Earlier this year I returned a Jeraco truck cap to my local dealer, Just For Trucks of Malta, New York located near Sara toga Springs.
The cap was returned because of a serious factory manufacturing defect. The dealer, Just For Trucks, gave me written assurance that the cap was being accepted for return to the factory for a "full refund." Instead, Just For Trucks gave me a credit less a 15% "restocking fee," a penalty of over $212 for my return defective and unusable merchandise. The "restocking fee" included not only 15% of the cost of the merchandise but 15% of the New York State Sales tax as well. It has been necessary to pursue legal action for full restitution.
Upon examining the Jeraco "Lifetime Limited Warranty" it specifies that: "This warranty applies only to material and labor and does not cover transportation cost or installation cost such as removing or reinstalling the truck cap." The Jeraco warranty further specifies that the: "Purchaser is responsible for: Paying all transportation charges for delivering the truck cap or component or accessory to and from the selling dealer or any Jeraco facility." Thus if there is a factory defect, the customer still pays a hefty charge which is not disclosed to the customer in advance.
Jeraco's warranty imposes unspecified transportation charges upon the customer for warranty repairs. The dealer is probably imposing the "restocking fee" to recoup some of the costs levied upon him by the Jeraco cap manufacturer.
Based on the shifting of unspecified transportation costs, to the customer for warranty repair, I cannot recommend truck caps or any other products from Jeraco Enterprises of Milton, PA. Based on the anti-customer attitude of just For Trucks, I cannot recommend them for consumers seeking to purchase truck accessories. I suggest buyers avoid both Jeraco products and Just for Trucks.

BY LAW IT IS THE CONSUMERS RESPONSABILITY TO RESAERCH ANY AND ALL PRODUCTS, WARANTIES, AND POLICIES BEFOREHAND. IT IS NOT ALWAYS EASY ESPECIALLY WHEN THE UNFORSEEN HAPPENS AND YOU END UP IN THIS TYPE OF POSTION. WHAT WAS THE SPECIFIC DEFECT AND WHAT WAS THE REMEDEY FOR THIS INSTANCE? YOU FAILED TO METINTION THESE DETAILS. MOST TRUCK CAP COMPANIES DO NOT USE THE " BIG BOX STORE "APROACH WITH PRODUCT ISSUES AND WILL CHALLENGE YOUR OPINION IF THEY FEEL IT IS WRONG AND IF IT WAS A PRODUCT FLAW OR ISSUSE WOULD HAVE FIXED OR REPLACED THE UNIT AT NO COST TO YOU. IT SEEMS LIKE YOU MIGHT HAVE HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE "FIX" TO THE SITUATION. AND THE RESTOCKING FEE MIGHT HAVE COVERED THE SHIPPING AND RESTOCKING FEE CHARGED BY THE MANUFACTURE IF THEY WERE LUCKY. WHAT PROBABLRY HAPPENED WAS JERACHO WOULD NOT TAKE THE UNIT BACK UNLESS A RESTOCKING FEE WAS PAID BECAUSE MOST OF THE TIME THEY CONSIDER THESE CAPS SPECIAL ORDER AND WILL NOT TAKE THEM BACK PERIOD AND THE DEALER ENDS UP WITH THE UNIT SITTING ON THEIR LOT. SORRY YOU HAD A BAD EXPERIANCE TRY A LEER CAP IF YOU ARE STILL IN THE MARKET THEY HAVE A MORE FLEXABLE POLICY AND TEND TO TRY TO TAKE THE CONSUMERS SIDE WITH ALL ISSUES AND TYPICALY ADDRESS THEM QUICKLY. BUT MAKE SURE THAT YOU CHECK OUT THE STORES POLICY FIRST AND IF YOU LIKE THE STORE SOMETIMES THE POLICY IS NEGOTAIBLE WITH THE MANAGER IF THERE IS AN ARANMENT AHEAD OF TIME.
I had something quite the same happen to me, for me it was a defective coating, I will never recommend nor buy another jeraco product again, if they can not back their product, they do not need the business.
We bought a Jeraco Truck Cap from Superior Interiors in Hooksett, NH and we have had nothing but grief with it. Shortly after we had the truck cap we discovered it leaked. Superior Interiors contacted Jeraco and they said that it was defective rubber gaskets around the windows. We had that replaced, however it still leaked and we had to have it shipped to Jeraco. We were without the truck cap for over a month. When we got it back there was all kinds of dinks, dents, scratches (even on the windows), holes in the screens and even the light inside the truck cap was all banged up. We did complain about this and it fell on deaf ears and we complained about the truck cap still leaking. Both Jeraco and Superior Interiors claimed that it was condensation due to the air pockets in the truck bed. We went to another company after researching things and had the air pockets sealed up so the bed of the truck is air and water tight. We washed the truck and cap and it still leaks. Right now Jeraco and Superior Interiors will not do anything for us and I have written to the Pennsylvania Better Business Bureau and Consumer Protection Division. I haven't heard anything yet, but I need to get the word out in the world never buy a Jeraco Product or do business with Superior Interiors.
jeraco dealer put a new cap onmy 2017 dodge ram and they mess up the door on the cap, using saw and grinde to make it fit i wanted my money back, they said they would get me a new door, still waiting for it four week later, called them and email them, next step go to credit card company, louzy services, truck caps unlimited in west wareham, mass stay away
I had terrible issues at milton plant as well. They messed up the electrical connection and then because I had only intermittently installed the cap tried to claim that it was too long a period of time gone by. All they had to connect was the 3rd brake light! They agreed to make the electrical connection right but when the simple didnt work they wanted me to pay them. Why would I pay them to screw it up again? I took it to the local ford dealer and for $7 dollars of wire and $73 dollars of labor they fixed the 3rd brake light. All in all the guys working there were short a few crayons in the box. This goes for management as well as the workers.
