Credit Inform placed charge against my Capital One credit card. Credit inform claims they received telephone authorization in July '08. I asked them to prove they had authorization through recorded conversation, ...ect at which time they terminated the call.

I never autorized Credit Inform to charge my Capital One card for their service or have I ever spoken to them on the phone.

Same exact thing happened to me. They claim I gave them telephone authorization on July 16, 2008. Hung up on me when I ask for proof. I caught this charge while I was cancelling some credit cards I no longer used. I suspect most people would never notice the $8.39 charge. Needless to say I will never use Capital One again. A few days ago I received a statement on the closed account that included the Inform Credit charge plus late fees and interest totaling $23.89. My credit record is spotless but I will never pay them for this scam.

The same thing happened to me, except I received a letter from Credit Inform congratulating me for purchasing the service. I emailed and called Capital One and Credit Inform and obtained the names of the individuals I spoke to and for confirmation numbers for the calls. I asked them to document in their systems that I never authorized the enrollment. They claimed I called Capital One and that they have a recorded conversation that I agreed to the enrollment, which is false since I do all my transactions on the internet and have had no reason to call Capital One except for this problem. Let's hope that I have resolved this problem and no charges will appear on my bill. I have documented everything so that just in case the charges appear, I can present documentation that I protested the enrollment once I was made aware of it. I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and federal Office of the Comptroller which has legal jurisdiction over Capital One.

Exact same thing happened to me, as soon as I renewed my credit cards despite saying no to any 'services' I was charged with for a service. after canceling the first fraudulent charge and 2 months after- I received a bill from this Creditinform for 8.99. I called them to see what the service was and asked the caller how I got signed up for it and if it was mandatory. She said it was and that I would be billed for 8.99 every month and that i signed up for the program when i renewed my credit card. Not only did I not sign up for it but was billed 2 months after I supposedly signed up so that doesn't make sense.

when I called capitol one to despute the charge they told me I had to speak with Creditinform. I told the woman I already had not but an hour earlier and told her what the operator had said about it being mandatory and she told me it wasn't. So I was once again forwarded to creditinform and spoke with a woman telling her the same thing. I told her i wanted to cancel this service because I never signed up for it in the first place and wanted all charges removed from my credit card. she said i would be given 8.99 credit on my card but in 1-2 months. then she had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to sign up for any of their other programs, and I nearly ate my phone. I'm extremely upset with capital one and if anything like this happens again I'm canceling my card. I'm looking into filing a complaint for the company.

Credit Inform is a monitoring service provided by CAP1. You were probably enrolled upon activation of your CAP1 card. The toll-free that you called was for CI, not CAP1 - 2 different companies. Just some advise, the next time you activate your card - make sure that you listen carefully to the rep you're talking to, so you won't wonder why you're enrolled with a service that you didn't authorize (most probably, you just didn't undersatnd the rep that you talked to) and make sure to ALWAYS review your billing statements (be vigilant). And also, for complaints - direct it to the company who enrolled you (CAP1) and not CI (they're just the service provider).

This has happened to me on a CANCELED Capitol One card. Now, five years of this repeated activity... going on six, I have had enough. A $100 unauthorized charge billed to my CANCELED account, and I didn't even know it! Next thing I know, I received a statement in the mail from Capitol One with $100 plus two months ($48) late fee. They scammed me like this for 4 years, and now I have had enough! I paid the $100 and have located the Internet Company that was using this number, and gave them another card to use for my internet billing. So ... I know no charges had been made on this card for over a year! Feeling happy that I had gotten rid of Capitol One, I went on about my business. BUT ... wait! One year later, here comes a Capitol One statement for accumulated late fees & service charges. How could this be on a CANCELED card? I have asked them to send me an itemized statement of purchases made on this card, but after 3 months ... no itemized statement. Why? Because there are no legitimate charges, only their growing late fees. Watch out for Capitol One. Capitol One is a professional scam artist! Turn it over to your lawyer or a lawyer that deals with Credit Card scams. You are powerless without professional help.

I did sigm up for Credit Inform, but have been trying for months to cancel it. This has to be done by phone rather that email even through the site, but every time I call, as soon as I hit option #2 to cancel service, I get disconnected right away. Guess I'll be sending them some certified mail.
I noticed on the Credit Inform site they have the BBB Online Reliability Program emblem at the bottom of the page, and if you hover over it, it says "Better Business Bureau Certified". I thought that was odd, given all the complaints I've heard. Well, click on the emblem, and it takes you directly to the BBB seal verification site giving you the message (in huge letters) "This business is not a BBB online participant at this time". I've emailed the BBB regarding the use of the BBB online seal. Just another example of how misleading and downright dishonest CreditInform is.

I never authorized Credit Inform. I found out that I has enrolled when I noticed that something is getting charged my EXPIRED Capital One credit card. I called both Capital One and Credit Inform, but they could not provide my with any proof of authorization. When I called Credit Inform to request the proof, the call got disconnected. And when I called again to request any proof for authorization, call got discontinued again. For the third time, I tried again and found out there is nothing that proves that I authorized the service. I am very very mad. Also this company claims that it is BBB participant, but when I clicked the banner, it said this company is not a participant.

creditinform is a joke, it's not there for you it's there for the mony and only for the mony. The information they give you on your credit report and the credit score is not even close.
They showed me with a 618 score when i infact had a 646, but HEY the great aderlizer said if i pay all my bills on time in three month's my score will go up to a 622. { what a joke } but hey this came with my card free of charge. sounds like i need to cancel this bullcrap informer before the charges start coming in.

! DONT USE CREDITINFORMER!

Credit inform is not a company but a scamming cult! They took advantage of my father's Capital One credit card. Of course, my father did not even aware that his bill was being charged $8.99 every month since May of last year! I contacted Capital One and they keep saying credit inform is their affiliate company and Capital One has nothing to do with them. Credit inform hung up on me several times and after my fifth calls, they offered only 4 months worth of credit back to my father's account. I refused and asked every penny of money that they took advantage of. I even wrote a letter to Capital One Investigative Solutions Dispute Correspondents but in vain. After the letter, they are now offering $50 back but I am not giving in since they took $108 from my father's account. I am still fighting against their fraudulent business practice.

This is an update from yesterday's note. After numerous phone calls, writing an official letter and relentless pursuit for justice, I finally won! Initially Capital One representatives stated they have nothing to do with Credit Inform. However, after numerous calls to Capital One, I was able to persuade one of Capital One associates to make a three way call to Credit Inform so Capital One and I both can request for a full refund. Initially, Credit Inform hung up on us three times. Even the Capital One customer representative who made the three way call said Credit Inform is wierd and unprofessional. After fourth calls, we were finally able to speak to one of the Credit Inform managers. The Credit Inform manager was asking all the detailed questions to the Capital One associate about his name, employee ID, and physical location of the capital one service center etc... and even asking him "Is capital one okay with refunding the full amount to this customer? Are you sure?" before refunding the full amount. I noticed that Credit Inform was trying everything that they could to avoid giving my father a full refund but they ended up giving us a refund. It was exactly $107.88! Justice prevailed but with great effort and energy!

I just cancelled my service yesterday - so we will see what happens. I got a cancellation code from the rep so I don't know what that means. I did note that their scores are wildly inaccurate - like 100 points lower than my actual score... I only found out because I started using a new service and discovered my credit is SO much better than I thought lol!

I have tried to get in touch with Capitol One and have not been able to reach them to discuss two items on my credit card. I have tried all the banks that are listed to help Capital One credit card carriers and they have all been closed. I find that alittle interesting. I have two items on my account this month that I haven't gotten, , one is for something called safecart.com and the other is one for $79 that I haven't charged. I want to find out more but am unable to locate a bank etc. that helps with that. If anyone knows a bank that does I would like to know. ms.maggie@cfu.net
