I found out I had a debt on my credit report from an apartment community that had been turned over to Hunter Warfield for collections 2 years ago. My credit report stated one amount, when I called the apartment community the amount was $25.00 higher, and they referred me to Hunter Warfield to resolve the debt. When I called Hunter Warfield, they insisted the debt was yet another $20.00 higher than the original on the credit report (which was just ran yesterday). HW explained it was interest... When I tried to get the interest negotiated, they did not want to hear it. This debt was due to cleaning fees from an apartment for an oven cleaning and removing a table from a patio. When I agreed to pay the higher balance, they asked for all sorts of personal information, including a friend or relatives phone number - even though I was paying the balance in full. When I would not give this information, I was hung up on. When I called back, I was placed on hold for an extremely long time and hung up on once again when I wouldn't disclose a friend's number. I finally spoke to a supervisor on my 3rd call and was able to get a pin number to make the payment online without disclosing a friend's number (which the prior associates would not do in the previous calls). This company is extremely rude.

We too are dealing with HW. I have a legitimate debt that I could not pay at once to our old apartment complex. I started paying them $10 a week as that is all I can afford and they have told me that is not a payment plan, that they need my debit card/bank info so they can draft my account. I have refused to give them any bank info and they said they have to have that info for their system to show a payment plan otherwise they will keep calling. I told them "I guess you will be calling me then". I have refused to give any info every time I did speak to them and I have told them that if they are refusing my payments, to send my checks back to me. Of course they have not done that. However they call almost weekly and go straight to voicemail because I refuse to argue with them.

I have just received a letter from this company. I went online as I have never dealt with a CA before. http://www.wikihow.com/Deal-With-Collection-Agencies This is a wiki on how to deal with collection agencies. Let me tell you I followed this step by step and I had to talk to a supervisor as the collectors didn't comply. I have a $1200 debt that I am only able to pay $100 on. They were not willing at first, but I was firm on the amount that I could pay. We hae come to an agreement.

I "owed" my apartment complex money and got a call from "Reed Silverman" debt collection and let me tell you first hand, it's a scam. After ignoring them a few MILLION times, they completely stopped calling. I eventually went to court for my apartment case and the judge dismissed it completely because he saw it was bogus. Don't pay any money to this agency. They'll call you A LOT...but you don't have to pay them, they're just a knock off debt collector that apartments use to scare people. Don't even speak with them.

Love how all the employees from this sorry company are on here trying to defend what they do. Just because someone sends you a paper with a name and amount does not always mean it is correct. I filed suit against HW and Mid America Apartments last week. Should be fun!

I have recently began attempting to do business with HW. Never once have I ignored their calls. I am aware I am responsible for the debt. I have recieved numerous calls and answered everytime. I specified times to contact me when I would not be busy to resolve the debt. I work 2 jobs so my time is limited. I have not received calls at the specified times I requested so I called them. Gave them my name and account number, asked to work out a payment arrangement, and was asked why I could not pay the debt in full. I simply explained I had other responsibilities but that I would be happy to work with them. "Call back when you can pay the balance" click. The balance is $1, 243.89 currently and it is un realistic to assume I can cover the entire debt immediately. That was problem number one. After seeing they were not interested in assisting me any way I called again explained what happened to "a supervisor" and was nicely apologized too. He told me he would review the account. After a week of no contact I received a call at work. I told the lady the supervisors name and that he was attempting to review my account to see if I could get the balance reduced and to work out payment arrangements. She apologized. I said"no problem. If you don't mind will you make sure you have my cell number and please no longer contact me at my place of employment". She got my cell number which was already on record and apologized. The very next day she called my place if employment again without first contacting my personal number. I answered and immediately asked her not too call my job again but that she was more than welcome to call my cell any time. My exact final nice words to her "I promise I am not attempting to dodge the bullet but I cannot take personal calls at work" her immidiate response "we have every right to contact your place of employment". Since this conversation I have been contacted 3 additional times at my job. I had my district manager address the issue with her directly. The last conversation I had with the employee was to inform her that if she continued to contact my place of employment I would be forced to take further actionto prevent it from happening. I am not interested in arguing or fighting. I want to pay the debt I am responsible for. But I do know my rights and as they have my personal number, an alternate number, and my mailing address... I will be forced to take action if they continue to harrass my place of employment. I have since tried to get in contact withthe same supervisor I spoke with to discuss payment, to no avail. I'm really ddisappointed right now with the entire situation.

I am so glad to see that there are others who have experinced the same rude behavior and inconsistent information. These people are Crazy! Back in 2008 me and my mother and father moved out of our apartment. We left the place spotless but still didn't get our deposit back do to our couch leaving an indention in the carpet like most furniture does when you have lived there for 2 + years. They kept our deposit and then said we owe another $1329.00 on top of the deposit they took. All for carpet that had common wear and tear. So of course we wrote a letter disputing it! We then never heard anything back so we thought we must have been heard. That was until we ran a credit report realizing they had given it to Hunter Warfield. This was the worst place I had EVER dealt with. They were awful in so many ways! I am planning on taking further action to make sure they won't do this to anyone else!

Mid 2012 I moved my elderly in-laws into an assisted living facility from an apartment complex. Due to health issues they had to leave the apartment 21 days before the lease was up. This was discussed with the apartment Manager and my family made sure that everything was paid in full. I am assuming that because it was marked as a "broken lease", someone in the regional office for the apartment complex passed it to HW for collection. It has now shown up on my in-laws credit report. I can accept that this was an honest mistake on the part of the apartment complex but the communications with HW have been horrible. I called to request a POC and was asked if I have PoA. Before I could get the "yes" out of my mouth and ask where it should be sent, the HW representative shouted "then this call is over!" and hung up. I have a signed statement and will now file a dispute with all three credit agencies. Hopefully that will help clear the good name of honest, hard working, Veterans who never missed a bill in their lives. I am still left wondering if something more needs to be done. This system seems to be broken.

I just got off the phone with two people from this company, trying to collect a debt of $4, 874 for a lease that they "say" I broke. Now after two years they are just now putting this on my credit report? Wow.. Considering I never recieved any legal documentation or even a bill from the apartment company. The lady I spoke with tried getting all my personal information and when I disagreed to give it to her she hung up on me and refused to send legal documentation. The man I spoke with would not take the payment plan I offered to pay to them if I were responsible for the debt. He told me to pay 4, 874 in full amount or monthly payments of $475... Umm only considering I am a student who works part time. He refused anything else from me. Then has the nerve to ask "what is it that you are looking for?" I responded "to pay my debt". He says " If you are looking for some kind of reciept becuas you are trying to get approved for a home, your not going to have any luck". What? I have a home and I am not seeking anything from you or your company. I am just trying to pay my debt and still live while doing so!

I just asked for a supervisor because the person I was talking to was rude and kept hanging up on me. Turns out he was the supervisor.

Camden woods or "Scamden"
Woods? (in TAmpa Florida) My wife and I had a real family emergency and asked for
permission to break the lease without consequences. We were told we
could if we moved out by the 20th of July 2012, which was only a couple
of days (also my wife's birthday) that we would be OK and forgiven without consequences. Now they have turned us over to collections to Hunter Warfield for well over $5, 000.00 for breaking the lease. We surely would have considered other options had we known this was their racketeering tactic.I know we should have got it in writing, however, when you are under pressure you make bad decisions. We definitely would not have broken the lease if they said we will go after you for over five grand! They have
created an incentive for them to collect double rent which is also illegal in most states as well. Please
reconsider Camden Woods and their partner in crime Hunter Warfield!

After working for a Collection Agency many years ago (family owned business that has since gone out of business) I am appalled at the behavior of some of these representatives on the phone. I too am now in a similar situation thanks to moving out of an apartment complex with one month left on the 12 mnth lease. From 6 months having problems of damaged, sinking floors (from water caused by previous tenant), to an A/C unit that didn't work properly causing a bill of $250 for a 550 sq ft apart, to black mold growing in the 2 neighbors apartments (4 units in one block - 2 front/2 back). After having 4 owners in a one year time span the last owners went "paperless" and lost my lease but turned around and told my future landlord that I had 6 months left, when in fact there was only 1...where was their proof? I at least had a copy of my lease. After 2 years, it's finally on my credit report and Hunter Warfield is representing them. I just politely asked for their address to send them a "cease and desist" letter and they won't be able to contact me again. Oh happy days.
