Student loans and unsatisfied concerning the courses
In October 2015 I attended Brown Mackie College. At first I really enjoyed the courses, but this school singled me out. As my fellow classmates would start a new course at the beginning of a new term I had to repeat the same course. I really didn't understand this and when I quit the school the school's staffing would call me and telling me lies. I felt horrible. From the beginning the admissions officer lied about the financial aid and never told me that I never have to pay a monthly fee.
Desired outcome: A deduction from my financial aid due to false advertisement and leaving out important details concerning individuals finances and lives.
support of graduates and credit transfer
I attended Brown Mackie Ft. Wayne from 2003 to 2006. Upon enrollment I was offered an account where they would handle my tuition and disperse my funds and re-enroll me for loans and FAFSA and other grants and I would not have to worry with it due to being a single mom..i was also told how my credits would transfer to other colleges to further my degree and that I would be given resources upon graduating for job placement and provided assistance if ever need arises..none was farther from the truth...my credits were unrecognizable to other colleges or universities. As soon as I graduated my federal taxes were taken for 10 yrs to pay off debts they incurred on my behalf...$35000+ and I was originally told it would be half that around $17000. I was unemployed for 2 yrs during recession period of society..i returned to BMC for assistance and was met with we can put you a job placement class..i have since filed a borrowers defense application..
cincinnati campus
I attended Brown Mackie when I was approached to attend and come visit the campus they lied about many things the first was that they were accredited the second was that I didn't have to pay back a lot of my students loans because it was free money from the govt. I took out extra money because it was free money and in the end that was a lie. I was lied to about how much money I would make after I got my degree and I was lied too about my job placement there after. I told the lady I wanted to do teaching she said no told me there was a huge waiting list and my only other option was healthcare administration. There were many lies they told me know I am in debt up to my ears with no real pay and most places laugh when I tell them where I went to college. I wish I could take it back I would habe never never never attended there or took our that much money.

lack of training in biomedical equipment technology.
I'm currently suffering from the debt I have in student loans because of the lies that I was told by the staff at this school. I dropped out after a few months of classes and now I'm left with debt to loan companies because of the lies that I was told by the staff. My income tax check has been garnished and my credit score has been greatly affected by this matter. I'm currently seeking help by any means necessary.
early childhood education
Hi I was enrolled at Brown Mackie taking my early childhood education classes for a 2 Year associates degree I had to take a leave of absence due to medical reasons and it was right at the end of my two years I took like a two month absence due to a big hernia that I had and when I came back to the school they said that they no longer offer that program I had even looked into finishing it at another Brown Mackie but the closest one that offered the program was 5/6 hours away in Ohio! I was talked into a whole different program in which I had already had a lot of the required classes needed so I graduated with a accociats degree in small business management, it took like 9 more months to receive and complete it! And thousands of more dollars right now I owe 30k plus in loans and the credits won't even transfer so I was really just stuck please help me find some type of loan forgiveness
money
I attended thier school in canton ohio back in 2010/2011. The money I got for the 2 classes I took and then had to drop out due to health issues. And being hospitalized. The school took out way more money then they should of. I am in massive debt on a student loan due to this and the school is no longer. I get bills saying I graduated and I was only thier for 2 months the where only supposed to take out for one class and they took out way more.
Financial aid, not accredited,
I was also intrigued regarding the one course a month theme, and I should of known better, My instructors was great, but my issues was with the financial aid people. Yes they lied a lot, my first experience was when I was filling out the financial aid paperwork, the individual had told me what answers to fill in, and then of course that they was fully accredited, no they were not, and probably still are not. Also you all know that there is something wrong when it is time to renew your financial aid paperwork but your not going to be in the school the whole year, I was done in August 2011, when I asked to renew my paperwork I was told in may of that year not to worry everything was taken care of I had asked how this was done then I was informed that they had used my information from the previous year. This is wrong
i file a complaint through the board of education and got nothing but Lies. the only choice is that it to court. I wrote a journal when i attend classes at Brown Mackie college if I get five students willing to pay 2500 dollars and a guaranteed contract with attorney to pay a retainer fee. this meeting can be set up within one week. call me at [protected] and leave me a message referring to this comment. This issues out of control.
I am a victim of Brown Mackie College also. Basically the same experience, lies about accreditation and so on. I was notified by email that the school was closing. I was even told that I was guaranteed to pass every course and graduate by the director of the program I was in. I must say that the instructors that I had the privilege to meet and interact with are exceptionally dedicated to the students. As for administration watch your back.
Nothing but trouble
I enrolled into the occupational therapy assistant program last year. I had credits from a few years back and they transferred to this degree, so I could have completed my degree in less than a year. I applied for financial aid. Got my lons and grants. Everything was settled, and I began going to class. I received an overage check for about $300 from them. Asked about it, FA said everything was fine and this money was extra, so it was mine. I cashed the check and paid bills with it. A week later, they called and told me I had to return the check or pay it back, they made an error. I couldn't pay that money back. Plus, it was their error, so I didn't feel I was responsible for this. During my 3rd month, I was pulled from class and told that I owe them over $1000, and that I had to pay it immediately or else I could no longer attend classes. I offered to make payments, that wasn't good enough. I was not informed of any amount I would have to pay out of pocket when I applied for FA and grants. Was told it was a charge for an IPad that I got when I signed up. Well, that's not worth $1000. They won't explain the other charges. I wound up having to drop out of school and am now in collections for over $1k. I would love to sue this company, as they are complete scam artists and not worth a dime.
Low, poor quality education
I began attending this school in August 2009, and it wasn't long before I discovered that they weren't even accredited. They had people with no more than associates degrees teaching, but this was updated before I received my own associates. The selling point for me was that I could walk to school, and it was only one course per month for full-time...

I attended Brown Mackie College of Tulsa, Oklahoma. I'm 12 hours away from completing my externship and they are trying to tell me that I have to redo my externship hours that they feel is appropriate. I disagree with this completely how I look should have NO barring on my ability to perform my job. They forced me into getting partial teeth, because I was told that if I did NOT do this I would not go to externship nor be able to graduate. Because I thought I would be done with my externship by Wednesday November 26, 2014 I had set up a meeting with another clinic to meet with the office manager and begin work. Can anyone tell me any attorneys that would be able to help me with this issue. I would surely appreciate the help. Please email me at [protected]@yahoo.com.

money scam
I began classes at brown Mackie back in 2009 and I attended 2 classes and due to my situation I was unable to continue classes there so I did the proper pray far as me leaving and now I'm in dept and I can't attend school because my loan are in default mind u I only took a couple of classes literally and I have a total of 5 student loans out from then I'm trying to progress as a person and can't because that school took money that wasn't theirs or mine now I'm paying the price for it

Clearly, English was not one of the classes you paid for.
Misuse of money and misguided education
I have been here at Brown Mackie College for more than a year now and I don't feel any closer to learning what I was suppose to know. This school has seriously scammed so many people out of their money its ridiculous. I haven't seen not a dime of the money I received from federal grants or either of the loans I have taken out, but instead I am in a position...

Denial into nursing clinical
My complaint is I was denied entry into nursing clinical after completing all nursing pre-requisites, physical, immunizations, CPR and everything needed to be considered for the nursing program at the time of my enrollment a teas score of 50 was required. After finishing all courses and submitting my application into clinical i was denied because my teas score was not a 58 which they now required without notification to any students. And BMC students are only allowed to take the teas test 3 times in a two year period which my submitted score was my third attempt i was told i could not take the teas test again for 2 years and it was suggested i consider transferring into the MA program which means another 10 months of school upon completion of this program i would walk away with a certificate that would give me the opportunity to make less money than i make now and be thousands of dollars in debt. Anyone with a similar situation with BMC Lenexa could contact me @ [protected]@yahoo.com Looking for a school that will accept me into clinical with my teas score and my GPA of 3.4
I came across your posting on complaint.com and I am interested in speaking with you. I have been in healthcare since 2000 doing billing, collections, payment posting and want to advance myself in this industry. I have thought about getting a Bachelors in Healthcare Mngt. I have spoken to several recruiters, several HR dpts, in response to their ads to see what the requirements are to fill in a position, such as NURSING. Experience is what they are looking for mainly. But the degree goes hand-in-hand. I want to change my major to the NURSING program they have. But what I found out is you can only become an LPN with the Associates they offer. You get your degree, you contact the state, apply to take exam, and you will be on your way. Its a process. Now to become a RN, I called my local community college and what they require is an Associates in Arts in Nursing from an accredited school, to go for your BSN - to become a RN = MORE MONEY. But Unf the credits do not transfer. I am feeling disappointed like you. My hopes in working front end as a Nurse is out the window if I stay in this school. Unless I want to settle for LPN.
How are you doing so far and whats to come of your journey?
Hope to speak w you soon.
I received my Associates Degree in Medical Assisting from BMC in Hopkinsville, Ky. I could explain all the "shady" things this school was knowingly taking part in, but it would result in a novel. What angers me the most is the education I received was not even being taught by licensed teachers. I had one teacher that failed 75 % of her students. She bragged about the high failure rate. After I graduated, the school was investigated. They found that some teachers were employed on their work experience only. They informed her she had to get her Degree within a certain time frame to continue teaching. She enrolled in a school online and failed the course. She was fired. I have $31, 000 in loans to be taught be unqualified teachers. On teacher that taught Phlebotomy was a combat medic in the military. They gave him a job teaching with only that experience. I had previously taken the classroom portion of Phlebotomy and I was correcting him on the procedure. I can't work because I haven't received the education to do the job correctly. I refuse to be responsible for causing harm to another because I wasn't taught correctly. If you hear of any lawsuits against this school then count me in. I'm bitter and feel that they took away my chance to succeed in my career choice. Thank you.

Lies and program requirements
my complaint is that I recently attended BMC Lenexa campus in the LPN program having completed all my prerequisites and taking the nursing teas test for the third time and completing all requirements to enter nursing clinical I was denied entry in to clinical because my teas score was not acceptable as they required a score of 58 which was not the case when I entered the program. There requirement of a teas score of 58 was just introduced into the program with no notification to students currently attending the nursing program with hopes of getting into clinical. As soon as I was denied entry it was suggested I might consider enrolling into the MA program which would make attend school for another 10 months and following completion of this program I would be able to make less money than I make now and be thousands of dollars in debt with nothing to show. the teas score at the time I entered school was a passing score of 50 which I have. I finished my pre-requisites with one month delay in starting clinical as I had no more classes to take. I spoke with admissions, the director of nursing, medical director and financial aid before taking the month off during this time the teas score requirement went up and I was told I was a new enrollment and has to follow the new guidelines for entering clinical. I should be doing clinical now instead I'm trying to find a school that will admit me in to clinical. My graduation date should be August 2014 but now I have not a clue as to when and where I will graduate from. my teas score is above 50 and my GPA is 3.4
I am going through the exact same thing!
I am dealing with the exact same problem right now!
Stolen Funds and Poor Education
This is by far the WORSE college in all of the USA. They have stolen money from injured Iraq War Veterans, Veterans, Non Veterans and etc. Their education does not mean anything once your out of this place. No real college or university will accept your credits unless you finish and then it is still really really rare. Please do yourself a favor and go else where. I can not believe what these people have done to me. They have destroyed my life and my career. I wasted almost two years of my life and have nothing to show for it but thousands of dollars of debt and an estranged attitude towards colleges anymore. I have NEVER in my life met a staff that hates their jobs and their life more then these people. I was injured in Iraq in 2008 and I wish I would have stayed away from this college and these people. They have actually made it harder to live in this world. The negativity and theft that has occurred from this college to me is totally unreal. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE hear my warning and go else where. You will never find a good job and if you move out of this area I promise you it is 10000xs harder to find a job as their "education" is just a joke of all colleges and universities.

Biggest Mistake
Brown Mackie is not who they say they are. I graduated from the Vet Tech program less than 9 months ago and have nothing to show for it. No jobs and no leads. I have had interviews and work interviews, but they never lead anywhere and at a couple of them I overheard and was told directly that they don't usually hire Brown Mackie Students. The teachers in...
Read full review of Brown Mackie CollegeEducational Quality and Treatment of Instructors
I was an instructor at Brown Mackie College in Indianapolis during 2013. If you are considering working for or attending this school, do yourself a favor and look at the facts. They offer an accelerated program--a semester's "learning, " as they call it, in one month. This is their main selling point. There is a reason why no one else offers this--it's a terrible idea. It doesn't work.
If you are a student taking a course, you cannot absorb information in classes that are four hours long. More importantly, you can't possibly expect effective instruction from a professor who has to teach for four hours, per day, three days a week. Why? Because each class session requires four hours, minimum, of preparation. If you attend their classes, you will note that it often seems like instructors are unprepared and/or haven't read the material they are assigning. It seems this way because in many cases, it's true. Now, add to that workload the time it takes to grade papers, tests and homework. So the instructor is teaching for 12 hours per week, and, if he or she doesn't blow it off, spends and additional 15 hours per week preparing to teach and grading. This comes to 27 hours a week, per course. Except that is not all. Instructors are expected to attend mandatory meetings. Now, if you think this isn't bad, consider this: the majority of instructors are adjuncts. They take as many courses as they can get. But because Brown Mackie only offers morning and evening classes they arrive at class at 9 a.m. and teach until 9:30 or ten p.m. How effective do you think these people can be on this schedule? Why no afternoon classes? Because they are less profitable and this place is about profit. Part-timers may be able to go home and nap, in some cases, but for the full-timers, the situation is worse. Because they are on salary, they are expected to be there from 8:30 pm., and often, to work until 10. There were many cases I heard off where a boss demanded that an instructor work for 12 hours at a stretch. It is not possible to do this and have anything left, mentally, to offer in the classroom. There is no time to read a book, no time to think. Their professors are professors in name only. If you think they have nothing to offer you in the classroom, you are right. This schedule will turn you into a stressed-out zombie in no time. Brown Mackie's treatment of students is just as bad. They recruit heavily among poor people. One of their sales gambits is to talk single mothers into thinking this school is good for them. Notice their marketing: the people in their ads tend to be minorities. There is a reason for this, and it's not that they are broad-minded, believe me. It's that they are targeting the poorest, most vulnerable members of the population, delivering a 10th-rate "education, " putting them on financial aid, and crippling them with lifelong debt. The profits from this profit center go straight to their parent company, the infamous Goldman Sachs. Look up Goldman Sachs, and if you are thinking of teaching here, or going to school here, ask yourself if you want to be a slave to a corporate entity with a record like theirs.
I was also an adjunct instructor in this "school". As an adjunct, I was paid a flat rate per class regardless of the number of students in the class which tended to be 20-30. To be an effective instructor, I had to work 2-3 hours for every 1 hour in class plus the mandatory meetings. The poor design of classes forced me to supplement the meager material I was given and to devise my own lesson plans. I only taught evening classes because I had a full-time job elsewhere and had to make accommodations to attend the meetings. If I calculated an hourly rate, I was making far less than minimum wage!
On top of that, due to their misplaced and aggressive marketing techniques, most of the students I had were not engaged and unwilling to learn. Easily 90% of my students were there just so they could get their stipend from their student loans. While I felt sorry for them, I felt worse for the 10% that really wanted to learn and suffered through financial issues even to simply get their outrageously expensive books. Even though I put all of my efforts into those students, many of their other instructors had less integrity, poorer qualifications and less compassion for their students than I did. I'm very proud of those students who worked hard despite of the circumstances and excelled! They are the only reason I stayed as long as I did.
Brown Mackie's program wears down students and instructors alike with their focus on sales, number of students, poor class design, and willingness to accept unqualified instructors. My heart reaches out to students and instructors alike who feel trapped in the grip of despair that is Brown Mackie.
How do I join the class action lawsuit?
Brown Mackie Scam
I was misled by Brown Mackie College! I was suckered in by their one course a month plan. I was told that my tuition would be roughly $35, 000 which is extremely excessive. I was told that the majority of schools in Georgia would take credits from BMC and with participating in the Early Childhood program I would be allowed to teach 5th grade social studies this was a lie! I later found out that I would only be able to work in a pre-k/daycare setting. Now that I've made the decision to no longer attend I've told that I owe the school $1, 700, but why? Shouldn't my tuition have been covered? I couldn't have started my last class if it hadn't so how do I owe anything? Brown Mackie is by far the worst decision I've made in my adult life. I'm 22 and I'm $10, 000 in debt? If anyone is considering attending DON'T!
