Horrible, I bought a air conditioner that was advertised as brand new
Horrible, I bought a air conditioner that was advertised as brand new. Got it home and it didn't work. Called and they said you have to check out your items in the warehouse before you leave. Not sure where I was suppose to unbox it and plug it in there but after a 2 hour drive to pick it up and calling, I was able to return it. The guys was extremely rude and they blocked me from bidding. I understand things don't always work but at least have some customer service.

If I could have submitted 0 stars, I would have!
If I could have submitted 0 stars, I would have! Buyer Beware! This business is a SCAM! I bought a small storage cabinet for $200. When I opened the sealed box at home, one side had been damaged and a leg was detached. The area surrounding the detached leg was broken and unstable. The leg could not be reattached. The second item was a small corner storage cabinet which required assembly. It, too, was described as NEW and packaged and sealed. I paid $23, however after opening the box, I discovered NO hardware or directions for assembly. It is very difficult to get in touch with them because they dont provide a phone number. After a week of emailing, I received an email stating no refunds..no matter the condition. What! I repeatedly asked for name and phone number, but that was never provided. Do not get suckered in to this business!

I can't believe all these negative reviews
I can't believe all these negative reviews. People need to read all the terms and conditions of the auctions. I have never had a problem getting a refund on something that was labeled "new" but was damaged or otherwise not as listed. But I did it before I removed the item from the warehouse. When I bid on something that is not new, I know in advance that things may not turn out well for me as I will, under no circumstances, get a refund. So I bid accordingly. I have made out very well on many of these items as I was willing to take a chance. Now the reason for 3 stars. The old website seemed to work better. The new website is very sluggish and at times I cannot bid in the evening because the site simply will not load. I have a fast internet connection (200 MBPS) so that is not the issue. I have tested it on multiple computers and had the same result. During the day it loads fine; it's just in the evening when everyone is bidding. LOL

BEWARE! I feel scammed, I bought a "New in box Magic Chef Cooktop" for our kitchen
BEWARE! I feel scammed, I bought a "New in box Magic Chef Cooktop" for our kitchen. Drove three hours to get it along with a few other items that we had excitedly won, we just moved in our house and are trying our best to get what we need at fair prices. I understand the notes on items to check before you leave the warehouse but being during COVID I did not want to handle the boxes until I could have disinfectant. I was not worried about the product since the box said what the product was, and was not damaged in any way, the guys at the auction put it all in the bed of my truck for me which was very nice. I opened the product the following day only to find that the box had an old dusty subwoofer in it and a piece of plywood to make it feel like it was a flat cooktop. I was so SHOCKED, I spent over $100 on this item, took time off of work to drive down as they only have a 4p-7p window for pick up, and was completely fooled. I reached out to the auction house immediately letting them know what had happened and asked them for a refund or even just a credit as I would love to do business there. I offered to drive back down and return the falsely advertised item to them as well in order to receive credit. Their response was quick and an absolute no, that it was my fault I did not check. I do understand I should have checked, and under different circumstances, I would have. I'm so dismayed at their lack of loyalty to customers, I was very excited to continue doing business there. It all ended up feeling so much worse when we got on the ComplaintsBoard.com and saw that this happens to SO MANY people that give their hard-earned money to Capital City Auctions.

Buyer Beware
Buyer Beware... Borderline false advertising practices performed here, if this was done intentionally, or if what happened to me happens to others. Regardless what results is absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional behavior when they are called out for THEIR mistakes. I won an auction that was listed as NEW which according to their terms is illegible for a refund, but only before it leaves the warehouse mind you. This is fine, and within reason, but do they truly expect a customer to OPEN every box if the item is listed as NEW and the box is not damaged in any way and still has staples and straps all intact? The Item I won was listed and described as a more expensive version of the basic model, but when I opened it after getting home it became clear it wasn't the higher level item as listed but was just the basic model. The way the item was listed very much affected the amount I was willing to bid. The ONLY way I would have caught this before leaving the warehouse was opening the New boxes and verifying every single part, which is unreasonable if the box is fully undamaged, I expect a company to be selling the item as advertised and listed, not advertise a more expensive model and then deliver the less expensive basic one. When I contacted the auction manager 'Nick' that evening his response was not apologetic or even close to professional it was just hateful. "Once it's left the pickup it is yours". no apology no explanation was offered. When I asked if I'm expected to open up brand new boxes at the warehouse his answer was to snidely say "Did you miss the line on your invoice that says no refunds once you leave" And to really top off this pitiful display of business etiquette he apparently disabled my bidding account because the next day I was no longer able to log into the auction website.

Unbelievable
Unbelievable. I have never did an auction here before but several co workers said they did it and sometimes its just a scratch or something little may be broken that is an easy fix. I bid on a sectional sofa L shape. Looked good and said New, unknown if complete, preview to determine completeness, refundable if different described here, and before the item leaves the building. So I went to the warehouse, inspected the box, asked where the other boxes were and he said I should have previewed before bidding on it. Apparently PREVIEW means I had come the day of preview to see if everything was there. (Mind you it had everything listed in the description of the picture they showed down to the three pillows) They knew the whole sofa was not there. It had one flat box and thats it. I got a box with all the fixtures for the full sofa. I spoke to the manager and she was so rude. My brother was being very nice, asking her why she was yelling and this is really bad customer service. She told me to go to *** to get better service. She said she scans a bar on the box and if thats what comes up thats what they put on the site. I call bull c*** No way a whole sofa would fit in this box. She tried to threaten me saying I could leave and shes taking my bid number down and I would never be able to bid again. Not sure how that would hurt me. So I spent $250 on a piece of sofa with fixtures for a full L shape sofa. So please call if you have any questions and If it says PREVIEW GO AND CHECK IT OUT since apparently they want to take money from people and could care less about what they are doing. She yelled and said this Stuff starts out at $1 so if you want the right stuff go and buy it for whole price. I think that was the only think I agreed on. She definitely knew what she did and I know thats why she was getting angry. Then she told me I wasting her time.

Glass front beverage refrigerator
I purchased a glass front mini refrigerator on March 7th, 2024 for $166.90 that was described in the listing as "New". It was in the original box but taped up with a lot of extra tape. When I got it home and unpacked it, the inside glass door was not only broken out, but the pieces of the door weren't even in the packaging. It had clearly been broken out...

This business is a SCAM. I looked up several of the items they are selling and the MSRP they list is anywhere from 3-10% higher than the actual cost. They also use bid-rigging tactics to drive the pricing higher. Do yourself a favor and use eBay instead.

The describe items on the postings incorrectly or misleading. I purchased an item labeled incomplete and the description said it was a bunk bed missing a mattress. I believe what K. Whitting said in her post. Many Online auctions scam people all the time and I was the gullible recipient of many broken, incomplete, missing parts and things like changing cords. I will never shop online auctions again for this reason.
One time I returned a dirty broken carpet shampooer with missing parts, a rusted out garbage disposal that looked like it had been sitting in someone's barn for 20 years, and a set of weighing scales that was jammed and dysfunctional, to the auction people because I got tired of throwing away their broken merchandise and thought they needed to throw it away instead. They banned me from using their site because I returned their trash.
Capitol City Online Auctions: It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to open boxes, check to see what parts are missing if any, if it is electric you need to plug it in to see if it works, check to see if things have been used and if they are dirty, etc, and it is your responsibility to put this information in your post. IT IS YOUR JOB to check things out before you sell them. Some auction sites do this. If you don't, then you are lazy, a scammer, a participant in bait and switch, and you are trying to earn a buck illegally. I hope your business fails!

Auction #4138X Lawrence 3/17 Invoice # [protected]-*** I purchased Telpro 1101-22 Tele-Tower Adjustable work platform for $692.30 I sent
Auction #4138X Lawrence 3/17 Invoice # [protected]-*** I purchased Telpro 1101-22 Tele-Tower Adjustable work platform for $692.30 I sent two guys from Dennison to pick up item (200 miles round trip), it did not say in the description that it was not complete, it said This item Is New The biggest part of the lift is missing. Notified Lawrence that night about the problem. Next day he sent an email to notify the owner, on 3/18 emailed with pics. I had emailed again on 3/23 still no answer.

I have been told that they take payments up to 8pm
I have been told that they take payments up to 8pm. Of the night you win an auction. On Sept 10 I won diapers, I was called into work late. I sent my cc info like always. My card was not ran because it was after 730. I emailed them and they said they do not take it past 7, yet they call you after 7 if payment hasn't been received. When I emailed them they said that I would have to pay the restocking fee in person?! So you can pay over texts and the auction person in charge of the items you win can send in your payment over texts, but you can't pay a restocking fee over email? Whoever is answering the emails are seriously unprofessional, disrespectful, and flat lie to customers. There has been several times that I missed an invoice and sent my credit card thru email and it has been taken care of. The invoice I am referring to was on 9/10 and to this day nothing has been done and no one reads the previous email to see what is going on. Frankly I should not have to pay the "restocking" of 38% of what you won it for when you just put it back up for sale on the next auction. Not to mention that you don't have a better way to pay for things. Online maybe?

I won a bid on a SonyX800G 49 inch 4k UHD Smart TV, from Auction #5055X and paid $249.02 on 7/28
I won a bid on a SonyX800G 49 inch 4k UHD Smart TV, from Auction #5055X and paid $249.02 on 7/28. This item was advertised as in open retail packaging.
I was unable to attend a preview of this item but since the description did not state that the item could be damaged or not operable, I proceeded with the bid. When I wen to pick up the TV Rob couldn't find it and had to get help as it was not on the floor or in the caged area (where other electronics were at). Rob did finally get help and the TV was brought out from behind the door of this area. There was a sign you must check your item before leaving the building. As I was taking the TV out Rob said I had to take it anyway so there was no need to check it. When this TV was plugged up it did not work at ALL! I am totally upset with an organization that would sell items that don't work at all to unsuspecting individuals. I understand that you can get an item that is incomplete or has some flaws but to sell in the box items that don't work at all is simply not right! I fell the description of the item was deceptive and I feel like I am a victim of theft of my money by this deception. it's like buying a product in the box that is merely a shell. I certainly would not buy such an item and regret this purchase. I am just a senior citizen who is new to the world of participating in auctions and was looking to save money by getting a good deal. I reached out to John who was the auction manager by text but got no response so I am reaching out to the ComplaintsBoard.com in hopes that I can get a resolution with this business. t would like a refund of my money.

I bid on an item and when I went to pick it up, it was broken
I bid on an item and when I went to pick it up, it was broken. They make you pay before seeing the item so when I asked for a refund, Jerry refused to give it to me as well as the female auction manager of Greenpointe. They were both very rude and just stated that if the description didn't state "New" it was being sold as is and no refunds would be given.
I bid on a Husky Garage Shelving Unit with a retail value of $199.00. When I bid on the item, there was a description of the item and at the bottom of the description, it said . (that is normally where they would say if the item was new or not). The picture of the item was a Stock photo. I have a picture of the broken item they tried to force me to take and can provide it if needed. I would hope that as a consumer, I have some protections from buying items of a certain dollar value which are broken or unusable. If I bought a $10 that was broken, I could probably live with it. But, when I pay over $100 for an item, I hope I am protected from misrepresentations. Another thing they tell you is that you should have come to the Auction Preview which nobody attends -- they honestly don't have the staff or organization if every single bidder decided to "preview" the day before. They could also not allow every single bidder inside to preview with COVID restrictions and pick-ups going on at the same time. It's not realistic in any way. This is the second time this has happened to me with them trying to force a broken item on me. When you complain, they block your bidder number and move on. For anyone else complaining about this business, you can also file your complaint with the Ohio Attorney General.
