Warning: Terrible Experience with Carjet - Avoid at all Costs!
I just had the worst experience with Carjet. You have been warned! I had booked a car to pick up myself from Stansted airport. I had all the necessary documents that they listed on their website, such as my passport, driving license, and my NHS Covid ID to prove my address, but still, they would not let me take the car without a utility bill.
I got a bit frustrated and offered them a scanned utility bill from my home, but they would not accept it and said that it had to be the original one. No matter what I tried, they just would not let me take the car. I was so angry that I left without the car and spent ?200 on a taxi to my home in Brighton.
The representative at Carjet had no sense of customer service at all and did not even apologize for their mistake. If my wife had not been with me, I probably would have had a fight with him.
I am going to report these scammers to Trading Standards, and I hope that all of you will do the same. They need to be shut down so that they cannot scam other customers.
It is so frustrating that you cannot even get in touch with them as their contact number is not working, and their email is impossible to find. It really makes you wonder whether this is even a legitimate company. Stay away from Carjet!
Beware of Carjet: Shuttle inaccuracy, poor customer service, and difficulty in early returns result in a 1-star review
I did rate Carjet with 5 stars a month ago since their booking process was very easy but now I have picked up and returned my car and I can give a complete review about my experience with them. Unfortunately, I can only give them 1 star and I would not recommend them to anyone after having these following issues:
First of all, the shuttle information they provide is incorrect and that resulted in us being delayed for an hour and a half. We had to catch a cab instead, which was quite inconvenient.
Secondly, we had to change our holiday plans in the UK and ended up leaving for France earlier than expected. We encountered the following problems:
A) Their website doesn't allow you to schedule an early return.
B) I tried calling their customer service number several times to no avail. I couldn't even leave a message because phone calls simply don't go through.
C) The Heathrow dealership didn't even answer their phone number.
D) I emailed customer services but only got an automated reply saying it would be referred to their manager.
E) I had no choice but to drive the car to the Easirent dealership, but to my surprise it was already closed at 10:30 pm. Their website said it's open until 00:30 am.
F) There was no drop box available.
G) The Moxi hotel wouldn't accept the key, and they said it was a common occurrence. People tend to leave their cars in the car park when they encounter this problem.
H) I thought of another option, so I put my keys in an envelope and placed it on the dashboard for Easirent the following morning.
I) I emailed customer services to let them know what I did and where they could find the car.
J) I received another automated reply from them.
K) Since I didn't receive a closing invoice, I became concerned that the car might have been stolen. I emailed customer services yet again, but still no reply.
L) A week later, I decided to call Easirent because I was deeply concerned. Thankfully, the car was still there and my account was closed.
Although Carjet advertises that you can return the car at any time, the reality proved to be difficult, even in the most extraneous of circumstances. They won't refund you and the price is not everything, especially if it entails inconvenience and frustration. Therefore, I don't recommend them at all based on my experience.
Carjet's Poor Customer Service and Closed Rental Office Caused Major Hassle and Expenses
Carjet is a cool site where you can check out lots of different cars to rent. I used it to book a car in August. But when I went to the third party car rental office to pick it up, it was closed! I couldn't believe it. The office had been closed for five whole months because of Covid, but Carjet never told me! The rental company even emailed them the day after I booked to say they couldn't honor the booking, but Carjet never let me know.
I was so angry, and all of a sudden, I had to take a taxi, a three-hour train journey, and book another car at the last minute, which cost me around ?600. At the time, it was a Bank Holiday weekend too. It was so much hassle, and I'm still pretty unhappy about the whole thing.
Carjet did say sorry, but it was so late. They told me in November that they would offer me a compensation package, but it never came. Now they don't even want to pay for my expenses they caused! They're not even replying to me now! I can't deal with this, and it's so frustrating.
I don't know how they handle other problems, but this experience has made me lose confidence in their responsibility and customer service. This might not happen to everyone, but it's still really bad!
If you want to save yourself a headache, use another company. There are so many to choose from. And if you don't believe me, read some other reviews on Reviews.io.
I've tried emailing them three times this month, even the CEO and other senior people, but they never replied! They have my phone number and email address so they can easily get in touch. Honestly, it's so annoying! Avoid Carjet if you don't want to end up like me.
