Bill pay
On June 1st, 2023 I accidentally paid closed Chase credit card through Capital One Bill Pay. My bad, no questions asked. I filed a claim with Capital One as well as Chase hoping to reverse the transaction. Capital One customer service told me that the transaction was legitimate and there's nothing they can help me with. Chase was willing to return my money, but the problem was that Capital One bill pay still had my old address (that I changed a year ago on my account) on the proof of electronic payment they provided me with. Because of that the process with Chase got escalated and extended. I called Capital One to inquire why Bill Pay still has my old address when I updated everything on my account. The answer was it's a different system, but then how come they don't let their customers know that? The lady on a phone told me she will walk me through how to do it and when we stumbled on smth she just hung up on me. Great Customer Service! I'm a pretty old customer of Capital One, but now I'm seriously thinking about changing a bank. Within the past year I had a several issues and Customer Service was not helpful at all. They transfer you 10 times to different departments and then just hung up on you.
Desired outcome: update my mailing address
New credit card not issued unless I send in lots of info due to a fraudulent charge.
I was notified of a possible fraudulent charge to my credit card a few weeks ago, so I called in to tell Capital One that I did not recognize the charge. They told me that they would send a code to a cell phone to verify that it is me. Well, I do not have a cell phone, and your company assumes that everyone has one. The secondary way was to upload to a site that they gave me the front and back of an ID. I tried that, but that did not work either because each time I tried it, it comes up with an error code. Since you do not send the code via email, the only other way was to send a bunch of personal information using our mail service. I am not going to do that because that is not very secure either. So, here I am with a new credit card that they have, I have the last 4 digits of that card, but they will not send me the card unless I send all of that material to them or get a cell phone which I do not want. Why can't you send the code via email like my bank does? Why is there no other options in my profile other than turning on both phone and text or turning off both phone and text? I have a land line that cannot receive text messages.
Desired outcome: Change Capital One's policy so that I do not have to send in all kinds of documents every time there is a fraudulent claim on my credit card because I do not have a cell phone.
Credit Card Fraudulent Charge
I am writing in regards to a disputed charge of $80.00. The attached receipt was manipulated by changing the 1 to a 9 to reflect a tip of $95.00. I did not leave a $95.00 tip on a $105.29 bill. The total line was also manipulated by making the 1 into a 2 to reflect at total of $220.29.
On the receipt I was given from the merchant you can see that I clearly left a $15.00 tip and wrote in a total of $120.29.
To make matters worst, Capital One informed me of the fraudulent activity and I responded in less than 24 hours. Captial One investigator said I was the one that manipulated the receipt and the merchant's copy was the correct one. I immediately cancelled my card and would never do business with this company again.
Capital One Case Number: [protected]
Desired outcome: Refund of $80.00
Credit card
I paid $110.00 for my credit card. Capital One will not send it to me They want my ID I have faxed and mailed 7 times they say it's blurry no one else thinks so. It was taken at motor vehicles dept. I do not know what else I can do. No credit card co ever gave me so much trouble. Some one must know what is to be done. They want it on the computer. I don't want to be hacked, so I will not put it on the computer. No one ever heard of such a thing. Cred card companies do not do this to people. Since BJ's changed banks all they did was give me a hard time. I pay my bill ahead of time and they lowered my credit score.
Desired outcome: I would like to use my card
This is the worst bank there is
Capital One Review: Terrible Customer Service and Inaccurate Credit Reporting
I gotta say, I had a pretty rough experience with Capital One. I was really excited to apply for their Venture X card, especially since I have excellent credit and have never been denied for a card before. But boy, was I in for a surprise.
I clicked "apply" and was instantly denied through an automatic response system. The next day, I got an email saying that my credit score was too low. But when I looked into it, I found out that they had somehow pulled my credit score 50 points lower than it actually was. I was pretty confused and frustrated, so I decided to call Capital One to see what was going on.
And let me tell you, that call was a disaster. The customer service representative I spoke to was so rude and unhelpful. They berated me, yelled at me, and even gave me sass for asking simple questions. I couldn't believe it. And to make matters worse, the representative re-applied me for the card without my permission, causing me to get another hard inquiry on all three credit bureaus. I was so angry because I had another credit issue to dispute with the bureaus.
After that whole fiasco, I decided to call Equifax and have them send me my credit report. And you know what? My credit score was actually 50 points higher than what Capital One had pulled. I couldn't believe it.
But here's the kicker: I found out that you can't dispute a credit issue with Capital One unless you physically send a letter. And even then, it takes 14 days to get a response. So I sent my first letter and waited patiently for a response. When I finally got one, they asked me for more information. I provided it, thinking progress was being made. But 14 days later, I got another response. And you know what it was? An explanation of what an inquiry is. That's it. After over a month of arguing and communicating with them, all they could give me was the definition of an inquiry.
At that point, I was so fed up with Capital One. I decided to go with Amex instead, and they instantly approved me with no credit limit. So yeah, I think I'm done with Capital One.
And get this: as I was writing this review, I got applied for the Venture X for the third time without my consent. What a lovely company.
Frustrating Experience with Capital One: Late Fee Removal Takes 5+ Hours and 6 Reps to Resolve
So, I had a pretty rough day dealing with Capital One. I had to talk to SIX different reps and supervisors just to get a late fee removed that I shouldn't have even had in the first place. It took me over 5 hours on the phone to finally get everything sorted out. Needless to say, I am not happy with this company right now.
The whole thing started when I got a notification that I had missed a payment. I was pretty confused because I always make my payments on time. I called Capital One to complain and they told me that they would remove the late fee as a one-time courtesy. I was relieved, but I still wanted to know how this happened so I could avoid it in the future.
That's when things started to get really frustrating. I was transferred to a "credit specialist" who was incredibly rude to me. She walked me through my notification settings, which were already set up the way I wanted them to be. Then she told me that there was nothing else she could do for me and transferred me to IT.
The IT guy was a little more helpful. He told me that there was a glitch in the mobile app that caused the missed payment notification to be sent out even though I had made my payment on time. He said that they were aware of the issue and were working on fixing it. He even told me that he was going to write a note in my account to explain that it was a Capital One software glitch and that they were taking full responsibility for it.
But then, after 5.5 hours on the phone, I found out that no one at Capital One could actually do anything about it. They couldn't contact the credit bureau or do anything to fix the glitch. I was pretty frustrated at this point.
The only good thing that came out of all of this was that I found out that my minimum payment had gone up because of interest charges. If I hadn't asked about it, I never would have gotten that refunded. But even that didn't make up for the hours of frustration I went through.
In the end, I decided to keep my account open because I've had it for a long time. But as soon as my refunds come through next week, I'm transferring my balance to a new card. Capital One didn't even offer me anything to try to keep my business. So, goodbye Capital One!
Deplorable Service: My Experience with Capital One's Fraud Unit and Customer Service
My experience with Capital One service on November 19, 2022 was really bad. I was on the phone for like 1 hour and 45 minutes regarding Capital One asking me to submit a response to one of my cases about a refund of a hotel deposit. The second issue was I got a credit card alert from them about 3 weeks ago. I contacted Captial One's fraud unit and they decided to cancel my card and to issue a new card. The fraud unit said they would send my card to my temporary international address via express delivery to one USA destination and then regular mail to Portugal. But the card never came, so I talked to them and they said Capital One never issued a new card. I talked to a lot of Capital One representatives in the Philippines, Jamaica and the USA about the issue. The Philippines representative couldn't write the address to send a replacement card after four attempts. After three transfers to another agent, I was told that before they could send my card they needed to verify me. I gave them my temporary international phone number and was told they couldn't dial an international number plus they need a local number. I then asked about other means of identification. I was told I could use a state issued proof of identification, a valid driver's license or a photo copy of my passport. I said ok use my passport. What a hassle - they said they would send me a link to photo my passport on my phone or computer. I told them my computer didn't have photo capabilities. We finally resolved the issue as Capital One was about to send a verification code to my wife's USA cell number. Capital One sent me a link to upload my letter and other documents to their web site regarding my dispute for them rejecting a fund claim. I've tried the link for the past two days and the response is that the Capital One site is try again later. If you tried to respond to a Capital One email, your response will be returned with a response that you cannot send mail to this address. You cannot find a contact phone number or email link on their web site. What deplorable conditions for Capital One. They are NOT CONSUMER FRIENDLY. I hope they can improve their service.
Capital One Bank: A Dirty and Evil Bank That Turns Against Their Customers
Let me tell you a story about my experience with Capital One bank. I used to bank with them for my direct deposit and other banking needs. However, I had an issue with an order I placed on eBay and never received. I contacted the seller multiple times, but they never responded. So, I decided to file a claim with Capital One to get a refund for the item I never received.
After weeks passed, I still had not received my order, but Capital One issued me a temporary credit in my account for the item I claimed I did not receive. However, the seller told Capital One that they did send the order, but I still claimed I did not receive it. Despite my repeated claims, Capital One took the seller's side and went against me, their own customer.
I pleaded with Capital One that I did not receive my order, but they sounded so evil over the phone and insisted that I did receive it. They even threatened to take the temporary credit out of my account. I felt like they were trying to steal my money, so I quickly found another bank for my direct deposit and left Capital One.
In my opinion, Capital One is a dirty and evil bank that turns against their customers. They did not have my back when I needed them, and I know I am not the only customer who has had a bad experience with them. I would give them 0 stars if I could.
Overall, I would not recommend banking with Capital One. Find a bank that will support you and have your back when you need them.
Capital One Credit Card & Customer Service - A Disappointing Experience
Capital One Credit Card & Customer Service - A Disappointing Experience
I recently received a letter from Capital One stating that 'Most All' benefits will be deleted. This was a huge disappointment as I had been a loyal customer for over two years, always paying my bills on time and in good standing. However, things only got worse from there.
I received another letter from Capital One, this time informing me that my account had been cancelled. They claimed to have sent me a letter by regular mail asking for me to send my ID and Social - copy of my card and driver's license. However, I never received this letter. When I called to find out why my account had been cancelled, I was mistreated and lied to several times.
The first representative I spoke to told me they 'only' wanted a copy of my driver's license, which I promptly faxed in. However, when I spoke to a supervisor, they claimed they did not have a copy of the conversation where the first representative told me to only send my driver's license. This was a blatant lie, as I knew for a fact that the first representative had told me this. The supervisor then told me that it did not matter what the first representative had told me, they wanted more information.
To make matters worse, I discovered that the representatives I was speaking to were not American - they were from the Philippines. I was shocked that Capital One would outsource their customer service to a third-world country. I thought they were bringing finance-sensitive reps back to the USA, but I guess they lied again. How can someone from the Philippines know about American culture when most of their population does not even have one credit card? Yet, they are making rules for American finances on a personal level - they don't even have our banks in the Philippines!
It is not fair business practice to treat customers this way. My account had been open for over two years, in good standing, and mostly paid early without missing a payment. If I had a bad account, that would be different. They report to the credit bureau for two years, and if my social was fake, they would know from the minute of my original application, and my credit history is excellent.
It feels like Capital One is playing childish games to close all accounts from that specific credit card as they introduced a bunch of new cards. They feel they can lie to their customers and care little for us. Feeling empowered from top down - who cares about you - we have whole countries' money - you are too little to do anything. People, please stand up for humanity and fair treatment.
They could have simply changed to a new card instead of good customers questioning what have I done wrong to deserve this bad treatment. All those nice commercials are opposite how they treat and use you. It is a super bad, awful treatment from all customer service reps and their supervisors.
In conclusion, I would not recommend Capital One to anyone. Their customer service is terrible, and they do not care about their customers. It is best to make sure what is 'not' in your wallet and stand up for fair treatment.
Capital One's Flawed Process Leaves Customers Vulnerable to Fraud and Frustration
Capital One has been a complete nightmare for me over the past eight days. I've been a loyal customer for many years and have always paid my balance in full at the end of every month. Unfortunately, I recently met someone who claimed to be a friend and offered to pay my balance for me. I submitted the payment using their banking information, but Capital One immediately restricted my account. I understand that they need to verify the payment with the account holder and their bank, but it's absurd that my account would remain restricted and unusable in the meantime.
To make matters worse, this "friend" turned out to be a scammer and the payment didn't clear. Capital One insists that they still need to get verification from this criminal in order to lift the restriction from my credit card. I've spent multiple hours a day on the phone with them for eight days and have gotten nowhere. It's frustrating that their flawed process doesn't protect their customers who have become victims of fraud.
I have many automatic bill payments set up with this credit card and closing the account would still leave it in restricted status, causing me to lose all my miles. Applying for a new credit card isn't feasible either, as my credit now shows a restricted card. It's unbelievable that my fate lies in the hands of a criminal and Capital One seems to be okay with that.
I'm exhausted and upset with the lack of reason and logic from Capital One. As a loyal customer, I expect better treatment and protection from fraud. This experience has been a complete nightmare and I wouldn't recommend Capital One to anyone.
Nightmare Experience with Capital One Credit Card Services: Terrible Customer Service and Fraud Protection
My experience with Capital One has been nothing short of a nightmare. I strongly advise against applying for their credit card services, as their customer service is absolutely terrible. They do little to nothing to protect their customers from fraud, and their dispute resolution process is a complete joke.
On January 14th, I made a purchase from a United Arab Emirates website called Desert Cart. I bought 4 spy cameras and 5 Samsung SD cards, which cost me a total of $216. While the SD cards worked fine, the spy cameras I purchased didn't have a functioning scan code needed to activate them. This cost me $135.04 for all four cameras that won't work.
I tried to get a refund for the spy cameras, but the website insisted on having someone pick up the items personally. I waited for weeks, but no one came. I finally gave up hope and asked for a transaction dispute on February 25th. I got my money back temporarily, but on March 20th, my refund was reversed, and I now owe $135.04 despite evidence that no one is coming to pick up these items.
I tried to dispute the charge, but my dispute was eventually reversed because Capital One allowed this fraudulent site to dispute back. I spent the next couple of months contacting and pressurizing customer service on Desert Cart, and finally, I reached an agreement with them to ship the items back. However, when they arrived at their destination, they still refused to give me my money back because my credit card number had been changed due to a suspicious charge that forced me to get a new credit number, which may or may not be connected with this site.
Despite giving Capital One all the evidence they should need that I was swindled, they refused to give my money back since far too much time had gone by. To make matters worse, the site kept asking for my bank account information as the only alternative to get my money back. I refused, of course, since that's sensitive information. Yet, despite all of this, Capital One still refused to give me my money back.
I had to cancel my Capital One card as a result of this experience. I strongly recommend that you stick with Discover. Their appeal system works much better, from what I've experienced. In conclusion, I would not recommend Capital One to anyone. Their customer service is terrible, and they do little to nothing to protect their customers from fraud.
Capital One's Mishandling of $90,000 Check: A Nightmare Experience
I called up Capital One on a Friday, September 18th, 2020 to get my CD redeemed. My branch was closed due to Covid and the next closest branch was 1 hour and 15 minutes away. I asked them if they could send it electronically to my bank, but they said no. They had to mail me the check. The check was for about $90,000, so I asked if they could send it certified. They said they would. It has been almost 5 weeks now, and there is no sign of the check. I have called them 6 times, and every time I've had to wait for a long time, around 45 minutes to an hour, with a horrendous music loop that is like water torture. I don't say this to be dramatic, but it is really bad. Each time I call, I have to explain the whole scenario, and they invariably send me to a supervisor only for me to explain the whole thing again. On one occasion, I spoke to a supervisor named Randy, and on another occasion, I spoke to a supervisor named Crae. Today, I talked on the phone with an associate, and she elevated it to Brian, then he elevated it to Mary, and then she elevated it to Kevin. Each time in between, I had to explain it again and then hold with the horrid music.
They said they had stopped payment on the check, and they would mail (they said they can't email it) out a lost check claim form for me to fill out and then review it. I've been waiting on this form for over two weeks, and there is no sign of that either. Why am I having to wait for a form that I am required to fill out and have notarized and then send back for them to review and then start a long process of waiting all over when I wasn't the one who lost the check? They sent it out without any kind of tracking or signature required by the recipient. They're sending out massively large checks by first-class mail with no idea if the checks will ever get there or any way to trace it. The supervisor Crae admitted that they are supposed to FedEx all checks over $50,000. I keep waiting and hoping someone will acknowledge how outlandish this is and cut the red tape and get me my money. By holding on to my money, they are defrauding me out of $4 interest a day, which is what my CD was making. Thus far, I have lost well over $100 in interest waiting plus an opportunity to deposit the money in Chase and get a $300 bonus on an offer that has ended. I am at my wits' end. I desperately need this money, MY MONEY, to live on. I am a senior, and it is most of my life savings. PLEASE, PLEASE HELP ME RESOLVE THIS HEARTWRENCHING PAINFUL SITUATION.
Capital One's Incompetent Customer Service and Chaotic System
Capital One's customer service promised me that an electronic transfer using their website would only take one day. However, days later, I received a posted email stating that the transfer was credited, but it did not apply to my account balance. The payment was not subtracted from my account balance, which kept my credit line frozen even though the electronic transfer paid off the entire balance. I did not receive any notification from Capital One that I did not receive credit to my card, and my credit line was still frozen because it was over the limit.
When I called Capital One to clarify, they said that it would take a week for the transfer to go through. I was confused because the first representative said it would only take a day. I checked their website, and it said that on the last day of that week, returned checks and incorrect account numbers would be the reason for the delay. However, I checked my account number and routing number on TD Bank and my checkbook, and they were all 100% correct.
I called my bank, which had the funds that were going to be transferred into my checking account, and they said that no attempt was ever made to transfer money out to Capital One. Capital One then told me that I should investigate and get a letter from my bank stating that there was no transfer. I was frustrated that I had to do all the work, and I told them to cancel the whole electronic transfer.
I asked Capital One if I deposited the money directly into their bank, how long it would take to clear. The account supervisor said it would only take one day. However, when I deposited it at their bank teller, they gave me a receipt that said it would take 1-2 days. This screwed up my plans to use the card the next day for something urgent.
In my opinion, Capital One is an incompetent bank with a chaotic system of people who have no clue about banking. Their customer service is extremely poor, and I would advise anyone to stay away from them. They gave me an initial $1,000 credit card, but after a year of using it and paying perfectly, I applied for an increase, and they said no. They said I did not use the card enough, but the reason I did not use the card enough was that it did not have the credit line I needed to charge what I wanted.
My advice is to find a normal major bank to deal with that you can trust to handle your banking and credit needs. Do not bank with Capital One, no matter what the rates are.
Disappointing Experience with Capital One's Quicksilver Credit Card Application Process
I gotta say, I was pretty let down by Capital One. They sent me an invite saying I was pre-qualified for their quick silver credit card, but I had to wait until my credit score was good enough to apply. Finally, my score was near 800, so I went ahead and applied. But then they rejected me! I called customer service and they said they'd send me a letter explaining why, but I never got it. So I called again and they said they emailed it to me. Turns out, they rejected me because I had too many active credit cards. I had six at the time, but I'd had them for six years!
When I talked to the credit card application agent, she was so rude! She wouldn't let me finish my sentences and she didn't seem to know anything about banking. I asked her why I was pre-qualified and she said it was based on my annual income. But when I asked about their policy on credit card numbers, she said she didn't know and I should call the credit bureaus. I had to explain to her that it was their bank's policy, not the credit bureaus'. Finally, she told me they only allow their customers to have 3-5 credit cards.
The thing is, Capital One credit cards require a really good credit score, so they're not usually the first choice for people just starting out with credit cards (like students). But if you've had credit cards for a few years, you're likely to have 3-5 of them, which means you can't apply for Capital One's cards anymore.
I talked to the agent's manager and asked why my credit score was reported as 730 when the credit bureaus they mentioned in the rejection letter said it should be near 800. She didn't know. I asked her about the pre-qualification criteria and she didn't know that either. I asked if annual income was a factor and she said the agent shouldn't have said that. I asked about the number of credit cards they allow and she said they don't allow more than five.
Honestly, I think Capital One needs to train their employees better, especially the rude ones. They also need to make sure their agents have accurate information. And it would be great if they could use some data scientists to come up with a better algorithm for pre-qualification instead of just randomly sending out invitations and putting hard inquiries on people's credit histories.
Capitol One
Capitol One suspended my credit card accounts stating I needed to show 90 days of bank statements verifying I made payments from my credit union. These same transactions of payments they were asking proof of were posted on my Capitol One statements and my Credit Union Statements. I have not had anything change same acct. same address so why is Capitol One asking for proof of what they posted in my acct. statements it was just harassment to me? I told them I will not send my bank statements to them in fact I had no choice but to cancel my cards! Thats fine with me I will not be harassed it was clearly a motion to drive me away as a customer! It worked!
Desired outcome: God will provide!
Credit card
I made a purchase the other day and you sent me a text asking if I had made purchase. I said yes and it said to try again I did and card still didnt go thru so I ebnded up buying from another company+-. Now I believe I was scammed. The first transaction was for a walmart off store. The one that went thru was hellowan I checked it out before I purchased and thought I was safe because they had a website and a phone number. When I didnt get a receipt I tried calling and the phone number is not valid and the website is for hats. I contacted link and stripe and they sent me same phone number, I need to know what I can do. I received a tracking number today for sometthing but tracking number isnt valid

Titles Dept.
I got my truck refinanced in 2020 by Capital One. Due to a wrong name on application the title was rejected by State of Alabama in 2021. The application # is ADL106558706 submitted by Gleyns Armburst. Now in 2023 we are tryimg to refinance my truck and surprise to us we learn that Capital One does not have our title. We fill out the limited power of attorney and send in the proper paperwork. Now Capital One has the title for my truck. The problem is the rejected application is still in the State of Alabama system and is blocking my refinancing. I have tried for a month now to simply get Capital One to go onto the state site and delete the rejected application. I keep getting excuses and they will look into it and they will call me back and still nothing has gotten done.
Desired outcome: To go to the State of Alabama DMV site and delete open application #ADL106558706 submitted by Gleyns Armburst in 20021
Just hung up the phone from a resolution specialists. I requested an supervisor call back and was informed it would take up to 2 business days to get a call back because she was in a meeting! REALLY?
Credit card
Out of the Blue, my access to the App was blocked. The customer service department could not resolve the issue. I could not cancel the credit card... they asked me to wait 72 hours, that was last Thursday June 8th, 2023. I cannot pay the credit card or use it. They just pass you from representative to representative and sometimes the call hangs up. They even passed me to a supervisor, Kandace, and she just forwarded me to a Technical Advisor David Employee Id AWF875, that could not even give me a complaint phone number to call. They gave me the run-around. I was on hold for over 25 minutes for them to give me phone number. Then they hung up.
Desired outcome: Cancel the account and get the final bill. I do not want anything to do with Capital One ever!
Payment on my account

I have sent for the last 2 mos the letter from my bank with all the info requested and keep getting the run around. I am just trying to pay my bill with the same account I have used for years.

Desired outcome: Fix the issue
