manager threatened to take me outside and he revoked my membership card
3 weeks ago the manager was yelling to have everyone leave at the close of day. I asked him not to yell because it was demeaning. He threatened to take me out side and have a man to man talk to me and revoke my membership or I should shut up.
3 weeks later after i finish my workout and the gym is closing - he brings a security guard from outside inside the locker room to force me to hand over my membership card or have me arrested.
This manager clearly has issues. and threatened to beat me. not cool at all.

terrible customer service!!!
Golds gym owes me $100.00 because they have currently debited 2 months worth of payments out of my account when I cancelled my account 3 months ago. They are rude, the don't return calls, and no one there will take responsibility for their poor actions. Every manager, customer care manager I have spoken to just passes the blaim off onto someone else. They renewed my contract for another year after I had cancelled it and blamed it on their computers. Pathetic!
Never go to golds gym!

Please please please DON'T JOIN Gold's Gym. I was totally sucked in by the appearance of the place, but I definitely know better now. Also month to month, no contract, cancel at anytime is also very misleading. I was never given a copy of a contract that I signed and assumed that none existed since there was "no contract." Also there is a $25/per person gym improvement fee that I was not told about (again since I was never given a copy of my contract). If you do join, always pay in full. NEVER let them have access to your bank information, because they will help themselves to your money and tell you it was some sort of fee. And don't even think about trying to get any of your money back. I spent forever on the phone with corporate customer service speaking to someone who was only trained to say "I'm sorry you feel that way."
rude service, horrible trainers
Don't bother signing up a membership at this place. ALL the workers are rude, even "elitest" I would say. They think they're better than their clients and treat them that way. From the entrance, any of the male trainers or representatives will treat you like you're lesser than them. If you're a newbie, don't sign up with the trainer. I've worked and...
Read full review of Gold's Gyman employee calling the police on a client for no reason
On Wednesday May 25th around 9:30 am, i Miguel Matute member of Gold's Gym gained access to the facility. I didn't have a Gold's Gym badge with me at the moment, so i started working when the front desk employee whose name is Josh called the Coral Gables Police Deparment on me. He stated that he called the law on me because i didn't check in. Police arrived to the gym and Josh told them that he didn't want me there no more. Im denouncing such action, something must be done inmediatly. I have been a member of Gold's Gym since 2005 and even worked for them. Josh knows me very well, and what he done to me is unacceptable and unprofessional. Im really disapointed, therefore that will open up the big question if i will continue to be a member of Gold's Gym. I even spoke to Chris who i think has an owner partnership, and he said to me that he could not get upset with Josh because he was doing his job. So, i guess it was okay and still fine for Josh to call the law on any client if they fail to check in.
He called the law on you because you didn't check in and you didn't have your Gold's Gym badge with you.
You broke the rules. You could not prove you were a member and you did not check in.
The rules are in place to protect the other clients from people who do not belong there.
Next time follow the rules.
ripping off elderly
My son was given a check by his 79 year old grandmother for 100$. It was to be used for Gold's Gym. My son was told he won a membership through Pizza Hut. After he spoke with an employee that I still can't get the name of, he was told he could pay when he came in to work out and the money would be used for the first and last month.
My mother has been ill and had a heart attack this past year. She is finding deductions from her checking account from her bank! Whom ever signed my son up, told him that money would NOT be deducted from her account. That was a lie. It is abuse of not only customers who trust what they are told by a business but it is elder abuse. They KNEW it was a grandparent.
I have tried to get it settled by the District General Manager who only yells at me over the phone and his boss who also is rude and yells on the phone.
My son said he DID NOT sign authorizing them to take money out and he trusted it wouldn't.
I am advocating for my mother as she is elderly and fragile. My son had moved to Texas last fall and didn't think he joined a membership becuase he won one supposidly. This is why he didn't cancell.
I want my 79 year old mother's money back in her account. I signed for the cancellation but after reading several complaints on the internet, I don't feel sure that the payments will stop coming out.
charging fees after contract ended
When I signed up at Golds Gym, I was offered a long list of bonuses including towel service, tanning minutes, a lock, gear, etc. and a 2 month cancellation policy. This person who sold me the membership left the company a few months after I signed up, and after he left, I was having a hard time receiving towel service, never received any buddy passes or gear, etc. I spoke to management about this after they were questioning my deal, and management agreed to honour everything I was promised. Finally received towel service after this, but never received the rest that was outstanding. After 3 years with the gym, and thousands spent on personal training, etc, I was moving and needed to cancel. I sent in the cancellation form in the mail (stupid policy by the way...i should be able to call or email a cancellation), and was told it was 3 months that I had to pay. I told them i was promised 2 months and that they called me and had agreed to that prior. Well, in the end they would not do anything about it...and ended up charging me 4 MONTHS after cancellation. No one would deal with me, management was "out of the country in Lebanon", etc. Absolutely unreal. I will never deal with Golds again after this, and if there is a joint law suit to recoup money, I will send in all of my evidence and join the pack to sue them.

Tess, this is the letter that I wrote to Gold's Gym 2 years ago about my contract, that Holly (I believe that was her name) said would be honoured. She held your position I believe then.
I cancelled with Jeff in September, meaning my last day should be November...3 months is December as Jeff says repeatedly in the emails I sent to you.
I really hate signing contracts, so the towel service, tanning and 2 month cancellation agreement were critical in getting me to sign on the spot without considering other gyms. I tried for a no month cancellation agreement, and we settled at 2 months in the end.
I have paid for years of membership and personal training, and tanning too.
When Jade left, everything I was promised went down the drain, this is why Gold's contacted me in February 2009 about it, and why I wrote this email to them.
This is why there are notes on my file or in the system about the towel service, and I would presume there is more if you look in the computers.
I really have invested a ton of time and energy into this, and I really hate that I have to. But I will fight for the things I was promised, because I did nothing wrong in any of this cancellation process.
Please refund the extra money taken out of my accounts, and let this process end.
Stephinie Geis
Thank you and have a nice day!
~Steph~

Hi,
My name is Stephinie Geis, and my card number is WEM6592.
I am writing cause I know my personal training plan will come up for renewal this March, and I wanted to give you notice that I would not like to renew it. I will purchase individual sessions with Diana when I can go.
Also, I have had some problems with my towel service. I was told to come in contact with you to discuss it. See, a year ago Jade struck a deal with me to get me to sign up at Golds Gym that very day and not consider other gyms.
My deal was: 2 month cancellation with no penalty, 2 small golds gym workout t-shirts, mall rate, buddy passes, 1 week tanning plus $20 in tanning certificates, a lock, a Golds Pink Hoodie, and complementary towel service. The towel service was the clencher, cause it was actually something I would use. This would come to $24 biweekly.
I never ever received any of the following: buddy passes, t-shirts, $20 tanning gift certificates and the hoodie. And I have always had to fight for my towel service since Jade left, or when he wasn't around.
I wanted to know if this could be corrected. Since I spent almost $3000 at Gold's this year alone...if it could be put on my card that I do have the complementary towel service. It is the least that can be done, so that I do not need to fight for the towels when I go...especially since I never received anything else (other than the lock) from my original sign-up package.
Thank you for your time,
Sincerely,
~Steph~

Hello Stephanie,
I am confused with your response, if I was not concern I wouldn’t even bothered answering you e-mails, but I patiently did. I believe in a customer-service sense, I have done my part.
Also, I did not accuse you of anything, I explained that there was no notice on the file, however I also explained that as you had it registered,
I would honour the receipt then perhaps I can do something to refund your money. At this point of time, I cannot do anything without documentation.
You are welcome to contact the Head Office by all means, that’s your prerogative. I will explain the same thing I already explained to you.
Thank you,
Tess

Tess, 3 months was December 18th, so indicated by the email by Jeff. You accused me of not even providing a letter, so your email is interesting.
I will be contacting head office and forwarding them all of my information and the email about my contract which should be on your records from 2008.
It is truly unbelievable how you treat your members.
Thank you and have a nice day!

Hello Stephanie,
As per my e-mail below, your notice was received on October 10th, as per our documentation nothing indicates in your contract that they waived the 91 days to 60 days. Hence, as already mentioned cancellation was supposed to be January 17, 2011, however conceded to cancel before the date indicated, hence it is now cancelled. Everything is in your ASF notes.
Unfortunately, unless you provide me some proof other than what I have on file, there is nothing else I can do.
Thanks,
Tess

Tess, I called Gold's gym, and no one has answered.
As you can note by Jeff's letter at the bottom dated OCTOBER 6, that he had received my letter before then about my cancellation.
This was indeed sent through registered mail.
Everything I have done is completely legal and in line with what I agreed to at the beginning of my contract.
I never received my buddy passes. I never received my shirts and vest either.
Now you are refusing me my 2 month termination agreement.
You are in violation of your own contract here, and it is unbelievable that you think you can do this.
3 months cancellation from when my letter was received is DECEMBER, the 2 months that I am supposed to have is NOVEMBER. January is completely illegal.
So once again, please PHONE me at 780-4**-**** and discuss when you will be SENDING ME BACK MY MONEY.
I would like to speak to a superior about this.
Stephinie Geis
Thank you and have a nice day!

Tess, I have sent the letter and it was received several months ago.
Call me before Monday evening to speak to me about this.
Refer to the response below from Jeff stating that he had everything in a line to end my agreement by the 18th. You are in violation of your own contract here.

Thank you and have a nice day!

Hello Stephanie,
With the documentation I have, your non-renewal should still be until January 17, 2011.
To avoid paying the cancellation fee of $199.00 + tax. Hence, all the dues that was taken out
Is in proper order. Likewise, I don’t believe you have sent the registered letter which is mandatory,
However I conceded on your e-mail to avoid unsatisfactory complaints.
At this point of time, I can only cancel your agreement, no refunds will be made.
Thank you.
Tess

Hello Tess,
I have been dealing with my cancellation at Gold's Gym for several months now. Jeff has been my main contact, but has not provided me with a solution. He has informed me that it is you that can make the decisions here.
When I signed up I negotiated a 2 month cancellation as part of my plan. This is why the 3 month cancellation is / was crossed out on my document. I wrote this on my appeal which should be on file as I was contacted about the promises that were made to me upon signing up, and I was told that everything I was promised would be fulfilled. This would be including the cancellation policy.
I do not know why someone has written at the bottom of my document, 3 months, as it was never discussed with me.
My Gold's Gym Membership then should have been terminated on November 18, not December 18.
Nothing has been done about this, and no one is contacting me about this.
I looked at my Visa yesterday, and I am STILL BEING CHARGED from Gold's, as money was taken out December 31 from my account.
I would like 3 payments returned to me, and for the automatic payment to be stopped for my account.
This is getting ridiculous, as I have called about this at least 5 times, and have emailed just as many times as well.
I expect that you will call me by Monday 10, at [protected] and make arrangements for the reimbursement of $66.15 to my credit card.
Otherwise I will be taking further action.

Hi Jeff,
Why was 91 days cancellation crossed off from the text then hand written in then again? It appears a mistake was made there cause the agreement Jade and I made was 2 months. This was also stated in the formal letter I had to submit after he left and the rest of his promises were not fullfilled. It was agreed upon at that point that all of Jade's promises on my committment would be honored even though he left them in a state. If you could check that, that would be great. I expect that this will be amended, as several aspects were never given to me (like buddy passes, gear, etc), and I had to write the appeal for towel service, etc.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.
Stephinie Geis

Good morning Stephinie,
I have just faxed you over your membership agreement.
The handwritten part of the agreement states 91 days cancellation notice is required. You paid your last bi-weekly upon sign up therefore only have 6 remaining payments.
Your current cancellation date is set for December 18th, 2010.
If you have any questions feel free to reply to this e-mail or call the gym at [protected]
Best of health.
Jeff

This is why I tell people to never ever give a gym your credit card or checking account number. They can and often will charge you forever! In perpetuity. If they require access to your account at their discretion in order to use their facility - just walk. They all do this junk. I got out of my "contract" because my credit card expired and the bank wouldn't honor their charges. Thank goodness for that.
Wait a minute. You didn't give them your credit card or checking account number, did you? Never do that. If a gym insists on either as a requirement for "joining" or otherwise using their facility, walk. Never ever give a gym your credit card or a personal check. Never. They can and will charge you in perpetuity.
shameful representation of gol'd gym
What a shameful representation of Gold's Gym International! First and foremost, be aware when you sign a contract at Gold's Gym Rosemere; there seems to be no fixed price for customers. Buyer be aware, monthly and weekly payment amounts don't come out the same. Don't accept the amount they quote you. You can negotiate. Furthermore, be careful if you pay by credit card. They will withdraw extra money! They don't explain all the hidden costs and when you try to get an issue resolved, it's frustrating.Nobody gives you a straight answer.
Next, although they have a number of trainers and floor personnel present, the gym equipment is not properly maintained. Machines are not properly greased, dumbbells are missing and some tv monitors on the cardio machines don't function.
Furthermore, the roof leaks. Their resolution: buckets! This is not a very safe.
Finally, the sauna, steam room and whirlpool often doesn't work. I paid a $59 maintenance fee for what?
When you complain to customer service, they don't seem very apologetic. Furthermore, the "VIP dressing room" is a crock. Just another way to collect money. Where is the family changing room with baby change tables?
Currently, the are doing some repairs in the pool area; however they should be more vigilant. Why the heck are they leaving the ladders around the pool area when our children have access to this zone? Does someone need to get hurt, so they can wake up? What a shame.

Ripmania GOLDS GYM well its costs GOLD to train there they pay and treat the good staff like crap. the owner wants to pay for nothing and take all your cash. this is not only a rip off for presonal training but a joke half the staff doesnt even have certifications the manager of the trainers is a zumba intructor doesnt have her pt certification but is also training people. better yet for 300 bucks you can have your nutrition plan worked out from another person who is not qualified or certified. I field a complaint with the consumer protection10 bucks for a towel is a huge rip off I agree when I forgot mine I politely asked for one the receptionist handed me one and then told me the price I was shocked I said Im not buying it just using it for my shower nope 10 bucks I laughed threw it back went to my car drove to WALMART bought a bigger towel for 6.49 went back and handed my receipt to the receptionist and told her to give that to the cheap ### owner and tell him 5 bucks is fair. as for the ladies in the other review they are truly doing thier best and when ownership the people who are supposed to be proud of this dont care and wont spend money to fix things and only want to collect the cash what can they do. sad thing is I heard the the owner is the son in law to the the owner of GOLDS GYM Canada so you would think since you father in law runs and operates the rights in Canada you would not rip off people and actually meet your members.>
Staff turn over is crazy trainers are in and out like crazy good thing the doors are automatic. open 2 years and what 3 "general managers"? the owner sits in his office and simply counts his money like Scrooge its a real shame and I'll never shower there again disgusting I dont think they pay staff to clean.
forgotten
Around the end of Feb/beginning of March I decided I wanted to do some personal training. I spoke with a trainer who was very personable, and I was very confident that he could get me into the shape I wanted to be in. There was a conflict with the package I wanted and payment, and we tried to work it out over the phone. He said he'd call me back the next morning (this was about a week later) so we could touch base on a different package. I didnt hear back from him until just yesterday, almost a month later, because I had decided a week ago to cancel my membership due to finances. I suppose he saw my cancellation information, and that was enough motivation to call me back. I have always had positive experiences with the Gold's staff, but I found that to be a little disappointing.

trainer
The week of Christmas in December 2010, I took a leave due to illness, after becoming a member of Golds Gym on September 15, 2010. I came down with the flu and was unable to go to the gym and train with Lovetta. In the beginning, our scheduled meeting time was set for 7:00 a.m. She never showed up until 7:20 a.m. three times per week. By being new with the program, I did not know any better than to go to the elliptical and start my warm up exercise for 20 minutes on my own without supervision. I saw other trainers working with their members from start to finish, but it never felt right with Lovetta.
Although I told her that I was having some serious problems with my legs and that they were very sore after doing the exercises she assigned to me: lunges, squats, using stability ball from one side of the gymn to the other (running), stability ball up and down benches, and the list goes on and on. As I shared with others how I was feeling, I was told that I should not be so sore except if she was taking me too fast.
One late evening in early November, Lovetta texted me to ask if she could work with me and a new client at the same time. I did not get the message until I arrived at the gym. I followed my normal routine and at 7:20 a.m. I went downstairs to find her working with the new client. She gave more attention to the new client than she did to me. She told me to walk up and down the stairs several times (by the gym). Then she asked me if I received her text message and whether I minded if she worked with the two of us. I told her actually I did mind, since I was a set appointment. I realized at that moment that she had been taking advantage of me by coming in at 7:20 a.m. (20 minutes after I had warmed up on my own) leaving me with only 40 minutes of exercise time. I told her that I was displeased and that I would give her a call and discuss a time where my fiancée’ at the time and I could come in and speak with her. We followed up with her on the following Saturday, December 4, 2010. She promised to adjust my time for the 20 minutes that she had cheated me out of since I first started with her.
I have not returned to the gym because I have been under the doctor’s care with a knee injury. I have been taking cortisone injections and getting therapy. In the meantime, in February I received a call from another trainer at Golds who indicated that I was assigned to him since Lovetta was let go. I am wondering why it took him so long to give me a call.
Since all of this has happened, I have gotten married and am unable to take advantage of the gym. Membership fees are still being taken out of my account, but I would like a refund on the remaining trainer fees that were paid.
I believe the injury that I received was as a result of her lack of experience as a trainer. I am 57 years old and believe she should have listened to me and paid attention to the signs that I was exemplifying during the training time. I am trying to get reimbursed for my remaining training time and stop monthly deductions from my bank account.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
avoid this place at all costs
My girl friend and I had signed up with Gold’s Gym. This was at the then new downtown location known as Eau Claire. We later did a membership transfer to Gold’s Gym location. Our memberships were always paid by visa and never late. After approximately half a year of doing the membership transfer to the more convenient location we got a notice for collection from a collection agency. This was for the amount of $2 dollars.
We didn’t get a call or a notice prior to the collection agency’s letter. The letter stated that if the $2 dollars wasn’t paid within 10 days that it may affect our credit. We immediately tried calling Gold’s Gym to resolve the issue. We were told by one associate that it was probably a “bad transfer”, and that we should contact Gold’s Gym’s Northland office. Apparently this was the head office for all of the Gold’s Gyms in Calgary.
We then tried to contact the accounts person at that location. It would seem that this person was unavailable at all the times that we would call or with another client. She doesn’t take messages or emails. The receptionist there also gave one excuse of, “she is training another employee so she may not get back to you right away.” The receptionist even told us to just pay the $2 dollars. We didn’t think this was fair because we didn’t do anything wrong.
Time was of the essence for us as we did not want our credit affected. We also tried emailing and calling the other Gold’s Gym locations. To date there has not been any return calls or emails. This person was supposedly the one person who could resolve our issue. Buying a home was the next thing on our minds. So I hope you can see where I’m going with this. Credit does impact us and this is why we’re so frustrated with the inner management of Gold’s Gym. I hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else and I’ll keep posting to see how this fans out. Let’s hope this hasn’t happened to you too.
Agreed!
I am experiencing the exact same issue right now!
instructor
One of the instructors at Gold's Gym is causing many problems with the people who pay to work out. Her name is Emily Burroughs. She has caused numerous people to leave Gold's Gym, Allentown, PA because of her inappropriate behavior. Furthermore, her 15 year old daughter comes to the gym late at night, dresses inappropriately, and dances in the aerobics room...
Read full review of Gold's Gym and 4 commentsmisleading sales people
It all started when I signed up in September for golds gym at a rate of 32 dollars a month with a year contract and a one time yearly fee $48. Then, not even a month later they drop there prices to $10 a month with no contract. That was the first blow. But I shook it off and thought oh well. After going for awhile (Nov. 8th) my wife and kids decided to sign up at the $10 a month price. Now the sales person who signed them up told her that with me as a referral, we could all be switched to one plan, and my contract would be null and void. We would all be at a rate of $10 per person, per month, with one yearly fee of $29 for our family. So we were all one happy family at this point. Fast forward to December and i go to work out and leave my children in there child care. I get done and find out my child has fallen off an exercise bike (cuz no one was watching him)and smashed his face, witch left some pretty significant bruising. I shook it off and thought no big deal three year old's are crazy. That was blow number two. The next day I go to check my bank acct. and find that golds gym has taken out three $29 dollar fees and a $48 (the price of my allegedly void contract) fee. One for each family member. So I call to get this fixed it obviously must be an error. I was told to call the Appleton gym and they would correct this. I called only to get a voice mail. So I went into the green bay gym and asked for the general manager. I was directed to someone named Eve? Who explained to me that I need to call the Appleton gym and they would take care of this she gave me two different numbers so I went outside to call them turns out one number goes nowhere and the other to the voice mail. At this point I am not happy at all being passed around. I went back in asked for the manager. I was now told she was busy and would call me if I like. I said no and demanded to talk to her. So now i'm waiting again! I see others signing up and decide to share with them how much I've really paid for the four months I've been there $426 with all there start up fees! This got the actual managers attention who was standing behind the counter the whole time. Which she then threatened to call security on me and have me thrown out. If I did it again. So i thought OK calm down, I'll talk to this person who's been avoiding me the whole time. turns out the general manager (Stephanie)is the sales person who mislead my wife into believing there pricing. She then took me aside and explained to me there is no such thing as being signed up as a family and theirs no way she could refund the fees. Then proceeded to lecture me on my attitude. So I told her it was because they were $crewing my bank acct. She then informed me that I have to give 30 days written notice of my gym cancellation and mail the cancellation form somewhere via certified letter! When I told her about my child smashing his face the only she could say is was an accident report filed. I then found out that there only required to have 1 adult per 13 children! At this point I was going to start yelling and decided to leave so I walked out. I have had no word since. All an all they promised one thing and did another. When I asked to rectify the situation I was passed along down the corporate line and was treated like a number. I had to act like an *** to get the managers attention who then threatens a already angry customer. GOLD's GYM green Bay has extermely poor customer service.
I was employed at the Gold's Gym Lakeline Austin Tx. After being treated like a dog for a year, not allowing me bathroom breaks, and breaks period
I decided to get out their abusive crap. Being a single mom that only made just over min.wage there I have to rely on benefits through the state. They required one last check stub to show, my income for Feb. We are not allowed to see them unless you access them online. They denied me that access, and everyone at the Gym and corp refused to get it for me.
Don't sign the agreement, they will overcharge you. The Customer Service is horrible ! You will talk to financial companies and they will call you day and night. Impossible to get out. I tried to cancel my membership. The reason was "I don't have time to exercise anymore" the reason and cancellation was NOT accepted. They will continue to charge you, even if you don't go. Don't sign. It's a fraud. The cancellation procedures are designed to waste time, so that they'll make more money collecting other months of payment. A month to review a cancellation request and then refuse it and ask you to do it again? They're just taking advantage of their Customers.
As many, my son signed a contract with Gold's Gym. After he enrolled the unemployeed lines he tried to cancel the contract without any luck, To prevent fees accumulating I interceded and covered what I expected it was owed. Also, I had his membership fees to start withdrawing from my checking account (nothing signed but a phone call since is there only way of business). After some five phone calls and three faxes, so far, I just got $320.00 withdrawn from my account. I can not get a bill breakdown and all I get is "that is what is owed". Within two months they have withdrawn $68 (2/8/10)+ $97(2/12/10) + $165(3/22/10) + $39(4/2/10) + $320(4/24/10) for a "couple" membership that is $39 a month each. I canot mathematical comprehend how two members can be charge $650 for two months.
misleading
I had to act like an jerk to get the managers attention who then threatens a already angry customer. GOLD's GYM green Bay has extermely poor customer service.
it absolutely amazes me how this company can get away with the crap and extortion they are pulling on the general public.i have reported the golds gym, near my place to the better buisiness bureau to no avail becaude they are not members of such a place.i have since fou nd numerous complaints about the stuff this company pulls with regards to overcharging people, charging them even though thier membership has been cancelled .this just blows my mind i wish someone would take these folks to court for all the money they have leached off the general public.
they will bump up your membership dues
I had been a member of Gold's Gym for 4 years paying an annual fee upfront to reduce the cost of membership. Then they came out with the $19.95 a month plan. You pay a around $300 up front but then $20 forever after that. I plan on being an active gym member for the rest of my life so this plan made sense especially since 24hour Fitness has a similar plan. Well, to make a long story short, after the first year, they bumped up my monthly payments anyway without giving me notice. When I called to complain to the general manager, I was told, "It's not my decision to make and it's out of my control." Then, I canceled my membership but they charged me for 4 months afterwards! They are total scammers. I would rather pay a little more than support unscrupulous business practices. It just encourages them when we continue to do business with them no matter what they do to us.

company policy and customer service
Golds Gym in market square Pittsburgh has horrible Customer Service. Not only did the sales representative lie and not cancel my membership and continued to charge my account for four months then they "froze" my membership and did not switch it over. So when I got another bill seven months later without a phone call or a letter, I got another person to sign...

They are practicing illegal billing activities and continued to bill me after I had signed the end of contract agreement. I joined in march and canceled in february plus the extra month they charge after the cancellation date there are 12 payments. They charged me an extra month in october 2010, after 8 months and no mail or email that will explain to me the situation. I wonder how many me there are out there. Golds gym at fairfax station, virginia. They should be ashamed of themselves. Watch... They'll be out of business soon... People are not stupid, please don't join gold's gym.

membership fees
Cancelled my membership in February. Continued to get billed the remainder of my contract through July, however I was not told that I would continue to be charged.
Although my membership was cancelled and I was still paying, I could've therefore been continuing to attend but they never notified me of this.
Then in July, I discovered that they charged me another membership fee including the Equpmnt Fee total charge of $45. I went into the gym and told them I have not been a member since Feb (as they showed). (This is when I was told that I had still been being charged due to fulfillment of contract although they discontinued my membership in Feb). They said that this was the last time I would be charged for any membership fees.
It is September and I just noticed that I was yet again charged for August and September!
If you get a membership with Gold's Gym in Ahwatukee, make sure you read the fine print. If you ever discontinue your membership you better make sure you get confirmation of discontinued ACH in WRITING.

terrible management
You cannot get in touch with anyone that can help you when you have a complaint! Told to speak to Marcel, then Gabriel, then Sean, then back to Gabriel. Then spoke to "Cip" who said to call Corporate who said to email someone else - what a JOKE! Been a member for 10 years and now a tough guy manager with short syndrome who harasses guys that are bigger than him cancelled my membership over carrying a gym bag! YES a gym bag in a gym - very crazy idea. These people are Not professional and have no idea about customer service let alone working out. Some Gold's are credible but the Henderson, NV one is NOT. The quality of management has gone right downhill.

complete entrapment
I am so beyond livid with gold's gym and have had nothing but problems with them as well. I am trying to cancel a tanning membership that Gold's Gym has the contract for. When I signed up I asked what the cancellation policy is which they told me was $100.00 and 30 day written notice. So to my ignorance did not bother to read the fine print. I was on automatic withdrawel which I never had a problem with until May (2010) they sent me a letter saying they couldn't process the payment for that month. so I faxed them my bank statement and proof of funds along with the cancellation notice. They told me that I could not cancel unless I joined the military or moved 25 miles away from any golds gym. I work in park city, UT and found a place in Kamas that is close to work and well over 25 miles away. So I again wrote them a letter of cancellation but didn't hear back from them. Less then a month later i faxed them again with the sublease agreement included with the cancellation notice. I again heard nothing. I received a letter today saying there patience is exhausted trying to reach me and are preparing to report to my local credit bureau and taking legal action to collect. I called Paramount Acceptance (who handles golds gym accounts) on the spot. I spoke to maybe the only decent employee and i explained that I had tried to handle this and that I faxed in the bank statement and he told me that it was a card issue. he told me the last for digits on the account and i said that was correct. He then asked me what the exp. date was and I told him 03/12 he told me they had 04/12. So why is it that for months it went through just fine and all of a sudden my info is wrong? Also on top of that I told him that no one has tried to contact me and he read me off my number which he said ended in 4821. I told him no its 1821. All of my faxes had my number on them so they cannot use the excuse that they couldn't contact me. It just so happens that both the numbers they had wrong were 4?! Seems to me that someone on the inside is tampering with peoples information to get there accounts delinquent and make you pay fees and more money... Also they are now saying that my cancellation request is denied because the sublease agreement is only for 6 months and it has to be a permanent place of residence. I am locked in regardless and this can't be legal! I also found out in april that I am pregnant and I can't even use the tanning pass bacuse it's a health risk and that still makes no difference. I can't afford the contract with the unexpected baby on the way. I can barely manage my bills... There has to be a way to make our voices so loud that Gold's Gym has to listen! The guy at the corporate office basically said that even if you physically can't use the pass its irrelevant and you have to pay out your contract. What the crap is that! Complete entrapment! I WILL NOT stop until my voice is heard!
marketing fraud
Beware of gold"s gym in fullerton, ca
A family member signed up for the new gold's gym in fullerton upon receiving a flier in the mail stating if you sign up by 8/31/2010 you can join for $0 dollars enrolement and $19 per month. The family member signed up before 8/31 and was charged $59 processing fee and $24 dollars a month fee.
We both went down to gold's and talked to one of there fast talking sales reps. He said you can get the $19 a month if you pay in full for two years at $659.00 their flyer does not state that it say's $0 enrolement.
Don't trust the flyer that is going out in the mail in no. Oc and gold's there flyer is very misleading, I even told the sales rep so and he agreed, and according to all of the other complaints on this board about gold's I would never join myself.
Now my family member has signed up for two years with out recourse. They will have to cancel there credit card at the end of 2 years, that was used for golds, so the membership will be canceled and they won't keep charging.

This gym is a joke. No one knows what they are talking about. I went to transfer my membership to another person. An employee helped us out, said the transfer was completed, gave my friend access to the gym facility, and told me I would no longer be charged. The next month, I am charged another month's payment. I call in, and they can't find the name of the employee who handled the transfer. Furthermore they tell me that the transfer never went through (and no one notified me of this). They say that my membership should have never been transferred in the first place. but obviously an employee there told me it was fine and supposedly took care of it. The manager there Sharon needs to learn how to be an actual manager. She never calls back, and has excuses for why she did not call back. She does not provide a resolution to anything. I need my membership cancelled and the monthly fee refunded but she can't seem to get it done nor does it seem like she is even trying. Spoke to another person there yesterday who also promised to get back to me, but never did. They accepted responsibility for this mistake yet they can't seem to correct the situation.
Carefull with this because they will keep charging you regardless of wether or not your card is current.i was charged for many months even though the card had declined because my wife and i had our account hacked.i never recieved a notice of insufficient funds or anything not even a phone call ...oh wait i did get one ...FROM A COLLECTION SERVICE!
