Davis Vision Vision care insurance

I've been conversing with an "autonomous assistant" for weeks, you cannot navigate the web site or by phone. I've been paying the premium for eyecare for a year. % months trying to find a provider. Fidelis confirms the provider, but when you contact the optometrist, they claim they're not a provider.
Then I call empire, you can't get thru by phone... So I drove 20 minutes there again, only to be told, they're the only store that does not provide that service for that insurance.
This is getting a bit silly. Can someone please give me some direction.

Desired outcome: DUH!

Davis Vision Reimbursement

Davis vision denies out of network reimbursement without cause. They try to wear you down by denying for insane reasons requiring u to resubmit over and over. Their exam coverage severely limits what a doctor can do resulting in pathetic exams. My exam was in a Costco closet and took 15 minutes. Very disappointed. Davis Vision No resolutions!!

Davis Vision•Follow Up•Why•We
Need our Vision Health Records•

Dear Davis Vision,

Hello! I hope you & your family are well. We are not very well. I sent you an email & physical letter sent through our US postal service. Unidentified individuals went into LensCrafters, my vision center & my son's vision center, removed our vision health records & left with them. Who are these people? I do not have any copies of my vision health records or my son's vision health records.

I filed complaints against Vision Boutique after finding out they were the "unidentified individuals that removed our vision health records from LensCrafters. Why? HIPAA Laws have been violated here due to "unknown individuals" who just decided to remove our vision health records? Seriously?

I contacted Davis Vision to request my voice ision health records & my son Brady's vision health records & I got denied, the woman told me she can't do it. Are you kidding me right now? How can I be denied my own vision health records & my son Brady's own vision health records?

Davis Vision has been our vision provider for years. We shouldn't have any problems obtaining our vision health records. I'll add Davis Vision to the list of names I've created that might be involved with our unfortunate circumstances. I'll include our own "vision provider" which will not send us our vision health records.

I'll give you until 12/10/20 to send our vision health records through our US postal services. Do not just email them to us. We do not have a computer & we do not have a printer. I have NO way to obtain the physical documentation without those (2) things.

I do not understand how this situation even happened. My gorgeous son & I have been hacked shortly after our vision health records were stolen & taken to Vision Boutique.

We've never heard of Vision Boutique & we definitely would never give anyone permission to literally remove our vision health records from
Lenscrafters & leave with them in their possession.

I have a dispute with Vision Boutique & they have our vision health records. Davis Vision is our Eye Care Provider & should always comply with any of my requests, no hesitation.

I'm seeking copies of our vision health records or I'll assume you are part of this illegal action of violating HIPAA Laws. I'll file claims with very credible people. The very odd behavior of the "eye care system" literally shakes me to my core. As far as I know

Explain to me how "unidentified individuals" just walked into LensCrafters, removed my vision records & my son's vision records, but we (patients) can't get our "own" vision provider to send us copies of them? Are you kidding me right now?

I don't know why & how you're violating federal & state laws & regulations, but we have rights & I will not back down. HIPAA Laws are explained very well in the piece below I took & used as just an example from online resources.

(Article)

The combined text of all HIPAA regulations published by the Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights runs to 115 pages and contains many provisions.

There are hundreds of ways that HIPAA Rules can be violated, although the most common HIPAA violations are:

Impermissible disclosures of protected health information (PHI)

Unauthorized accessing of PHI

Improper disposal of PHI

Failure to conduct a risk analysis

Failure to manage risks to the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of PHI

Failure to implement safeguards to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of PHI

Failure to maintain and monitor PHI access logs

Failure to enter into a HIPAA-compliant business associate agreement with vendors prior to giving access to PHI

Failure to provide patients with copies of their PHI on request

Failure to implement access controls to limit who can view PHI

Failure to terminate access rights to PHI when no longer required

The disclosure more PHI than is necessary for a particular task to be performed

Failure to provide HIPAA training and security awareness training

(Theft Of Patient Records!)

Unauthorized release of PHI to individuals not authorized to receive the information

Sharing of PHI online or via social media without permission

Mishandling and mismailing PHI

Texting PHI

Failure to encrypt PHI or use an alternative, equivalent measure to prevent unauthorized access/disclosure

Failure to notify an individual (or the Office for Civil Rights) of a security incident involving PHI within 60 days of the discovery of a breach

Failure to document compliance efforts

(How Are HIPAA Violations Uncovered?)

Many HIPAA violations are discovered by HIPAA-covered entities through internal audits. Supervisors may identify employees who have violated HIPAA Rules and employees often self-report HIPAA violations and potential violations by co-workers.

The HHS' Office for Civil Rights is the main enforcer of HIPAA Rules and investigates complaints of HIPAA violations reported by healthcare employees, patients, and health plan members.

OCR also investigates all covered entities who report breaches of more than 500 records and conducts investigations into certain smaller breaches. OCR also conducts periodic audits of HIPAA covered entities and business associates.

State attorneys general also have the power to investigate breaches and investigations are often conducted due to complaints about potential HIPAA violations and when reports of breaches of patient records are received.

(End Of Article•Example)

How could LensCrafters just allow this to happen, especially because we had absolutely No knowledge of it until I called trying to order contacts from them.

At that moment, I hung up the phone & went into LensCrafters to get explanations about why our vision health records were missing from a vision center we've used for years.

There will be (no) excuses because every US citizen has some knowledge of HIPAA Laws. Do you honestly think I won't file complaints supporting my well documented emails & physical letters?

I'm not walking away, I'm not built that way. I did not sign a consent of authorization for anyone to touch our vision health records & I didn't give permission for anyone to remove them & leave LensCrafters with them.

Again, our bank accounts have been hacked many times. You could validate my claims when a full investigation has been conducted on my behalf for violating my privacy & my son Brady's privacy.

We've had several unfortunate events surrounding us on a daily basis. The money stolen out of our checking accounts need to be deposited back into our checking accounts. I totally cringe when I think of why on any level that it would be legal?

Davis Vision systematic wrongful denial of benefits combined with non-existent customer service

They use a creative blend of wrongful/fraudulent benefit denials and non-existent customer service to avoid paying for any contact lens or glasses benefits for enrollees. I don't know a single coworker who has managed to get Davis to pay for anything except a vision exam every 24 months.

In August 2018 I received a vision exam, which was covered by Davis Vision. I attempted to buy contacts and was told by my eye doctor that I would have to pay out-of-pocket because I'd "already used my contacts benefit" (I hadn't) and that I needed to go call my insurer. After several days of struggling to speak to a real human on the phone they told me they could fix the issue with my contacts benefit, but that I'd still have to pay out of pocket because Davis only pays for contacts when you buy them as part of your appointment, not weeks later. When I said that this was outrageous and that the only reason I didn't buy contacts during my appointment was that Davis had messed up my coverage, the Davis representative agreed that the situation was outrageous but said it was above her paygrade, and gave me a reference number and told me to call back tomorrow. When I called back I was told that they don't use reference numbers. Oldest trick in the book! I ended up just paying out of pocket for my contacts because I couldn't be unable to see for the months it would take to try to get Davis to pay for it.

Today I went to get my prescription renewed, and after the exam I attempted to buy contacts. I was told that I can't use Davis to buy contacts or glasses because I already used my benefit in August 2018 (I did not, as my claims history on Davis proves) and that I could either come back in August 2020 or call Davis to get things sorted out. I spent the past hour on the phone trying, without success, to speak to a real human being. Needless to say, I recognize the pattern here, and I don't really expect I'll be able to get just about anything covered or reimbursed by Davis as long as I work for NY State.

Davis Vision cheap cheap glasses/frames for top dollar

I've never paid so much money for a subpar pair of plastic frames and lenses. I received these from Delaware Eye Center in Smyrna, DE through my Davis Vision Insurance. I usually go to eyebuydirect.com amd pay anywhere from $35-100 for frames amd lenses. They have never broken and these are metal frames.
The ones i got through Davis Vision, I paid $265.00! Yes! Crazy right! I've had problems since the first week I picked these up. I picked them up in February. A week after I had to have the arms tightened up. Constantly having to clean the lenses. Worse than any pair of glasses I have ever purchased, which is many. The frames literally cracked and broke in April. I am a very very busy Insurance professional also raising 2 yr and 5 yr grand daughters. I wound up just wearing a 6 yr old pair from eyebuydirect. They were lost this summer in the ocean🤦‍♀️ I went back to the Delaware Eye Ctr. And they told me davis vision would replace both the frames and lenses. I was called a couple days later being told oh no, they will only replace the frames. A 2-4 week wait I was told before they come in. I was a seminar I was giving (detrimental to my income) I am standing there talking, already feeling like a fool with my taped glasses and i hear pop! The frames snapped in yet another place and the lens fell right out on the floor, with over 100 people staring directly at me😬 I could not be more displeased than I am with Davis Vision. These scam artists are selling dollar store glasses at a 265% Mark up!😡🤬 Absolutely horrible insurance!

Davis Vision customer service

My company uses Davis Vision (so I have to use them for now) but I have been paying for insurance with them for 4 months, and this company is so cheap, they never sent me an Insurance card. When I called, the female was nice, but not very knowledgeable. I was trying to print off a temporary card until mine came in (7-10 business days, but I needed this card for a doctors appointment the following Monday) but she was unable to assist me, she stated that the website was experiencing problems at the time. I asked for her to have a manger call me back, gave her my cell #, but no manager called me. I called Saturday and got Nathan (not a very polite young man, he kept yelling and raising his voice at me, when I asked to speak with a manager) him and I got no where at all, yet again he kept telling me that he could assist me, but once again, there were error problems with their website. Still needed the card for the appointment, still haven't received it in the mail. I asked to speak with a manager, but once again they were too busy to speak with me, and I would have to wait. I gave him my number, and asked if the manager would call me back, he said they will call me Monday. (REALLY? This was in the morning mind you...) Before I hang up with him, I asked why I didn't get a call from the manager the prior week, he stated that the women I spoke with, noted that we were disconnected. NOT TRUE! LIES! This has been the MOST difficult company to work with and to get an insurance card from. Nathan kept telling me I do not need one, I can just walk into the doctors office and hand them a piece of paper with the membership number on it. HOW UNPROFESSIONAL, GHETTO DOES THAT SOUND? I have been paying for insurance since April 2019, it is now almost September 2019, and no card? This company cannot AFFORD a piece of plastic? I will be recommending to my employer, another company to use.

Davis Vision quality issues

This insurance company is a joke. My eye doctor is great. You pay her $40 for her to spend an hour and a half to see that I am healthy. Then this insurance company makes members choose from crappy frames. That are then ordered through a davis vision lab where they produce low quality lenses and then give bad customer service to the office when there is a problem with the frame or lens. This again is a joke. People complain about lenses being so expensive, first of all its your eyes! secondly, you get what you pay for! dont blame the eye doctor office, blame, your insurance company, crappy davis vision.

I have had terrible experience dealing with this company. They have failed to process claims, missed sending checks, said checks were lost in the mail, then said they were cashed, ...

The list goes on and on. Customer service reps are unable to help. The supervisor never picks up.

I need computer glasses in order to be able to do my work. Davis Vision has made the prescription wrong twice. I have been waiting 4 weeks now for the 3rd try to be delivered to my eye doctor. They have called me twice to say they should arrive in 2-3 business days. Still no glasses. Somebody in my organization must be getting a huge kickback on this progam.

I ordered my glasses over two months ago and Davis Vision has yet to produce them. These cost me early $300 and I still don't have them. I'm writing this to warn others about this company. Don't deal with them. When you try to call them they place you on hold for at least 40 minutes.

Davis Vision bad glasses, awful customer service

On Nov. 4, I visited my optometrist, Dr. Julie Marvin-Manders at Manchester Eye Care. I have been seeing her for at least eight years, including all of the time that I have had Davis Vision coverage. I primarily wear contact lenses, but had decided this year to get a pair of glasses made; since I rarely wear my glasses and my prescription doesn't change much, I only do this every few years. I am severely nearsighted, so I opted for a high-index lens so that my glasses would not be too thick. The staff at Manchester Eye Care called Davis Vision while I was there to see what the highest index lens they could make was, and what guidelines they might have for me in selecting frames. They determined that the Davis lab could do a certain level of high-index lens, which would actually give me thinner glasses than I currently had, if I selected a frame that was not too big. I selected the frame and placed my order. I had to pay $165 out of pocket at that time, because the high-index lens is not covered, plus I opted for an anti-glare coating and progressive bifocals. I was told that the glasses would take 7-10 days, since the high-index lenses were more time consuming. (Typically, my kids and husband get their glasses - made by Davis - within a week.)

On November 18, I called Manchester Eye Care to see what the status of my glasses was. After calling Davis vision, the staff person called me back and said they would probably be shipped Monday and I would get them before Thanksgiving. They did not come in then.

On November 29, I called Manchester Eye Care, and the staff called Davis again, and then called me back. This time, they were told that my glasses needed to be sent out by the Davis lab to another lab, and they had no idea when they would be done. I was not pleased and asked for a number to contact Davis myself. I called and spoke with a rep, who said exactly the same thing. He told me Davis had no way of knowing when the lab they contracted with would complete the glasses.

December 6, I received a call from Manchester Eye Care. Their staff had followed up with Davis to check on my glasses. This time, they were told that there was a problem with the order, and it had to be restarted. They were told that it would be at least another two weeks. The Manchester Eye Care person told me she had placed a call to her Davis Vision rep to complain and advised me to see if I could get any help through the University. We agreed that this level of service was atrocious.

Mysteriously, on December 9, my glasses arrived at Manchester Eye Care. When I saw the glasses Davis had sent, I told them I would not accept them and wanted my money back. One lens is huge, the edges are not polished, and the lenses are not even set in evenly. (See photos.) When the staff person called Davis Vision, she was told that their lab did not understand that BOTH lenses should be high index; they made them with one high-index and one not. Davis also alleged that they did not know that the edges should be polished. (The staff person gave me a copy of what they sent to Davis, which I have scanned and am attaching here. It clearly shows that both lenses should be high-index - which I paid for - and that the edges should be polished. It also shows that there is a minute difference in prescription between my two eyes, which clearly indicates that the two lenses SHOULD appear equal in size.)

The Davis rep then refused to allow the glasses to be returned; they would remake them, but that was it. When I purchased them, I was told that I could return them within 30 days, with no questions asked. The Manchester Eye Care staff says this has been the policy with Davis in the past, and they were not aware it had changed.

When I protested, the Manchester Eye Care staff person talked to Dr. Marvin-Manders, who agreed with me that the glasses should be returned since they were made incorrectly. The staff person was still on the phone with the Davis rep. When the staff person explained that both the doctor and I questioned the "no return" policy, the Davis rep said that not only could the glasses not be returned, but also that I cannot use my benefit this year for anything else, such as toward contacts. They said I could return the glasses, but I would be out $165, plus I would be unable to get any benefit this year from my vision policy.

If Davis is, as it appears, unable to make acceptable glasses for people who are severely nearsighted, that should be noted when people sign up for the vision insurance. It makes the coverage useless for me. Let me be clear, too, that what I want is NOT impossible. I had glasses made by Manchester Eye Care's lab in 2003 that are wonderful, and I have had several perfectly good pairs made by Lenscrafters. While my prescription probably does increase the difficulty of the process, other labs have done an excellent job in the past. Especially after a five-week wait, I would think Davis Vision could do the job. But if they can't, I think they should just be honest about it - and refund my money and let me use my benefits for something they CAN do right, namely contact lenses.

At this point, all I want from Davis is my $165 back, plus the ability to use my annual benefit toward contacts, since Davis was unable to make my glasses correctly. These glasses clearly have manufacturing defects, so I should not have to pay for them OR lose my benefits for this year.

I am waiting for my 5'th pair of glasses through Davis vision . The Davis Vision lab in Texas made the first 4 pair and they all had to be returned. It is almost as if they don't know how to cut lenses or install them in a frame. There were huge gaps, a screw loose and stripped and lenses that were way to thick, looked terrible. I called and insisted the optician be paid to use their own lab to make the final pair. Don't use Davis Vision if you can possibly help it and if you have to, ask the optician if they can use their own lab. I paid $105 out of pocket to get decent frames and 6 weeks, 12 visits and 12 hours later I am still sitting here without a good set of glasses. I sat for 3 hours at Crappy Visionworks, got abused there, cancelled order and went to a family run business in Delmar where they were nice enough to help me.

I didnt like the selection of frames Davis Offered, so I decided to purchase my own. Had exam, got prescription and my frames were sent to lab to have prescription filled. 2 weeks later I received glasses and there were chunks of the frame missing ( Tom Ford Plastic Frames) around the lense area on the inside.. Associate called Davis and was told that they would replace frame and it would probably take 7-10 days. I purchased my own frames because this was a brand that Davis Nor the Eyeglass Dr Carried. 5 weeks later I called the Dr to find out status, They called Davis Again and was told that they could not get the frame, But would substitute one for free. I advised that was not acceptable and wanted a mgr to contact me. was told that Mgr would contact. 7 days later I called Davis to find out why I had not been contacted. Was told that Mgr would be calling me that day. 2 days later called again to find out where my call was. Spoke with Supervisor who wanted me to fax in receipt of original purchase of Damaged Frames. Faxed that same day within the hour. Called next day to find out if fax had been received. Was told they would email dept and call me back before day was over. 3 days later Called back to address why I had not been called back and to see if fax had been received. Was transferred to supervisor, he wanted fax again. Faxed. received callback 4 days later confirming recpt of fax. Was told that would be submitted for reimbursement. it has not been an additional Month and I was told check was mailed 3 weeks ago when I call into customer service. and to give it another week before calling to have check reissued..

I live in ma I thought they would want to protect the consumer.

I also am one of the unlucky people to be stuck with Davis Vision as my provider. First when I went in to get my eyes examined or new glasses I was told that my glasses would arrive in 2 weeks in two weeks I called to see if my glasses sad arrived at the clinic and they had not. So I waited another week and I called and still no response so I waited another week and I called and I was told that Davis shipped them broken and that they had been returned to Davis. So being that it took 4 weeks to get this far I waited two more weeks and called again. Only to be told that they were having trouble with my glasses at the lab and it was going to be three more weeks by now I'm getting very irritated and I waited three more weeks and called and the clinic called Davis and they said it would be two more weeks. So pretty much after 11 weeks I got my glasses and then like an [censor] I sent my Nike frames in to get new lenses put in those and those were my sunglasses. So then I wait 3 weeks and I called the clinic to check on my glasses and they told me that the previous day Davis had called them to let them know that they had destroyed my frames trying to put the lenses in so now I am out my Nike frames this was 3 days ago so I don't have it yet but I do have a suggestion if you have insurance that requires Davis Vision just pay for it out of your own pocket you will get way less grief and it will end up being cheaper in the long run!

with. Now for some reason her glasses have scratch marks in them. She takes care of everything she has
and has never dropped or ran into anything to scratch her glasses. Only thing I can think of is that the solution
thats suppose to clean the glasses ruined the lends. She never cleaned them with anything else
Anyone else have this problem?

I am extremely dissatisfied with the service from Davis Vision labs regarding my frames and prescription. No order should take in excess of a month to fulfill correctly. My order has now been sent back twice because of the inexperience/ineptness of the lab and poor quality assurance and inspection prior to sending out to the patient. The first time was due to the prescription measurements being ignored. The second time was due to the wrong lense shape and without holes drilled for placement in my glasses. And due to Davis Vision mistakes and delays, I'm not permitted my money back. That's theft. My money was not paid to Davis Vision to get everything wrong. The reasons my order was sent back had nothing to do with me, but everything to do with Davis Vision and its incompetence and lack of attention to detail. I think there’s malpractice in something like that. The way its payment policy is set up guarantees they keep the money but don't really have to hone your skills or produce a professional product. A reputation will either make a business or kill it.
Rest assured, that along with this negative review on the Davis Vision website, there will be other negative reviews online for the public to see regarding this provider.
The Texas location was bragged up quite a bit but I see that was hype and wishful thinking. Perhaps Eye Professionals will decide not renew contracts with Davis Vision because their reputations are also on the line for what is produced. I know my eye doctor had done so for these very same reasons. He wants nothing to do with Davis Vision services.
It would be one thing to be a reputable lab and have a stringent refund policy, but Davis Vision makes it a practice of keeping funds and delivering poor quality. Davis Vision needs to be pushed out of business. Hopefully, it will get its act together and become a reputable supplier, but not before I choose another provider once open enrollment comes around in a couple of months. At that time, I will be going back to VSP. The Marketing and Customer Service departments can only do so much. The proof of business integrity and reliability comes with the ability to deliver quality products on time. Davis Vision has proven none of those things.

I will never ever purchase glasses from any Davis vision doctor or lab. They remade my glasses 5 times after their doctors screwed up the rx 4 times. I picked up the glasses from the 5th remake this morning and they are still wrong. I never had this problem with my vap Doctor. I'm going back to my other Doctor to have him fix this even though I don't have vap anymore. Btw Davis will not remake them again and I say good I don't want you too.
