which I was promised 30 requests or leads each month. Only after signing up, was there an expectation to increase reviews so I could be seen by customers. When in fact my expectation and what I was led to believe was that by signing up with Angies List is what made this possible. For the first month, I received 1, not 30, but 1 request for service which was outside of my service area and well below the minimum charge. I called my success manager, Stephanie, who gave excuse after excuse as to why she had not contacted me in over 5 weeks, as the job of a success manager is to ensure the clients success, but would be next to impossible to achieve if they don't pick up the phone to call them. She apologized and moved to reassure me that we needed to get my reviews to a minimum of 5 to be visible to other customers. I had already serviced a few of my customers who found me elsewhere, and asked them to leave me a review on Angies List, and so I had a few reviews already. I was able to get two more reviews an once again, instead of receiving 30 requests, I received 2 in my second month with Angies List, and only one of those turned into a job. I am now at $700 in charges with Angies List, with only $150 in earned business. I called Stephanie again the next month, because she never called me to be proactive, but I assume that is because she knows what she will be faced with. We again spoke about how I was receiving very few requests from customers, however, by now I had realized something with my Home Advisor account. Most of my leads that I pay Home Advisor were coming from Angies List. Stephanie tried to explain away why customer who went to Angies List looking for a professional were never requesting my service, but those very same customers were sold to me via Home Advisor and would hire my services. She gave me multiple reasons why this would happen, but never once claimed to understand why I took issue with this practice. She told me everything from they didn't fill out their Angies List as members so they were sourced to Home Advisor, as well as each company works with each other to help meet their quotas and "fill buckets." Again, I am under contract with Angies List, whereas I am supposed to receive this customers who are looking or my services, but instead were only put in contact with these same customers if I paid Home Advisor for the lead. To me, this was obviously a horrible practice and yet, to date, nobody has ever been able to explain why these customers came to Angies List, were never put in touch with me, but were sent to Home Advisor where I was charged again for their information. This was my second complaint. By late December I contacted Stephanie again, and wanted to cancel my account. She assured me that the calls would pick up, but quite frankly I didn't want to hear it. I was still receiving customers from Home Advisor which were sourced by Angies List. When I told her I wanted to cancel the account, she told me that things were just slow because of the pandemic and that the calls would increase if I just gave it a chance and continued to increase my reviews. I told her that if they were unable to deliver business due to the pandemic then she should have a supervisor waive the monthly charge even if it meant extending my contract by one month, as this was totally ok with me. Instead she insisted that there was nobody capable of doing this and did not even offer me the name of her supervisor who I knew was capable of doing such a thing or could contact someone who could approve this. Instead Stephanie simply stated that to cancel she would need to charge my card a cancellation fee of $1200. I told her I did not feel that was fair, as they weren't living up to what they promised and that it wasn't fair that they wouldn't even try to help their customer, since it was obvious they themselves were struggling because of the pandemic as she suggested was a reason from the low requests from customers. I canceled my card on file with Angies List to prevent them from charging my account. I last spoke with Stephanie when she contacted me to review my account. I told her that I had been locked out of my account since December. She wanted to review the "11" requests that I had received since we last spoke and I told her I wasn't able to see them because I was locked out of my account, which she was well aware of. I told her that they were to close my account because they were not living up to their end of the contract and all she did, as she always did, was offer excuses and speak over me while I tried to talk. She then threatened to send me to collections and said something to the extent that she hopes I don't plan on buying anything on credit ever again. The conversation had been heated, as I don't take to threats nor excuses kindly, but trying to explain what's right and wrong to someone who obviously doesn't care or can't seem to fathom the simple logic involved, was beyond the pale and she hung up on me after lodging the threats about attacking my credit. Bottom line is Angies List promised to provide me leads from customers at a certain rate (30) per month, and failed to during one month, even provide a single lead. When asked if they could waive the monthly charge until they could provide the leads, I was stonewalled, blamed, and never offered a solution. Pay up or go to collections. That was it. I offered the solution, to extend the contract by a month so long as they could waive the fee for the months they could not deliver on their promises. I didn't need 30 to be happy. If I was able to receive enough leads to even double my investment, that would have been acceptable, but they never delivered that one time in the past six months. But my complaint is that they are receiving these customers, but are not directing them to me, and instead are being sold to me via their sister company, Home Advisor.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
Angi's List refuses to cancel their services. I have followed their instructions for months and contacted our account representative via email and text and they have never responded. It's a complete scam! Every time I contact them they give me the same run around. I then get tons of leads requesting services that never respond to my messages. The jobs vs leads ratio is miserable. Not worth my money. But they will not cancel the services no matter how many times I have jumped through their hoops to cancel.
While trying to find a contractor, I googled contractors near me and chose 2 local businesses listed in *** and contacted them directly to request an estimate. The next day I start receiving phone calls from other contractors refered by Angie's list trying to give me an estimate, when I never contacted Angie's list or used their site for this project. I had used Angie's list a year ago for a project but I'm bewildered on how/why they would access my search data and sell me as a lead to contractors without me even asking. Btw, when I did use Angie's list a year ago, I received numerous calls from a range of businesses including house keeping for my concrete/landscaping project which is why I shied away from using them again. I need to know what causes this and is there any ways for me to use Angie's services only when I ask for it.
Angi calls my business at least twice a day, trying to sell me their Angi *** I have requested no less than five times for them to stop calling to no avail. It is incredibly frustrating and a waste of my time and disruptive to my business.
Angi's recruiters reached out to me January 2023, I had just launched my business. They convinced me that advertising with them was the best way to help my business grow. The recruiter had all the right things to say and I ended up paying over 3k for annual subscription for an application in which I have to chase down leads, as well as promises of application functionality that is completely untrue. After several attempts to reach out to my success manager with none to little responses I simply asked for a cancelation and refund for the months paid upfront. Not to my surprise I continue to be ignored. This tells me I was scammed by a so called reputable company. I have NOT received any leads in a long time and I receive FAKE leads and also scammers I've had to report. Honestly I'm steps away from reaching out to a legal team due to paying a large sum and receiving no services as promised.
