Esso - Car wash

To whom it may concern,

After pumping my gas in my SUV I went into the station and paid for my gas and purchased a car wash. After entering the car wash station and placing my SUV in park, the soap was sprayed on it. It was then squirted with what I believe is water the windshield started to crack right across the windshield

On Friday January 14, 2022 at 10:11 a.m. after pumping my gas, I paid for it and purchased a car wash at the Esso gas station located at 632 Burnhamthorpe Road West, Mississauga, ON L5B 2C4.

At 10:25 a. m I entered the car wash station and placed my SUV in park, the soap was sprayed on the vehicle. It was then squirted with what I believed is water, and right then in front of my eyes the windshield then started to crack.

I immediately drove out of the car wash and parked in front of the station and went inside to advise the attendant what had happened. He advised that they will have to file a claim with the corporation office. I requested for his name, the address of the station, and a business card. He advised he is the manger and does not have a business card. He ripped off the top of a receipt and gave me the location address and then he wrote on a blank receipt the name of the owner with his number. I asked several times for his insurance information he advised he does not have that. He did eventually come out of the station and look at the windshield with me. And then he did request my personal information in order to file a case, of which I did provide him with all my personal information.

On that same day I did call ESSO’s head office and filed a complaint with the office which was then transferred over to their 3rd party investigations department.

On Monday January 17, 2022 I did receive a call and email from a customer service representative named Tania Bouffard from Couche-tard/Circle K. She advised she will be handling my file.

On Friday January 28, 2022 I received a registered letter from a market manager named John Divirgilio stating their investigation is unfounded and Mac’s is not responsible for the damages to my windshield.

On the back of the receipts nor in the gas station or car wash was there any signage or notification stating that the gas station is not liable for any damages to vehicles. All I ask for is for the repair of my windshield that is OEM and calibrated correctly from the dealership. It is of great importance for my safety as this vehicle is vital for my essential needs of health, rehab, and necessities for myself and two small children. As I have suffered a severe life or death brain tumor which resulted in me being in the hospital for 3 months. Due to covid and the major health concerns it is crucial I have a safe vehicle to attend to my private rehab. In addition to taking my daughter to school.

At this time all I ask for is the repair of my windshield. I appreciate all your help and assistance in this urgent matter.
