I was told about Hooked on Solar by a friend who was super happy with their work
I was told about Hooked on Solar by a friend who was super happy with their work. I talked to Nicole about putting solar panels on my garage/shop and she knew what she was talking about. She helped me out a lot. When it was time to put the panels on, they told me what was going on and finished on time. Nicole and the crew were always cool and answered my questions. I'm happy with the job they did!
The Hooked on Solar peeps were super cool, from the sales dude (Michael B****) to the site checkers to the installers
The Hooked on Solar peeps were super cool, from the sales dude (Michael B) to the site checkers to the installers. They were all pro and nice, and they made it easy to get why solar panels are dope. Plus, they promised to keep all the warranties legit. They were also good about Covid stuff and made my fam feel chill. And when they bounced, my pad was cleaner than when they got there. I'd tell anyone who wants solar to hit up Hooked on Solar.
I had a 5KW system installed with HOS Really bad experience with this company. Contract was signed on July 3rd, timeline set to 10-12 weeks. Due to multiple faults from design team the project took >5+ months to complete. Though I was assigned a Customer Rep who was suppose to walk me through the entire process and keep me apprised, never heard from the person. Information retrieval is a pull process wherein if you need to find out where you stand you got to call-in. HOS suffers from utter lack of communication between its internal teams (Sales, design, install etc). Sales rep will also make all sorts of promises but do not live up to them. So watch out for that. Sent multiple communications to project manager and owner but no replies just "we are looking into and someone will get back to you shortly". Overall experience with HOS team leaves much to be desired I gave them 1 star because of the ease-of install and the professional manner in which it was handled in single day. Except that part the entire process was mired with delays due to design issue, lack of communication and internal miscommunications. Very frustrating ordeal after spending upwards of 22K on the system. They certainly do not live up to the Master Dealer standard. If you are in Bay-Area you might be better served with local providers.
The solar expert was amazing!
The solar expert was amazing! She knew everything about solar and was super helpful. She was really professional and nice the whole time. She cared more about answering my questions and helping me than just selling me something. I did a lot of research on solar and different prices and options. I was about to go with another company when a friend told me to work with this expert. She was so impressive and gave me a better experience and better product than the other company. It cost more, but the product was better and the expert's service was amazing. I'm really happy I went with Hooked On Solar and this expert.
Hooked on Solar by Sunpower hooked me up with a Solar power system and it's been great!
Hooked on Solar by Sunpower hooked me up with a Solar power system and it's been great! I talked to *** on 2/1/22 and the Solar installation was done on March 3rd. The *** checked it out on March 9th and PG&E gave it the thumbs up on March 12th. The Hooked on Solar crew was super helpful and *** was always there to answer my questions. She's a real pro! The whole thing was done in less than 6 weeks. I totally recommend Hooked on Solar for all your solar power needs. I'm so happy with my experience and working with *** was awesome. Thanks, ***!
Listen up, folks!
Listen up, folks! When times are tough, it's hard to know who to trust. But let me tell you, if you're thinking about going solar, you gotta talk to this dude named *** at Hooked on Solar by SUNPOWER in ***, . This guy knows his stuff - he's been with the company for over 9 years and has helped more than 2,000 people go solar. And SUNPOWER? They've been killin' it in the solar game for 30 years. That's some serious street cred, if you ask me. *** will answer any question you throw at him and guide you through the whole process, from start to finish. And let me tell you, this guy's got integrity. He'll treat you right and won't waste your time. So if you want the real deal, hit up Hooked on Solar and ask for ***. You won't regret it. ***.***, April
I went solar with SunPower by Hooked on Solar in 2016
I went solar with SunPower by Hooked on Solar in 2016. I was very happy with my solar consultant during the information gathering stage. Nicole was very knowledgeable and patient in answering all my questions and explaining all the different options while I did my analysis over a four month period. She was not pushy (which I appreciated) and very informative. I ultimately decided to lease a 9.48kW SunPower solar system which means that if the solar underproduces annually, I will get a reimbursement check from SunPower Corporate. The installation went smoothly and is clean looking (no exposed conduit on my roof) and I was very happy that the higher wattage SunPower panels meant I could keep all the solar on my rear South facing roof plane (not visible from the street). Recently my solar system had grossly underproduced per the terms of the lease agreement and so I reached out to SunPower Corporate directly. They were very slow to get out to repair/replace and get me my refund check for solar underproduction. I became increasingly frustrated, so finally I reached back out to my solar consultant, Nicole to ask for help and she was able to intervene on my behalf, and get the process expedited with SunPower Corporate. From now on, I will reach out to her first and let her be my advocate with SunPower. Can't recommend Hooked on Solar (and Nicole) enough.
I wrote a review on Yelp and Nextdoor last year, but I forgot to comment on ComplaintsBoard.com!
I wrote a review on Yelp and Nextdoor last year, but I forgot to comment on ComplaintsBoard.com! In 2019, I started researching solar options, battery backup options, and installers for my HOA. It took me six months to read, research, contact industry manufacturers, organizations, and regulators. I interviewed over a dozen installers and vetted six. Ultimately, Hooked on Solar with Tesla batteries was the top choice on all points, so I contracted with them. I worked with Nicole Barenchi who was most impressive and well-rounded with industry knowledge and various product performances/comparisons. She also turned out to be FIVE stars in the contract, installation, and after-the-fact performance! My system was installed in June , and I was extraordinarily pleased with "my" HOS team. They were exceptional at explanations and communications, and every step of the install was on-time, professional, and seamless. They worked with me to design the system changes I desired, and they respected my home with care and clean up. In fact, they individually seemed to go above and beyond with each step. Nicole and the rebate team took care of all those explanations, paperwork processing, and follow-up (you won't appreciate how valuable that is until you see PG&E rebate forms!). I scored with the best Consultant and systems, but just as importantly, Nicole and the entire HOS team remains available to me because seven months later I still have "blond" questions LOL Seriously, how many companies have you experienced that performs at the highest levels during all phases of a project...and then continues to provide system support and on-going system review, education, and assistance? Once you meet Nicole, or the install team, you will recognize every compliment included in this review.

I have been extremely disappointed with the credit ability of both the salesperson Patrick S and the company
I have been extremely disappointed with the credit ability of both the salesperson Patrick S and the company. The salesperson gave me a $ 500.00 Estimate verbally for panel removal; as I discussed with him I would need to replace my roof within 1 - 3 years. My final decision to move forward was the cost of removal and reinstall of 10 panels. I called to have this done giving them the 2 week notice they require and much to my surprise the cots is $2300.00 not $500.00 as I was quoted. Patrick recalled our conversation but said his main office will not honor that price. At this point he has not returned my calls? He only left the above message. Do not trust this company..
After I got my estimate from Hooked on Solar, and I figured it was just another small solar company
After I got my estimate from Hooked on Solar, and I figured it was just another small solar company. Told him briefly what I was looking for, almost dismissively, but to my surprise, I felt heard. He answered my questions, and followed up in email, numerous times. He showed that he was not just a sales guy but knew the tech, upcoming trends and changes, and spent time keeping abreast of things. During the design phase, they moved some panels to a different location which I was unsure about, but it ended up being the right call as it made the system more efficient. My HOS installation happened on time (before year end as promised), was installed quickly (barely over a day), and the work was done professionally, including cleaning up and painting conduit at no charge. While my system is only a month or so old, I can recommend them without hesitation. If you're been waiting for a reasonably priced, honest solar company, this is it.

I got some papers here
I got some papers here.. My bill was like $3600 this year. They messed up the work and like 7 or 8 panels weren't sending power back to the grid. Plus, we had other issues like missing data for 2 years. How do you fix it if you don't have the data? They said they'll pay me back $775.04 @ .17$/kWh but that doesn't make up for the work mistake. I know I used more power last year but how do I know their data is right? I think Hooked on Solar/*** should pay for half of my bill.
I acquired multiple Powerwalls from Hooked on Solar in mid-2020
I acquired multiple Powerwalls from Hooked on Solar in July . They estimated a 3-6 month wait, yet it exceeded that. By October, my contact at Energy had departed. He had a knack for communication. Inquiring about my Powerwalls' arrival yielded uncertainty. Recently, they mentioned a call to schedule pre-wiring in 2 weeks, with a further 6-9 weeks for delivery. I've reached out to my contact five times via email and twice by phone, leaving three messages with both the main and 'Production Support' lines to no avail. Having paid $500 and committed to a rebate, I'm locked in with them, leaving me in limbo.
We gave HOS cash for a solar system for our house in August , and it's still under warranty
We gave HOS cash for a solar system for our house in August , and it's still under warranty. In June , our solar system stopped working because of faulty solar equipment. It took HOS almost a year (March ) to fix our system. During that time, we kept detailed notes of our contacts with HOS. Many times, staff didn't call us back, didn't show up for scheduled repairs, or canceled last minute. During an HOS roof inspection, staff broke tiles on our roof. We had to pay $300 to fix them, and HOS said they'd pay us back, but they haven't yet. We asked to meet with the CEO, Mr. ***, many times during the 9 months, but he never contacted us to fix the problem.

I had a problem with my inverter not talking to the internet, so I called Hooked on Solar, Inc
I had a problem with my inverter not talking to the internet, so I called Hooked on Solar, Inc. They said it would cost $275 to send someone out, but I said no thanks. I looked it up and figured out how to fix it myself. Then I saw that I had some bad optimizers, so I called them back. They said they would order the parts and come back to fix it. When they came back, they charged me $275, which I didn't know about. I told them I didn't know about the charge, but they called me a liar. Now they won't help me even though I have a warranty.
I joined up with Hooked on Solar, Inc
I joined up with Hooked on Solar, Inc. because I heard good things about SunPower and we wanted to go fully solar to avoid PG&E bills for our new home. We met with someone named *** (our first contact) and signed a contract on 7/30 that said Hooked on Solar would finish the job within 75 days. But it's been about 110 days now and the job still isn't done. Hooked on Solar has broken their own contract, not talked to me, and left the job unfinished! 1. They sent contractors (who aren't paid by the hour) who did a bad job and didn't follow the plan. 2. We had to cancel the city inspection. 3. After many weeks of waiting and taking time off work, Hooked on Solar finally sent someone to redo the job, but they showed up late and spent most of the day there. 4. They sent another person with the wrong information and we had to cancel the city inspection again. Now it's been weeks and Hooked on Solar hasn't contacted us or finished the job. I need to be compensated for all the time I've taken off work and for changing my schedule to work with Hooked on Solar, Inc.
I bought a house with a solar system that was put in by Hooked on Solar about a year ago
I bought a house with a solar system that was put in by Hooked on Solar about a year ago. The system was installed on a tile roof and there was a leak in one area whenever it rained. I called Hooked on Solar and they said that the previous owner had the same problem. They checked the roof and said that the leak was because of leaves in the flashing. They sent me pictures and I believed them. This year, there was a new leak in a different area. It was right under the panel posts. I called Hooked on Solar again and they sent someone to check it out. The person said that it looked like the leak was coming from where the panels were attached to the roof. They said they would send a team to take apart the roof to check. But they didn't call me back for a few days, so I called them. They never called me back and sent me an email saying that the leak was because of a previous roof repair. They sent me the same pictures as before. But the leaks were in two different areas of the roof. Hooked on Solar hasn't answered my calls and hasn't given me any warranty information.
I gotta say, I'm pretty upset with Hooked on Solar
I gotta say, I'm pretty upset with Hooked on Solar. I signed up with them back in September and everything seemed great. The sales rep, ***, was super helpful and got us signed up for a promo that would give us a $1,000 rebate if we signed up before the end of the year. Our panels were installed in October and everything seemed to be going smoothly.
But then, a few weeks later, I tried to reach out to *** to ask about some promotions and rebates we were supposed to be getting. Turns out, she was no longer with Hooked on Solar. So I tried calling their support number multiple times, but every time I called, they just told me they'd send a note to their sales department and someone would get back to me. But no one ever did.
I'm getting pretty fed up with this whole situation. I've been patient, considering everything going on with COVID, but it's been over a month and I still haven't heard anything. It's really frustrating and I just want someone to help me out.
I bought a solar system from Hooked on Solar a few years ago
I bought a solar system from Hooked on Solar a few years ago. I told my sales person, Janelle, that I wanted a system that would completely offset my energy bill. I also told her that I didn't run my air conditioner or heater because it was too expensive, and I wanted a system big enough to do that. I paid $24,497.00 in cash for a system that was supposed to meet these requirements. This is the third year I've owned the system. Year 1, I got a bill over $750.00. After many calls, and being told a manager would get back to me, I got no resolution. Year 2, the inverters on the panels failed. They came out and replaced them. Year 3, I have a $980.00 bill, and the cycle isn't even finished yet. So my bill this year will be well north of $1000.00. This is despite the fact that I have not used my heater or air conditioner at all during the cycle. Not once! I use a swamp cooler for cooling, and a pellet stove for heating. Both of which draw less electricity than the heat pump I wanted to use. I paid in cash, the equivalent of a brand new vehicle for the solar system. and I received a lemon.
