Two weeks ago I made arrangements to have Habitat for Humanity pick up furniture. First, they got the day wrong, and second when that day finally came the driver gave me a long list of reasons why they couldn't do it. I find this organization to be unreliable and unprofesional. Next time I will definately use Salvation Army or Purple Heart. As a result, I feel compelled to let others know not to waist their time with such nonsense!

There are many people with complaints regarding Habitat for Humanity. However, PR for the organization asserts that Habitat does more good than bad. However, for the home owners or family partners who are faced with the bad are viewed as ungrateful. It is not ungratefulness, it is that you become part of the scam by not exposing the hypocrisy and you become the disposable partner who gets finished off by the end of the movie. Until someone files a class action suit, garners all the complaints and encourages people that they will be safe if they talk, Habitat will continue to throw their weight around.

This is very true. Being a homeowner myself, I asked if I could take the documents home to read before signing them and I was told "no", I also asked about having an attorney present when I signed them and they told me an attorney would be there to answer any questions I had. It was just me in the room, with two people giving me a look that they were going to be there all day and i had time slot to get things signed before the next family and was unable to read what the deed really said. Now that I have ready it, I screwed myself and my future. Our property values since buying the house have doubled, HFH would get $75, 000 and probably leave me with about $2, 000.00 if I sold it. Not even enough to put a down payment on a house. I wish authorities would look into their practices.

Habitat For Humanity has given me no reason to be grateful so I really don't care if I am therefore accused of being ungrateful to the organization. I bought a sofa from Habitat For Humanity at Florida Mall in Orlando, Florida. That damn thing was infested with bed bugs. I complained about bugs and was told by the sales lady at Habitat For Humanity that we had "German roaches" because German roaches are small. She sold me a mattress encasement for the sofa. I sprayed for bugs repeatedly but to no avail. A professional exterminator came out here and said that we had bed bugs and that he is certain that the origin of them is that sofa. I hired someone to move the couch for me the next morning and contacted Habitat For Humanity to say that I wanted for them to check the store because the sofa I had bought had been sitting for several days within inches of other fabric furniture. They told me that they would get back to me and promised me a refund for the sofa and so on and so forth. Now they are still claiming that they will get back to me, but the goal is clearly to cover-up the fact that they sell bed bugs. Yet bed bugs can be easily detected with dogs that can smell them even if they are just larvae at the time. I am angry as well because the manager of the store said that he wanted to inspect the couch that I had thrown out on the advice of the professional exterminator. Clearly the time for inspecting merchandise for bed bugs is before it goes on the sales floor unless you are looking to sell at 100% profit the bed bug furniture that your store got for free from someone because they didn't want to pay the dump to take it. Habitat For Humanity is therefore quite inhumane and are just running a scam to get their product for free, their volunteer labor for free, and their taxes for free by claiming to be a "non-profit". That is not charity. That is a highly profitable scam.

The Sydney and Illawarra offices are rude and unproffessional... my dealings with them have been odd to say the least... the gentleman I met with makes up his own submissions for the committee regardless of what you tell him and the committee votes on what this man says whether its the truth or not... he spent the whole hour of our meeting telling us HIS problems ie drug adfict son in law who is now in jail, while pretending to listen to what we were telling him... Very unproffessional and I got the feeling he enjoyed playing 'GOD' .. with the charities money, yes you can have a house... no YOU cant and when you ask why...he just wont reply and ignores you... horrible rude people to be running a non profit charity...
