Auto & General Money Making Scam
I've been trying to cancel auto and general insurance for almost 3 months with no avail, their first installment I managed to reverse it via the bank, the second and the third I failed because they blocked them so that they can continue to scam my hard earned cash, so now because of my constant emails and demand of cancelation, they did manage to cancel but they don't want to pay back my previous two months premiums which by law I'm entitled to... Auto and general is not to be trusted, is a scam and a user, I demand my money back

Received a quote in October to compare with current insurance. An instalment of the QUOTE was deducted from my bank account.
I have been trying to get a refund for the past two weeks but to no avail. Today a second deduction of QUOTE amount was deducted. My account is now in a negative balance due to this deduction.

The claim was lodged 21 Sept and today I am still without a car. snippets of events 28 Sept - claim rejected - excess more than claim, the accessor did not assess the car correctly, when i called the assessor to query and referred him to the events as recorded in SAPS statement, he said he does not have access to that. I really don't know how to respond...

Accident 25 September 2023 your insured driver drove into my husband driving my car in a double lane, speed 60kmph, after 5 weeks of nagging Auto & General wants to pay R6200 for fixing my car because the consultant informed us we are 40% liable.
How can you be liable for an accident if you are in your legal lane driving the speed you should and have two lanes to drive in... and then the other driver who does not stop at the stop hits your car draggin' it on the sidewalk and then flips it to the sidewalk causing a lot of damage, but you are then 40 % guilty of what? The other person insured with Auto & General is only 60 % liable according to you after he broke the law by not stopping, causing a major accident, or endangering other people.
Incorrect payment made and no contact from Insurer representative
I was involved in an accident in Mozambique in December. I had the vehicle towed back to SA. The claim was investigated and approved. I was seriously considering buying back the vehicle and repairing it myself, but in order to do that, I needed to see the vehicle. I then had it retrieved from Nelspruit to Ellisras where I stay, at my own cost. I then decided to not buy it back. The lady handling my claim, Chevonne Percival, then asked somebody to call me to arrange everything. The vehicle was picked up from Ellisras, I couriered the keys, registration documents etc to the address supplied. For 2 weeks, I have mailed Chevonne repeatedly asking for feedback on the claim for the transport from Mozambique to SA, to no avail. She simply ignored me. I even asked the lady from the dispute resolution office to help. She said she would personally follow up with Chevonne repeatedly and I got no reply. I phoned and she was always busy and when I wanted to speak to her supervisor/manager, I would get promises of somebody phoning me with no results. THen all of a sudden, Chevonne sends me a mail, stating that my retrieval of the vehicle is for my own account on the buy back option. I tried to explain that I am not buying the vehicle back, she then says R370406 will reflect in my account in 2-3 days. My claim was settled for R577000. So what happened to the rest of the money? I have now asked again that somebody call me, repeatedly in order to sort out Chevonne's obvious confusion, but nobody has contacted me. So now I sit without a vehicle and without hte full settlement amount that was agreed.
Desired outcome: I would like the full settlement amount that was agreed upon with the insurance and I would like the towing cost of retrieving my vehicle from Mozambique to be paid back to me in full.
Motor insurance
Policy number [protected]-car was under business insurance and netstar placed a tracking devise in the vehicle while it was driver uber for a month while driving the vehicle just strated to loose memory every time it has been driven since the tracking device has been placed in the vehicle i did inform netstar and the insurance but no luck my vehicle is currently at citreon and the insurance only wants to pay R 5000 for a quote of R 23 000 after negligence has been on their and netstars side i have no luck with any feedback i have been calling for one month but no help at all
Desired outcome: for the insurance and netstar to pay for the damages on my car , i have spend more then enough money fixing this vehicle
Poor to no after sale service. Household claim
Good day. Today is week 3 of the claim. Putting in the claim is easy like 1,2,3. After the claim are summited deferent story. A lady (Nkululeko Ngwesheni) start the claim and it went well. From her to claim department 100%. From claim department to the assessor (so called Kevin) still 100%. From assessor (kevin) to claim department. Then all stop at claim department. I mailed Nkululeko Ngwesheni regarding the matter and that there are excess to be paid (were in informed via SMS. The lady (Nkululeko Ngwesheni) called me and said a lady so called Sade Dixon will call me regarding the claim and the excess amount to be paid. I just wat to know it the insurance are going to repair or replaced? And when?

Delayed parts on the repairs of my vehicle.
I had an accident on the 2nd of September 2022, until to date my vehicle has not been repaired. I was informed that the delay is with the parts and that it would take 6 months for the parts to be delivered.
I had car hire and had to fight for it to be extended now I’m being told that they can longer extend the car hire because the delayed parts is beyond their control. An Auto & General representative even told me that going forward I should communicate with Auto & General that I should communicate with the panel beater directly. How does that make sense when I was not the one who chose the panel beater? Auto & General chose the panel beater and should therefore be the one to communicate with the panel beater and provide me with feedback. That is not the case with Auto & General, I have to waste my time calling and literally being put on hold for 30 minutes to get no feedback. Their call center agents are not even well equipped to handle customer queries, they even lie say that they have escalated your query when that’s not the case. You have to continually call and ask for feedback on your query in order for them to assist you.
First of all customer service is the assistance provided by a company to people who buy or use its products or services. The delay in the parts should not affect me, it has nothing to do with me. It is the responsibility of Auto & General to make sure that they push manufacturers to obtain the parts required for the repairs of my vehicle. I refuse to be inconvenienced by this delay. I need car hire because if the parts are delayed then the repairs on my vehicle will be delayed, I SHOULD NOT BE INCONVENIENCED BY THE DELAY, It is the responsibility of Auto & General to make sure that their customers are comfortable and afforded “superior service “.
Mercedes’ Benze parts that are paid for only take a maximum of 2 weeks to be delivered. It means that the panel beater only ordered the part (we are not even sure if the parts are ordered at Mercedes Benz) and did pay for it hence the delay. It Auto & General that must push the panel beater to work. I cannot wait 8 months for my vehicle to be repaired. I need a car to make the money that I pay Auto & General with every month.
Auto & General has caused me a lot of stress in the months I’ve been with them, every single time I’ve had to claim is been a stressful struggle as if I don’t pay my monthly premiums. I’ve therefore made a decision to cancel my home, contents and car insurance once my vehicle has been repaired if ever it does get repaired. I would not recommend anyone to join this mediocre of a company.
Desired outcome: Car hire as they wait for delayed parts.
Sounds like it would have been alot less expensive to buy new parts instead of aftermarket. How come either the company or customer didn't address with the representatives of the insurance company themselves. And then he mentions 8 months waiting for parts and I assume the car was not drivable. Was it drivable? Why would anyone pay the premiums when the car is just sitting and can't be driven? Especially for 8 months!?
Bad service from advisor /consultant
I filed a claim on the 24th of October. To date I have not received any communication from the said advisor who was appointed to my claim. Everytime I call she is not available. I requested for car hire and was told it would be requested from the managers but have not received any response yet. Instead of receiving any type of feedback from her I instead received an email informing me of my premium increase. I am deeply disappointed in Auto and general as I joined them thinking that they are a reputable insurance company. The service I have received thus far has given me nothing but stress as I do not even know what the progress of my claim is.
Desired outcome: I would appreciate a response regarding the progress of my claim and the right to the car hire that I am still awaiting for.
Cancelation obstacles
When trying to cancel my policy, I have sent numerous emails (including the ceo if that actually is a manned mailbox) without success.
I am told I need to do this telephonically but I am out of the country meaning an international call. I've tried this too but without success. They will not call me on an international call either.
I've asked for a document to sign & return but they apparently cannot do this. How ineffective can a company be?
They're quick to take my premiums but slow to stop the process

My battery died,i called for assistance and they said help is coming,after 2hours waiting no help was provided,i called again and they said help is on its way,as i type my car is still in the drive way with the level of crime in our country,i dont how am i gonna sleep because i am still waiting for assistance.

I'm very unhappy with Auto & General. They are going to look for the smallest mistake you made just to tell you they are not going to pay out because you forgot to update the insurance. It's human to forget, not to think about updating your insurance.
I could very easily have said my son went to visit a friend, but I told the truth. My son was in Gauteng for two months for a new job when my car was stolen.
And with a loophole comes Auto & General saying the address has not been adjusted.
Very comfortably they can charge an extra fee if the driver is not nominated. But they can not charge a fee for another address?
One thing is for sure, Auto & General has certainly lost a client's trust. And if anyone were to ask me, I would not recommend Auto & General.

I had a claim with Auto and General that were rejected, but when my car were returned to me, there were extra damaged on the car that were not from the accident and the car were filled up with petrol just an hour before the accident accrued petrol slip to proof.
I send an e-mail on the 3rd December 2021 explaining everything with photo's to Tihsa regarding this matter. I made several phone calls to Auto and General regarding this but with no luck.
I want to fix the vehicle and now it is going to cost me extra for fixing the extra damage.
Very poor service from Auto and General for not coming back to their customers.
Desired outcome: I would appreciate it if Auto and General can come back to me regarding this matter. I want to be compensated for the extra damage on the car and the amount for the petrol.

On the 8th novemberv2021 We had a burglary In our garage whilst I was away my wife had organised insurance as my father had always organised and paid for insurance as we looked after him as he had terminal lung cancer my wife made a claim for the stolen items and a lot of those items were Xmas presents my father had purchased as he new it was out last Xmas with him ..now we were able to provide invoices for most the items but no my father passed away and neither my partner or myself were dealing well with the loss b let alone the theft now we are being investigated by a woman named Rachel who is very rude and hopefully one day she will face not only the grieving process but being made feel thief and spoken at they are looking for God knows what we have b receipts and pictures of all these items some which cannot be replaced as my father had purchased some really nice stuff and I'll never get some of those things back let alone have it all settled before Christmas they should be ashamed of themselves and I will be telling anyone who will listen disgusting company and people to deal with at such a time in our life's.

First I claim last Friday, consultant tells me everything look fine but payment must first go off Monday the 15th before claim can proceed but I have been paying every month. Friday accessors comes out and tells both myself and my husband, insurance needs to pay out and leave us happy because it only starting leaking in last week.
Thursday (yesterday) Nicole Joseph calls me, who declines my claim, wear and tear first, then thunder or storm must happen first to claim for equipment in my swimming pool. I asked her, how can know see the unforseen because it's now also claimed unforseen is not covered but this wasn't told to me when I took out policy. After two emails Nichole chooses to not respond.
This morning I speak to her manager Samantha Bergstedt, who now told me that specific part of the pool is not cover by my policy and I request to cancel my policy as this make no sense and she was very eager to do do. I then emailed them both my policy, just to show them, that it was specified and I paid extra for that. Still no response from them. I cant help but to feel but this insurance company is nothing but a scam.
Desired outcome: I would want them to honor what I've paid for, it was covered, so just replace it

It is the first time in years that I had excellent service from Auto &General with Josephine Theunisen she should be promoted a lady that has knowledge it was a pleasure dealing with her
As it is so frustrating to deal with some of your consultants that has no clue promise to phone you back and never does which is ridiculous The phone rings for more than 15 min at, a time Not sure what some of your consultants are taught
Terrible car insurance
Auto and general is a terrible car insurance one can have. I've been with them more than one and half year now while staying in one street and my premium has increased 3/4 times now because they keep changing their goal post. My car is depreciating, but their insurance is increasing. I want to know how is that possible when I have been staying in the same area.

I sent an email through to auto and general for my policy to be canceled.
I cannpt call because my job position does not allow me to be on my phone during working hours hence i am a call center consultant.
Yesterday i was debited 1900 ra'd which now leaves my account in a - 1900 due to insufficient funds. I clearly gave instructions for this to be canceled so now how am i going to sort my account out because of this negligence?
You guys need to refund me my money back and pay for all my debit that didn't go through. This is totally unacceptable and il going to take this further if i don't get help immediately
I have exactly the same experience. I have spoken to at least 4 consultants who promised that it will be sorted just to see that it was debited again. I am unemployed have have no funds at all. i am also in the negative at the bank.

I have been with your company for longer than 5 years if not more and may possibly continue, HOWEVER, with deductions trying to be made BEFORE my chosen date, will have me paying for debit orders returning due to insufficient funds.
I therefore request that you REMAIN with my decided date.. as then I'll be forced to look for Insurance elsewhere.
