They messed up more than $10,000 worth of furniture and didn't even deny it. They only gave us a measly $580 (which they later dropped to $90) to fix the damages. We paid them extra for packaging because they said they had skilled folks to handle it, especially given the long distance of the move. But guess what? Their workers were totally stoned on marijuana, which explains the shoddy packaging and the resulting damage. We complained to the ComplaintsBoard.com (ComplaintsBoard.com), but they still wouldn't take responsibility for the wrecked furniture. Seriously, steer clear of these guys!

They took great care of all my stuff and paid attention to every little thing. Plus, their customer service was top-notch. The team was super friendly and always there to help with any questions or worries. If I ever have to move again, I'm definitely calling California New York Express. I totally recommend them!

I don't usually write reviews, but I gotta say, I'm really suspicious of all those glowing reviews for this company. When my stuff finally made it to NY, it was in terrible shape. Every single box was crushed, and a third of the moving blankets that were supposed to protect my furniture had holes from wear and tear during the trip. And to top it off, I found a bunch of broken items in the boxes, like my metal grill pan that was totally shattered. I've moved across the country twice before, so I know moving can be rough on your stuff, but this was just way too much. On top of all that, the movers didn't even bother with social distancing. They took off their masks and didn't even wash their hands. And to make matters worse, one of them was talking to his friend about not feeling well. Trust me, find another company to move with.

(Updating my previous review) After posting my review in ComplaintsBoard.com, John from customer service helped address most of our issues - the ones that he could - and was able to offer a refund of the items we had to replace or were damaged. Not all businesses do that, so thanks for that. He also helped clarify that the cost of the packaging ultimately was half than what had been stated to us, but no one could figure out why the price tag was initially so high. Still, I'm miffed by many of the things we experienced and was hoping for something a lot smoother given than my previous cross-country move with another company was nothing like this - or with this price tag. I suppose with everything, there's a bit of trust involved. I do appreciate John and CANYX's efforts to make things right.

This review is a mix of my experience with the movers in NJ and CA. The movers in NJ were quick and let me borrow their tools to dismantle the crib. They were professional and took good care of everything. However, the movers in CA were a different story. My belongings sat in their warehouse for a week without any communication. I had to contact them to schedule a move date. When the movers finally arrived, some of the moving bins were broken and the boxes were in terrible condition. They also forgot to load my couch, so I had to wait an additional two days for it to be delivered. When the couch was finally delivered, they accidentally dented the wall while moving it. After all of this, I regretted giving them the tip I did. I won't be using this moving company again.

It was a big job that cost quite a bit of money but I was satisfied with the quote given me from the company. In New York, the crew worked quite hard and seemed professional packing up the contents of the apartment. In LA it was the opposite and AWFUL. There were broken items, missing items, and as part of our contract, the moving company was supposed to assemble a select few pieces of furniture. They DID NOT DO THE JOB. There were missing screws and additional parts that they LOST in the move. Before signing the bill I asked for an assurance that the job would be finished properly. The crew leader looked me in the eye and promised me to come back and assemble everything himself in the next couple of days. This was a LIE. I spent weeks going after the company's customer service and asking for help or some money back. After wasting hours of my time I was given around $200 back for an unfinished job, broken and missing items. The shipment also arrived LATE. BUYER BEWARE.

I used to work in the moving biz a long time ago, and I've moved a bunch of times. CA NY Exprerss was hands down the best moving company ever. From the estimate by David to the delivery of all our stuff, they were top-notch. We had a crew of 5 dudes and a big ol' 30-foot truck. Me and the missus did some of the packing ourselves, but we didn't quite finish in time for pickup. But guess what? The crew showed up right on schedule, and they were super friendly and professional. They helped us finish up the packing with big smiles on their faces. They even took apart our beds and put 'em back together like it was no big deal. And get this, not a single thing went missing or got messed up. It was so nice to have a real moving crew, you know? These guys are trained and take their job seriously. It's not just some random gig for them. And here's the best part: they didn't try to upsell us or sneak in any extra charges. Their contract was crystal clear, and they stuck to it. Who would've thought that moving, which is usually a total nightmare, could actually be enjoyable? We can't recommend this moving company enough.

We picked this company 'cause they got that ComplaintsBoard.com accreditation and rating. We just moved from NJ to LA and we found out that the crew on the NY side purposely left off some things from the list. Specifically, they swiped a $2,700 iMac (it was in the original Mac box and was clearly valuable). They also took our Amazon Echo and some of the boxes came all busted up and we ain't sure what else is missing. The boss on the NY side was named Bruce. If you see Bruce show up at your place, be careful 'cause he's running some kind of scam with his crew. He'll talk your ear off and keep you busy. He's got this whole story about being a navy seal. We were super stressed out with our 2-year-old and dog and trying to handle everything with the move, and Bruce and his crew took advantage of us. When our stuff got to CA, these things conveniently weren't on the list. So when I asked, "Where's my big computer?" the company said, "That wasn't on the original list so we can't do anything." We've been on the phone with customer support, we've emailed 'em and they're real slow to respond and they ain't planning on giving us any money back or getting our stuff back. So I wanna warn y'all, RUN! Don't use this company, and if Bruce shows up at your place, check that list three times. Also, we picked 'em 'cause of the move-in date and they said we could have it. But when we got to California, they said they were all booked up that day and we had to change the date by a few days and sleep on an air mattress. Not cool. RUN!

Incredibly disapointing experience.
After discussing the move-in date on multiple occasions as May 15th and asking what the best pickup date would be to meet that delivery date, he confirmed May 5th.
The movers came May 5th, they were great, and I thought this would be a good experience. Other than the fact that they raised the price $900 for 5 boxes and a bike.
Their emails encourage you not to follow-up. "DONT CALL US, Were on it".
So, naturally I didnt call when it said delivery date between May 14-20th.
Thinking that theyd do what they agreed to on our numerous conversations.
3 days later I get an email stating they havent left California. I dont panic, they still have a week to get to NY.
3 days after that. Same update. Your items havent left LA.
I call, theyre closed at 4:30 on a weekday.
Naturally, I dont get a callback, so I call the next day. They inform me that theyre going to LEAVE LA on the 15th and if I had a specific date I should have called earlier?!
Explaining how this was my mistake. Not the employee WHO PICKED the pickup date with me to insure an on-time delivery.
"I should have reached out!" When ALL their emails state NOT TO REACH OUT!
They tell me no need to worry, itll be delivered on the 19th. Its the 19th. Now Im told I cant get it delivered today, maybe tomorrow.
Ive spent $500 on a room and a rental car until they show up.
They offered me a 3% discount. $100
Well see what theyve broken tomorrow when I get my stuff. If I get my stuff.
Theyve broken my wine cooler, swifter and punctured a bike tire.
Tldr:
Their price quotes were grossly inaccurate.
They have horrendous communication standards.
They hold your items in state for 10 days.

Don't use this company. They haven't responded to my complaints, which I'll share with you here: Things started off great with quick responses from customer service and a sleek interface for getting a quote. The quote was expensive, but I thought it must be because of the distance and good service. I was wrong. Things go downhill from here. The move out of our 2 bedroom 1.5 bath apartment took 5 hours. We packed all the items ourselves, so it's unclear why it took so long. When we moved out of our same-sized apartment, the movers from another company took 2 hours. Even my neighbors said they were surprised the movers were at the apartment for so long. The movers spent too much time and material wrapping and taping items, even those that didn't need wrapping (like a foam dog bed, a plastic desk chair mat, a plastic garbage can). They charged $1,400 for wrapping, which is too much. (Oh, and the plastic desk chair mat broke and has a big crack in it.) The movers dropped several boxes on the ground outside when loading them on a dolly to move them from the property into the truck. Some items got damaged. None of them are priceless, but it's very disappointing considering the price of this move. They also didn't tell me that it happened. I saw it happen through the window. Very unprofessional. I wasn't allowed to check the cubic feet in the truck, which would have been important to confirm that it matched the quoted number. Our movers to CA (another company) let us into the truck and showed us the markings on the side that indicated how much space was used with our items. There was a big issue with billing since the transaction was canceled while processing. They asked me to use a different credit card even though my bank had already shown the withdrawal. Very suspicious. The issue is probably with their credit card processing vendor Clover, but they showed a lack of empathy and ability to find a solution that would reduce any additional stress. I asked multiple times to speak with the accounting team at my bank, and the customer service rep refused to connect me with them. The movers scratched the walls in both of my apartments. They took a package of face masks that I had out for myself, which was near where they put their coats/things, and it wasn't there when they left. They didn't pack the masks with any of my items. I assume it was a mistake. The movers broke my water filter by dropping it on the ground after using it to pour water. I bought the movers Gatorade, but they drank it all and asked to use the Brita filter. They broke it while trying to refill it. I sent this list to the company, but they haven't responded. Not worth the money. I wouldn't recommend it.
