Transmission rebuild
Description of Complaint:
I recently had my transmission rebuilt paid almost $4000. My truck has had to be returned to the shop 4 different times now since then each time to be repaired under warranty from my first rebuild. Each time I have been out a vehicle at least 2 weeks. I have struggled to find rides to a fron work. I have spent money on rentals Ubers and gas for friends in order to be able to keep my job. It's unfair and I feel they should be responsible. I paid them good money to rebuild my transmission and I should not have to keep paying to have my truck towed there because they aren't doing their job right
Desired outcome: Compensation

Certified Transmissions lied about the supposed work they claimed to have done on our vehicle. They said that they rebuilt and/or "refurbished" the transmission in our Isuzu Rodeo. The car had the same problem after they "rebuilt" the transmission. We took it back. They claimed that they now knew what the specific problem was. They kept it an additional week because now it was supposedly leaking transmission fluid (after the "rebuild"). I picked it up on October 10th. They said it was now completely repaired with a rebuilt transmission. The car still performed as poorly, if not worse than it did when we originally took it to them. I had no confidence in Certified Transmissions any longer. I took it to a new shop. When this new mechanic laid out the transmission he called us with some surprising news. Not only had Certified Transmission not rebuilt our transmission, the only new part they put in it was a partially spray painted torque converter...and our new mechanic wasn't sure even if that part was new. No new seals, clutches...not even a new transmission filter or fluid. We had paid Certified Transmission $1500 for a spray painted torque converter. We took photos of the transmission taken apart. Our new mechanic gave us some of the old worn parts that obviously hadn't been replaced and the old transmission filter too. We took all of this matrial back to Certified Transmission. The owner was there that day. We asked him to describe what specifically what repair(s) they had done to our vehicle and what new parts would be included in that repair. He described several parts that we knew for a fact had not been replaced. we showed him all of our evidence. he tried to imply that our new mechanic could have put those parts in. We called our new mechanic on the phone and handed the phone to the owner of Certified Transmission. Our new mechanic told the owner of Certified that at best they had done a "patch job" and came nowhere near rebuilding our transmission. Our new mechanic also told the Certified owner that if he did not refund our money we would take him to court and that he (our new mechanic) would accompany us and testify in our behalf. We got our money returned. Stay away from this place. Either they don't know what they are doing or they know exactly what they are doing in promoting work that they never came close to performing. Places like Certified Transmission should not even be in business.

I brought my car in to rebuild the transmission and they called me to tell me to pick it up 4 hours later as one of the workers made a mistake and cut through a hose. When I picked it up and drove it, it was pour out transmission fluid and it totally ruined my engine. They then call me and told me thy could sell me an engine for $2700! SCAM SCAM SCAM COMPANY!
My experience in Marietta was just the opposite and I was surprised by the level of customer service that I received. My 2002 Ford Explorer which is driven by my teenage son left him stranded just before 5:00 pm and on a busy road while I was out of town. My son walked about a half a mile to Certified Transmission and spoke with Edgar who jumped into action and drove straight to our stranded car. He was able to assist us getting the vehicle towed to his shop and gave my son a ride back to our home. The next morning I was contacted with the news that we needed a new torque converter. I appreciate the kindness shown to my son and quick action and correct diagnostic that repaired our car correctly the first time. The best news is that we have driven over 5000 since the repair and we are still running smooth. Thank you, Certified Transmission and all of your staff! When we need you we will be back...
i took my car to the marietta ga shop to have my transmission redone. piced upu the car doing the same thing took it back additional 200.00 dollars and the card is still doing the same thing it is still under the 6000 miles warrant i haven't been able to drive because it jerks when driving. the keep my car over 3 months working on it
I have the same complaint almost but it may be just more drastic. The first time I took my car in on the way there I called Jeff in Convington, Tennessee, because on the way to there the car was doing its usual. When I would start coming to a start it would shift into second gear and not come out. Well back to my first visit. On the way there the car had went into second and wouldnt come out. So I drove approx. 10 miles per hour in fear of burning transmission up. I had called Jeff because the highway patrol stopped me and told me to either have it towed, or put it to the side of the road. At any rate, this car drove perfect didnt shake, great gas mileage, no oil, no water all was great besides the transmission. At any rate, I talked to Jeff, he told me to turn the car off then restart it, to reset the computer. It would run great til getting to town and continuously stopping, had to keep turning off and restarting.
That day he had ran diagnostic, I told him I would bring it back next day since I didnt have a ride back home to Bartlett, which is like 36 miles. So I took it back the next day, he said it would take around 2-4 hours. I waited around town, he called me I picked car up not even a block down the road, car did the same thing. Check engine come on again, car jumped into second. I turned around took it back. They turned the check engine light off and sent me on my way. Well got home parked the car. Next day went to go to the store, same thing with the car. I took it back to them next day. The did the same job again.
So the repeatedly did the same job for months saying the valve was bad. Anyways, this started in May of 2007, since then they have replaced everything in the transmission with no codes coming up on scanner for problem they started just second guessing needs this needs that, since that didnt work lets try this. Every time I picked the car up from them the car would get in worse and worse shape. I was getting 523 miles of to a tank of gas I barely get 233 miles now. I've only put miles on the car driving back and forth to his shop.
I went and picked up 2nd time car threw into 2nd, as before, I noticed temperature hand going up immediately pulled to side of road. Had the thermostat replaced, not to mention my blinker switch was broken also now I have to hold it up or down. So anyways took the car back after putting thermostat in Jeff called said it was ready, I went and picked it up dishing out more money, got down the road, car started trying to run hot again, I was watching the hand, because when I had dropped it off, temperature hand was on first line up from bottom about a quarter up. When I picked it up it was half way. I asked them about it. They said it was ok. So needless to say I was on the side of the road again, with a child in the car with me this time. For 3 hours for my daughter to get off work. Had the radiator replaced.
Took car back again. Another 500.00 or 600.00 dished out. Still have receipts just estimating the price, all were about the same. Picked up the car same thing. Like I said this has been going on since May 2007 now here it is Nov. 2008 . But a couple of months ago I went and had the car read by some other, auto zone to be exact. There machine pin pointed transmission module in computer. So I had to purchase computer. After picking up car from them replacing computer, I was driving home. The car was smoking, the tag was expired, had expired at shop, it was lagging, I could smell gas, just running crappy. The smell of gas had gotten to me so bad I ended up in the hospital.
I had the car taken back to them, the said that there is a fuel line leak, by the gas tank. I'm thinking how in the world could that happen. Nonone has had the car but them, I would only keep it for a day or two. He said it was like messed up for 12 inches, how in the world does that happen. Unless when car was lifted it shifted. Well anyways, after auto zone had gave me reading that it was the computer. I suggested to Jeff all that unecessary work they did, that they should replace the computer for me. He said no, he would just take off labor. Ok they got done. I had oil changed. Just like I did if I thought that they let the car sit, sometimes they would have it I think the most was 3 months at times. I thought maybe it was bad gas it was running so poorly. I kept researching, my serpentine belt was squelling when I picked it up, has a slight ticking sound. I went to change the plugs all the vacuum lines are disconnected. I called Jeff, he said he must have forgotten to put them back on. So I got some done. But he didnt offer. Anyways I asked him if would please ask his mechanic if there was anything else he did. One main vacuum line wasnt even connected in right spot. I still havent figured them all out.
The have scandeled me out of so much money it is pathetic, I'm on dissability, only get 634.00 a month, maxed out every credit card I have, plus borrowed money. Now I'm stuck with a piece of crap, that was running perfectly well with just the transmission problem. Car shakes now at idle, get no gas mileage. Shakes going down the road. Smoking. passed emissions last year to get tag, day before I took him the car. Picked up car this last time, went to emissions next day, they noticed the smoke. What in the world have these people done to a perfectly good car. I dont get it. Been well over 3000.00 dollars I have invested with them. This is the worst workmanship I had ever seen, Unreal. I dont know what to do. scared to drive the car anywhere from the way its acting. This is so unreal. I would advise people to stay away from there.
