Kind of works
Pro - no irritating adds, huge plus only reason for 3 stars.
Con - free version crashes consistently. I have not found a save feature and auto save fails to work.
I would recommend for working on snip-its of code under 35 lines. Program has failed several times on a command line game program of less than 100 lines.
Can’t type (Reply)
I thought the problem was solve but it’s not. Every time I run a program now, it won’t let me type anything. I can’t even use the onscreen keyboard.
In order to be able to type again, I have to close my code and open it again, which is a big problem. I like the app and its interface,, but this is a really big problem.
Seriously love this app!
I love working on websites on this app! I haven’t had any issues thankfully until now that I am on iOS 16, something with buttons not working, I have the same code on VSCode and it works just fine but now it’s not on CodeSnackIDE.
I am having issues with buttons not working nor working as a link to another page.
Please fix!
Terrible FOMO Freemium Experience
Probably would have ended up subscribing if it didn't prompt me with that FOMO, 50% discount. Just deleted it instead because I literally can't do jack without subscribing. That kind of business tactic just screams a lack of connection with your target community. The editor itself also looks awful and doesn't even use monospacing
Too many bugs that make the app a pain to use
There a ton of (mainly UI-based) bugs that make this app a pain to use, for example, after logging in with your account the login screen will overlay on top of everything else, requiring you to restart the app to do anything. In its current state, the app is very unfinished and feels more like a TestFlight beta than an public release.
Net
The IDE is great! I can either write a program on my iPad and later, sync to my iPhone. I usually code in Swift, but I really enjoyed creating my pet-project with Java wit this app. It would be awesome if you add support of fully custom build commands of pre-hook scripts. But even without this, I'm super enjoyed my purchase! Good luck, devs!
Cool
I think it’s really cool how you get your own Docker container to work in. A lot of hard work went into this app and all of its services.
No qualms with the app itself, just I’m sorry but when I’m out and about, it just makes more sense to wait to get home to continue my project on my desktop rather than trying to write code and debug on my iPhone.
Works Okay
It does what it says on the box, but obnoxiously regularly will ignore an iPad smartkeyboard. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn’t. It’s frustrating, the iPad is such an amazing hardware platform, but half baked software is keeping it from being truly useful
EDIT: The keyboard is a logitech touch combo. I can get it to work by hard right clicking
Preview Error
I’ve had my ways around using IDEs and things like that. This one is really nice to look at and find things. I can not say much about it only because I’ve just started using this software. The only thing is that whenever I use Java and use a print, it doesn’t show half of the letters. I am on a iPhone 13 so I do not believe it is the phones fault but I think it’s a simple software issue. Other than that, it seems great!
Great so far, just a couple things!
I haven’t been using the app for that long, but I think it’s great. The interface is really nice, and you can still use it a lot without paying for the subscription. One thing that I came here to mention: it won’t let me paste anything into the file! I am using Java, so I can’t speak for any of the other languages, but I assume it does the same. Also, it would be great if i could import libraries like JavaFX. Although there’s room for improvement, it's still great especially for a beginner!
Inaccessible
I've always had issues with IDES's not bing accessible with my screen reader and this IDe is no exception. CodeSnack is not accessibile with VoiceOver. At the bottom of the screen, they're tabs the VoiceOver does not know the names of. When creating a project, VoiceOver can not select the templet I need to use. For example, using select Java leaves theitem unselected. I would very much appreciate it if the IDE was accessible but unfortunately, it isn't. Oh well, back to Unix and TextMate I go.
Looks great but not running java programs well
Its looks nice and cool but when i want to run a java program that includes inputs it seems like it’s not responding after I fixed every error and every thing is ready to go its not running iam surprised that a nice app like that doesn’t have support team or any official website or any accounts on social media it’s realy weird tho
By the way iam using ipadpro 2018
Hope some have something to do about that cause i am in live with this app interface and I really wanna make it my official programing app on my ipad
Simple and straightforward
Haven’t a clue how to code. I download a lot of apps. I did go for the subscription right out of the gate, don’t normally do that but I did in this case. The app itself is colorful and well plotted out. Easy to understand what to do. Sometimes you fumble around with new apps and it takes a minute to get your bearings, but not so in this case. I have no clue what any of it is talking about. I couldn’t tell you want C++ meant if C~> and looked like it was sticking its tongue out but I’m confident that this will be an app that will help me along in a new journey.
Be well.
Unable to launch on iPad Air 3
I bought an iPad Air 3 on 6th Oct., 2020 and I downloaded this app, wishing it could be a useful assistance in my daily work and life. Unfortunately, this app didn’t launch successfully on the same day I got my iPad Air 3. I thought it was the iOS issue and waited for its update, however, the truth has proved me wrong. It is 28th Dec., 2020. This app still doesn’t successfully launch on my iPad and it seems to me the app won’t be able to launch forever on my iPad, I believe I might get myself a brand new, latest version of iPad so that I could use this app properly, lol.
Great app, just missing one thing
I’ve been using this app for the last hour and I love it! Great for testing little things when you’re learning one of the supported languages. The app looks polished and the UI is very intuitive. The free version had everything I needed, and the added “programming keyboard” above the normal one is very helpful.
My biggest complaint: you can’t copy/paste code! I have to laboriously type out each line, which is frustrating when I could go much faster by copying and pasting. I will probably use this app a couple times a week as is, but if copying/pasting is added I’ll definitely become a daily user!
Thanks for the app and keep up the good work!
Code autocomplete just changed the whole user experience
Thanks to the code autocomplete I’m now buying the premium membership, that was the only thing to make this a pretty good alternative for Java on the go.
I love the portability of my iPad and I love to code on the go, but there wasn’t any application for Java out there in the App Store that was good enough. This one is perfect for me to practice data structures and algorithms and keep sharpening my knowledge.
PLEASE ADD MORE SUPPORT FOR AUTOCOMPLETE, for example: autocompletion for built-in methods would be so great.
I’m really loving the app so far, keep up the good work!
This is literally perfect for me, thanks to all the devs behind this
Terrible IDE
I grabbed this bc I was in a coffee shop w/o my laptop and I wanted to write a script in Python. I wasn’t expecting brilliance; I’d rarely use it anyway because I downloaded it on a phone, not a tablet. I was blown away by how awful it was. It didn’t even meet my low expectations.
The error highlighting warns you for not coding in according with PEP8. But PEP8 states that the style guide should not be an ultimate law never to differ from but this app treats it as such. It makes it impossible to make use of warnings that actually matter because it’d be easier to read through and look for them yourself than check all the warnings.
The color themes aren’t customizable and you have to pay for alternate ones.
Do yourself a favor and look up someone’s list of recommendations instead of downloading the first result in the app store.

Way too laggy
Whenever I try to run or add to my code, the app lags a lot and sometimes completely erases what I wrote.

I purchased the pro monthly subscription and it’s not working. All pro features are still locked. Disappointing.

Apps servers are always down for an update
I’d like to write a positive review about this app, but every time I run code the servers are down for an update.

No use of folders
Would be an amazing app if i could run another java file in a folder besides the app.java file. Otherwise, works good.

Crash on startup
The app crashes on startup on iOS 13, the app looks promising but I can’t use it to know for sure. Looking forward to using it once updated.

So many ads
Untrustworthy. Subscription for this crap? Only Idiots will pay for it. Doesn’t have app that can run in Mac.
No android version.
Update: ad still exists.

App Not Working Correctly
I just purchased the membership thinking I would have the access to the “smart code completion” , “highlighted errors and warnings” and none of them work, only thing that works is “auto wrap”. Very very annoying.

Subscription
I’m not completely opposed to subscriptions. I get its a more viable option for devs to make more money. But when I purchase an app for lifetime maybe its not fair to start charging. This app was quite finicky before now I regret more having paid for it.

Subscription doesn’t work
The reason I’m giving it two stars it’s because I just bought the subscription to execute a small program which I was not able to. After buying the subscription the program just stays loading on the executing screen and it doesn’t do anything. I just spent $5 on nothing because it is not working.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Why get rid of the lifetime price?
I subscribed to the app for a month so see if I liked it and they went and removed the lifetime purchase feature.
Edit: so it’s safer to remove features that were always a part of the program? What a laughable response to say we removed features to maximize profit. Yeah I’ll take my money elsewhere.
