Read full review of Fidelity Information Corporationallowed gay stalker to file false and unvalidated account and charges
Fidelity Information Corp apparently allowed an individual to file a false account and an amount owed.l. Fidelity cannot provide validation of any monies owed or that an account with the individual was ever opened by me.
The name on the account is from a gay stalker whom has texted emailed me and wife lewd sexual content while demanding money to stop electronically delivered messages! We have had to send documents to the FBI and Local Mississippi Police. Now this individual has created a fake account I supposedly had with him and has given an amount owed to Fidelity Information Corp, of which shows on my credit report. Fidelity has yet to provide documents of any account I supposedly had with this malicious and vile stalker.
Intentionally Violating Federal Financial Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)
On February 21, 2016, I filed a complaint to Texas DA Office and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau about the violation of Fidelity Information Corporation. The complaint is as follows:
I'm filing this complaint with your agency to implore your help to investigate the violation of the Federal Financial Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) of the debt collection organization, Fidelity Information Corp. From my story below and the evidence attached, it is proven beyond any doubt that Fidelity Information Corp has clearly and intentionally violated FCRA by:
• Inaccurately inflated the disputed amount to 20 times (from $71.40 to $1, 321.40)
• When I contacted them and sent them the explanation and evidence that I did not owe its client any money, not only did they not bother to reply to me, they also reported me to two Credit Bureau agencies (Experian and Equifax) with the inflated amount.
• When I contacted them the 2nd time by phone, the lady at Fidelity Information Corp (Sandra at extension 420) admitted that the amount was only $71.40 and promised to send me a breakout within five business days, but nothing was sent.
• When I contacted them the 3rd time via certified letter to ask for a breakout on my account three weeks ago, I have still not heard from them.
• When I disputed my claim with the Credit Bureau (Experian) with proofing documents 3 times, every time the credit bureau sent the disputed evidence to Fidelity Information Corp. for review and they advised the Credit Bureau to remain the negative credit on my report. I called Experian and asked them why they did not look at the evidence I submitted to them. The response was that the bureau would trust the collection services more than an individual because the collection service was required by law to report accurately. In this case it is not.
What Fidelity Information Corp has done to me, it has certainly done to other consumers. Therefore, I implore your help to investigate and stop this collector from abusing its power and acting outside the law to protect consumers.
Regards,
Story:
In June 2015, I signed up for one year alarm monitor service with A.S. Alarm Services for $71.40 ($5.95/month) as advertised. However, I was charged $125.35 with hidden fees. When I contacted the technician at AS Alarm to get assistance to connect my house alarm to the company monitoring line, the tech indicated to me that to connect I must have a phone jack outlet by the alarm panel, which was never required by previous alarm monitoring companies. I didn't know what to do as it was almost impossible for me to fulfill the requirement. Then, the AS Alarm Services made unauthorized charge of $99.00 to my credit card in addition to a one year pre-paid fee while my connection has not been even connected and not ready for monitoring.
I immediately contacted the company and inquired about the unknown charge. The customer service was not able to offer any reason besides a suggestion that it would be returned in two weeks if I cancel the service. I canceled the service that day and waited for two weeks but no refunds were given. I filed a dispute with Chase bank. Immediately, the bank gave me a temporary credit while they investigated the charge with the merchant. About two months later, I received letters from the bank which stated that the full credit has been reinstated to my account as the investigation has been completed.
Later I received an email from AS Alarm service attempting to collect $71.40 citing that I violated the contract. I never signed any contract with them. On the invoice where the amount $71.40 was listed, it clearly stated that “ … CANCEL ANYTIME BASIC MONITORING SERVICE …”. This meant to me that I should get a full refund upon cancellation when the monitoring had not started. In addition, the merchant failed the investigation from Chase bank. During the investigation from the bank, the merchant was given two months to respond, but it chose not to do so. I have letters from the bank as a result of the investigation provided in my documentation.
On 10/02/2015, I received a bill from Fidelity Information Corp to collect $1, 321.40 on behalf of its client AS Alarm Services. I sent a letter to the collection service to explain that I did not owe any money along with proofing documentations. Fidelity did not reply to me, instead it reported me to the two credit bureau agencies, which has caused me lots of headache and financial distresses.
On 01/08/2016, I called Fidelity and spoke to Sandra at Ext. 420 and inquired about my account. On the phone, Sandra admitted that the balance was $71.40 and not $1, 321.40 and promised to send me a breakout within five business days. I'm sure the conversation was auto recorded by Fidelity as I was warned before being connected; however, nothing was ever received.
On 01/29/2016, I sent Fidelity a certified letter and requested for the breakout of my balance and I have not heard from them.
They kept my $1200.00 and say i owe them $2448.00
Account number is D146958N1 ... I moved out of this apartment I believe April
2006 my apt was in great condition when I moved out one of
the rooms was never even slept in within the year that we lived there. I
recently pulled my credit report and saw this company on there so I
disputed the issue FIC verified that this was in fact my account. I had a
$1200.00 Deposit that was never returned to me and upon moving out
I told the manager that I was moving to Louisiana, she informed me that she
would send me my deposit there. I contacted these people twice
before calling them yesterday and that was a month and a half after I moved out
regarding my deposit I was told it was' not ready yet and to
give a call back in two weeks. I called two weeks later and the manager told me
they didn owe me anything and hung up the phone in my face.
My husband at the time told me to just let them keep the $1200.00 deposit
because we would have to come back to Kern county to press the
issue and because we were out of state it just made more since to let it go. I
now have them on my credit as owing $1, 726 and I am just
finding out about this. I pulled up multiple articles on Google of people
stating valley springs kept their deposit and they have just been getting
away with this fraudulent act for years.
THE WORST OF IT ALL IS THAT THEY SAY THEY HAVE A JUDGMENT AGAINST ME BUT I WAS NEVER SERVED OR CONTACTED IN ANY WAY...PERJURY

Do not deal with them
My own initial problem was more with Experian than FIC, since it was their clerical screw-up that started the problem-- they apparently confused my name/address with another person in the same city who has a similar name & address; causing an "account" with FIC to suddenly appear on my credit report… and they then compounded this by filing a "fraud dispute" rather than a "mixed identity dispute" (their terms) when I wrote them to complain.
The problem I've got with FIC is their total lack of cooperation in straightening out the issue! Not only did they not provide any clarifying information to Experian other than "confirming" my name and address (which they now had on file thanks to my initial call to them), but the attitude of EVERY person from their company that I've dealt with has been exceedingly rude, dismissive, uncooperative, lazy, and frankly, flat-out arrogant.
Their "solution" to any query is simply that the caller must send in an extensive dispute, in writing, to them requiring a lot of VERY personal information, including SS#, etc. Even if you don't have (or want) an account with them, they insist on getting as much about you as possible, and won't even talk to you otherwise. Any attempt to escalate to a supervisor, request further information, explain the situation, etc., is met with a complete stone wall… and indeed they won't even let you complete a sentence, opting instead to "take control" of the call by rudely cutting you off and repeating the same crap, over and over.
Only one of the three people I dealt with (different calls and departments) would even give me their name, let alone any real assistance. Their whole purpose, it seems, is merely to intimidate callers, dismiss and divert any complaints or problems, and convince a caller that it is completely up to them to "prove" the validity of their case, rather than acknowledging any responsibility whatsoever for FIC to be accurate, fair, or even polite.
This is completely consistent with the descriptions given by other complainers on several complaint sites, and no amount of copy/pasted "false allegations made" statements and fake "updates" by FIC drones will change this.
All I can say is thank God I don't have to do any real business with these creeps! If you have ANY choice in the matter at all-- DON'T DEAL WITH THEM. There have got to be better, more legitimate alternatives out there, somewhere…
I requested a withdrawal form my 401K on 09/26/2019. I did the transaction online and verified it the next day. Normal turnaround is 5 to 7 business days. I called last on 10/04/2019 and they said I would have the check by Monday the 7th. I did not get it and called again on the 8th. The representative said he would cancel the original check, issue me a new check and waive the UPS express service of $25.00. It would go out Wednesday and I would receive it on 10/11/19. Still have not received it and they said there was another waiting period of 24 hours before it could be sent. Now they say it will not leave their offices until today and I would not receive it until 10/16/19, three weeks from the time I initiated the withdrawal, due to 10/14/19 being a holiday. I had a payment that was due and needed that money to make the payment on time which was today. I asked them to overnight it but they said it was not their policy. They totally screwed up, admit it, and won't due a damn thing about it. For everyone who sent in complaints you are all right. Fidelity does not give a flying f*#^* about anyone except themselves. As long as they can make their money anyway they can legal or anyway else, they do not give a damn about their customers. Do not use Fidelity if you can help it.
Fidelity's idea of confirming the validity of a debt is to simply ask the person making the claim if it's valid. Of course the person says it is. FIC doesn't seem to require any sort of documentation to back up someone's claim. The person who is trying to scam me out of some money they are not owed has nothing to substantiate this false claim. Companies like FIC openly allow anyone who comes along to commit what I term "legalized extortion" Don't want to pay the bogus claim? No problem, they will just trash your credit by placing a derogatory entry on your credit report for a collection that is totally false and has had no verification to FIC other than the claimants word that it is legit. That's it. Just their word is all that's needed even if they are lying through their teeth. No verification needed whatsoever.
Following that ridiculous line of reasoning the next time a friend, neighbor or co-worker pisses you off simply file a false claim against them for a debt they never owed you. FCI will send them a letter demanding payment. When your target blows them off by writing them a letter telling them it's not a real deal debt, FCI will simply tell that person that sure it's a real debt because the person who filed it says it is. Of course they still aren't going to pay a fake debt so FCI takes punitive action and follows through on their extortion attempt with the CRA acting as willing accomplices by not requiring proof that a debt is legitimate before allowing the derogatory mark to be placed on ones' credit report.
There has to be safeguards put into place to keep this sort of thing from happening in the future otherwise our credit reports will just become a mockery and worthless since anyone from a disgruntled ex to the waiter you didn't tip enough can simply file a false claim knowing they can wreck your credit.
We need to make our voices heard to force changes in these very lax policies.
Robbie is a horrible customer service representative. He says he is a manager when you ask for one; really? Management would have a better attitude, certainly. Management won't belittle you and tell you you are a ### over the phone. How does it feel to have so much negativity around you at work, Robbie? Do you sleep?
Yes! I hired FIC to collect money from a tenat who owed backed rent, so I was the customer! I called and "Robbie" answered. I was doubled billed but he would make no effort to correct the problem. I asked for his last name and the coward wouldn't give it. I then asked to speak with his manager and he said he was the manager. And just to repeat I called as the customer and thought this would be an easy fix but it turned into a big to-do because Robbie and it sounds like the company are both pieces of "S*#T".
Fidelity Information Corp. is the worst. They need to be EXPOSED. Karen Gold (if that is her real name) is an absolute parasite. This rep is exceedingly rude, commission fee hungry and, ignorant. It is proven I owe nothing. Why continue to harass?! I'm reporting them to BBB. This place has FRAUD written all over it! All drones working for FIC need to be held accountable for their wrong doings...

I ordered this and sent it back but I'm still being charged and with interest.

Robbie is no help! They won't even give you a last name or let you speak to management. They say they are the managers. Really, I just think there are maybe like three little drones sitting at computers pushing accounts and phone numbers waiting for an idiot to bite. Karma is a harsh mistress, Robbie. I hope you sleep well.
*News Flash* Robbie FIC is the lowest of the low. Every agent is down right rude, unprofessional and wrong and strong! You don't alleviate issues by intimidation and scare tactic's!
I invite you to call 800.501.8085 and ask for me, Robbie, I am the collection manager of Fidelity Information. If you do have an issue I would be glad to assist you with it.
