flooring/install
Hello,
I have one thing to say, if you want real opinion on canoak go and see it for yourself, ask for refrences or check with BBB.The company has new owners since Nov.2010 and the service as well as product is superb. I also noticed that the same complaint was posted twice under different names on few websides. It makes you wonder is this a customer or competition? Don't let others influence your judgement be your own judge.

Bad service
We purchased hardwood flooring from this company in June 07. We made our decision based on a sample at the store as well as a sales rep who talked about the great value of the floor as well as the industrial finish and wonderful warranty on the product as long as we used their installer.
Within days of the floor being installed it started to fall apart
Large chunks fell out of the floor and knots popped out. It slivered and became jagged in spots. The installation was horrible as well. There are huge gaps between the boards & in many spots you can actually see the subfloor beneath.
After trying to get somewhere with the owner of the company not only on issues of the quality of the floor but also with the installation and getting nowhere, we contacted the BBB. We found there were numerous complaints filed against Canoak and most of them remain unresolved. We tried to work out a deal with the owner where we were willing to to pay the difference between the product which was sold to us and a higher grade floor but he refused to do that. He wanted us to foot the entire bill and refused to accept any responsiblity for misrepresenting the product and poor installation. Apparently the great warranty which was used to sell the product was non-existent.
The owner wouldn't deal with the BBB and complained that we were unreasonable and wanted him to pay because we changed our minds on which flooring we wanted! He was very rude and condescending towards us. All we wanted was the flooring that was shown to us in their showroom - not the inferior product which ended up being installed in our home.
After speaking with others over the past year and telling our story we have heard of others with similar scenarios. It seems the bottom line is getting the sale for this company. I would take my business elsewhere. If you search reviews of Canoak on the internet you will see others with similar stories to tell.

Poor service, sold additional material not required by consumer.
The owner Of Canoak Flooring Bill Eva who also owns another store called Regent Avenue Hardwood where he sells the same product but takes off the sticker name(model) off the box to sell the exact same product which he does for less, so the Quality of wood you purchese at Canoak for the higher price is pretty much based on service. Now the question is do you want to deal with a man who stands behind his bussiness with 33 small claims court actions alone from [protected](not including the many more that are not even followed up and filed against him) and who ranks with a Failing grade when it comes to the Better Business Bureau?. Both are easily viewible in a Court of Queen Bench search or contacting BBB, but why would you deal with an owner who has a track record of poor quality.
I have worked for this company a few years back for well over a year delivering the product to the many homes that have ordered it and the numerious complaints i recieved about him far succeded the legal actions taken from his poor bussiness conduct, and almost all problems were a direct fault of the owner Bill Eva himself. I couldnt even fathom to count the times that he would spend trying to manipulate the contract to mis word it to rereprsent it to suport his actions so that it would play out in a long battle at which time most people would loose the drive to persue justly fighting him to the end.
while Bill Eva of Canoak Flooring and all the others in most busnesses is that they along with Bill Eva want you to be happy with the product, the reverse side is if you are not satisfied most companies will recitfy it or work with the customer to fix the problem. With Bill Eva if you are for anyway unsatisfied or there is any problems with the work or the product, well, thats the customers problem then not his and he will look at any problem you have as a game and chase you around at your expense.
Now do you want to buy a new floor or play games?
I am going to court tomorrow to deal with Canoak flooring. We have a lot of ovearage in the orignial boxes and we are expected to foot the bill. Bill Eva is a terrible man to deal with. If you would like further information anyone can email jremps@mts.net. Wish me luck.

Well looks like these comments are for old owner of Canoak Flooring.
We have our floors installed few weeks ago and quality of the product is very good as well the installation.
Looks like new Canoak Flooring ( new owner ) is completely deferent then under direction of Bill Eva ( old owner). From the beginning to the end of installation all Canoak staff were very helpful and customer oriented.
My sister floor was installed by Canoak last week and she was very happy with all service from start to the end.
Thank you
Chris .
