Disappointing Experience with Ross Hudgens and Graves
After reading numerous reviews from customers, it's evident that Ross Hudgens and Graves, particularly their service BillionGraves, falls short of expectations. Many users have expressed frustration with issues such as unauthorized charges, poor communication, and difficulties in canceling subscriptions. One reviewer mentioned being charged even after canceling, highlighting a lack of transparency and customer service. Another user found the platform lacking in comparison to other genealogy sites, emphasizing the need for improvement. Overall, the feedback indicates a pattern of dissatisfaction and caution for potential customers considering Ross Hudgens and Graves services.
No Support for verifiers
I cannot get help with the duplications of my efforts. I. e. I see the same gravestone and record mover and over. I have asked for help and got nothing. (Its nearly impossible to get anything but a library of answerers they have produced in the past) Why do I care? I do not want to waste time in doing things multiple times. I have done more than 30,000 records but am frustrated that I am wasting a good bit of my time. I volunteer so maybe someone thinks I have all the time in the world. WRONG
I also enjoy the benefit of seeing how I rnk in their other volunteers. I have been as high as number two but feel this duplicate effort is impeding my position.
I will find other worthwhile endeavors if this is not dealt with.
This is a sample record of what I am talking about.

Great service on two continents
I have used Billion Graves in both the US and Australia. I've been able to submit over 10,000 gravestone pictures and transcribed several thousands more. I've used the app and the online version. I've had a seamless experience and have loved helping others connect with their ancestors. Thank you Billion Graves for providing this venue!

Easy to use, so helpful!
Billion Graves is an amazing database of user-input grave information. Sometimes, grave information is not available but it is because no user has photographed that grave. Since images record GPS locations, it is easy to see surrounding Graves, which is helpful. Also, with the app, contributing images is super easy! Good job, Billion Graves!
Really enjoy volunteering for billiongraves
Really enjoy volunteering for billiongraves. It is so easy to contribute to their site with their app. You really have two ways to contribute. You can upload photos using their app or you can transcribe memorials by logging on to their website. No drama, no fighting over who owns the headstone photos. You are really made to feel like you are part of their team. In just 2 years they have over 7 million memorials. They are growing rapidly. They have joined with familysearch and myheritage.
Wonderful Experience!
My family and I have had such wonderful experiences in using the BillionGraves app to photograph headstones. In a recent trip to Massachusetts I ran into a couple wandering around the cemetery I was continuing to photograph. They appeared lost. After a brief conversation explaining what I was doing, I was able to show the couple where the grave they were looking for was located just by using the app. The app lead us to the exact location. The couple were so happy as they had been searching for quite awhile.
Useful Research Tool
I use this site regularly when researching various family members. There are a number of ways that BillionGraves can point out other research opportunities - my favorites are:
--Names of people burried near by.
--Names of people with similar names (surnames both maiden and married) burried in the same cemetary.
--Known family members (this can be updated by users to help those researching in the future)
In addition - it is easy to help others by transcribing pictures taken by others. The tools make this easy - so you can do a few, or a few hundred depending on your time and desire.
Amazing results
I was surprised to see so many negative comments. My experience was phenomenal. I needed a photo of my Dad's headstone who is buried almost 1,500 miles from my home. I put in a request, and within two days a volunteer had taken the picture. Wow! I don't know if that's normal or not. I found an uncle in Oregon who had a son I did not even know about. Knowing that most people are buried in family plots, I have found the GPS that identifies where the family plots are exceptionally helpful. Their data base continues to grow by thousands of records each day. I love it. With the monthly cost being less than an average cup of coffee makes it sure seem like a great value to me.
Invaluable Tool For The Serious Genealogist
I am a genealogist who has been doing research for over 25 years. I have used this site and others for my research. I prefer this site over others out there, because you know for certain that a headstone is where records state that it should be. This is due to the GPS technology that drives this site. You don't get that kind of guarantee on other sites, who I have found are often mistaken.
I have traveled around the United States using their app to document family graves. Our family just recently traveled from Utah to Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee using multiple devices to capture images and it all went off without any problems and worked beautifully. I would recommend this site to anyone and everyone to capture family headstone data.

Photo of my mothers headstone not deleted from their website
I have got in touch with this sick website company repeatedly requesting the photos of my mothers headstone to be removed, however this has been done. These past few months i sent them around 15 emails asking for the photo to be removed but in vain and that's totally unacceptable. It has caused extreme distress and pain to my family and myself, there are many complaints in the UK including reports to the media, see below
https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/local-news/families-hit-out-sick-website-2535756
I remove photos on a daily basis. You simply have to give the name and the URL of the record you want removed to our support staff.

images of family gravestones made public without permission
This website publicly and freely provides images of my family's gravestones, no permission was asked and there appears to be no way to request the images be removed. Our family gravestones are deeply personal, and understood to be accessible to people who visit the grave, known to family and friends. This website is breeching the Australian privacy act by making personal details and images freely available on the web without consent. Further this website illegally collects money from members without authorisation. The images of our family gravestones are NOT to be used for the means of unethical profiteering!
If you contact customer service they can remove the image. They remove the image from public view and keep the GPS location so that if another person takes a photo it too will be removed.
online website
Billion Graves has charged my credit card for a subscription that I do not have and do not want. This is the second time I have been charged. There is no way to contact them to resolve this issue. Using the "Help Desk" gets you an email telling you to use the Help Desk. Once again I am having to work with my bank to get the charge removed from my card.
This is unbelievable and I cannot believe illegal.
I want the charge removed and I want future charges to stop!
If you have a subscription you have an orange help button that will allow you to create a ticket. Create a ticket and a staff member will answer these questions as soon as possible.
bad searching system
I found the website www.billiongraves.com and hoped to find the grave of my grandfather. I searched for several hours and found nothing, because the website turned out to be scam. Their searching system was horrible, and it didn’t provide correct names, searches. I wasn’t satisfied and wouldn’t recommend this website, because it turned my hopes to find the grave of my farther. Please, post your comments and reviews about this website.
They charged my for a membership I didn’t order
That isn't possible. You have to put in a credit card in order to be charged. The website is free to search and free to use unless you want extras such as no ads, higher levels of customer service and better tools.
I just got charged for $24.99 on Discover Card. I contacted Discover, they had me call a identity theft and fraud number. They have canceled my credit card. I never signed up for a subscription from Billion of Graves. This is fraud.
If you contact customer service on the site, of there is fraud they will refund the charge.

Ancestry headquarters is at 1300 Traverse Parkway. From where does the "team" for Billion Graves work?
Why is there no phone, e-mail or live-chat on the web site for Billion Graves. Just too many unknowns for me to consider subscribing. JLG
Use the website for free. BillionGraves is a company that is largely based in volunteerism. A subscription is not required to search the site. We do require a log in to prevent fraud and nefarious activity.
billiongraves.com REFUND.
Just got PayPal response and they agreed with my complaint and are refunding the money from BG's account.
I believe that contesting this on a CC account would also work.
Dear Bob,
We have concluded our investigation into your case and have decided in your
favor.
We were able to recover $44.99 USD and this amount has been credited to
you. Please allow five business days for this adjustment to be posted.
If you are due any additional funds, we will make our best effort to
recover the balance from the seller.
If the seller's account has insufficient funds to complete the refund owed
to you, please be assured that we will take appropriate action against the
seller's account, which may include limitation of the seller's account
privileges.
BE AWARE -- There is a NO REFUND policy once you sign up and on your anniversary your payment will be billed automatically with no pre-notice allowing cancellation.
This policy is NOT on the page where you commit and pay for the service. It is well-hidden on one of the webpages. Search the master help page and you will find no mention.
This isn't true. You get a reminder 14 days before the subscription will renew. This reminder will also display in the inbox of your account. If you only want a one year subscription without a renewal, pay for a year and then cancel the autorenewal of the subscription. It is all on the help desk portion of the website.
No support and no refunds. It wasn't until I was checking my bank statement that I discovered I even had a subscription at Billion Graves. My card had been charged without my knowledge with no warning, no reminder, no email, nothing. My email to their "Priority" support only got me a copy-and-paste reply that had absolutely nothing to do with my questions. My second email didn't get a response at all. They care nothing for the users, only the quick buck they're going to take from you without telling you first.
Do NOT sign up here folks! You'll get no support and no refund when you're charged without your knowledge.
This isn't true either. There is a big orange help button with directions on the website helpdesk on how to use it. You do not need to have a subscription to use the website. The website is free. (I used the site for free for over a decade.) Once a subscription is taken out if you only want it for one year, cancel the automatic autorenewal. It is just that simple.
Oh if only every single cemetery in the world was magically photographed and transcribed overnight. We'd never have to leave our armchairs to do our research. These sites are possible through the efforts such as myself who selflessly give up their own time to visit, photograph and transcribe so that you can sit at home and ### because we haven't gotten to your wish list. How about get off your ### and make some contributions while you are waiting for yours to show up. Now if you'll excuse me, I am on my way to give up my Saturday to photograph and transcribe a cemetery that doesn't have any of my relatives in it. Maybe I'll stumble across yours. I'll tell them you say hello.
