Carrington College Unfair termination and non payment of work render

I was terminated on July 27th 2010 by speaker phone from Adama Wilson human resource representative.

When i was terminated from my position as a Master Admission Representative of thirteen years with the company I received an Ipay card which is a form of payment verses a hardcopy of a check from the Executive Director Mr. Wells who then made a copy of the Ipay card and exscorted me out of my office...when i arrived home I called to confirm my balance and I was informed that i had a zero balance no funds available. I previously worked 84 hrs documented with 186 hrs of vacation time. Western Career College merged with Devry Inc. they informed Western employees that they wtihheld two weeks of pay we had a choice use our vacation time or lose two weeks pay, no choice i elected to take the two weeks with no pay. I sent an email to our corporate office human resource representative Ms. Mitra Mash regarding my funds not being available to me...she informed me that they don't have to pay me when i am terminated immediately and that they will provide me back pay for the days i did not receive my pay...I was terminated on Monday 7/27/10 at 5pm today is 7/28/10 i have not received my pay and unemployment benefit package...Informed Ms. Mash that in order for me to apply for Unemployment i need to know the process. i have worked for Western College now renamed Carrington College of California for thirteen years. Mitra informed me by phone and email that they would send my benefit package through FED X by 3pm on 7/27/10. I called Mitra at 4:28pm on 7/27/10 informing her that i have not yet receive my package she stated that the company can take up to 30 days to provide me with a benefit package. I then informed her that it has been 72 hours with no pay...

I beleive that i was terminated after thirteen years of service because I was a whistleblower so they harrassed me whereas i was stress diagnosed with hypertension and taken off work by my physician Dr. Robin Price upon returning i suffered discrimination and retaliation. I spoke up on management the Human Resource Director Mrs. Stacey Hisey from our Corporate office. My job consist of number there reasoning of terminating my of position.

We have representative that has missed several budgets and was recently awarded with a possible promotion who threaten to kick me down a flight of stairs, pull out my braids in my head and pour water on me. When repoorted to the company they brushed it under the rug...I had a review on 4/22/10 and was informed that i was on target it my numbers. then written up after receiving awards from the company. They say my numbers which cause me to lose my position, Admission went to Tuscon Az. on 6/30 to 7/2/10 and won several awards which i was a part of winning for Team Excellent and the Bulldog award. But now i am unemployed...I was in an open period of a workmans compensation claim for stress and they fired me. My Physician provided the company with time off due to hypertension from work related stress. Dr. Price informed me to take sometime off due to monitor my hypertension...when returning to work i submitted all documentation to my employer and was told that i must see a company physician which i chose Northbay Occupational Health in Fairfield Ca. it is closer to my home, which is on there list of physcian to see...Travelers representative Mr. Grant Gibbons stated that they sent my documentation to the wrong address and I had 60 days to complete and return. Mr. Gibbons stated that may deny my claim because he sent my information to the wrong address i sent Mr. Gibbons an email confirming our conversation by phone July 2010. He replied to my email stating that my claim is still opened due to there error...Now that i have been terminated i can no longer see a physician for treatment to monitor my hypertension.

Carrington College Not helping find a job, and refusing to provide the cerificate of completion

My good friend informed me that after she went to Carrington College obtained a 4.0 grade average, and being on the hook for $18, 000.00 for Medical Coding, that the school has refused to issue her the certificate of completion and is refusing to further assist her with job placement.

What kind of nonsense is that. How the heck is she going to be able to pay off her loan without a certificate and a job? After hearing that from her, I am no less than outraged about it.

Carrington College School

So I had posted a previous complaint on here earlier which we then had a meeting and they had decided to allow to audit a few more courses however when I came back after posting that complaint I just had more and more problems the teachers were not very helpful at all some of them even harassed me on many occasions. Some of the teachers and staff there are very unprofessional. One of the teachers would corner me when no one was around and say very horrible things to me. There were even a few occasions where she went as far as to make me cry. I told the director about these harassment issues and I was just told not to talk to that teacher any more and to ignore it.I would ask on a daily basis how I was doing and they would tell me that I was doing fine and then there was a graduation checklist in which I was supposed to complete but they would only allow me to work on certain things. I still continued to keep my 4.0 however two weeks before I was suppopsed to graduate I had a meeting with the director and I was told that I would not be graduating but that I could finish out my last two weeks of audit if I chose and that I could take my final exams. When I asked the director why they didn't drop me from the program sooner if I wasn't graduating and why I got a 4.0 all the way through as well as honors in the administrative part of the program if I wasn't graduating ?and she told me well none of that matters now let's not focus on that lets focus on whats happening now and there's obviously a glitch in the grading system and it's really a matter of the teachers being to soft hearted then to give you that grades that you deserve. Well isn't it the teachers job to give me the grades that I deserve and if I'm not doing something correctly then to fail me and not send me all the way through the program? So I stayed and completed the program I took all of my finals and I passed my Medical Assisting Program Final with an 85 % and I passed my Pharmacology Final with a 72% however I was not allowed to graduate and I was allowed to stay for the entire program which I believe should have been there job to drop me if I wasn't doing things correctly and to grade me accordingly which did not happen. So in my last meeting with my program director she told me that she would write me a letter of recomendation and have it ready for me on the last day for all of my hard work so that I wouldn't go off into the sunset with nothing. However on the last day when I went to the front desk to ask for that letter they had no idea what I was talking about. I called and called and called and tried to get a hold of the director to ask about that as well as a few other questions I had about my situation and me being dropped from the program. I left messages after messages with no return calls. I feel that because I still have loans out with that school I should still be a priority. They don't care about the student's they only care about the money. I have no desire to ever go back to that school however I don't feel that they should be able to get away with what they have done to me. Now I'm in debt for all these loans and I don't feel that what happened to me is right and that I should have to pay back everything after what happened. I feel that it was all a scam and a year of my life and hard work and money is just wasteed and down the drain. How can they get away with doing this to people.

Which by the way I think that I deserve alot more than just a letter of reccomendation after all of my hard work but I feel that as long as students still have loans out at that school they should be a priority whether still enrolled graduated dropped or whatever may be the case and deserve a call back and questions answered. I strongly believe that this was all a scam.

same thing happen to me, I end up in debt for $16K for nothing, , I even made an appeal, because I already finish the first term of the program, I had a disagreement and issues with one of the teacher that puts me down and made my way so difficult. the program director sided with that teacher, and I end up as a looser after the board's decision to drop me because they thought I am not capable of pursuing the program and will not do good on the board exam. with one class missed by .01 pt. if I could find a good lawyer that will allow me to pay after the pursuit,
I will go after them, but thinking that I will pay more if I will pursue the complaint, I might end up to more debt and will have more financial burden at the end.

hey smg2010. Why have you not sued them? If you said that you left messages that is some kind of proof. Do you have any recordings of them, emails, letters, phone statements? Hearing about your situation makes me have second thoughts about taking online courses. It is burst my bubble when I was reading your complaint. They should not get away with this! Don't feel discouraged. It was a bad experience you had. But, you learn from your mistakes. I hope that your luck has gotten better.

Carrington College Fraud

WOW! This "school" is simply a scam. They will stop at nothing to rob students and tax payers of every dime they can. They don't care if they put your family in debt to do it - and don't think for a second you'll be an exception. It is completely designed for you to fail repeatedly and owe them ridiculous amounts that they will get and for which you will be indebted for life without the ability to default or file bankruptcy. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU ATTEND THIS SCHOOL NO MATTER WHAT YOU ARE TOLD OR BELIEVE.

Carrington College Intimidation-In most programs-

It is going to be the next quarter and people want to get ahead in school or life and I had an interview with the Wester Career College people and yeah they are not professional I did meet with "Tony" Legler man was I glad that I did ask things about him before I knew the guy in person what a Jerk.
He is new to teaching and so is "KS" Hot lips her office is shared with the Criminal Justice Instructor-Of course they are racist, Ignorant and proud of it.
They come from other states out of California so they are here with resentment towards people in general.
I Did check out the old guy Oscar King his class is a joke.
KS and Tony wanted to come here and leave a mark, well she did as the WORST intructors ever and other Colleges KNOW about them.

So Boys and Girls don't waste your time and money.

Thanks for responding to my comment. Yea Tony Legler is ###ing jerk off. It is a good thing you didn't enroll in that ###ing program. Did he put off the attitude that he was better than everyone? Well he thinks he is better than everyone but in reality, he nothing but a piece of ###. I had him as an instructor and believe he is as bad as they come. KS she is a ### and if she doesn't like you she will do anything in her power to make you fail or kick you out of the program. Yea, Oscar King I know he is a joke. His class was so boring and so ill informed, that I had to do most of my anatomy learning at home or from my parents which are a nurse and a doctor. Thank god I took course on that at De Anza College. They make the Surgical Tech program there like its the best in California and if you get in its like its a honor, but thats far from the truth. Skyline College in San Bruno has a better Surgical Tech program and it only cost $1500.00 for the whole thing, not $34, 000. People that kiss "KS" ### are such silly ### it would make me sick just being around them. "KS" boyfriend committed acts of sexual harassment and she did nothing about it. The girls who were victims of it, came and told here and she said to them if they complained she would kick them out of the program. Yea they wanted to leave a mark, a skid mark like on someone dirty underwear. When I got kicked out I actually told them thank you and to kiss my ###. What did the other colleges have to say about them? I really want to know. Email me at angelkid9900@sbcglobal.net and tell me, because it would kind of help my court case. All the instructors are friends that knew each other before they started teaching there and most were in the military, so you know what that means. So yea man, you made the right choice by not going there. I wish I did the same. Now I'm stuck paying back $30, 000 on a education I didn't even get.

Carrington College Discrimination

I WAS going to enroll to this college, but it is very expensive and they treat students very bad, they hook you then make you suffer, all in your dollar.
There are other colleges that are cerfificated and want to help you get ahead, this school makes pray of unsuspected
students, and just STEAL YOUR TIME & MONEY who needs that, Specially now in this dificult times.
So before you enroll make sure that there are other options out there.

I am Glad that I did and will not go there don't let the TV commercials fool you.

End of story.

I graduated from Western Career College back in 1994 in Medical Assistant. Back then, the school was much better and I did quite well for myself. However, the school only cost $5, 500 back then. What I do not understand is: why would someone pay $26, 000 to enroll in an ultrasound technology program that IS NOT ACCREDITED! I mean, does anybody ever do any research on these programs before signing a contract for $26, 000? You guys have the Internet, for God sake. So, it is not like you have to leave your house to research the school.

Before I enrolled in Western Career College, this is what I did. I CALLED HOSPITALS AND ASKED THEM, "I am considering enrolling into Western Career College, Would you hire a graduate from this school? Have you hired graduates from this school and were you happy with the results? Would I need any form of certification to be hired in your center. Thank you very much for the help." IT IS THAT SIMPLE PEOPLE.

I have been scammed before (credit offer with a $250 dollar up-front payment. I lost the $250) and I think it sucks for hard working people to be scammed out of their money, especially in a recession. But come on, you really have no one to blame but yourselves. To spend $16, 000-$26, 000 on the promise of a salesman and a brochure, without verifying any of it by calling hospitals or researching it on the Internet was just lazy on your part. I hope it is a lesson learned.

I did enroll and I am very sorry I did. Your assesment of the school is correct. This is my story:

I attended the Dental Assiting Program from Sept 2008 to May 2009. I am not at all happy with this college and its program ethics.

The recruiters are, of course, very helpful and nice. However, once you are committed and start the program, all communication is shut down. From the receptionist at the front desk, to the career services dept, all are usually not available when you need them.

A word of caution. As a dental assistant student, you need to recruit your own patients to practice your techniques. In other words you need 4 different people willing to come in for x-rays that meet a certain criteria, and 3 more to come in for a coronal polish. They DO NOT tell you this at the beginnning and IT IS REQUIRED to graduate.

Another problem they do not reveal at the beginning is that you MUST complete a career booklet in order to graduate that IS NOT related to your field of study. It is purely a "how to know yourself to get a job" type of assignment. It is a completely ridiculous, but very time consuming booklet that IS REQUIRED. They do not tell you how to do the booklet and it is extremely difficult to figure out how to turn it in as there are many contradictory errors in assignments. The booklet is very badly put together. The career services instructer, Yvette, that gives you the booklet, just rants and raves about how good she is at her job during the seminar and does not instruct you on how to finish the booklet. She is only interested in promoting herself.

Also the instructor that I experienced in my program for dental assisting didn't have enough workable knowledge of how to teach the program properly. She didn't even know how to pronounce the word epiglotis properly! And we have spelling and terminology tests 3 times per week! Also she was very inconsistent with her assignment instructions and changed her mind frequently on matters pertaining to turning in assignments and when tests were scheduled. In other words, you never knew what to expect.

I really felt that my $16, 000 could have been put to better use at another college. If I knew then what I know now about this college, I would have NEVER applied.

My advice to anyone considering Western Career College in Pleasant Hill is to NOT APPLY! It is an extreme waste of your, or your parents hard earned money.

Carrington College Scam

Western Career College will take your money and give you discrimination. I am a 4.0 student at this school, have already completed the program and paid $33, 000. The director of the surgical technology program, Karen Shirley has dropped me from the program after graduating with honors. Karen Shirley bases students grades on how she feels about them rather than their hard work. Karen has become too power stricken in her position as director of surgical technology. She is sending people out into surgery based on the favors they do for her so in turn, these people are dangerous to the patient because they don't know what they are doing. Due to a failing grade on a test, Karen is dropping me from the program. While another student of Caucasian decent made deadly mistakes and passed the same test. I don't feel I should have to pay for this discriminatory school where my credits won’t transfer.

I went back in 2010 for healthcare information tech program. They never told me they were taking six loans out in my name. I never found a job after completing the program. No business would hire me because they don’t recognize that school and said there is no way you can learn everything in nine months. Here it is 2023 and I still have 13 thousand left to pay. They get away with taking ppls money and promising things that isn’t true or hiding about how many loans they will be taking out. If I had known this years ago I would never gone to them

Years ago I attended Western Career college and paid about 13 thousand dollars. Not only did they fail at job placement, they hindered my ability to get a job when the medical assistant teacher actually gave me a bad reference. I never got the job. I agree still no job after graduation they say going to their school is experience, apparently in the real world it is not experience and you need it to get a job. The school promises to assist you in job referrals, they did not. I also never received any certificate after a 18 month course in medical billing AS degree program. All I have are my grades. I was told the credits can be transferred to a college, that was untrue. I graduated with a 4.0 and still can't get a job doing medical billing. I am thinking of seeing for false representation.

I graduated two years ago from the Surgical Tech program. I had to interview for one of my internships and I was luckily chosen out of a few classmates. Ultimately, I was called a few days before my internship was suppose to start and was told that the hospital I was suppose to intern for decided against me and chose three other Surgical Tech students from Hi-Tech (Anthem College) because they didn't want to take any precautions with taking a student from Western Career College. So despite me being a good student, other intern sites still have a negative view on Western Career College and their students. It's been two years since graduating and still have no chance on getting a job. I've tried doing entry level jobs at hospitals just so I can work my way up in hopes I could transfer into a Surgical Tech position and can't because there will always be someone who has actual working experience than I do. Two months worth of being an intern nothing to employers. They don't even call you because they don't want to waste their time training a new tech. It's really sad and very stressful having to pay back student loans for graduating from that program when you don't even have a job period! All I have to say to new students is really think about what you're doing. I'm having to go to community college in a different field in hopes that I won't have the same thing happen to me again. I wish the best of luck to all of you and please think your school/career decisions through.

I do not recommend WCC. I attended dental assisting program there and it was a complete disaster. WCC kept firing and hiring teachers all the time, we had about 5 different "teachers" unfortunately most of them knew absolutely nothing about dental assisting. I've seen cases of discrimination as well. Also, WCC even failed to provide dental insurance and dental software instruction as promised so we ended up not having the adequate skills set to get a simple entry level job. If you want to get a decent training and a job, community colleges are the best option.

My wife went there for 7 months and because of that [censor] what they call miss Shirley came home crying everyday for the last 3 weeks It is like everyone says IT IS A SCAM don't throw away your money, MY wife Cindy over heard Karen Shirley say to one of the teachers "we have to flunk somebody" that is their way of getting more money.
I have a real hot shot lawyer and if anyone wants to be part of a class action law suite send me an e-mail to
