Aug 09, 2023 no reserve loose gemstones auction on LiveAuctioneers.com
"Shipping: Domestic: Flat-rate of $7.00 to anywhere within the contiguous U.S." I fully expected to pay $7 FLAT SHIPPING. Further, it is insanely egregious that they would charge $500+ in shipping for anything, and in this case, for $200 worth of merchandise from a business that is in New York. I feel punched in the gut and utterly scammed out of my hard earned money. This type of chicanery undercuts consumer confidence and is absolutely awful business practices. So disappointing.
Desired outcome: I have no problem paying the aforementioned flat rate of $7. Otherwise, the only desirable outcome would be a full cancelation of the purchase invoice.
Jasper52 refused to take responsibility for any unclear, confusing, or misunderstood language they use in their auctions and profile on liveauctioneers.com. Rather than making positive changes that would provide clarity and transparency to their business practices, they choose to keep the wordings…which, I can only assume, is because they benefit from its vagueness.
The invoice I received was atrocious. Their response was NOT “I’m sorry, that total is not accurate. We will send you a revised invoice soon.” and then follow through. That would’ve been appropriate. Instead, they argued that I was reading everything wrong. They said that they original invoice was “not yet final” and that the pay “link was not even active.” This is absolutely untrue as the pay link was, in fact, ACTIVE. They said “Your invoice is being prepared…and will be sent as soon as we receive the details from the listing agent.” (Btw…who IS the listing agent? No where on the posting does it describe a listing agent!) I did NOT receive a revised invoice before they took money out of my account. Again, another untruth.
Nothing they said to me was sensitive to the fact that I was the buyer. Everything they said was argumentative and defensive. They lied about the pay button, they lied about sending a new invoice, and they refuse to change the language on their profile or on the items they sell. This entire experience feels like I just made a purchase from a dealer in the dark alley of Gotham. Just know, if you engage with Jasper52, you’re on your own. Shipping will be outrageous, you won’t know who you are actually buying from, and there is no way to vet anyone.
I’m moving onward to other more positive experiences and deleting this seller from my radar.
This is what I learned today about your business practices on liveauctioneers.com:
Jasper52 is NOT the "seller". Each item in your auction is from a different "seller". Those sellers don't have names, nor are they grouped or listed anywhere or in any way. The buyer would have to graph or chart of all the sellers embedded within the auction to know if they are purchasing from the same seller or not. (And all the while I thought I was purchasing them from ONE seller…Jasper52.) Not only is this elusive, it's also quite unmanageable for the buyer…but that's by design, isn't it? On top of that…the buyer has to pay every seller that "flat-rate" of $7. So, when you say a flat-rate, what you really are saying is that you will charge that rate each time a buyer "wins" from a different seller. That's a brilliantly fallacious way to tally up the shipping charges. How many sellers are there, anyway? 50? 100? More? There is absolutely no accountability here. No way to look it up and no way to vet who we are actually buying from. Further, you say that the items are coming from India, but that's not true either.
I am trying to believe that Jasper52 has good intentions…I really am…but when a business doesn't reach out in an effort to make things right, or they refuse to see things from a different perspective, or they go so far as to suggest that the buyer is the one at fault…it's difficult to see the good in them. Look at your profile on liveauctioneers. Tell me where I can find about how your business is really run. Show me where I can find that you are merely the middle man between a plethora of "sellers". Where does it tell me what all these seller numbers mean and how many there are. There is nothing in your profile or your terms and conditions that discusses multiple sellers. You have presented yourself as an auction house. How else was I supposed to think of you? Transparency is a good thing…and some of us expect it out of acceptable/exceptional and upstanding businesses.
Make this right. Cancel my invoice.
die-cast car models
This concerns the purchase of two vehicles listed oil invoice # 2473917. That invoice covers the following;
Lot# 0015 Vitesse Buick Special and Lot # 0006 Solido Packard vehicle
The problem is that I received a product # 0006 I didn't order which was a regular Packard, not a military one. The second item 0015 which is the Buick special never arrived. The above invoice was paid in full for 66.00 dollars. Could someone look into this matter and email at [protected]@gmail.com
The service rep in my opinion was very rude and reflects on the company he works for. I also could not understand him as his english was not very good. A bad place to have someone without fluent english skills, or he is from another country.

invoice #2381673 natural crystals, minerals & specimens
This is supposed to be a natural lazuirte crystal. It has been "manufactured" and very poorly done. It is an assemblage of crystals that have probably submerged in concentrated solutions to encourage crystalline growth. It is sloppy.
I submitted payment of USD $83.25 on August 16, 2018
I would like my money refunded and you can instruct me what to do with this purchase.
I purchased this through liveauctioners.com
This item was not what was advertised. It was not a natural crystal specimen but one that was assembled, "manufactured, " poorly. Please refund my money.
Hello John,
I am sorry to hear about your experience, could you please send an email to service@jasper52.com so that we can get images of the item and see how it is different than described.

product and shipping scam
Do not buy from Jasper52, I will try to do an unbiased review however I cannot recommend Jasper52 to anyone, their products are amazing and prices are great, but the thing is it is not worth the risk and you will be scammed out of more more than you need to give them, in my opinion Jasper52 is essentially eBay with less security. If you do purchase from Jasper52 make sure you find out the actual shipping costs for the items you buy as you will be overcharged.
I will give quick reasons as to why you should never do business with Jasper52 and will explain these reasons in more detail after if you want to read on to find out more:
- I have made four purchases from this site and so far every single one has had a problem
- You will be overcharged for shipping so that Jasper52 can take more money from you
- You may not receive what you paid for
- The company is comfortable with lying to customers which leads me to believe that their products may be fakes and replicas, the fact that individual sellers send you the products means that it is impossible for Jasper52 to guarantee you authenticity
- You will be going back and forth with customer service with little progress (however they will act as though they are doing everything they can) and most likely won't get your problem resolved the way you would like, they also seem to ignore certain emails as I have requested a refund for my overcharged shipping 7 times now, it also took them two weeks before they told me that the sword I paid for had already been sold to another buyer
- I have also read multiple other reviews where people say they pay for an item that Jasper52 doesn't possess and Jasper52 will reply saying it is a mistake and they didn't know. I paid for a sword, but they didn't have it so I got a refund, then they put that same sword up for auction again, ok so maybe that was a mistake, but the lot passed and then they put the sword up for auction again?! and not only that, I have contacted them countless times to tell them that that sword should not be up for auction, but they won't take it down, when someone pays for that sword then what? They simply just couldn't care less.
The low prices and good looking products is how the site is still active, I have made excuses for them myself to convince myself to continue to buy from them since I like their products, eventually I needed to realise that it is not worth the risk, the site is essentially a less secure copy of eBay, they couldn't care less for their customers and it is impossible for them to guarantee authenticity since they don't possess the products being sold and they will overcharge your shipping more times than not. The fact that I am someone who really wanted to buy from them, have made excuses for them myself to convince myself to continue buying from them and even told them I was planning on being a customer for a long time, yet have decided to never buy again, shows how badly this company treats its customers.
If you go onto their "no" reserve gemstone auction you will be charged an extra 10 dollars for each gemstone because they supposedly can only do separate shipping for each gemstone even though they all come from the same place.
So for example lets say you buy 10 gemstones each 2 dollars, so you have to pay 20 dollars plus 15% premium and a shipping price which isn't too bad right? Except Jasper52 will request you pay separate shipping for each gemstone, so thats 100 dollars for shipping suddenly, I haven't paid it but judging by experience I imagine the items will be shipped together anyway since they were for my mother when she bought some gemstones and paid more than she needed to for shipping. Shipping an envelope from India to France is less than 10 dollars, lets say with all the stones together the shipping is 15-20 dollars, that means Jasper52 or their seller has just stolen 80 dollars from you. So instead of adding a 10 dollar reserve or even indicating that each gemstone must be shipped seperately they decide to do it in the most deceptive way to try to scam customers that aren't careful about what they pay for.
BIGGEST PROBLEM: Keep an eye on their shipping prices, they will overcharge you every time in order to make more money, if you do purchase from Jasper52 I advise you get in contact with whoever the seller of your product is and find out the actual price of shipping because 9 times out of 10 you will be paying more than you need to. THIS IS THEFT… (proof of this problem below)
You may not receive what you paid for: I have paid for a sword and received the wrong sword, when I asked them to send the right sword they told me it had already been sold to another buyer. I saw that sword again up for auction the next day, the one I paid for, so I told them to take it down if it had been sold, they told me it was a mistake, but they didn't take it down. The lot passed luckily, after some time I accepted the wrong sword with a discount and once I accepted the wrong sword they put the sword I paid for up for auction once more. Kind of strange to me that they could make the same mistake twice, either they didn't want to sell me the sword for so little so they decided to lie to me and break the law, or they are selling products on their site that they don't possess.
Sellers come first: I have had a seller sell me a product they don't possess yet the seller received no consequences for that, but when I am charged 40 dollars for 10 dollar shipping and I refuse to pay I am then declined from multiple auctions. I have spoken with the seller of the items and they were happy to ship the gemstones together in one single package, but Jasper52 insisted that the seller would only be able to deliver us the gemstones separately, again, more theft.
The items for sale that they claim to be authentic can easily be replicas, the reason being that if they do in fact even have a professional review the items, the items are then sent back to the seller, meaning that the seller could send authentic items to get evaluated and then when a customer pays they send them a replica, there is no way that Jasper52 could prevent this, this could be what happened with the sword I paid for as I didn't receive what I paid for and got one that was a little bit similar. Even if it was Jasper52 sending the items out directly, I'm not even sure i would trust that the items are authentic as they have seemed to be comfortable with lying to customers.
SERIOUS SHIPPING PROBLEM PROOF: I have been charged 40 dollars for 10 dollar shipping as I have said above at the request of Jasper52, this was the first time it happened.
I then paid for a diamond from Canada, paid 40 dollar shipping and when the diamond arrived luckily it came with an invoice in the package. the price of the diamond and the price of shipping which was 15 dollars, so overcharged by 25 dollars, its not even overcharged by a few dollars, they just try to take as much as they can. The fact that the company I bought the diamond from included an invoice with the actual shipping price listed shows that Jasper52 knew they were overcharging me and only paid the sellers of the diamond 15 dollars and kept the rest for themselves, this is a premeditated scam.
The second diamond I paid for is even worse, the shipping price listed as 35 dollars to America from Belgium and prices to other countries was unlisted, living in France, a neighbouring country to Belgium I obviously knew that the shipping would be cheaper to deliver to France than America, however when I received the invoice Jasper52 tried to charge me 90 dollars for shipping. So somehow a 7, 500km delivery is 1/3 the price of a 750 kilometre delivery.
I obviously refused and requested a normal shipping price to which they apologised and said they don't know why the seller requested such a high shipping price and charged me 35 dollars for shipping instead. I don't believe their lies anymore. I believe the 90 dollar shipping quote came directly from Jasper52 and the nerve that they have to still charge me 35 dollars for shipping after I point out their scam is unbelievable, shipping from Belgium is no more than 20 euros, I imagine it will be 15 euros. I will be getting in contact with the seller of the diamond and the shipping company to find out exactly how much the shipping was and then I will update this review.
Marked as resolved as I was trying to find a way to delete the review, the review was written in anger right after Jasper52 had caused me lots of problems so the review is exaggerated, I have informed complaintsboard that the review is inaccurate and written out of anger, however they refuse to remove it, I believe that you should not trust reviews on complaintsboard as they are obviously more than happy to have reviews that are untrue displayed on their site.
I don't know I feel this complaint to be pretty accurate. It's not their fault, it's third-party, they rewrite definitions in Websters dictionary...all of it so they don't have to do the right thing. I'm all for consumerism, just not scam artists
I have been examining supposed Viking, Roman and Medieval Jeweller being sold by Jasper52. The low prices are always a red flag with ancient jewellery, as is the absence of any provenance. I have been dealing in and restoring ancient jewellery for over 20 years and can say, without hesitation, that 100% of the ancient jewellery items for sale by Jasper52 are modern Bulgarian and Ukrainian fakes. Fakes from these countries have been flooding the market since around 2000 (although probably earlier) and they are easily distinguished from the real thing by their unrealistic styling, fake patina, lack of real wear marks, consistency of manufacture, weird sizes and the fact they all seem to have a "restored gilded" surface; you can't restore a surface that never existed. I haven't seen a single item on Jasper52 that I would consider to be authentic.
items not as described
Terrible experience. First of all, their "vintage gravures" auctions are literally vintage images pulled from books/magazines. The seller of the prints for these auctions, vintagegravures.com/yesterdayspapers. biz, even states this on their site. I bought an image that started it was printed in Switzerland and was a vintage fine art gravure, when in reality is a commercially printed image printed in California. The book that it was printed in, which has over 40 plates in it, can be bought for $300, however the estimate for this one image I purchased was $100-$140? Very misleading. I contacted Jasper52 the day I received the item, and they never responded. I emailed them over the course of a few days, and they are just completely ignoring me. Very disappointed considering they are part of liveauctioneers to which I have been a well standing member for years. Why offer a return policy of 5 days if you just ignore people? Not sure what to say, I was encouraged by the positive reviews, but here we are almost a week after emailing Jasper52 and no reply. (it is worth mentioning that they replied to me twice in only a couple of hours when I was inquiring to items prior to the auction.) I do not recommend them at all, they don't stand behind their items or descriptions like they pretend to. Great customer service prior to the auction, which is then literally non-existent after the auction. Totally bs.

lithographs auctions
Buyer beware! Caution in doing business with this company. I purchased a lithograph from their online auction at live auctioneers. The description stated that it was hand signed in addition to being signed in the print. This is not what I received whatsoever .
It looks like a Home printed poster, from a higher resolution graphic. With their description did not match what I received. The advertise policyto refund or remedy if the item is not as described is not true. After numerous emails back and forth with the auction house they continued to state that it is hand signed. They finally decided not to respond to any more of my emails, and provided no refund .
Do not buy anything from an online auction from this auction house.
I have been a great customer; if I have items I have won
I have been a good customer — if I have unpaid items it is because I have not been notified of winning — I am in a position to pay for all that I win; please contact me and I will make my account viable!

At Jasper52 accurate cataloging and buyer satisfaction are of utmost importance to us. Before we knew this online complaint was posted, we accepted the return of the print for a refund. When we received the print, we sent the item to a 3rd party expert who determined that the lithograph is indeed hand-signed. As all items are reviewed by experts prior to listing, this determination means that now 3 experts and the seller are all in agreement about the accuracy of the item description.
Jasper52 offers an authenticity guarantee and a return policy. Specifically, if an item does not conform to its description, buyers may return the item for a full refund. Even though this bidder did not substantiate their claim that the item was not as described, we accepted the return of the print for a refund because we care about building long term relationships with buyers. We hope Oyrech returns to shop with us again.

Hello,
Sorry to learn about your experience. The items do not all reside in our NY location and are shipped by the consignor to your destination, hence why the amounts on shipping can change.
Also wanted to point out that we can still issue shipping labels for return shipping for buyers who do not want to pay shipping upfront. We are able to issue FedEx labels for those buyers especially if the consignor is overseas and can’t provide a return label.
Please reach out to service@jasper52.com that way we can assist you with your concerns moving forward.
