The Golds Gym has been closed since December 12 due to the government required lockdown, however they have been charging customers still eve though the service is not available. All my efforts to get them to suspend the payments until the service resumes has been ignored. They have not responded to my emails or calls and have conveniently made it so that they are either out of office or unable to answer the phone.

I & my wife have the membership for more than two years. Every time when they close the gym for Covid reason, they are still charging the membership. Because of Covid and we try to keep ourselves safe, I tried to call them and left messages to cancel our memberships, got no responses back from them. It's not fair to charge for the service which they never provided. We are frustrated and simply want to cancel our memberships for good.
Golds gym calgary has been the most unresponsive and most difficult business to deal with during this time. In early 2020 at the peak of 2020, Golds gym had put all accounts on hold because of the pandemic and all the gyms were closed due to the situation. They still charged a freezing fee unlike their competitors. My contract ends in Feb 2021 and I wanted to make sure that I would not be charged after that date. I later found out that golds has tacked on an extra couple months to my contract because of the freeze during Covid saying that it was their "policy". I've been transferred to 3 different emails and the support email seems to have mostly been unresponsive to my emails except for the first one. I'm essentially paying the freeze payments from 2020 + the additional extra months to my contract. When asked to cancel I will have to pay their cancellation fee which is 200+ because my contract has the extra months added (Which I knew nothing about and I'm sure other members of the...

HI I am a member of Gold's gym and during covid 19 first started the gym was closed and they still collected funds for the month's they were closed and I contacted them on several occasions but received no answer. They collected the amount of $54 bi-monthly for 5 months for services not rendered which equals to $500.00 +/-. I have spoken to the gym manager and he is claiming that it is contractual and not willing to return or apply to moving forward or simply returning the funds. I think this is unfair as I was not able to use the gym so why should funds be paid. I would to like to file an official complaint against them for what I believe is not respectable business practices.
A third party signed me up for a membership with this club without my consent. I have contacted them to request the cancellation of this unknown and unauthorized membership once I noticed the charges out of my account which started on Dec 19, 2019, they responded that the membership was tied to a contract and that I would be required to pay a cancellation fee of almost $300. After several attempts to have someone help me I finally decided to today to go in personally to try and explain the situation and get it resolved, I met with the Financial Advisor or Manager named ***, this person was absolutely of no help! to the contrary, he told that this wasn't their issue, that I needed to sue the person that had signed me up and take him to court, they only have a document with his signature signing me up for this membership, which they showed it to me and when I asked him to show me a document with my signature authorizing this person to sign me up he didn't know what to say, obviou...

They only have a document with his signature signing me up for this membership, which they showed to me. When I asked him to show me a document with my signature authorizing this person to sign me up, he didn't know what to say, obviously because that document does not exist. They are at fault here for allowing a person to sign another person up for a membership without even verifying if the two parties even know each other. Again, this so-called manager/advisor did not know what to say when I pointed this out. I have been charged $15.25 since Dec 19, 2019, then Jan 2, 2020, Jan 16, 2020, Jan 30, 2020, and so on. Then they even charged a freezing fee starting March, I believe due to Covid-19. To top it all off, today I received an invoice from a collections agency, I imagine on behalf of the gym, saying that I'm owing them $85.00.

We are being charged for personal training that we not only didn't ask for but explicitly said on multiple occasions we didn't want
We are being charged for personal training that we not only didn't ask for but explicitly said on multiple occasions we didn't want. Late last year, my husband and I decided to join Gold's Gym (Country Hills location). We each signed up for the premium membership package, nothing else. Of course, Gold's wants its members to sign up for personal training as well. That was something we were perhaps interested in, but definitely not looking to sign up for right away because we couldn't afford the extra costs. Gold's offers a free fitness assessment and one complementary personal training session when you sign up though, and both my husband and myself did one at separate times. At the end of the fitness assessment, that's when they make their pitch for the personal training. My husband told the woman (***) who did his up front, he wasn't interested. It was just too much money. She said okay, that's fine, but just to show him how much it would cost and to show what the payments ...

We have made numerous attempts to get in touch with Gold's Calgary to cancel our memberships
We have made numerous attempts to get in touch with Gold's Calgary to cancel our memberships. Phone calls, emails and social media messages have gone unanswered and/or were deleted by Gold's and the company that collects payments on their behalf has given us different advice with each call. We understand there is a cancellation fee. We are trying to ascertain the total amount owed as well as how to pay it. During our attempts to cancel, we have even learned that Gold's changed our contract end date without our consent nor knowledge. We understand that the global pandemic has been difficult for individuals and businesses alike however given their active social media presence as well as the fact that their voicemail box goes from full to room for messages proves someone is working. Furthermore, it is completely unreasonable that we cannot even give the contractually required 30 day notice because 1) no one will acknowledge the notice given and 2) the gym is not open. Unfortunately, gyms are not allowed to open until phase 3 of Alberta's pandemic re-opening plan. In the interim, we are stuck paying over $20/month in account fees to "keep our membership active" even though we have been trying to cancel since March 18th. We have been following up regularly with emails and voicemails. Nobody has responded.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
