Good Housekeeping Review of good housekeeping magazine's website and customer service

Good Housekeeping magazine has been a favorite of mine for years. I've cut down on my magazine subscriptions, but this is one of the three that I've kept. The website is decent, but it's not the best. If you have any issues with your subscription, such as subscription orders, subscription problems, or address changes, you can send an email to the website. The straightforward stuff is easy to do online, such as new subscriptions and gift subscriptions. I highly recommend doing these types of things online.

However, I have a problem with the way the website handles issues. You send an email, and you get a confirmation that your email was sent. But that's it. There is no follow-up, and it's impossible to discover whether your issue has been addressed or not because you are not contacted again. The biggest problem is that there is no phone number listed either in the magazine or on the website. If you dig on the internet, you can find that ***788 will get you a customer service rep in less than a minute.

In conclusion, I suggest using the website for orders, gift subscriptions, and address changes. But if you have any problems, save time and use the 800 number for customer service.

Good Housekeeping Kitchen automatic foaming soap dispenser

I purchased two automatic foaming soap dispenser from QVC. I received them around 6/20/23. They worked for about a month. I followed all directions. Worked great for a while then it stopped dispensing the soap. I tried recharging but it still not worked. I used Dial foaming soap. I really like the concept and GH products but they need to research more. What do I need to do to get replaements?

Desired outcome: I would like replacements however they need to work.

Good Housekeeping Subscription Renewals

I have repeatedly spoken with a customer service representative to stop automatically renewing my subscriptions. However, every year I receive billing statements for payment. I receive several magazines and even received a three for one opportunity that I previously accepted but I declined to renew. So now I'm getting the renewals for each of these separately, and being billed. Please discontinue this practice.

Desired outcome: I would like automatic renewals to be discontinued

Good Housekeeping charging for subscription renewal when I cancelled many months ago

I cancelled my subscription to Good Housekeeping many months ago due to the abundance of advertising and microscopic print in some articles. Now, my credit card (I had to change my number at the suggestion of my card company) has been charged for automatic renewal. I have sent two letters to the magazine office complaining about this and asking that they cancel this charge. I still will need to pay it by December 9, 2019 or it will reflect badly on my credit rating. This should not be that hard.

Good Housekeeping january 2019 issue "your favorite first ladies" poll.

Good Housekeeping Magazine
January 2019 issue "Your Favorite First Ladies" Poll.

Is this a joke?

Do your readers really think Melania Trump should be listed as the sixth most admired First Lady or is this a political scam?

Does Hearst Communications, Inc. condone this type of misinformation?

I don't believe it! I think your "Poll" is a sham!

I grew up believing that Good Housekeeping was on the "up and up", and could be trusted to give honest information to your readers. I no longer think that this is true!

You really expect me to believe this poll is the truth? That the majority of your readers think that Melania Trump is a better "First Lady" than Nancy Reagan, Hillary Clinton, Betty Ford or Rosalynn Carter?

I believe that this is really a case of pandering to the current administration. Free political advertising. The magazine staff who put this together should be ashamed!

Melania Trump's only claim to fame is plagiarizing Michelle Obama and repeating the many proven lies that the 'Donald' has told! Even "Her anti-bulling campaign" rings shallow when her husband is the one of the worst offenders.

He frequently uses Twitter to belittle people of proven honor and integrity, critics and rivals. Melania Trump has no concept of what she is saying and only reads the scripts supplied to her.

I now believe that your magazine is no more truthful than the "Gossip Rags" on the rack in the supermarket! It's time your magazine takes a hard look at itself and decided to tell the truth based on facts.

I believe that over two thirds of the country will agree with me when I say Melania Trump should have never been included with, or compared to, the other First Ladies on the list! She in no way measures up to any of them.

I will no longer put any faith in the Goodhousekeeping Seal of Approval! It appears that money and power corrupts even GH!

Disgusted and disillusioned,

J.E. Sandzik

Good Housekeeping good housekeeping magazine

In November of 2018, I received a Good Housekeeping magazine with a bill for $7.97. I ignored it thinking it was just outreach on the company's part as I never ordered this magazine. First, I don't read magazines and second, I'm not a 90 year old woman who would subscribe to Good Housekeeping. I then received a "final notice" of this bill at the end of November. I went online and found NUMEROUS complaints of this company doing the same thing to other people. So I call the company and wait over 20 minutes to talk to "John". He asks for my billing zip code, account number, last name, and street address. I refused to give him my street address. If they have my account and verified my zip and last name that's all the information they need. He insisted in order to cancel my bill he needed my street address. I told him no way as I was uncomfortable giving these charlatans any more of my personal information. I informed him that what this company is doing is mail fraud and that I will be reporting Good Housekeeping and him to the BBB and PA Attorney General, so he needed to cancel my bill immediately. I then hung up.

Good Housekeeping magazine

I entered 2 random sweepstakes and later that day got an email for a a year subscription for $7.97. I did not order the magazine, I'll be giving it back to the mail carrier. This is quite deceptive on the part of the company. I don't have any more "characters" to add. This is very simple. I'm being sent a magazine that I did not order and sent a bill for entering a sweepstake.

Good Housekeeping invoice for unsolicited magazine subscription

Below, is an email message I sent to Good Housekeeping Magazine's Customer Service:

"I just received an invoice for thirteen issues of a Good Housekeeping Magazine with an amount due of $8.53. It appears that this subscription was surreptitiously attached to a Good Housekeeping sweepstakes entry that I entered last week.
Oddly enough, last week I received another invoice via US mail. This one was for HGTV Magazine requesting $19.99. I didn't order HGTV Magazine; so on 9/11/18, I called Customer Service to request cancellation of that unsolicited subscription. Josh, in Customer Service, cancelled the subscription and issued confirmation #5210069.
I am requesting cancellation of 13 issues of Good Housekeeping for $8.53."

I am now waiting for their response.

Good Housekeeping magazine

Did not subscribe to this magazine and have received three issues. Please discontinue immediately. I have noticed there have been several complaints the same as mine against this company. This is very frustrating particularly when no number or email address can be found. I literally had to use a magnifying glass to find the New York, New York Editor address.

Note: The address below is the only one I can find in the magazine. I could not locate a phone number or email address.

Good Housekeeping billing

I paid my bill through my bank in November and it shows posted on 5 Dec 16. I just got a bill on 17 Dec 16 asking me to pay the bill. I went online to review my account and they don't show anything paid. I tried to send an email but that didn't work because I won't allow them to place an app on my computer. You can't contact them without this app and they don't list a phone number. I then went to cancellation and they have it set up so that you can't write a complaint as to why you are cancelling. I'm snail mailing their invoice back with a demand for a refund of my $34.97 that they had already cashed. This is not the first time they have messed up my billing, but it is the last. I'd like a refund to account [protected] to Hemet Ca.

Good Housekeeping renewal of gift subscription

I received a 2nd notice for payment of $7.97 for renewal of a gift to Debra Haldeman. The last time I wrote and let you know that I no longer wanted to continue that gift. I wasn't happy to know that I have been charged for the ongoing publications, I want them stopped immediately and want reimbursed for those issues. I am not sure why or how this happens but I do not intend to send any money until MY subscription is due. Your VERY prompt attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Michele M. Good Housekeeping sheets

I bought two complete queen sized sheets, Good Housekeeping brand, at Walmart. I liked the color, and trusted the Good Housekeeping brand. One year later, and I'm giving the sheets to charity. I hope they don't mind the quality. The threads seemed to pucker, making the fabric somewhat wavy, almost like seersucker. Very disappointed in Good Housekeeping. I was hoping it would be a well made product at a reasonable price, the way Martha Stewart products used to be at K-Mart. I've bought a set of Martha Stewart's sheets at Macy's to replace them--on clearance with a coupon, of course!

Good Housekeeping canceled, but gh took money from my acct.

I had canceled all of my subscriptions with Hurst Magazine, yet I am still getting billed and now have had $13.00 taken from my account without my permission. I've contacted them several times by email and still no results. I check my status it will say cancelled, buy then get an email bill.
I request that they refund my money, and stop all magazine subscriptions. I did not want auto renew and notified them more than a month ago.

Good Housekeeping scam billings

My 98 year old mother cannot see to read and so has not renewed her Good Housekeeping subscription. She is receiving threatening letters and invoices from Hearst Corporation Invoicing Bureau claiming that she ordered, requested to be billed later, and has not paid--and this is for a renewal whose date has not even come yet! She did not order a renewal, did not request delayed billing, and does not want a renewal. She also does not want any more threatening letters to upset her. We don't have a way of attaching proof photos requested below, but you can bet we have the photo-copies.

I clicked on a sweepstakes on HGTV/Good Housekeeping site which automatically subscribed me. I wrote to them immediately and told them I DID NOT subscribe. I have an email back from HGTV saying it was cancelled. Then I received an issue of Good Housekeeping and now GH has deducted $19.95 from my credit card without my authority. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB!

I've had problems with Hearst pubishing too. I subscribed to Oprah magazine for 1 year beginning August 2008. Before the 1 year subscription ran out, Hearst sent me renewal reminders. They had the nerve to send me something that said if I didn't tell them otherwise, they were assuming I intended to renew my subscription for another year. The Oprah magazines stopped coming after July, 2009, so I considered the matter dropped. At $2o per year, I just didn't find anything that interesting in the magazine, so I let the subscription die a natural death. I had prepaid it for 1 year, and never agreed verbally or in writing that I wished to renew the subscription for another year so I don't owe Heart Publishing anything. Still, they keep harassing me with "notices" that say I "agreed" to renew my subscription, and asking me for money. If I'd wanted to renew my subscription, I would have mailed a check for payment. Why is Hearst trying to strongarm me into buying a magazine I no longer want?

Good Housekeeping I didn't order it!

My wife forgot to un-tick a subscription box while entering a sweepstakes on their website and right away she got an e-mail thanking her for ordering the magazine.
For a month now we try to cancel the subscription through their website as there isn't any contact information anywhere (a contact link provided does not work).
We haven't received any issues of the magazine yet a collection agency send us a collection letter a few weeks after the mistake saying that we got a magazine send to us and now they demand the money.

There are two ways according to the website to cancel the subscription, the first I need a number for which I receive with my magazine, but since I haven't received one that way doesn't work for us.

The second way asks for the exact information as entered during the subscribing, but that simply says that there is no subscription with that information.

This magazine will exploit the limits of what is legal to get people to take their magazines.
Very disappointing for a magazine that seems to warn about scams and such.

Good Housekeeping discrimination!

WE received two "Professional Courtesy Discount Order Forms" for their magazine prescription. One was addressed to my husband for a discount of 77%, and one was addressed to me for a 67% discount... both the same order forms to the family. One was sent to our former address. I can't understand why my husband would be eligible for a higher discount than I would!

I received the Professional Courtesy Discount Order form at a rate of $10.00. I ordered it and enclosed a check in that amount.
Yesterday I received a Second Notice for the same thing at a rate of $7.97 at a higher discount than that which I previously had. The $10.00 check has been processed and accepted. What is the rationale here? If I had waited longer I would have been offered a cheaper rate? I am so disappointed in this type of marketing. I have yet to receive the magazine. Why don't we just forget the whole thing ... send me back my $10.00 and keep your magazine.
