Charter College is such a big scam. Promises in every direction and nothing is followed through! Im my situation a friend and I signed up for a MA program. I had originally signed up for coding but there was an opening really quick so I switched. I had to get the cost for the program for my scholarship to pay and they sent the wrong information. They still gave the other program info so I had to pay out of my pocket. Event though this was their mistake they didnt work with me to get to a solution. I talked to some of the staff and they kept trying to make it my fault they did not take any of the responsibility and of coarse we as the students cant win over them I had to pay. Another thing that i see is that they promise to help you with finding a job and that is not true they say as MA we can work anywhere and that is not true! Credits are not transferrable. I hate the fact that i wasted my time and money on something that was worthless!

Cristy4,
We are sorry to hear that such a costly error was made with your scholarship information. Please feel free to speak with the Pasco Campus Director of Financial Aid. Furthermore, please speak with the Pasco Campus Career Services regarding job placement, they have had many successes with assisting student’s in finding employment and they would be happy to assist you. In regards to the transferability of credits, this is at the discretion of the institution you wish to transfer to. We hope that you take a few more moments to speak with our staff so that you may find your Charter College experience more worthwhile.

Cristy, I agree with you. I've been screwed pretty badly by them too. Not only did a friend of mine learn WAY more details about pharmacy than I did in a short period of time, but SOMEONE thought it would be a good idea to surprise my classroom (which was in the middle of a final exam) with a mock pharmacy robbery in the classroom next door, without any forewarning or even excusing students who couldn't be exposed to such stressful incidents for medical reasons. Well, I was about 8 weeks pregnant when they did it, 2 tall men dressed in all black with guns and all... I suffered an anxiety attack that day, which led to a catastrophic miscarriage later on. I LOST MY CHILD BECAUSE OF CHARTER COLLEGE'S IRRESPONSIBLE STAFF, and now I have to pay THEM 15, 000+ dollars for education I didn't finish? Yeah, no. Someone better have some damn good answers for me.

Lawsuit Annoymous85, the school clearly violated your rights with this mock robbery, AMENDMENT IV;

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

This matter possibly could be considered as an unlawful seizure even though "mock" due to no prior notice that it was about to occur. Also in what manner did the men approach the students during the robbery? Were the firearms actual concealed weapons? How long did the 2 men continue the ordeal before claiming that it was not real? All these factors weigh in, and you without a doubt have a case in my opinion, though I'am not an attorney to give you legal advice.

I also attended the Oxnard Ca location and just a few days after my 5 day charge free period to withdraw ends, I was told that the amounts calculated in grants was wrong during the enrollment process and that I was to pay over a $1, 000 more in loans, and this led me to conclusion that the school was indeed a scam so I withdrew the next day to take courses toward the same degree at the local community college for a fraction of the price.Though a loss, personally better than being in huge debt with no work later, staying with charter.

Annoymous85 so sorry for loss, and may god bless you...

It's true they are awful, maybe if enough of us don't pay them they will have to file for bankruptcy and shut down...
The first lie Charter College told me was they are an accredited college and their credits are accepted anywhere and they are in fact accredited.
However, when I commented to a staff member "Great that means I can roll them over to UAA (the local university) later" the staff member said “Absolutely!” Two years later I have found out that is not true. Universities can choose what institutions to take credits from and they will not take them from Charter College.
The second lie I was told or you can call it given "misinformation", was by another staff member when I was having a health issue, which eventually led to a surgery. I asked how many classes I was allowed to miss because I was concerned with being involuntarily withdrawn and she said “14 consecutive classes”.
Then that lady moved on to different employment, I missed 5 classes and was involuntarily withdrawn with only 2 classes left to go and unfortunately that woman was no longer there and the conversation I had with her was over the phone and I had no proof.
In addition, I was unable to pay on my loans while in school and after my surgery and once I was withdrawn I had to pay off my balance of interest before I could enroll again and I have not been able to find employment at all to do so.
It seems that a great deal of employers have no respect for Charter College or want to hire their students.
Therefore regardless of the $15, 000 I have spent on classes to achieve a certificate in accounting, I cannot find employment in that field, I can't find anything, but the low paying jobs I was getting before going to Charter College.
My life did not improve financially one bit after those classes, in fact it got worse because now I owe $15, 000.
Also because I am behind on my loans I can’t enroll at the university to get a 2 year degree to get a great paying job and even if I could I would have to start all over again because they will not except credits from Charter.
I have also since found out that I could have received an associates degree from the university for about $36, 000 and the certificate at Charter costs $18, 000 which again, I still haven’t received yet.
I worked hard on having good credit and it is now ruined because of loans for this awful school. Do not go to Charter College, they are a rip off, you will reap very little from what you sow here, and you will regret it.
Go to a university or a real college the staff here is full of liars and they are immensely unprofessional. I could tell many stories of the issues that arose with the staff and many of the students in my classes, but this is already a very long complaint. All I can say is PLEASE...
Research your local educational institutions and ALL of your options and if you still decide to go to Charter College, get everything the staff tells you in writing. Email them your questions and have them respond to those emails to keep them as records.
That way when they lie to you about information you can have proof of their lies to sue them/not pay them. I sure wish I had done that and I am sure I will regret for years to come until I get that $15, 000 paid off and I don't know how I am going to be able to do that without being able to pursue an education to get a better job.

Hello Jennifer,
We are sorry to hear that you feel so negatively about your Charter College experience. We find some of your accusations very disconcerting and would like to speak with you about them. Please feel free to call the Anchorage Campus at 907.277.1000.
Also, we would like to mention that many of our graduates are successfully employed within their area of study and that we are proud of the positive relationships Charter College has fostered with area employers. Additionally, while Charter College is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, the transferability of credits is at the complete discretion of the institution you wish to transfer to. We have had graduates successfully continue their education at other institutions.

Like many of you, my niece was taken advantage of by Charter College. She was led to believe that she could earn her bachelor degree in accounting. They lied. She was left with a an associate degree in accounting that is worthless and is not transferable to any other college. These kind of colleges are good for vocational training and that's it. They are not good for academic degrees and their credits are not transferable to any other college. They are FOR PROFIT and that is it. She is now in debt for over $20, 000 with a worthless degree and is having to start over at a community college. She could have gone to a community college for a fraction of the cost or for free with Pell Grants. Because of her student loans she is having problems getting grants to continue her education. When looking for a college, ask if they are REGIONALLY ACCREDITED or NATIONALLY ACCREDITED. You only want Regionally Accredited schools, Nationally Accredited schools are worthless.
Here is a partial list of places to file complaints. If enough of you file complaints, then you may get the attention of the authorities. This is your only hope of getting anything done. Be specific and professional when filing your complaint. Tell them how this has affected your life and that you are now in debt but be professional. File a written complaint with Charter at the same time.

I AGREE WITH YOU CRISTY4! Charter College IS NOT an accredited school. I tried applying for EFDA and could not because Charter College isn't accredited. Needless to say, This school is a waste of time and money. The school lies and says they are accredited. I tried applying to DANB and was denied. Its unfortunate that these schools are taking advantage of people who want to better their lives and further their careers. I also hope this company goes bankrupt and goes out of business. It will save lots of people time and money. I WOULD NEVER ADVISE ANYONE TO GO TO ANY CHARTER COLLEGE! EVER! RUN FAR AWAY IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT ENROLLING! DO NOT! Thank you fake school for the info I will be filing complaints on every single one of those websites.

A total waste of time and money. Still trying to get information regarding these federal loans that were taken and not presented to me or my daughter. Yes they sell a dream and you get a nightmare instead.. I would advise anyone debating charter to turn and run fast. It is a waste of time and money.

I attended Charter College back in 2014 for the MA program. Got through all the classes and proceeded with taking the exam 3 times. After the third time of not being able to pass I was told I couldn’t take the exam again until 5 years that pass (2020). After that I didn’t hear from Charter ever again until I received a phone call from Nelnet school loans stating that I have to pay back a total of $11, 000 that was sent to them from Charter. I automatically thought, well For what? For not getting anything out of it? That’s pretty ridiculous. To make it worse, I was specifically told by a lady named Delia from the Pasco school that I was not going to be responsible for paying anything out of my pocket because financial aid was going to cover EVERYTHING. Every time someone asks me what I think about Charter I always tell them no, don’t do it. Now, here I am paying back money with no certificate or anything out of Charter since it’s a non transferable credited school. So basically it’s like I never attended this school in the first place. Not once have they tried working anything out with me. All they tell me is that they already got paid by financial aid and now i owe to Nelnet not Charter. This school is a scam.

I have an issue with the fact that there were loans applied for and received, that I did not apply for or received myself, why should I have to pay that back for a 1 day a week on campus class 4.5 hours, no books given I paid for my own no type of materials for school at all, except for paper hand outs on the day of class (4sheets at most), which is less than 10 dollars for a pack of printer paper. so they got the financial aid, what is the loans for?
