Unethical practice and professional conduct
I sat in on the evaluation with my brother to ensure that the therapist did a competent job. We didn't let the therapist know that I was a practicing therapist for 17 years with a PhD in mental health counseling 1) the therapist didn't introduce/provide credentials 2) didn't go over the limits of confidentiality, 3)stereotypes were used as part of the...

Lawyers helping Lawyers. In the community, vulnerable citizens who were arrested for DUI are recommended to enroll in a for profit substance abuse course. This course does not state the length of the class but just the requirements. 30.00 per class and frequency is dependent upon an evaluation by sometimes the owner. He can choose 2, 3 or 4 classes a week. (depending on how much money he wants to take from you weekly).
They tell you that it will help you get a favorable outcome in the courts. Don't do it! Enroll in a legitimate State recommended substance abuse program. Once your court date comes, your lawyer will tell the judge that you will continue the Casselton program and then now you are COURT ORDERED to stay in the program. And now you are locked in for a YEAR! You may never even have a chronic problem. Even if you do, you will learn nothing in this program and pay your 30.00 every time you go. The owner made over a million dollars last year (found on the Internet) and he runs these classes in a dumpy smelly building with unlicensed counselors with no real credentials. Do not enroll! Ask your lawyer for a real substance abuse program. It's a scam that locks victims in for a year and no real "therapy or learnings" . The judges think his is a legitimate program but instead, it is a scam to suck money from vulnerable people. It does nothing for your sentence. It means nothing if you don't take this specific program. Look for a real non profit program if you need real assistance. In the end, you will be broke and at risk to re-offend. I am sure this is a scam because certain lawyers send dozens of clients through this program (all to be locked in for a year under court orders after your court date) . The lawyers are probably paid off by Tom Casselton. I plan to have this program investigated by the department of Behavioral Health. Say no to the shady lawyers!

This program is a complete ripoff. This program is all about money. If you are considering this program as an option don't do it. Whatever you are facing casselton will only make it more difficult and twice as expensive. Like the above comment, this is exactly what happened to me every last word. Take it from someone that knows. Casselton you should be ashamed of yourself. By the way it's a new owner now her name is michelle.
I wanted to the respond to the above complaint.
Casselton Consultants is an outpatient substance abuse counseling program. Casselton has helped people in the Richmond area for over 20 years. All of the counselors are licensed or certified by the state of Virginia as Licensed Practical Counselors (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), or Certified Substance Abuse Counselors (CSAC). These certifications must be renewed yearly and are available for review.
Casselton Consultants does receive some referrals from lawyers, as well as, through the courts. Some clients are required by the courts to complete a substance abuse program. No lawyers, judges, or anyone is ever paid for referrals. This would be unethical. While Casselton does offer support to our clients through any legal issues they have, there is never a promise a favorable outcome in court. The Casselton Program focuses on its goal of assuring that clients take responsibility for their lives in such a way as to prevent the recurrence of behavior that might lead to other drug or alcohol incidents.
While I am sure Tom Casselton wishes it were so, he is sadly not a millionaire. He does have the satisfaction that there have many clients who have successfully completed the Casselton Program and have embarked on a new life free of alcohol and drugs.
