Continuously sell puppies with no mothers
If you are a first time bulldog buyer or have not done research on purchasing a bulldog, I beg you to do your homework. Castle Rock Bulldogs in Tallmadge Ohio going under the email name of englishbulldogsinohio or Castle Rock Bulldogs, and on You Tube have been selling unhealthy dogs that come from puppy mill breeders.
These poor puppies are not being bred by Castle Rock, Castle Rock Bulldogs are brokers. When they list these puppies they all look so cute, how could anyone resist the wonderful wrinkled face of a bulldog puppy? BUT, please take note. NONE of them seem to have a mother! A few say Grandsired by Floyd or what ever, but if you look in Castle Rock's "males" there is no Floyd, look in their "females", none are listed as the mothers of these puppies!
If Castle Rock does not own the parents, where are these puppies coming from? They don't even mention a mother or a father. You have a right and an obligation to know who BOTH parents are. If you don't know the history of the parents and what if any health issues they have or had, you have no way of knowing if you are getting a healthy puppy. Just because they look cute on the outside they can, and sadly many of us that have purchased Castle Rock Bulldogs, have found out they are not healthy on the inside. They have sold several that I know of with Heart Murmur and also with a multitude of other major issues, none of which will be covered by Castle Rock.
Google Castle Rock Bulldogs Complaints and read the horror stories. Their health guarantee ONLY covers DEATH! Until you have gone thru the hell of loving one of these precious babies and then finding out that it most likely will only live a year of so, or it will live the rest of it's life with debilitating medical problems and expense, all of which can be avoided if you will take the time to demand from ANY breeder before purchasing, all the information about BOTH parents. Please do not purchase your puppy from them. Help stop puppy mills in Ohio..
I feel like they might be scamming people, and I definitely feel taken advantage of
I placed a deposit in April for a specific breeding between two Castle Rock Dogs. I felt from the beginning that the transaction was a little shady because I never heard back from Melissa, I had to contact her to ask questions, and I felt like she was not full disclosing information I enquired about.
She never sent updates on what was going on or anything. Eventually I wondered what was happening with the litter, and after emailing Melissa for an update she responded with "The official due date is July 10!" We anxiously awaited for that day to come and bring news of puppies. July 10 came and went, with no news. I found their facebook page and posted a few times about my excitement with no response.
Finally, several days after the litter was due, I found out via the Castle Rock facebook page that there never was a litter of puppies, when Melissa posted "Sad news! Vet may have mixed up progesterone results when surgically implanting these two girls, we will not have puppies out of Kiki or Cici at this time. We still have Alice, Venus, Chloe, Jezebel, Rosebud, Petunia expecting in that order. please check website for future breedings and current available puppies." I felt like I had just been scammed. The puppy I had a deposit on didn't exist, and I feel that she MUST have known this for weeks and delayed disclosing this so that the time frame in which to file a dispute with paypal would pass and no one would be able to get their deposits back. I briefly considered transferring the deposit to another litter, but did some more digging and found several other complaints about this company. Not to mention the fact the Melissa herself NEVER contacted me PERSONALLY, as someone who paid a large deposit, to let me know what was going on.
I feel like they might be scamming people, and I definitely feel taken advantage of.
Bulldog puppy with multiple congenital defects
Horrible Experience! Sold us a male bulldog and the poor little guy has one testicle that did not descend. Melissa Riley told us that it really wasn't that much of a problem and we could still show him - all we had to do was have a vet insert a prosthetic testicle and the judges would never know. This apparently is her idea of how to "improve" the breed. It turns out this condition is inherited and if the testicle isn't surgically removed there is a significant risk of cancer. It's had to believe, but this was not the most serious genetically inherited condition - mega espohaegus, which significantly reduces life expectancy and requires continual care which is expensive and compromises his every day life. The names of the sire and dam were Athena and Zeus. We told Melissa this problem could be passed on to future puppies of this pair and she continued to breed the pair. I don't know which of his parents carry the genes, but she apparently is not concerned. She sold us our dog with breeding rights and refused to acknowledge that there was a problem - we will never breed our dog because of the chance that a puppy will inherit these costly and life-threatening health problems.
CUTE BUT UNHEALTHY ENGLISH BULLDOGS
While each time I write a complaint against CASTLE ROCK BULLDOGS/MINI BULLDOGS IN OHIO, I continue to hope that I save at least one person from getting cheated and broken hearted by these unscrupulous, money grubbing puppymill breeders. Look at their website and you will see that they have listed 15 puppies. Please note: the ones that they bred, HAVE parents and you can see pictures of said parents on their site. If you by one of these puppies the AKC papers will have their name, Castle Rock Bulldogs on the back transferring the puppy to you. If you buy one of the other poor puppies, PLEASE NOTE: these little ones HAVE NO PARENTS: that is because they have been bred by Tom, Dick or Harriet and who knows who, most likely Wayne Beachy or the other PUPPYMILLER David Yoder, both of Holmes County, Ohio's largest PUPPYMILL AUCTION HOUSE. When you receive your AKC papers for these puppies they will have some other name on the back transferring the puppy to you or to Castle Rock, and then to you. "RED FLAG" If Castle Rock is not the first transferring party to you, IT IS NOT THEIR DOG!
Shouldn't you know WHO bred your puppy, who the parents are? Both Mom and Dad? Shouldn't you see where your sweet baby was raised until it was shipped off to the brokers, Castle Rock Bulldogs, it's no different than buying from a pet store, to be sold without any information and yet they still are charging you the same price as their dogs. Talk about bait and switch. You think you are purchasing one of their dogs, but you might not be. Don't you want to see what the parents look like so you will have and idea if yours will have an under-bite, rose or flyaway ears, bowed legs, all the the things that make up a bulldog, the temperament and disposition of the Mom & Dad, all the things you don't see till they are grown unless you can LOOK at the Mon & Dad.
More important though is the health. None of these dogs are properly taken care of. They ARE NOT VET CHECKED, mine, which they claimed was checked by their vet, had a #6 heart murmur, the worst you can have, ear mites and cociddia, but their great vet missed all of that. I have spoken to people who have received dogs also with murmurs, ear mites, eating disorders, internal problems and joint problems, all common to puppymill breeding costing thousands of dollars and millions worth of heartbreak. Don't leave yourself open to this, once you give a deposit, THERE IS NO GOING BACK! Once you get the AKC papers it IS TOO LATE. You must check all this and ask all the questions and make sure it is in writing, BEFORE YOU GIVE THEM A DEPOSIT.
These people will be so cunning and helpful till they take your money and THEN, if you have a problem you will be entirely on your own. READ THE GUARANTEE BEFORE you give a deposit. Their Guarantee only covers 'DEATH' of your baby and their answer is "BRING US THE BODY AND THE PROOF AND WE WILL"JUST" replace it with another puppy, most likely just as unhealthy, but what the heck, there's more where that one came from, and you can go through the same heartbreak all over again.
I will continue to fight these people and you can help. Do not buy from any breeder that sells someone else's puppies. "STOP PUPPYMILL AUCTIONS IN OHIO, will be on the ballot in Nov. 2011. YOU CAN VOTE AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN A PUPPIES LIFE.

Maybe they need a visit from a local rescue group. If nothing's wrong, then they have nothing to worry about. If there IS something wrong, these rescue groups take their business of closing down unethical breeders very seriously. I was going to send you a private link, but considering the other complaints, I'll post it here for everyone to consider.

Most important ask if they have been tested (DNA) for HEART, HIP, disease. That is SO important. You also have a right and obligation to INSIST on seeing the MOTHER, any breeder selling puppies should HAVE the mother, and at the very least all the information on the SIRE and how you can contact the owner of the Sire. If they refuse any of this information, PLEASE, PLEASE, DO NOT PURCHASE YOUR PUPPY from them. HELP STOP PUPPY MILLS IN OHIO.
The two photos are of the puppy Castle Rock sold me, what a sweet face, sooo cute outside. Heart murmur inside. They sent her back to the PUPPY AUCTION! I never noticed the Fly Away ears or the crooked hind legs, they said she was checked by a vet, they lied, I just saw a cute puppy I wanted to love. I wish I had done better research.

Unethical English Bulldog Breeders
CASTLE ROCK BULLDOGS OR PIG IN A POKE?
Just a reminder to anyone buying an English Bulldog from Castle Rock Bulldogs, Tallmadge, Ohio or any other breeder/kennel. The pictures on Castle Rock Bulldogs of there so called puppies have been on there for a long time, these puppies must be 6 months old by now. Please ask all the right questions before you give these people any money. How old is the puppy now, not when the picture was taken. Who and where was the puppy bred? Is Castle Rock the breeder or some other guy you will never get to talk to? You don't want this puppy if you can't see and or speak to the breeder and see what kind of conditions your puppy was raised in. Who is listed as the breeder on the AKC papers? If not Castle Rock, you don't want to buy this puppy because they didn't breed it, they don't own it and are brokering for someone that should NOT be breeding dogs. Don't expect a written exam from a vet they don't get one, you get a piece of paper that Castle Rock fills out because they give their dogs the shots not a vet. Don't bother to ask about the health guarantee it dosen't cover anything unless your puppy dies or you can prove it had a congenital life condition and trust me they won't tell you if it did. You will have to fall in love with this puppy and raise it and then one day it will become very sick and they will tell you to bring it or the body back with all of the proof, that you will have to pay for and they WILL JUST REPLACE IT! JUST REPLACE IT, IT'S THAT EASY, to them. Will they replace your heart too? Forget about the money you paid them and spent on vets they will never replace any of that.
Please heed this advise. I have gone throught this with these people and am out $3000.00 and I have no replacement puppy either, because I refused to be forced to take a REPLACEMENT from a breeder I no longer trusted. They should be in jail, and not be allowed to continue to bilke people. But the law allows "Puppy Mills" in Ohio. Only by being a conscientious consumer can you help 'STOP' UNSCRUPULOUS BREEDERS AND PUPPY MILLS.

Stay away! Puppy mill in disguise!
SELLING PUPPIES THAT ARE NOT THEIR'S
Castle Rock Bulldogs has just listed a bunch of puppies on their site again. This time they didn't even bother to say who's puppies they are, Daivd Yoder, the puppymill guy, or "Wayne", the other guy. There is no information as to whether they are AKC, mini, standard, how old, who the parents are, nothing at all. Just how much they want. You are buying a pig in a poke if you purchase any of these puppies. Read their contract before you give them any money, their contract only protects them so that they are not responsible for ANYTHING once they have your money. You would not purchase any other large money item that had that kind of contract. You wouldn't, so WHY would you do that with a living, breathing puppy that you hopefully will have in your family for many years. You and your puppy deserve better than that worthless piece of paper they call a contract. Please consider this before you decide to buy one from them or anyone else for that matter.

SOLD SICK ILLEGAL AKC PUPPY
This is the letter I sent to:
Castle Rock Bullies
595 Elm Ave.
Tallmadge, Oh.
Sept. 2, 2010
Melissa & Robert Riley,
I am offering you one last opportunity to do the right thing in regards to the puppy you sold me. If you do not respond within 3 days I fully intend to file a complaint with the County of Summit, Office of Consumer Affairs in Akron, Oh.
Here are the issues for which I am requesting a full refund of $2500.00 which I paid you for the puppy plus the $100.00 in vet bills which you insisted upon because you refused to accept the diagnosis from my vet.
AKC papers are not properly signed. I did not receive directly from David Yoder a puppy. I bought the puppy from you, Castle Rock Bullies. You failed to acquire a “Supplemental Transfer” when you either purchased this puppy from a puppy auction or purchased it from David Yoder, who sold it at a puppy auction or, you are a puppy broker. Regardless, the AKC papers do not reflect the person from whom I thought I was dealing with, namely Castle Rock Bullies.
You failed to live up to your first paragraph of your “Bulldogs Guarantee Castle Rock Bullies Health Guarantee/Contract
All bulldogs bred and sold by CRB are accompanied by an accurate, up-to-date medical history. Dogs are checked by a veterinarian prior to delivery or shipping and are guaranteed to be sound and in good health at this time.
This must not have been done, as you were unable to show us a vet’s exam sheet or a receipt for a vet visit for this puppy. Had one been done this very obvious heart murmur, ear mite and coccidian condition, which was easily diagnosed by my vet and also by another vet of your choice, would have been a clear sign to a reputable, honest, breeder that this puppy should never have been sold without making full disclosure and certainly the price adjusted. It is unconscionable that you would knowingly sell an unhealthy puppy to a client and make them pay for extra vet exams to prove that the puppy you sold them was not healthy at the time of sale, not to mention the emotional distress of getting attached to a puppy and then you refuse to make a refund, expecting me to trust you and purchase another puppy from you, after the very unprofessional way you dealt with this entire issue.
Then the worst issue is that you are going to allow this puppy to go back to the puppy mill/auction with not a second thought. You admitted that this puppy was purchased or brokered to you, from David Yoder in Millersburg, Oh. who has been selling dogs at puppy auction (puppy mills) in Holmes County since, as far as I was able to confirm on the internet, 2006. He is on a list compiled by the investigation done by CAPS in their crackdown on “Amish Puppy Mills in Ohio.” When I asked you what would happen to the puppy because I knew two people who were willing to purchase this puppy for a nominal fee, even with all of the conditions it has, neuter and love it for as long as it had to live, you said it would go back to David Yoder and you didn’t care what he did with it, you didn’t want to know, that it was none of your business. WELL, when you sold it to me as a healthy puppy for $2500.00 under the guise of it being the same as buying one of CRB puppies, YOU made it your business and mine. You also stated that he would probably put it through the puppy auction again and that was fine with you. Again, not what a reputable, conscientious breeder would do, but then they wouldn’t have bought one from a puppy mill, auction in the first place. I then filed a claim with Consumer Affairs, CRB agreed to pay $2500.00 on 12/20/2010. Date came and went, no money. Then filed a Small Claims suit against these people only to find that there are many people on line ahead of me. This seems to be a way of life for them. Go to www.sccjis.com, click public search, agree, all agencies, all case types, you will be amazed. You will also see my case filed 1/27/2011. #2011CVI100405. I won my case, but will have to add my name to the list of liens to get my money back. Don't let this happen to you. Refuse to sign ANY agreement FROM ANY BREEDER that WILL NOT refund your money if on your initial visit to the vet he says it has a "genetic" (life threating) problem. Why should you have to pay 2 vets to prove they sold you a SICK dog and then be forced, because they won't refund your money, to get another dog from them. The inital vet check should be to prove you have a healthy dog. If you are breeding properly you should not have a problem with that because you should not BE BREEDING unhealthy dogs. Remember they want to sell as many dogs as they can you only want one, make sure you don't get ripped off like I did. Melissa will tell you they only have a couple of dogs from a friend they are trying to help. Ask to see the parents, both mother & father. Ask the weight of the parents, ask where you can see the parents. You won't be able to because their friend is Amish and has no phone and dosen't like to deal with people. Ask yourself, is this who I want to buy a dog from? So many of the pups on their site are NOT bred by them. I have watched their site they listed over 40 puppies and sold $60, 000 worth from Jan 1, to Feb 23, 2011. But they have no funds available in the bank...to pay the liens of other people the have ripped off. STOP SIGNING THESE ONE WAY CONTRACTS or you will be taking your chances.
DO YOU WANT TO BUY FROM THE BREEDER OR SOME other GUYS PUPPIES?

CASTLE ROCK BULLDOGS is still listing puppies, that OTHER people breed, on their site. But they must be wonderful cause they are from "Wayne" not the Puppymiller guy anymore. STOP! Not if you can't see the parents, where they were bred, how they were cared for, vet reports etc. There is no information as to weight, mini or standard What's the weight of the parents, color? These puppies aren't 8 weeks old which is an AKC regulation, but they have been taken from the mother already, missing that important last few weeks of learning they get from her. Check the AKC papers to see whose name is the breeder and seller, if it isn't CASTLE ROCK BULLDOGS, then the papers ARE NOT LEGAL. They might look great on the outside, but let me tell you there is so much that could be wrong on the inside that you can't see. I could not see the 'HEART MURMUR" on the poor little thing they sold me. Read the first and second part of my complaint and remember "BUYER BEWARE" Read that contract and you will see they really don't cover anything once they have your money. All they will do is replace the puppy you fell in love with, with another one and they have pleanty of thoses. All of the expenses of them selling you a SICK puppy will be yours, vet bills, x-rays, autopsies to prove they sold you a SICK puppy, all the heartache will be yours, all the trouble of getting the info "THEY " require will be yours and all the expense of returning THEIR SICK puppy, WILL BE YOURS, and you don't have a choice, because their contract protects ONLY THEM, not you or your puppy. So you are forced to take another questionable puppy or lose all your money. Don't trust their story of being vet checked either, remember, they said mine was checked by their vet too. Why should you have to bare all the expense, when it was CASTLE ROCK BULLDOGS that bred or sold someones sick puppy? You would not stand for that if it was anything else you were buying. Remember they want to sell that puppy, so stand up for what is at least fair to you and the puppy. It's their contract, they wrote it, so they can and should change it.

the supposed HSUS puppy mill "game changer" bill is all bologna! it will harm any shelter or responsible breeder with more than 5 unspayed females. It would require you keep your pets that you also breed, your precious babies, in sterilized pens instead of in your home with you. This bill is NOT intended to change the terrible puppy mill industry. The HSUS is trying to make pet ownership and small breeders disapear. Beleive me, their bill will not change the puppy mill industry but only harm.
If you purchased a sick puppy or want to report a puppy mill, you can share your story with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) puppy mills campaign online at http://www.humanesociety.org/forms/tell_us_your_puppy_mill_story.html.
