Credit One Bank review: overdue bill 24

Credit one bank has always sent me an envelope (Bill) as a reminder to make a payment and given me ample time to do so... If they are late giving me a reminder... Naturally I will be late... It appears as though they have this all figured out and practice "not sending the payment envelope" resulting in an extra overdue charge... Vultures!

Credit One Bank is a rip off... They have called me 15 times today due to a bill that is 7 days late. 15 times and after the first three I refuse to pick up the phone. Very nasty company I figure they will be by to break my knee caps any day.

I agree... This company is a major rip off! I swear something is not right with this company... First off every time i make a payment on their website they charge me an additional 5.95.. Then they claim that i never sent a payment in.. But i know i did because they always give me a confirmation number... Then they claim that my bank declined the transaction because i never had enough funds in my account. So i call my bank to see if credit one attempted to debit a payment from my account and my bank says no and if they did i should have had or had way more then enough to cover the payment that i did try to make. Then i call credit one bank then they try to tell me that i gave them the wrong account info thats why it wouldnt go through... The same account number that i used to make a payment the previous month which is already stored in their website... I cant see how it went through the previous month and not the next month when all i did was click "use the same payment method as last month". Then on top of that they want to charge me.. What i think was a $24.00 fee because i was late even though it was a mistake on their part.. These people cant get their story straight. I tried to give them another chance and the next month after that the same thing happened. Sooo... I decided to finally close my account because they were ruining my credit... Being that i was late almost every month... And it wad not due to that fact that it was my fault but theirs.. So i called to close the account and i paid off my balance... Atleast i thought i did... And guess what? They say my account is closed but again i never made a payment and i know i did. Because i personally called their number on the back of the card... And spoke with one of their very rude reps... Who gave me a hard time about me closing the account then i told her i wanted to pay off my balance... She took down my bank account info so she could debit the payment... And she proceeds to tell me that until my account is paid in full i will still accrue interest on my balance... So i said ok then that shouldn't be a problem cause i wanna pay it off... She said that whatever payment i made will cover the balance including all fees... So now they are calling me again from 8 in the morning till 8 at night calling every 10 min on my cell phone telling me that im late on my payments... At this point im not even answering my phone anymore because it seems like all im doing is yelling back and forth with one of their reps who does not seem to know what he is doing nor understand what it is im saying. And he keeps saying" if u have money why you no make a payment now why you no make the payment now" . I feel like saying ( pardon my french ) but "[censored] i already did." the last time this happened they told me that my payment were going to be debited twice because they might have put in the transaction twice. Once when i already put the payment in which they claim they never got and again because they needed another payment now.. Because according to their records i was 7 days late. Im really pissed offf cause the account should have been paid in full about a month ago... And they're telling me that i never made a payment again... So now i have to call my bank again and figure out what is going on.. And i know they are going to tell me the same thing... " that credit one bank never tried to debit any payment from my checking account" ... I am sooo upset! Because now this company have added more fees... Late fees... Interest... Blah blah blah because they claim that i never made a payment .. And again... I know i did! So they added another $50.00 well actually 47 something dollars in fees for something that isn't my fault... I think they are doing it on purpose to make some extra money in feeesss... Now my balance is 47 dollars more then what it originally was when i thought i paid it off... I am pissed! What a rip off! And on top off that all off the customer service reps that ive talked to are all rude! Kindda seems like they are always harassing me... Calling me every 10 mins... And every time they call they always seem so hyper with a bad attitude... What is wrong with these people? They are driving me crazy. So instead of fixing my credit, the original reason why i got this card to begin with... They have ruined it... Am i wrong for being this upset?

I agree that Credit One Bank and similar companies can rip you off, they mostly deal with people with poor credit & low cash flow (i.e. folks with little clout).

A few suggestions:

Don't pay via their website ($5.95 fee is a joke!). I use my banks online bill payment to pay them. No fee and I have proof of the money going out to them from my bank. No chance for them to say they didn't get it.

Just use them until your credit score improves and you can get a better card. I did. Has a higher limit, lower interest rate and NO annual or online payment fees. Never, ever be late with companies like this, they count on it and hope for it.

To Richard D. Wind: it is not their responsibility to remind you to pay, they might take advantage, knowing that lots of people will "forget". If they forget the envelope, use your own, the payment address is on the bill.

I have a credit one bank card, and i payed my payment on line so they charged me almost seven dollars for doing that. What a rip off.No one else does me like that. The first time they were late sending me my bill, i called them, and they still charge me $35.00 late fee. I sent them a check the next time so i would not have pay the seven dollars. I made sure i sent it in time to get there.NO,they said i was late $35.00 more dollars. I have the check to prove it.They have no fax numbers where you can find them. No person to answer the phone. Please our govt. needs to go afther this co.RIP OFFS.

always check your bill close date on your statements, your bill close dates is when your statements are being sent out to you guys, and it takes 7 to 10 days for you to recve that. if you dont recve it by that time there might be something wrong with your local post office or with your mail box or whatsoever. and you can always call their customer service number or look your account online, come on guys, we're no longer living in the stone age, you can access anything online now. lets not put all the blame to credit one. I also have a card with them just read the terms and conditions.

I paid off my Credit One Bank card in May, of course I had to pay their monthly portion of the annual fee in June, now they keep calling me saying I never paid. They cashed my check the day before it was due in June. I faxed my bank statement as they said & they are still calling me asking for money. Now they told me that the bank statement may not have been good enough & i need to go to the bank & give all this information on the fax & it will take 7-10 days when before I was told 3-5 days. I worst part of this was all I owed was $5.81! Paid in full! So now they want more money from me since I paid off my balance.

Credit One is the worst company I have ever dealt with in my 12 years of having credit cards. I signed up with a debt consolidation company and credit one won't even accept the fact that I am trying to pay them off through the consolidation company. EVERY other credit card company has agreed to have me pay off in this way and at lowered payments and interest rates. They won't accept any terms! I also am getting pretty sick of 20-30 calls per day asking me for money from people who are rude and harassing!

I closed my account 3 months ago and received 3 $29 late fees for paying on the date my bill was due. It's not right that a credit card company can take such advantage of its consumers. Now I have to pay an addition $87 dollars when I didn't owe that much to begin with. I'm trying to build my credit and this is NOT helping. If anyone know of an agency that I can file a complaint with PLEASE email me.

I would like to disagree with all complaints.. First off, this credit card isn't a regular credit card. It's second chance.. meaning you already have bad history of paying your bills on time, so now your credit is screwed. So why should this company cut you any slack when it comes to paying your bill on time? There's no grace period, so maybe you might be encouraged to pay your bill on time, get used to that because that's what builds credit, duh. Yeah processing fees are an inconvenience, but companies like these have different companies process payments for them like western union and the companies get charged fees for that. So why should the company have to pay your fee to process a payment when you should have had it in the mail already .. with such low lines of credit your payment is $20 .. THAT'S $20! And everything is disclosed in the terms and conditions when you sign up for the card, but yeah only idiots read that. Furthermore the problems with payments not going through, who the hell does not check there account on a regular to see if payments went through, that's just poor financial management.. which in conclusion is why you have the credit card in the first place .. grow up people.. you had your first chance.

I have a complaint never late pay before time I do not understand why you have to pay 7.95 to do check online to make your payment that does not make sense I have a real problem with that if you are paying then why should you have to pay the fee? Just like last I was checking to see if my payment was received yet and they had charge me a late fee the day was not over but you charge a late fee what sense do that make, how are the helping to rebuild credit if they are charge late fee before the day is over not checking their mail

I received my Credit One bank card and my bill was due on April 26. I used my online bill pay with my bank and they sent a check with my account # on it to the correct address...get this on April 3rd, a full 23 days before the payment was due...that's right 23 days before the payment was due...

Three weeks laters and they still had not processed the check or credited my account...so I was forced to pay online at their site and give them their extra payment fee in addition to pay on time. It took them 2 days to post this payment although it was on time.

Then I get a message back from my bank that they returned my payment like two days before the due date. They had the check and held it because they don't like it when people use bill pay to avoid their fees. It doesn't take 3 weeks to process a check folks. They force you to pay using their system and pay their fees so they can make extra money. They know you'll pay online to avoid being late and they can tap you for the payment fee.

If I keep having problems with them, I'll cancel the card. 1st Premier allows me to use bill pay and always credits my account quickly. HSBC allows me to pay online with no fee.

Keep an eye on your account because you can pay a month in advance and they'll hold your check and make you pay their fees to pay. I'll try again next month, but if they keep playing games, I'll kick them to the curb.-Marie

Credit one is the worst credit card company! Their customer service is very rude. I regret ever opening an account with them. Just made a payment of $350 two days ago and I checked my bank checking account and it shows credit one has taken their payment of $350 YET credit one still won't allow me to have access to my available credit til next week, their holding my $300+ available credit for another 6 days...my goal now is to close my account with credit one by next month.

I tried paying off my card in full and they said as of that date my balance was a certain amount. But I needed to call back next month to see if there are any other charges before my balance would be considered paid in full..What a joke. Worst Credit Card company in the world..and I have other credit cards and this is not how they do business. I am signed up with all my other companies to pay on line automatically and therefore I am never late. The other credit card companies don't charge me a fee to pay my bill...what is that all about? a fee to pay our bill...really? Credit One you suck! I am going to transfer the balance to another card...and forget this company ever exsisted..their customer service is the WORST..one acutally hung up on me..and another was extremely rude. What comes around goes around...and they suck!

The only thing I don't understand is a company that makes you pay 7 days in advance from the "DUE DATE" for it to be on time. It takes them a week to post the credit to your credit card. And this is for online payments! If you have to pay within less then 7 days then you should use their express payment that costs 9.95. Everywhere else in the universe understands "due date" and you have up to that DATE to make a payment. Not 7 days before. If they wanted to do it that way, why not move the due date back 7 days and post the darned payments up to the date that the credit card holders have to pay by. This is the main problem with this kind of credit card. Maybe they are "teaching" their customers to pay early and not have to pay a fine. That is crazy business. Credit re builders are supposed to be understanding and have a leeway for credit screw ups for people that are trying to rebuild, not feed them to the sharks. Just my Penny.

I don't even have an account with this credit provider, I was just checking on them to see what kind of company they were first - Pretty Scary looking by the comments and most of the complaints seem to be very consistent with each other (something I'll certainly keep in mind when reading all their contracts). Some of the opposing comments knocking those who are airing their complaints look rather suspicious as well, as if written by the company or employees of the company themselves. It just doesn't seem to be the type of response you would see from another consumer. I totally agree that all payments should be made on time by the borrower and of course there should be processing fees like with nearly all banks and yes, for those of us who have less than good credit (mine due to a bankruptcy and losing my company in the recession who lost everything) is expected to pay more than someone with gold credit. I only hope that if I take the leap of faith with this company to help restore my credit again that if all payments are made on time that there are reasonable lender fees along with the very high percentage I see is charged for "this second chance" at restoring credit and just hope they really don't run scams to purposely trip you up. Just Sayin~

Question...Unless the bank has people who selectively edits or deletes feedback, why aren't all these negative comments on their review board? Right now they show a 4.7 out of 5.0 Star feedback review. I'd be interested if some of the people with complaints here left their honest review on their feedback board if it would remain there? Here's a link https://www.creditonebank.com/credit-cards to air your feelings about the company.

Just curious since the company has their own feedback board why all these complaints aren't posted there where they would be better viewed? Has anyone tried? Do they delete or modify their clients feedbacks and only keep select comments? Right now it says their customers have left an average of 4.7 out of 5 star feedback. I'd be interested to see if all these complaints here, if left on their review board would remain or not? Here's a link to where you can leave feedback and reviews if you desire... creditonebank dot com/credit-cards (url links not permitted here I guess so you should be able to decipher that link I left). Try there and see what happens?
