My son tried to move in to his Aspire349 Apt 104 on Aug 12, 2022. When he got the key from the apt office that day and went in to the apt, the apartment was moldy and had a super strong mold odor. Despite that and thinking that it was just because the unit was vacant for a while, we moved my son’s belongings in to the apt. By the time we finished, 3 of the 4 of us there had scratchy throats and aggravated sinuses and we decided to move my son’s belongings OUT of the unit. No other first floor apartments in his quad had that same moldy smell and other students moving in around us smelled the mold smell from this apartment. We saw mold on the dark kitchen cabinets, mold in the laundry area and by the water heater and the HVAC system was absolutely disgusting and dirty. And we have pictures to show all of this. The HVAC had been spreading the mold this whole time. Why didn’t the apartment management know this before they rented this apt to my son? The apartment mgmt seemed both surprised and concerned at first about the mold and had Eastern Environmental in to inspect for mold that same Friday afternoon. Samantha is the community manager, Victoria is the regional manager and Vinny is a front office worker. When the mold inspector arrived in the parking lot and got out of his company truck, my ex-wife (and my son's mother) saw and overhead Vinny say to the mold inspector "there's no mold in there, no mold in the HVAC, it's all ok". When the mold inspector went in to the apartment, gee, he didn't think it was bad including the HVAC that he said looked good. Yeah, ok. Sorry to say but that was the first of several letdowns of the day from Aspire349. Since then, the apartment is still not ready for safe occupancy. And I have already paid the first months rent mind you. Aspire349 is supposedly having ServPro in to this unit and several others in the complex to place an air scrubber in the apt for a few days. Then, supposedly Aspire349 is having the HVAC unit and ducts cleaned. What about the possible mold between the walls and in the ceiling? I was told that I would not be allowed to have my own mold inspector check the walls and ceilings for mold content. Why not Aspire349? My son, on Monday, Aug 15, 2022, went to Aspire349 to look at a 3br apt there that had 1 bedroom available for occupancy. Guess what... that apt had mold in the closet of the room my son looked at! This Aspire349 complex has a history and a reputation of mold problems that we did not know about. In fact, there is one past resident there who got sick from the mold in her apartment and Aspire349 STILL has not let her out of her lease. My son will not be staying in this Aspire349 apartment complex because I don't want him getting sick from the mold that is apparently in these apartments. Do you want to rent an apt there and get sick too? Or maybe your son or daughter will get sick from living there? See what kind of treatment you get from the Aspire349 management. My son's attorney sent a lease termination letter to Aspire349 on Thursday, August 18, 2022, and asked for it to be responded to by the end of Friday, August 19, 2022. No surprise that Aspire349 did not respond back by the end of Friday, August 19, 2022. I don't recommend the Aspire349 apartment complex to anyone but my worst enemies.
