Misleading practices and poor customer service – a cautionary experience
I recently had an extremely disappointing experience with this firm that highlights poor customer service and misleading business practices. The issue stemmed from a product listing that failed to include critical details, such as dimensions. Believing the item to be a reasonable size, I researched similar products online and used those dimensions as a reference. After traveling more than three hours to retrieve the item, I was shocked to find that it was significantly larger than expected. Upon realizing this, my wife and I immediately communicated in person with the local team, making it clear that we could not accept the item due to its size.
While on-site, we had a direct conversation with a company representative who assured us that they would ensure we would not be banned over this issue. During that discussion, we also made it explicitly clear that we were not requesting a refund, as we did not want to cause unnecessary inconvenience. We acknowledged the brief time spent assisting us in inspecting the unit and were simply looking for a reasonable resolution. Despite this, I later received a notice from their legal team stating that I was banned from using their services and was required to pay an additional fee.
Rather than handling the matter fairly and in line with the assurances given on-site, the company escalated the issue with legal threats and arbitrary penalties. Their actions demonstrate a complete disregard for fairness and integrity. The fact that they contradicted their own representative’s assurance only reinforces the lack of professionalism in their operations.
At this point, I refuse to waste more of my valuable time disputing this matter over $30, so I will pay the fee and accept the ban. However, I will ensure that my experience is shared so others can make informed decisions before doing business with this firm. I strongly caution anyone considering working with them, as their misleading practices and dishonest handling of issues demonstrate a lack of integrity and respect for their customers.
Recommendation: Poor Integrity - Scam - Do Not Use
Do not use liquidators on govdeals... Customer services are non existent
Scott Dacri
FYI Do NOT buy from a liquidity service on Gov Deals .
I have bought from orig Gov Deals county and state auctions with absolutely no problem.
Now they have loser companies selling on the platform...
RUN .
Latest auction unknowingly from a liquidity service and getting the big FU with waiting a month supposedly for titles on vehicles.
Paperwork not in hand for sales .
They take the money and then its tough [censored] wait for weeks .
DO NOT USE A LIQUIDATOR on the auction page .
Literally hung up on by the rep when i demnanded my titles after 2 weeks and refusal to overnight anything .../.. Keep waiting on proper documents
Run Run Run
Recommendation: RUN
It is the responsibility of the Govdeals buyer to check the sellers credentials before placing any bids. For any issues concerning such matters like title delays and general service complaints, please raise concerns with GovDeals support and keep notes of all communications. If there is a continuing delay then either file a claim with the payment solution used for the transaction or consider attorneys for uncompleted sales.

Brooksville, FL [protected] is the seller through govdeals, they lied completely through all of the details of the vehicle they knew this truck was in horrible shape! Told me I could take it up with govdeals and govdeals said take it up with the seller. They crooks and should be arrested. I spent 10k now it's going to take another 5k to make it run! It's [censored]!
Recommendation: Do not buy from govdeals
Thank god I read your post. I almost wanted to buy from them
GovDeals Complaints 13
No CSR common sense today.
Had been buying with GovDeals and its associated companies (ie, federal military sales) since 2006. Recently, GD has started hosting listings from shady businesses (in our case, towing and veh. repo) who are practicing questionable sales practices (a clear title in most states means either a title in the name of the seller, or court seizure documents), such as listing vehicles with "clear titles", yet the titles are still in the names of the people the vehicles were seized or repo'ed from. Our dispute was over shipping on a less than $100 total purchase. The seller posted a poorly worded listing, then refused to adhere to the terms, instead falsely claiming we demanded a refund of the purchase price, which we did not do. We considered the paid for items as a loss and suggested the seller donate them to charity. Our previous purchase was a 4X4 dually diesel Ford F350. GD locked our account and refused to back us up on the dispute. We are done with them. A loss of a 18 year customer who has spent over $100K. All over less than $100.
Claimed loss: Loss of account and reputation
Desired outcome: An apology for claiming we demanded any refund, which is untrue and flase.

Incorrect total of winning bid
Oct 12, 2023
Won an auction for a pickup in Alabama.
My final auto-bid was $2800, listing showed/I checked auto-bid. Bid immediately prior to mine was $2600. No further bids but my $2800. Final price should have been $2625. Buyer's certificate had $2800 plus fees.
This was on the new website platform they just implemented.
I made a call to GovDeals, not productive. Called Corporate, not productive, I was told it was possibly a straight bid item. I've never (in 15 years) had a straight bid item on the site.
I'm awaiting a callback from a corporate supervisor.
I'll update soon.
Seems like an error with the new site. If people are not paying attention, they're paying extra...
PJ
Desired outcome: It's only $175, but it's the principal. Regardless of outcome with GD, I'm probably going to contact the BBB.
Product description was not what item was
Item described was a dewatering roll off container.
We had called the administrator for more information as was described.
Administrator said it was as described but they desired to go a different route.
We requested the name on the side of the box as it was the company who built it. The photos they had didn’t show the name or contact.
The city administrator said he didn’t know what the company name was and would ask someone to check on it.
The bidding was closing the next day and received no response from the administrator.
There wasn’t any time to set up an inspection appointment as the item was ending soon.
There was another bidder who bid the item .
When we were able to inspect after we had paid with a bank check we contacted the company that built it. We found that the item was not a dewatering fill off container at all.
The administrator said the holes on the side at the bottom were actually air inlets where air is blown in to compost that is supposed to be put in container.
We want our money returned from Elmore ,Ohio and feel they should also pay for our time as it was wasted because of their mid labeling and false description .
Desired outcome: We want our money returned and compensated for our time dealing with this.

Highly recommended, but caution will not hurt.

anti customer policies
So all customers start out on level one probation. There are three levels you must go through to earn the privilege of doing business with them. They require you to pay by wire transfer which means driving to a bank and waiting for soneone to charge you $30 to pay govdeals the money you are sending them. You can get off of probation early if you send govdeals $1000 and they hold it for 2 months and say they will send it back to you. If you do this they will allow you to oay with your credit card. I just won a bid on a vehicle and after reading all the bs and about the hoops you have to jump through just to oay them I told them they can keep the car and close my accoubt
I dont do business with people that treat their customers like that.
Desired outcome: Educate people about the way people are treated just for trying to do business with govdeals
Auction won, but not honored
I was the winning bidder of a trailer I wanted for my business. On 3-18-22 at 5:08 PM, it stated that my bid was pending based upon the seller's approval. At 5:15 PM I was congratulated as the winner. However, on 3-19-22 at 11:54 AM I received an email stating my bid has been declined. On 3-19-22 at 12:09 PM one of the online bidders is bidding on the item again. This online auction has penalties and will go after the bidder if the bidder doesn't follow through with payment. Since I was honored as the winner is there anything that I can do? Had I not received the congratulations for winning the bid. I would understand. Rules and agreements should go both ways.
GovDeals auction off items from the City, State, County, Sheriffs Office, so on and so forth. I'm sure these entities have gotten their lifetime use out of it, so let the items be sold as it should be.
For the longest I thought GovDeals was a reputable company, but with what I'm being told by others. I'm starting to believe them.
Desired outcome: I want the item I purchased.
Attention management
In 2015 I placed a incorrect bid on lot 2494-337 of 2000 ment to bid 200 call the seller I was told the only way to fix this that some would have to out bid me so no one did I was lock out for non payment of the 40%of the item which I fell was way to much is there any thing u can do so that
I can began betting again I was a good customer and this was the only time this happen and it was a mistake
Won action but locked out of account and not sure if can get item.
Won auction at 1:00pm and by 7:00pm I was locked out. I sniped the item. That is waited for the last second to bid. And avoiding any possibility of the company shill bidding. They claim has followed govdeals for years.
Soon after I won that I received an email requesting my drivers license.
I will not be providing my drivers license.
So, does that mean they will not honor the auction results?
I believe that they will honor the auction. But your account is locked until an ID is provided. And Yes, I suspect the company is engaged in shill bidding against potential buyers.
refund process designed to manipulate cash flow
In January 2018, I purchased two vehicles belonging to a Florida county through Gov Deals. Because one of them was not in the advertised condition, in fact was not drivable, the county agreed to accept its return. That's where the problems began.
Gov Deals receives and disburses all payments to sellers. All purchases over $5000 require a wire transfer so my money was in Gov Deals bank account within minutes of being transferred and within their allotted window of time.
Gov Deals takes your money but if a situation such as mine arises they make sure to DELAY an already authorized refund as much as possible. First, days go by before it is acknowledged or confirmed that a refund will be issued, in this case that took nearly two weeks.
Next, you are given a choice for reimbursement of either a wire refund or a mailed check. I chose wire and had to provide a voided check as well as instructions. Great, then you are not informed at the time that they request wires from corporate on Wednesdays ONLY. What?
Then, you are told after wondering where your refund is and emailing again, that they mail requests to corporate on Wednesdays and you should have your money by Friday or Monday of the following week.
This is cash flow manipulation, plain and simple!
I was authorized for a refund the 12th of January and will not see my refund until February 2nd or 4th, I hope.
Keep in mind that this only went forward because of my due diligence and constant requests or who knows how long this might have gone on.
My refund is still pending as of this date and we'll see what surprise is sprung on me next.
If you return an item that was not properly described by the seller who accepts the return, BRACE yourself for how long it takes to receive your authorized refund.
In my case, they have been holding my refund payment of over $5700 for 15 days and counting, with a "maybe" of a refund that extends this nightmare for another 5 days.
No matter how on top of the situation you are, they delay and delay, even though they received wired funds as payment.
Never again will I purchase anything through Gov Deals!
lack of response/transparency
my account is locked from bidding on assets. several calls to their useless help desk confirm that my account is linked to someone that i do not know nor even ever heard of. They cannot even explain how accounts are linked. How is this possible when i just created it. Same response 'our system does this'. Instructed to email and request review of account. Now several emails later and several calls and weeks have passed with no resolution. This company and their service ... well ... sucks. Terrible
Corrupt
Purchased car from City of Fleminsburg, KY. Auction listed it as Working and Running. Got down there and found out battery switched and fuel pump broken - not working. Went back to sheriff and then the Mayor to get money back right then and there with no luck. Other surprises down the road I found.
Make sure you turn car on before handing anybody the money. Don't think a sheriff or mayor of any town are honest in the least.
Called govdeals to report them but they could care less - Got me no where.

Not honoring their own rules
I joined this site a while back and have never had any luck with it. now here is the latest scam.listed below is my certificate that i won the item I bid on. I followed paragraph after paragraph of terms, rules, accept this, do this deadlines etc. I paid for the truck, put insurance on the truck and bought temp license for the truck. followed everything they asked and even called gov deals to make sure everything was in order. Now they have my money and they decided to re list the item because it did not meet the reserve. at no time did it have a reserve price listed or a right to refuse any or all bids. they seem to make up the rules as they go. gov deals site talks about integrity, how fast they are growing, even video testimonials about their site. (they where probably paid of or involved in the scams too) How can a company issue you emails and buyers certificates take your money then re list the item before refunding you your money? and all the charges I spent to wire them the money(another one of the rules they have) so here I am no money, no truck and they are selling it again! buyer beware. I called gov deals and they are rude, and said "call an attorney, our attorneys will run you out of money" Please if anyone else has had trouble with this site come forward. I plan on finding every site I can to let the public know about this company and all of its affiliates. Below is listed the certificate they sent me. as usefull and toilet paper. thank you MIchael W edmiston

Does not protect buyers poor customer service
Gov deals acts as an auction site for many municipalities on the east coast and south west. Many of the items we have purchaced have been not as described, or for a better term garbage. If you as a bidder do not pay, govdeals will hold you for 40% of the winning bid and you get nothing! Many of the vehicles we have bought are junk yard material and items described as operable are not ! Even the pictures on the site, often items are changed and missing parts by the time you pay and pick them up. Govdeals staff tell you to go back to the seller and they wash their hands of the deal. Leaving you forced to pay for worn out garbage or be fined.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I want to join a class action they lied in their description of a 2015 f-250 just needed a tune up. When I got it and checked it had new coils and sparkplugs also a new mass air flow sensor. The issue was a broken valve spring and a broken valve. I've got 10k in a truck that needs a minimum of 5k to run. These are the thieves that sold it through govdeals...JP Auto Wholesalers

I woke up this morning and checked my email and was told I had the winning bid on an old motorcycle I never bid on. I don't know if I have been hacked or if this is an outside scheme where some Nigeran actually thinks they will force me to pay for something I didn't bid on or try stealing money calling it the penalty. Will not pay will sue them!

Best Class action atty there is !
Look him up.
I also was screwed by Govdeals and banned today after refusing to sign a statement that I would not contact sellers and ask questions about assets. They and their shill bidding and their hateful representative supervisor are organized crime tactics at its best !
I am a law enforcement official and they allow shill bidding to take place as well. Look at past auction results and look for bidder n********1 . He was disqualified and a high second chance offer was given to me. This has happened before with this same name. Yet he is right back on there running up bids again a day later after being banished by Govdeals.
Do your proper research and you will see patterns in the bids. Chalk some up to random occurrence, but there is absolutely shill bidding taking place. And their user agreement basically waives ALL of your protections and rights if you sign up as a bidder. Simply amazing how crooked this company is . One supervisor is a total [censored]. She has a broom in the corner with a kick-starter and dual exhaust.
Definitely joining a class action suit against Govdeals. Thousands of ripped off pissed off people can't be wrong.
I hope the FTC nails these crooks to the wall for their cheating deeds.
I just purchased a Dump truck on Gov deals. they took three good pictures that showed no rust and only said every thing was unknown. They chose not to show any pitchers of the rust through of the truck and the dump bed, a man could craw through the holes that were rusted in the bed. This is not something that happened after the truck was posted on gov deals the rust was now the truck is only good for scrap. I had to pick up the truck in five days or the truck goes back To the state of GA, Lesson to learn look at all adds on gov deals as a lie go inspect the item your self or don't bid on it. they removed the tail gate, bed tarp cover and all the hard ware swapped one good front tire for a flat tire that after I finely got to hold air it was so out of round it just about shook the truck apart driving down the road. the first three pictures are from gov deals the rest i took

Does not pay his employees for wages earned
Looking to file a Class Action Lawsuit against GOVDEALS for charging a 40% fee on property they do not own in the first place. in my case a $5, 600.00 dump truck that was mistrprepresented .they wanted 40% then blocked me from bidding, keep in mind I am one of the top bidders on other sites we are one of the oldest Auto Delaershops Here in Arizona, also started with a small company then called ebay and I was the #1 seller on "ebay Motors" with over 5, 000 vehicles Sold, so I do know the laws... GOVDeals charges 40% if you fail for any reason to pay for your item a $5.00 item 40% a $5, 000.00 item 40% if you do not pay the 40% you are blocked from bidding..I have 2 bidders who did not pay the 40% and never where block or they where cleared..looking for all bidders, dealers or public/private bidders to join in to file a class action lawsuit against govdeals. this charge is illegal on a auction site (public) we need to addressed this now, at the very least we will let every city and state goverment agency they do business with what is being charged and who gets the 40% ..this is WRONG lets get this addressed in a court of law.. contact Team Verdone LLc 1111 n miller rd. I been buying equipment from others aution where they charge 10% but 40% on top of the bid price makes all extremely expenseve but i dont know why peoples still buying there thinking they have a good deal when really is not also why municipal go with them when there are betters aution who can make them more money. If try to buy something there cant bid to high becouse the 40% all is real bad the 40% is trying in the goverment to be rich and is trying all the municipal go with them when they have something for sale.
Someone needs to. They do this to civilians and cops alike, so don't feel like the Lone Ranger my friend !
The mob has more respect and decency than to operate like Rip-Deals...
Gathering data for fbi?
The problem govdeals.com has is a slow computor system. It state clearly on the aplication process that if you dont get a responce from them or to gain access to the site right away to call the customer service # . I had to do this 3 days after I registered to get access to the site.I have been a happy customer since. The reason for the info is because you purchase directly from the depts or agencies. If you dont pay or pick up within specified times, they will ban you from the site.
Govdeals is a scammers market place. I just caught them rigging 2 auctions simultaneously. gotta love technology and my screen recording of every second. they will either fix it or be shut down within weeks. id put my life on it.
They say I am asscoiated with some one else, i have no idea how they have me associated with some one else and stop me from bidding on public surplus property. If this hapened to you call the local muncipitalities and tell rhem to use better auctioning sites
I have spent over $250, 000.00 on GovDeals auctions. I won an auction for $10.00, the auction was paid for, I arranged a local shipper to pick up the item. Considering it was a 10.00 auction and pretty much let my employees handle shipping I assumed everything went OK. Well item was not picked up. I had no idea, no-one contacted me. Months later I find my acct was locked because item was not picked up. Consider my past business with them I assume I could pay the fine and continue to do business. The employees were very rude, unwilling to help in anyway, therefore I had to drive 20 miles each way to go to a bank, get a $4.00 money order which cost me $10.00 in service charges and mail it to them. Wasted a ton of time and they could care less. I have been a customer for several years and never had any issue. They could care less. How about coming into the 21st century and allow people to pay electronically since everything else is conducted that way. The employees seemed to enjoy the fact that they were making it such a difficult process for me. Just an extreme pain in the butt for a long time buyer who has always followed the rules. Gov deals customer service and process SUCK!
Govdeals I believe bid against you, if you will notice after looking at bid the false bid usually start with a letter then a number. Most of all the are for the seller not for the purchaser. I bid on a truck from New Iberia Louisiana Gov Parrish it clearly stated truck starts and runs after paying for truck I found that the last time it started and ran was three years ago. I first call Govdeals they did nothing so I filed a complaint with american express to dispute. this went on for 10 day gov deals said don't worry about it but your account will be locked, I ok because I believe they are price fixing anyway. I tried contacting seller by email phone no response I cc gov deals no response. Finally I call govdeals one more time they clearly said that I was not charged. The very next day it appeared on my american express charges. They are liars and cheats I would never do business with them again. I feel that the federal and state government should also stop doing business with a company who clearly deceives citizens
Get this folks!
During the first 30 days, you will be limited to bidding/paying/picking up only three auctions. Once you do all of those, you can do more, but only up to three in the first 30 days.
In the next 30 days, you do six. I guess if you don't do six, your still stuck at three.
In the next 30 days after the six, you can do nine. To get out of this level, you MUST do nine. Forces you to buy at least nine auctions to get out of level 3.
In 30 days increments. Its a 30 day HELL!
OR you can fund them $1000 in money order or cashiers check for some time at no interest earned and if you do well, you get it back at some point.
Oh, and did I mention even though you pay for your winnings with a credit card, they hold your payment for review and that makes for enhanced frustration with working with the seller to pick up you bid.
Oh, and if you email or even call customer service, you get the condescending treatment. Like you are stupid. (well no, I just want to spend my companies money ... duh)
What type of place is this that so many fine sellers use? !
I purchased a server room a/c unit, weighs 1600 lbs. Icontacted the seller immediately after the auction and he then told me I would need a crane to complete the job. I do not have a crane nor do I wish to learn how to use one removing heavy items from their roof. In all of the pictures, ev erything was at ground floor. He also informed me I had to be extremely quiet and he wanted it done very fast.
I paid $14.00 for this item. It involves glycol, water and high voltage. I inromed him I'd prefer to take my time and do the job correctly. Guy was a real ### from day one. He was expecting a team of ac specialists to come in and remove everything and be gone in an hour
He got a hold of me and said to just come get everything at ground level, sent me an email right back telling me not to come, he had to talk to legal 1st.
He sent me an email Friday saying okay, come get it immediately.
Monday morning I am calling around to rent the equipment needed, trailers and a forklift.
I got an email from govdeals saying I was locked out of my account.
I am a disabled vet, I relied on that to pay my bills. I'm on a fixed income, very limited in what I can do. I just lost my source of income. He sent me an email friday telling me ok, come get it immediately, monday morning I was locked out.
Sumner county, michael cook, thanks, I appreciate you being such a great guy. You screwed me badly
a couple of negative things about gov deals 1) they take away from live auctions and local auctioneers. 2) they play a role in "policing for profit" where we now essentially have special police units acting like mafia except with the support of government military type equipment and procedures. A bunch of military wannabees raiding communities looking for money. They lie, they fabricate, any way to get the money, they hack up security systems and recording devices, destroy property, kill pets, and innocent people. Govdeals does not require them to state if an item is seized which can put the buyer in danger such as with chemical or drug residues or a drug dealer seeing them driving around in their custom car, or just an old man who died and the family was never properly notified of property held by agencies and the buyer would unknowingly possess items taken unwillingly from a dead person. Also, items seized from innocent persons or persons they had no moral place taking from. 3) They are bias for the seller and buyers are at the mercy of govdeals, government, and the seller. Some of their ethics and methods as well as the sellers violate state auctioneer regulations which revolve around ethics and fairness. Compare how ebay used to bias for sellers too and was legally forced to adjust. Here we are talking about the government itself. Can the government be made to adjust to equal fairness to buyers?
I have used govdeals and GSA to buy vehicles with no problems UNTIL I went to pick up a vehicle. The Seller's (Police) description was misleading. This case the Seller was hoping to get a higher bid by taking favorable pictures not showing RUST HOLES on both rocker panels. I called govdeals and followed their instructions pertaining to Not accepting the vehicle. Now I'm banded from buying from this Seller. MY ADVISE TO all buyers is to ASK THE SELLER ALL THE QUESTIONS YOU WISH. ESPECIALLY IF THE DESCRIPTION IS POORLY WRITTEN. This Seller told me the tires were almost new. BOTTOM LINE: Govdeals refunded my purchase price But Kept their 12% commission! I disputed the credit card charge BUT because you accept the terms to bid the CC company sided with govdeals. BEWARE!
I find this site odd in the fact that for some reason they have lots of buyers bidding from the start. For example I am watching some jewelry it has a 9 day auction. Bids start at $50 and after day 1 it has several bidders and its over $500. I also email for authenticity, thinking that it would be illegal to sell counterfeits. Nobody responded.
govdeals.com is legit but have horrible customer service and you will NEVER get a supervisor or some one in charge that's there policy in fact!
