I am dealing with the same thing with Chase Home Finance. This loan modification process has been going on for 11 months! At the beginning of the loan mod process - They never informed me that the loan modification payments would be considered less than an actual payment, thus making me have "rolling lates" - consistent late payments. Now my credit is even worse. Actually, I could have paid the actual mortgage payment when I started the process, but they kept telling me to "keep making the trial payments - keep sending them in." The loan mod process is still not complete! I had no idea about predatory refinancing/ or loan modifying until now.
Just 2 months ago, They denied my loan mod for "failure to provide documents" (which is BS I've sent them many, many, many documents 100 times over) and then they have the gumption to mail a letter denying my loan mod - to the property address. The only thing is that I don't live at the property address! It is a rental (I'm living with my boyfriend because I can't afford the payments) my tenant lives there. So the letter was returned to chase. I never saw that letter ever. A month later, the next thing I see is an Accelerated Foreclosure letter sent to my Mailing Address (where I actually live and they know I live there!) stating that I haven't made a payment in 15 months! This is untrue as I have been making the advised montly "trial payments" based on their guidance. Only the trial payments are less than optimal and not a full payment - leading to delinquency!
So, when if/when I finally get a new interest rate with this Phantom Loan Mod- it will be based on a higher rate based on poor credit showing "delinquent rolling lates." Thank you, Chase, for messing up my credit! You're the BEST!
I am not having a issue with flood insurance, but am with the modification of my home equity loan. I applied for a modification in Dec of 2017, was accepted in May 2017 with my new modified amount starting Jun 2017. Was told by a Chase employee to make Jun payment and send a "good faith" payment of mod amount so I did. Over $700.00. Then was informed that I overpaid and would not have a payment due till Jan 2017 of new mod amount. Statements read ZERO DUE from Jun-Dec 2017 so assumed Chase Employee gave me the right info. Jan 2017 statement reads over $1300.00 due for month of Jan. Since Dec I have been transferred all over the US by Chase Employees, each one telling me that they cannot help me but give me a number of one that can just to find out that they cant help me either. Over 15 numbers and hours of time on the phone lines. Finally, get a hold of a Chase Supervisor in Florida from the Home Lending Dept who is looking into this issue but still have no resolve and now not only is Jan balance showing default but now the Feb payment went towards the balance of Jan that I DO NOT OWE, and Feb is now in default. Its a complete nightmare. My home is on the line and my credit reputation has taken a sheet all because someone put my modification into the system wrong last yr and no one can figure out how to rectify it. I put my trust into Chase and my Home on the line to get help with unforeseen financial hardship that befell upon me, and I get 3 months worth of run around, no resolve and no answers. Just collections calling me everyday telling me my loan payments are in default and wanting me to send more money. It is all uncalled for.. I was told by this supervisor that I am to keep making my monthly payments until this gets resolved and will make things right with the credit bureau plus take care of the late fees and interest for the months I paid that went towards the balance of the mistake they made in the first place that will show as default also... That will probably take another 3 months + to resolve.. I put my trust into Chase and I can only pray this issue gets resolved before it goes on much longer...
yes i am one of those people whom chase had given a loan modification with my new payment starting march 1 2017. even though we abided by the agreement and made our payments on time . chase called us nine month after we modified and told us we were nine month delingqent.my husband and i tried in vain to find out what went wrong.for them not to honer the contract but they will not give us an answer.we made a customer complaint to the department treasury . the contacted chase on our behalf which resulted in some lady calling us from the executive resolution group at chase and left a number to call her . i have been calling that number and leaving messages for days, i am still waiting for her call.
Through out this hole ordeal the only calls we have gotten from is to ask us for money.the kicker ;; we are now served with foreclosure notice.
You need to talk to the Commissioner of Banks from your state. They will need third party authorization to talk to Chase and you need to talk to a state approved Financial Institution. Chase has been stealing from us and a lot of other folks in this country. I hope you have all receipts. Always write down the person's name you talk to and if possible record the conversation. It may be against the law but so is stealing from consumers.
EVERYONE ! YOU NEED TO REPORT CHASE TO THE FEDERAL RESERVE. GO ONLINE AND YOU CAN FILE COMPLAINTS RIGHT ON LINE!
I know your add is a little old but I think I can help you if you still need it. Please e-mail me @ jamie1211@hotmail.com
My husband had to take a reduction in hours due to the economy and I am handicapped so unable to go to work to make up the difference. We contacted Chase to see about the Re-Modification program and did everything as they asked. Well after resubmitting our paperwork numerous times we at last were told in March 2017 we would be on a 3 month trial period to qualify for the program. Also in March of 2017 a non-profit organization in our area did a 5k walk to help 2 families with catching up their back payments and we were one of those families. In April 2017 we made the required trial period payment along with a 20.00 over the phone fee because they, Chase, stated we could do it no other way if we were to stay in the Modification Program. Yesterday we received a Mortgage Loan Statement from Chase and I noticed they did not apply the April payment but put it in a Suspended account and charged us an additional late fee. We were NOT late! I called them and after being todded from one person to the next I at last had a customer service specialist ( LOL ) tell me that because of the non- profit organization catching our mortgage up in March that we do not qualify for the program even though they took our trial payment plus additional phone fee in April without saying one word about what they were going to do. We have also never received anything by mail from them stating so. I told them we still can not afford to make the original payments and that I did not believe it was right that they considered the non-profit organization a means to our dilemna. They told me that I could try again for the Modification program even though I think they are wrong in what they did. I would have told the non-profit organization to help someone else if I had known this would happen. Please if anyone out there has filed a class action suit against Chase, contact me immediately so I can join.
I have had the same problem I fax papers and call and file modifications and no result. Like you said it seems that they want you you walk. the department of transportation was coming through my place they offered me compensation I signed. Now I was told by there attorney that Chase requested all the money. I just signed the check that was in my name to chase yesterday. I am detroit I thought that I was buying this property.
I submitted remod app. additional info was requested and submitted. 3 months goes by with no response. I phone to inquire on status and am told package has been sent to underwriter. 1 week later a letter dated the day of my phone inquiry says remod was declined for lack of documentation. a subsequent phone call revealed all documentation requested was provided and that the file would be revisted and would take another 30-90 days. what up? clearly Chase is not interested in following through with home remods.
Started my refinance process in October of 2017, and went with Chase because I thought it was the easiest way since my mortgage was already with them. I sent in all my paperwork, tried to hold them off from taking the $750 fee until they just took it from my account. $350 is refundable once you close. I really didn't know what I was doing and trusted that I was getting the best deal and my mortgage broker kept telling me to trust him he has my best interest in mind, etc. Silence for a while, and they called and said my loan was approved at 5.6 and do I want to close tomorrow? I asked to see the paperwork I would be signing ahead of time, and was told this couldn't be done. At this point, I had asked around and thought I could do better (in the rate). This is when the abuse started. My broker told me how much time he had put into "helping me out" and that my credit rating was so poor I was lucky anyone would even consider refinancing me. It was getting close to Christmas and the pressure to refinance was taking a toll on me. I decided to shop around, and found another company that offered me a much lower rate at the terms I was asking for. I contacted Chase for the refund of my application fee, and went through Consumer Office in my area. Today - June 1st - I received a letter from Chase Executive Office stating that they researched my claim and that I signed a note at 5.1% was given a credit of $350, and therefore would not be refunded the remainder of my application fee. They must have researched another loan because none of this information is true. I tried calling the number at the bottom of the letter but was told this person was not working. Left a message and will update if I hear anything.
They just did they same to me...
They have done the same thing to me!
We the taxpayers and upstanding citizens of this country have bailed out the banks (tarp), however the banks are not helping homeowners who are unable to pay the mortgage. I became paralyzed due to a spinal cord injury and was hospitalized for six months. i'm unable to pay march and april mortgage. before this i had an outstanding payment history. chase is totally unwilling to assist me. i contacted them and the representative was extremely rude.
now chase calls me 5 or 6 times a day..never shows the courtesy to leave a message. i want to report them for harassing me. they add insult to injury by adding a $75.00 late fee...doesn't chase get it..it isn't that i don;t want to pay i just don't have the money right now.
i'm tempted to contact 7 on your side in order to expose chase and it's unwillingness to help people who need help on national t.v.
i am so disgusted right now i don't know what to do.
I have an FHA loan with an impound account, of which Chase is supposed to administer. When I went to refinance the loan, they assured me and the new lender that they were paying the property taxes. After withdrawing from my escrow account, paying the County, and then subsequently getting refunded by the county through error - I got stuck with $350 in delinquent penalties. Chase refuses to acknowledge their responsibility and will not pay the fees. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH CHASE!
Try having a modification approved after a year of submitting paperwork just to find out six months later it was reversed, without letting me know anything, they just starting sending new applications to apply if I was having trouble making payments as scheduled by them on time and my payments were NOT even reduced. They added what I was behind on to the end of the loan and apr dropped 1/2% only. Now for the past 3 weeks of calling I'm stilling no closer to getting an answer.
Same thing happened to me with an intent to forclose.
Chase/ JP Morgan as whole sucks.. Their credit cards are taxing, their Health Care plan has tons of hidden fees and now their home loans take advantage! Oh!. Would you like to open a checking account now! Look at this complaint posted on another web site.
http://www.my3cents.com/showReview.cgi?id=60783
All this complaining and yet we still support these banks.. Stop using them and making them more wealthy, find a little small community bank in your neighborhood and put your money there.. They are also protected by FDIC, worried about the fees because your small bank does not have many branches? Most small banks have a fee reimbursement and if not, well stop at you small community bank on the way out of town and grab some of your money! Stop using these banks that take advantage of you.. I did.
Chase took a double payment in about of 4000.00 i called to ask why this was done and they said sorry for the inconveence and the money should be there within 72 hrs. But there was no fund transfered so I have to call them again today and they said well it takes 15 days to reverse this. so i had to talk to a supervisor who asked me to fax my bank statment and i said well okay faxed it got confirmation # that it went right. so I have waited for the supervisor to call and she did not so I have to call again and again and again their respose is the supervisor is busy they will call you give my cell okay no call. there was overdraft fees and other payment penalties and two kids but they just don't care oh we appolgize for this and that so finally i get to talk to supervisor after telling them i'm writing on consumer affair and will have even to sue for the money then bingo a supervosor who seems to be cooperative and told me to reverse the double payment within 48 hr:) my advice stay away from Chase.
I been working with them since April. They keep requesting the same paperwork which i keep faxing to them. I know that they are receiving it because i call the next day. It is the middle of june and i have been on disability for four months from work. Now i am getting the run around where they transfer me 5 times and have me on hold for up to 20minutes. they denied my claim twice based on their opinion that i am not sending the paperwork which i have recorded as being sent. I am keep record of everything. And i will be looking at legal help shortly if they cannot get their responsibility in order. I am a big fan of companies taking responsibilities but when they don't i am glad to get the Government involved because it is our money that they gave to the bank to help the consumer not to fatten the ceo bonus!
Hello I was wondering if you located any class action suits against Chase I had the same thing happen to me. the phone number to the person I worked with now no longer accepts voicemails and noone has any way of locating the person who was working on my modification. They also took the pre mod payments from me. They also recently took a settlement offer from me and still have not released my property.
I am in same boat with you...been researching for help
We started the modificaion prcess about 1 year ago. Submitted all the required paperwork. Set us up on a temporarily reduced payment. He kept calling them. They would say everything is in order-waiting on your case to go to the committee.Call back in 1 week. Call back in 2 weeks. Nothing. Finally we recieved a letter saying we were granted the modification and what our new payment was. We had to call the payment in and they had no idea what we were talking about. As a mater of fact they said we were not approved for the modification. Also, because we had not been paying our full payment we were now behind. They could not accept a payment until we brought the acoount current. If we had that kind of resources we wouldn't be looking to modify! They also told us we had to start the process all over again because some of the laws had changed.so we sent it all in again. Every time we called we talked to someone else. We asked for extension numbers that never would work. We were told that we didn't have to make the payment at all during the process because every thing "is on hold during the modification". We got letter from Chase stating we were in danger of foreclosure because were behind. We called them and they told us that we didn't have to worry. It is just the process they have to follow. We wouldn't be foreclosed on during the modification process. 2 different people there told us this. Then the Sherriff came with papers! We ended up going to the courthouse for a 3 way call between us, Chase, and their lawyer plus a local lawyer hired to represent Chase locally. (Who could not believe how inept chase was).We were told to file a 3rd set of modification paperwork! Because my husband workd for his father and recieves a 1099 instead of a w-2 they wanted 6 mos worth of profit and loss statements! Notarized! We don't own a business and therefore don't have profit and loss statements! So we sent the paperwork-AGAIN! They gave us 2 weeks to get is faxed to them (from the local lawyers office). We had it there before the 2 weeks was up[. The day after we sent it they sent us a letter saying because we didn't sent the requied information we were denied the modification! The next day we got another letter saying-we got the information. We will contact you in 30 days! Yesterday (more than 30 days later) they called wanting more paperwork(all of which we had sent them). They have lost the copies (apparently all of the last 3 years worth) of our taxes and bank statements for the last 3 months. We have faxed these and snail-mailed them -they have them! They gave us 24 hours to get the records to them or they would start the foreclosure process again! So- we sent them AGAIN! We called to make sure they recieved them and they said that we had to send them again! That they were blurry! That is on there end, not ours! Enough is enough! My husband is about to let them have the damn house! Now we owe them upwards of $9, 000 which they think we can actually pull out of thin air! If we had it we wouldn't be in this mess!
Chase is getting away with this! Look at all the complaints on this website! It's called HELP FOR THE HOMEOWNER-NOT HELL FOR THE HOMEOWNER! Class action needs to be brought against them!
They are doing the exact same thing to me. It's like I was reading a posting I wrote about CHASE MODIFICATION PROGRAM. I can afford my home and make pymts...but they told me not tooo, because that would mess up the modification process...now its been almost 2yrs...8 representatives later, and $20, 000 behind. They just started the process over "again" and a foreclosure date has been set...I feel helpless cause I can afford my monthly payments. Sooo fustrating! I agree a Class action suit do need to be filed. Something is very corrupt on how they are handle the modification process.
I agree with the complaints against Chase Home Finance. I have had the same problems with lost documents, lack of communication among their own offices/employees, extremely slow response time, disorganization and saying I owe what I don't owe. I am very much interested in a class action suit against them.
How can we file a class action suit against Chase?
I am guessing the original issue here was that you got a form letter from Chase indicating you did not have enough insurance coverage. Failure to act on your part would result in their setting up an escrow account and your having to buy insurance from Chase.
This happened to me every six months for about two and a half years. Every time, my very long-suffering agent at State Farm contacted Chase and confirmed that I did, in fact, have enough insurance.
The form letter they send indicates that you should have insurance equal to one of three options. None of the options gives an exact dollar amount, but is based on your property value or on the mortgage balance. Chase does not list what they think your property value is, so it is hard to determine why they think you don't have enough.
It was something of a mystery to me that I began getting these notices just about the time I nearly had my loan paid off. Why Chase would be concerned that I have my home covered to 80% of its value, when the amount they were into it for was far less than that is beyond me. Even my insurance agent couldn't understand why they cared whether I had any more coverage than needed to pay them off. Just looking out for my best interests, I guess.
Fortunately, due to another escrow-fraud issue with Chase which took about six months total to clear, I was able to pay them off and get away from them altogether, or I have no doubt I'd have gotten at least two more lack-of-insurance letters from them by now.
Again, I think Chase is "trolling" for escrows, and I suspect they are doing it primarily on older loans that are almost paid off, perhaps with the hopes they are dealing with "senior" citizens who won't notice or who won't put up much of a fight. I wish someone would investigate this.
I have been trying to get my home loan modification from Chase for over 4 months (before we fell behind). My fiance was out of work for 21 months and I also had reduced income. Everytime we submit documents (everything they ask for), they say that we are missing something or they need an updated doc. Now, after being 4 months behind and I got a better job and my fiance finally went back to work, they are making me re-submit the request. Now we will not qualify because we make too much. How do you catch up on $8, 000 in payments without losing your house? We did not even choose them as a lender. They bought our loan from the original lender. Crooked, not right.
If anyone is willing to compile a lawsuit against Chase feel free to email me at dfoxfields@google.com
I am in the same exact boat with Chase, we were 4 payments behind because of an emergency surgery and recouperation time for my husband! We sent in all the paperwork in November of 2017 for the modification and got a confirmation letter in the mail. In April of 2017 we got our foreclosure notice, I had continued as instructed to make payments on the loan, so that we never fell any further behind and when I called them I was asked by a snotty rep "when did you supposedly submit the modification paperwork." I told her and low and behold they found them and told us that they had somehow never been assigned to a worker. I asked that since we had done everything we had been told including making our payments and not falling any further behind to please pull us out of foreclosure and I was told they could not. So we had to resubmit a new more current modification request. We did that thru a counselor and kept getting the same requests, we need this or that and it was almost always the same documents. This went on for months, I told them that we are getting further and further behind and was told not to worry about that either. Well as of Christmas we were denied our modification because we make to much for the modificatin program. I told them we only had a temporary problem and could make our mortgage payment. Now we are a year behind and they want us to catch up all of our payments to them or lose our house. Well during this process we got hit by a tornado and our roof had to be replaced. They refuse to sign off the check to get the roof fixed, we basically were told that they would keep the check if we sent it in so now we are in a catch 22 situation. Our roof started leaking so we had to take the money we had set aside for payments and then some to get the roof fixed. It has been a nightmare. I am at the end of my rope and do not know what to do, I have a special needs child that we adopted a few years ago. Its not so easy to pick up and move when you have been in the house for 10 years and have equity in it too. I guess that is why they don't want to work with us cause they may get their money back out of it. But I wouldn't count on it if I were them since there is still work inside that has to be done in order to sell it. We have had to tear out flooring and all kinds of stuff since the roof started leaking because they would not release the insurance check. And guess what there is no more money to fix those things, if they had just let us have the money to fix the roof before it started leaking we would have had the money for a good chunk of the payments. Now we don't know what to do. It is a sad thing for a human to sit and think to themselves that well "I have life insurance that could pay the house off." My kids need me and I would never do anything so stupid as to hurt myself but I just can not get over what Chase has reduced my thoughts to...
This is the same way they treated me. The attorney general needs to get off there ### and do there job! I have found someone that I think is getting the job done for me.
Our balloon mortgage matured 6/08. (At the time, we were w/ Washington Mutual who was bought out by Chase.) We were unaware that our mortgage was going to mature. The mortgage maturity caused the bank to cancel our automatic monthly withdrawal. We were notified in 8/08 about the past due payments & worked with Sherry Blisset, Chase Home Loans in IL to modify the loan & reinstate monthly withdrawal from our bank account for payment who told us that this was a permanent fix. This 'fix' lasted only a few months when the withdrawals were again cancelled without our knowledge or consent.
We were notified several months later that our loan was again past due & we had to start the paperwork & loan modification all over again. (The paperwork & loan modifications take 20-30+ hours on the phone over several weeks w/ min. 10 people before you are transferred to the correct department. A colossal waste of time & money.) The 'permanent fix' & reinstated monthly withdrawal for mortgage payment again only lasted a few months when it was unexpectedly cancelled without our knowledge or consent, of which we were notified in October 2017.
For the third time, I have already spent over 60 hours on the telephone with numerous, numerous people trying to GIVE CHASE MONEY & fix our loan so that we can continue to make payments. The first nine people that I spoke with all said the same thing- They had no idea why, but they were unable to take any money from me, they could see the problem but had no idea how to fix it and also had absolutely no idea who I could speak with to fix the problem. They even acknowledged that while I am begging them to make a payment & they are refusing to take it, that they were going to continue to report the delinquent account to the credit agencies which is significantly negatively affecting overall credit scores & line of credit with our credit cards. The Loan modification department continues to tell us that we need to modify our loan. We have done this TWICE and it has not been a permanent fix either time. Filling out all of the same paperwork and submitting it for a THIRD time will most likely not be a permanent fix either. We would like a PERMANENT FIX.
So in a nut shell, we owe Chase money for our mortgage payments- I have repeatedly tried to give Chase the money owed- They refuse to take my money, don't know how to help or who can help fix my account and continue to report me to the credit agencies & seriously mess up my credit. We continue on-going attempts to work with Chase, currently with no positive outcome.
Our Desired outcome:
1. We would like to be able to make payments to Chase to have our account balance up to date. (How many people do you know who BEG to make their mortgage payment?)
2. We would like to have our mortgage PERMANENTLY 'fixed' so we are not running into the same problem every few months.
3. We would like to have the monthly payment withdrawal PERMANENTLY reinstated so that we can continue to make our mortgage payments ON TIME from our Chase bank account.
4. Most importantly, we would also like Chase to update the reporting with the credit agencies (going back over the last 1 + years) so that our credit is not negatively affected.
Please help us! We WANT to pay our mortgage and are devastated by the effect this (and the last two times this happened) is having on our credit. Prior to this, we did not have any negative marks on our credit reports. This is causing significant damage & we have no control & no way to fix our damaged credit which will haunt us for the next 7-10 years.
We are in Illinois. If anyone has any suggestions, we would LOVE help!

We bought a new home in 7/09 which is an FHA loan and Chase is the holder. In November of that same year my husband had his income cut by 40% and I was out of work. We contacted Chase about our situation and they stated that there was nothing they could offer us because we have not been in the loan for 12 months. So, we decided to put our home on the market and sell it because we couldn't afford the $1300.00 payments. We stayed in contact with Chase as they called us 5 times a week to tell us that we were late with the payment...? Our home is still for sale today and we are working with a shortsale attorney to get it sold and get rid of Chase! Chase agreed to a shortsale but not to help us with a payment modification? WTF! It makes no sense. Now we are no longer living in the home and the home had a buyer and 2 weeks before the home closed the pipes burst in the home. The buyers pulled out of the deal, Chase sent out their home preservation crew (their insurance) and they refused to fix the damages even though they are the one's insuring it. The homes price has been reduced by $60, 000 all together since 11/09. We are trying to get Chase to let us keep the home and for them to pay for repairs so that it is not condemned. Why lord...
We have had a lot of trouble with Chase trying to get our home loan modified. Our first attempt was in May 2017. We received documents for the Modification but they had my name and another man's name which was NOT my husband's. We waited for months for new documents to come as they said they would fix them and resend. We never received any. I called and was told our information was out of date and that we need to resubmit everything. So we did. We resubmitted all of our documentation 3 more times. Each time we were never informed that something was incomplete until we called months later to check the status. We would then be told something was incorrect, missing or that it has now been too long again and we would need to resumit everything. I feel we should have never resumitted documents. Chase should have fixed the paperwork they originally sent in 2017, like they said they were going to, so our Modification could be complete. Today we received a Notice of Default pinned to the front of our house because we are behind on one of our loans with Chase. My husband and I do not want to lose our office. Which would be why everytime we were told to resubmit everything we did. I called Chase today to see what we need to do to maintain our house. I called and left message at the number we were given. I then called the number given for Chase. I was then transferred and/or given 5 different numbers to call. I was transferred, put on hold and hung up on. Every time I call Chase this is what happens. No department ever seems to be the right department. No one knows what to tell me. No one really seems to know much of anything of what needs to be done. I still do not understand why Chase was never able to fix the original paperwork that was done in 2017.
I just had my run in with Rikki Trago at Chase Home Finance. I paid off my home mortgage over the last couple of months. The Customer Service errors were so varied, that I filed a complaint with the AJ of the State of Oregon. Chase received this complaint and sent their attack dog, Rikki Trago. In her letter to me she stated "Chase's goal is to provide the highest level of quality service", yet her attack was at me. numerous times she used the word 'you' as if I was the reason for all the problems. Statements like "You are confused." You don't understand." It seems to me that they were the one's confused. I little apology and using 'We' statements are how I would think executives should be trained to handle their errors. I see why all these wonderful executives at Chase require their substantial bonuses. Us small people don't matter to them. I hope the back isn’t too big to fail as with this kind of treatment to their customers, they won’t be around for long. Or will we need to bail them out again so they can blame the problems on normal people instead of admitting they made a mistake.
We submitted all required forms, documents, etc. to Chase in February 2017 for a Home Loan Modification. Todays date is 4-19-11 and absolutely nothing has been done. We have sent 5 requests for a modification. My file is about 5" thick of everything I've faxed to Chase costing approx. $225 in fees. We were assigned a relationship manager in March 2017 and dealt with her til July 2017 when she informed us we were denied because of turning in a required document 1 day late. I told them what date their letter of request for further documentation was dated and when I received it. Chase's letter stated I had 5 days from date of letter to return documents. It took this letter 6 days to reach me. Can you see where I'm coming from. So we started process over again. From July to December 2017 I faxed 3 different home loan apps because AGAIN CHASE said there was nothing on file, yet I have fax confirmations. In December 2017 after calling to check status I was told we were denied again because Chase doesn't think we reside at the property. When we purchased home in 2017 our physical address was a route #. Our county issued 911 addresses in 2017. This information was submitted to Chase over and over! So, we started the process again and have been put through the ringer in attempting contact with the proper dept. I usually spend approx. 1.5 to 2 hours on the phone each time I call them, because I am redirected over and over and have to tell my story each time. The telephone numbers provided for home loan mod. are redirected to customer service. Rec'd letter from Chase 3-5-11 acknowledging receipt of loan mod. request. 1st part of April I spend 2 hours on phone to again be told they don't show anything. I was finally able to speack with some who gave me and email address to place a complaint. I have received notice from Chase that this is being looked in to and I should hear something in 30 days. We'll see. If I had the money to hire a lawyer I would. What can WE DO?
I was just approved for a permanent loan modification in March 2017. I started the process in Jan. 2017. What made a difference in processing the paperwork was going to a Chase branch and having the branch fax the paperwork & provide a receipt. The Chase employee also called the fax recipient to confirm the paperwork was received & noted the name of the person she spoke with. That got the ball rolling.
I suggest you watch the documentary, Inside Job. You can rent it at a video outlet, buy it online on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Inside-Job-Matt-Damon/dp/B0041KKYBA) or order it if you belong to Netflix. The film explains the whole mortgage mess. Often times, mortgages have been bundled with good, bad, and so-so loans and SOLD to INVESTORS. It's the investors who have the last say as to whether or not your mod will be approved. Keep playing the game, call every other day, become a nuisance so that they tend to your case. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
My mortgage was sold to Chase and I have been miserable ever since. We used to mail in our payments but noticed we started accumulating late fees because they wait to post the payments to your account. Then we started paying them through THEIR website, and it was the same deal took up to 7 days for it to post to the account. Finally, set up bank to bank bill pay for them; and eventhough the money is taken from my account the same day it doesn't post on Chase's side for up to a week. Chase had the nerve to tell me it was the limitations of their systems that causes the delay and that it is my responsibility to send my payments in sooner. WTF! Their system has no problem slapping me with late fees or sending me late payment notices, calling me late at night - they even called me on CHRISTMAS! BUT our account was never actually behind because we always submitted our payments. They are worse than the mofia. My husband and I are refinancing just to get away from Chase.
The nightmare of Chase Bank...
In December of 2017, I found out I was losing my job as a self employed medical transcriptionist, working from home due to car accident related injuries. I had this job for 8 years. We contacted Chase, our mortgage holder (for the small older home we bought in 2017 before the housing market fell), to tell them what was about to happen to be proactive so we would not run into any credit problems and have them help us with an easy solution. HA HA.
It's been 16 months. If anyone I knew did our jobs the way Chase did, they would all be fired. The reason I have lost my job as a medical transcriptionist is because of the wonderful government’s involvement of the EMR systems that doctors must use for their medical records. This takes away the jobs of transcriptionists, and is a faulty system to say the least. Doctors should be treating patients, not having their nose in a computer. So the government sticks their nose into medical records, and it’s a mess. Well, it can’t be any worse than what they have done with the mortgages…thank you Chase. The head of Chase has been very vocal about how he doesn’t approve or agree with the HAMP program because people have signed a contract (i.e., mortgage) and they must pay it and that’s his thing. (and he gets a $19 million pay raise)...Well, he had no problem taking the billions of dollars from the government did he? Couldn’t put his hand out fast enough. And our tax dollars bailed them out. Oh, and we were also told during this time not to pay any mortgage (when I asked if we could be a reduced amount) because I was told if we could pay, then we didn't need help.
Right before I found out about my job, I had a car accident, injuring my neck. So we’ve had tons of medical bills. Physical therapy, surgery, co-pays, portions insurance doesn’t pay. Our medical bills have been running around $1200-$1500 a month. We told Chase that too. And that is not going to change anytime soon, thank you lady who doesn’t know red means stop.
As soon as I knew I was losing my job, I called to say – look – what we can we do about our mortgage? So we talked about the HAMP program and we did all we had to do to apply. Copying TONS of papers, UPSing the package of information ($10 of copying, $49 for UPS times seven because of Chase's incompetence, losing paperwork, allowing it to "expire" (and we have found out that’s the norm). We called them every week. Every blessed week. I have a list of names longer than the nations that we spoke with. As stated above, from department to department to department, each individual telling us something completely different. Every week. They don’t know what color their own underwear is. After being told time and time again that we had no “relationship manager”, our paperwork finally “expired” and we had to reapply. So we went through it again. Went through the same mess again – week after week after week as my paycheck got lower and lower. We are now making about $3000 less a month and can’t make our mortgage payments. Our house isn’t big. It’s an old style farmhouse that we have put $50, 000 in to fix up (my adorable kitchen 8 x 8). We weren’t the people who bought a house out of our means.
Anyhow. After the second time of the paperwork expiring, my husband went nuts and told them this had to be resolved that very day. Now this was 6 months into the process. Maybe two weeks later, we finally got a relationship manager. Had to send ALL OF THE PAPERWORK AGAIN…..Each time, copying fees, UPsing fees. Ok so now because of Chase’s delay, we were 8 months behind on our mortgage. Our credit is toast. And guess what? One Friday, we finally got a package from Chase. Yeah, they lowered our mortgage $75 a month. What a modification. That helps. How much did they get of OUR taxpayer money to help people in need? Really? What a freaking slap in the face. Shame on them. Our relationship manager, Elizabeth, told us if this modification was not to our satisfaction, we should reapply, and we did, and heard nothing. Now realize that during this time, Chase either lost our paperwork or let it expire 7 times. We had to continually reapply. During this time, my pay steadily declined as I was losing my job progressively. Because of Chase's delay (16 months), our credit it beyond repair. Can we even rent anywhere? Will anyone even give us a chance? I couldn't even charge a hot dog at this point the way Chase has destroyed our credit.
It's now April of 2017. We still have heard nothing. We have gotten letters from Chase stating they are working on our modification (about every three days), even from people who when you call their number and extension, don’t exist at Chase. We have gotten a letter stating that foreclosure will start on a specific date. We were then, two days later, informed they were still working on our modification. Then we were notified by a congressman’s office that we contacted, that we were not approved because we didn’t have enough income. NO KIDDING. That’s why we need a modification. BUT, when we contacted Chase for about the 899th time, we were told that was incorrect, and they were still working on our modification. Carol, the woman my husband has spoken with twice now (cause we actually have her extension) says that the foreclosure information is wrong because they are still working on it and she emailed the underwriter to see the status. I was told that in February of 2017! OMW - you need Prozac to deal with this incompetence. Christopher Elkins - a name on so many letters. We've been told to call - never calls back even though his voice mail says he will return your call within 24-48 business hours. I'm thinking hours means years? (or he is another phantom name of a person who doesn’t exist). Another two letters, we contacted that woman only to be told she doesn't work for Chase. Are you flipping kidding me? So now, 16 months into this mess, we are still here. Can they be anymore incompetent? They are a joke. Yet when they asked for help, we taxpayers had to bail them out. What can be done about this mess? So guess what - this is going to TV stations, congressmen, senators, talk show hosts, it's going everywhere that has a mailing address. And I can only pray it helps us and the hundreds of thousands of other people in the same predicament.
So now an addendum that will blow your minds...Yesterday, on 4/20/2017, we received two letters from the magnificent Chase. One letter was dated 4/12, from the same infamous Tosha Hayes stating again (it's the same flipping letter we have about 10 copies of with different dates) that they are working on it and we will have an answer within 15 days. Remember- she doesn't exist. Ok it's only been 16 months. Then another letter dated 4/16, stating that no, we are denied. We are not qualified for a modification. We will lose our home. We have 30 days to contact them or they will begin foreclosure. So I called them and spoke with a woman named Jen, who certainly seemed like she had a brain. She said thatletter is the final determination. Our mortgage doesn't qualify for a modification. So unless we begin making more money quickly, there is no other alternative but to do a short sale. Now keep in mind, we called Chase the day we found out I was losing my job because we wanted to avoid the credit trash we have become, and to keep our home. 16 months later, 80, 000 phone calls, stress and anxiety that would make your head spin, we are losing it anyway. Way to go Chase. I realize I had probably repeated myself and been a little run on, but that's the way we feel at this point. Someone needs to step up to the plate and hold these people accountable for the lives they are destroying.
Addendum: Ok – so Chase has decided now that we don’t make enough money to help us. We don’t make enough money for a modification. Ummm duh – that’s the problem. Our income has gone done because all I could find was part-time work making a lot less money. That’s why you need a modification. I could give you the countless names we have spoken to in the last two months (with dates and details of the conversation), but our choices are foreclosure or short sale (or deed in lieu of). Needless to say, no realtors want to touch a short sale with Chase – imagine that! They know you can’t talk to anyone. That no one ever gets back to you, and that it’s impossible to deal with them. Why would a potential buyer want to deal with that? And now we read that Chase is willing to pay over $11 million in penalties, rather than help people with modifications? Really? How is any of this legal? Our tax dollars bailed them out? The words I could use for these people are not words a lady should use. But trust me, they are on the tip of my lips should you want to know what they are. After consulting our realtor and then a lawyer, our house is on the market. We will see what happens. Nothing has sold in our area in forever. We have 10 homes for sale in a ½ mile radius – two that were on the market for over a year. Chase – if that’s what you want – I guess that is what you get cause our government doesn’t seem to be able to stop you. HUD is a waste. Meeting with them got our hopes up only to have them to absolutely nothing. Again – couldn’t return phone calls or follow through with what they said they would do. It’s no wonder people go postal. Do you know that when we talked with the “loss mitigation” department of Chase the one time (many many many times, more times than I care to remember), we were told that when we do a short sale, they will assume the house and take the keys. So we found a place to rent, sold furniture, got rid of things (smaller house), etc., . only to have Chase tell us – oh no – that’s not right. You are responsible for the house. You need to keep the utilities on, cut the grass, etc. Really? Cause we are making less money so how could we do that? Could any of you maybe know what you are talking about before you talk to humans? Shame on all of them. So we can’t take the rental. So if our house should sell, who knows where we will go with the credit Chase has caused us to have.
When calling Chase, they tell us we are nowhere near foreclosure. It’s been over 17 months with this roller coaster with Chase destroying our credit. Our house is worth nowhere near what we owe on it, and sadly, we put over $50, 000 into it. And it’s not even worth what we paid for it, much less what we put into it. Only in America.
And because the government screwed with the health care system so badly, heaven only knows when I will ever find a medical transcription job getting paid a salary whereby we can have a house again. I don’t ever see it happening. Work being done by computers in all areas of employment, not just my field. Work being outsourced (and they wonder why there is a high unemployment rate?). Maybe I should run the country……
So we are just updating and passing on what is happening in the real world. Hope you take the time to read this. Something needs to be done and soon. There is only so much Xanax in the world to help people deal with this mess.
I have a home loan through chase and I recently fell on hard times due to a medical condition and was unable to pay my mortgage...I called chase and arranged a repayment plan once I went back to work...I had Bank of America send them my monthly mortgage payment and chase sent it back only I didn't get the money back to my account...they told me they couldn't take the payment since my house is in foreclosure...news to me. So now they won't take any money to get me caught up but want to see if I qualify for a modification mean while my mortgage is still due so if I don't get the modification I'm still in foreclosure...one would think that I'm showing good faith by paying over what my mortgage is and trying to get caught up but instead of accepting it they are hindering me.
i agree i was made aware just today after a mod agreement was made and signed that i had a short fall in escrow and they raised my payments another 135.00 to cover the 1700 and possible tax raises in the next 5 years.
