anyone with a chase bank overdraft beware
Anyone with a chase Bank account beware,
I had an account with chase bank and due to a work problem went overdrawn to the sum of $90.00, that not much I hear you say, because that what I said, well I now have my account frozen, and I now have to pay back $1535.98 in fees and charges, they also have place a financial block or black ball on my SSN so I am unable to open another bank account anywhere else. Here is the kicker because my wife’s account was linked to mine they have frozen hers too, we are expecting our military retirement benefits to be deposited in to our accounts and unable to stop the transfer. It takes up to 10 days to stop Direct deposits, so by the 1st June 2012 Chase bank will have confiscated $6535.98 for an overdraft of $90.00 and they are telling me that once all overdraft and administration fee are paid they are closing my account. It has taken almost a month to even get this far my wife and I have not been able to pay any of our bills and we have a mortgage payment to make and with zero funds, well you can see where that will lead too. I have talked to chase until I am horse, and have even gone to my local branch and tried to talk to my local branch manager, and as nice as she was told me, this is a head office thing and there is nothing I can do. The only thing left for me to do is hire a lawyer to resolve this, when I contacted one he would take the case @ $300.00 per hour and requested 4 hours up front, in other words I am screwed, and the mega bank wins. When I said that I would take my story to the media they said good, do so it will stop others out there who have overdrafts to pay them off or they will get the same thing.
I have written this in the hope that someone out there in Facebook land can help us, fight a mega bank for nothing more but justice.

chase bank scam with suspicious activity online
Chase contacted me in Dec. 2011 about suspicious activity on my acct. At which time my debit card was cancelled and a new card issued. In Feb. 2012 I went to use my new card and the transaction was denied.2 months after the initial card was cancelled the same company was allowed the charge $2000.00 plus dollars. Now 3 days later I’m disputing the charge. Howcome a company was allowed to use a card that was cancelled and no longer valid 2 moths later. I’m furious. And have no access to money. The next step for me is to hire a lawyer to sue Chase Bank for not complying to secure banking as prpomised and the company who made the unauthorized charge.
I am told they are waiting on a sales report; from a company whom don’t have authorization? I will be waiting forever. This is the worst service and experience I’ve ever had. This error shows how incompetent your business is. It’s common sense that a bum would undetstandx if a card is cancelled, it shouldn’t be used. Period. Why does Chase Bank not get it? Card cancelled 12/2011, charge 2/2012. What’s wrong w that picture?
inflated escrow spreads
Chase keeps charging us escrow shortfall spreads. No matter how much we try to catch up they take advantage of FACT that no one can possibly know from one year or month to the next what a municipality is going to add to homeowners' property taxes, thereby causing huge escrow shortfalls. Chase is now charging us a SECOND $2, 700 escrow shortfall spread for the next 41 months; we are still paying the first $2, 600 one!
Damn! Why isn't something being done about this? Why are JP Morgan Chase lobbyists PHYSICALLY LOCATED INSIDE DC OFFICES? Our mortgage jumped FORTY-FIVE PERCENT! Even Save the Dream/Restoring Stability cannot or will not help us with this escrow demand; if we don't come up w/ the lump sum $2, 700 in 2 weeks, it goes on escrow for next four damn years.
IS JP MORGAN CHASE COMPENSATING FOR ITS ASSININE BLUNDERS BY GOUGING HOMEOWNERS NOW!
DAMN!

chase bank has closed my ira without telling me, and it's caused all kinds of problems
My husband had an account wth Washington Mutual but they merged with Chase. Chase sent a letter to my house claiming that unless they hear from us, they will transfer the money to the State for being inactive. I just found out about this when I received a 1099 claiming a distribution money that I never received. I went to the Chase and asked them to correct this mistake and re-open the IRA account. They refuse to do it. I ended up payting taxes for money that the state still has it. Chase bank has closed my IRA without telling me, and it’s caused all kinds of problems. This scam has to go stop now.
I’ve been a Chase customer for many years, with thousands of dollars in accounts all over the place. It’s not reason why they can’t go into my account and clear up this mess, my money is literally depending on this. I called their customer service phone number, but got nothing but frustration in return. How else am I supposed to fix these problems with the taxes coming in April. The money still is in there, even though the letter says otherwise.
I will never do business with chase bank again
I was treated terribly at the Fry’s grocery store branch on 22nd and Harrison in Tucson AZ (9401 E 22nd St, 85710). Both the managers were rude and really very incompetent. By the end our interaction had become spiteful and refused to correct branches mistakes. I cannot believe that a business could operate with this little regard for a customer. When I requested to close my account due to a lack of trust of the people at the branch they refused to close the account. I did persist and was able to close the account.
The employees were disingenuous when signing me up to say the least, as well as rude and as i said, incompetent. I was informed they had lost one of my signatures for the account, I was advised that my cash deposit would be available to pay my electric bill. It was not, I was then told it would be available the next morning, it was not. They were unable to work their own computer until I advised them it was likely a loose connection to the monitor. They would ignore me and talk over me consistently even raising their voice to do so. Rosalie would eventually concede my request to close the account only to leave and be replaced who would then refuse.
My drivers license was taken and not returned. They refused to assist me with the paying of my electric bill through the chase web site unless I agreed to keep the account open long term. When I requested the amount of my cash deposit be returned I was refused repeatedly. When I mentioned that if I was personally to behave this way I would be breaking the law, my money was was all but thrown at me. I was told that a request to change the destination of my existing direct deposit had been made and the branch would not correct this error, rather I would need to. Although, what exactly was meant was not explained to me.
When I returned to retrieve my drivers license I found them whispering and laughing amongst themselves. regrettably, I failed to note the name of one knowledgeable representative who did not seem hostile and did sound knowledgeable. Needless to say I will never do business with Chase bank again.
frustrated with chase bank loan modification
I have been on the modification game with Chase since Jan 2010. On several occasions I supplied every document and they claimed it was either least or never received. I got so fed up with them that I recorded a phone conversation on my cell phone with a rep. I begged several agents if I could start sending in something to keep from getting too far behind and they said no cause it would interfere with mod process. Then finally after all this time I get a letter saying I’m not eligible for mod. Is there any real help out there or is this process a hoax? I am now out of work but getting unemployment and they will not use this as income.
Funny how they have me the runaround when I was working and giving all kinds of excuses regarding my documents. Chase really needs to be investigated. Interested in my recorded phone call with chase rep…
Sounds like Chase still hasn't gotten it together. I'm reading these comments to gather info on the best ways to file complaints just because I am sooooo angry. Bottom line, they promised all was in order on a mod and at the last hour it fell out due to something really stupid, but regulations with Harp are regulations. Too bad they didn't figure it out sooner. Then they said no problem to just make it a simple refi... yeah, right. 4 months later I finally signed loan docs, 3 MONTHS of automatic payments on the new loan made, they reversed the funds, reinstating the old loan and telling me I'm seriously in default due to their reversal on THEIR decision for accepting my signature on the loan docs for the property in the Living Trust that I'm a co-Trustee on. THIS is for a simple change of interest rate only! So I try to pay the difference to the OLD loan amount, trying to give them money for the old loan payment at the bank AND over the phone to their customer service dept to bring the loan current-- I do want it current so there's no problem to get a Payoff for the new refinance FROM ANYONE ELSE BUT CHASE, and they won't accept my payment, saying that since it is in "litigation" that only the Legal Dept can handle it and they will call... yeah, its been days and they haven't. There is NO MORE PERSONAL SERVICE OR COMMON SENSE that brings a simple refi mishandled by several people reversing their decisions, to the point of making one of their loyal, well monied clients completely frustrated, mistrusting and having utter contempt of the bank.
charges a fee to cash a chase bank check
I received a Chase bank personal check from a friend for the sale of a motor scooter. I went to the local Chase branch in Elizabethtown, Ky to cash it out to insure there were no problems with the check. I was informed that I would need to pay $6 since I did not have an account there even with the check being drawn from them. What a rip off, I know they would not do that to another bank. I love my credit union across the street.

HOW TO GET AROUND CHASE BANK CASHING FEES!
I am a General Contractor:
I simply took the check back and told the bank manager that I was going back to the check writer and charge them the $8.00 fee 'for not having an account at my bank'. He told me that ‘I didn’t have to do that’….I told him ‘yes I did! I was not going to pay a fee for cashing their member's check when they have already paid $2.00 to $3.00 to obtain and write the check to start with!’ And, ‘this absurd rule of theirs is the one reason I didn’t have an account there. It’s stupid!’ When I took the check back she said she did not know the bank was doing that, and was not going to pay Chase $10.00 or $11.00 every time she write a check. SHE MOVED HER ACCOUNT!
I have about 25 customers with Chase accounts. Each time I add $8.00 to $10.00 to their estimate to cover their Chase check cashing fee. I am not pay for them to maintain a Chase checking account! Chase cash more than 2, 0000.00 checks yearly ...that's $25, 000.00 a year that we are paying for their members to maintain their Chase checking account. 'WHO DO CHASE THINK THEY ARE? THE IRS! SEND THE FEE BACK TO THEIR CUSTOMER….. DON’T PAY IT!...LET THEIR CUSTOMER DEAL WITH IT!
Again. Why didn't you cash it at your credit union where you are a customer?
I tried to cash an insurance refund check at chase bank, same thing, even though it was a chase bank check they wanted $6 to cash it since I was not a customer. I filed a complaint at the main bank ofiice. I will never use Chase bank for a mortgage or anyting else again.
Why didn't you cash it at your credit union where you are a customer?
not receiving my $ after closing account
I've closed my business account with Chase after three years of terrible service, but only because I moved to Boston, where there are no Chase banks. I called to ask how to go about closing my account, and they told me I could do it over the phone and they would send my the remainder of my balance. This was late January 2012. I waited and waited to receive a check for more than $3300 and nothing arrived in the mail.
When I called in mid-March, I was told it was probably lost in the mail and that they would issue me another one. I waited again, but no check arrived even after a month passed.
I called back in early April. They said I should have received the replacement check (!) but since I did not, they would send me another check and I would receive it in 5-7 days (because they WOULD NOT use priority mail or certified mail to send this out, even though it was lost the first two times!)
Mid-April, I receive an "affidavit and indemnity agreement" document, basically stating that the check was lost and that I had to sign it, get it NOTARIZED and send it back. I was furious because I was just expecting to finally receive my check as promised.
The lady helping me kept calling the National Accounts Closing department, who WILL NOT talk directly to clients. They refused to send out my check without me sending back the notarized document. No explanation as to why two sent checks never made it to me, why NOBODY mentioned I was supposed to receive this affidavit and send it back to get my money, why I was promised on TWO OCCASIONS that a replacement check would be coming my way in 5-7 days.
It's been almost three months since I've closed my account, and I have yet to receive my closing balance from Chase. I find it hard to believe that TWO checks they sent out were lost in the mail in two months time. They're just keeping my money hostage and are forcing me to pay for notaries and wait longer and longer, even if this is COMPLETELY THEIR FAULT.
I've been on the phone an average of 45min each time and EACH PERSON I talk to every time tells me different things, promises different things and disputes anything the previous person told me ("I am not sure why they told you that!", "I am not sure why you didn't receive the affidavit form the first time we put in the request for lost check", "I am not sure why they told you you'd be receiving a check instead of an affidavit form" etc)
I wish there was something I could do to make Chase pay for making me waste so much time and energy on GETTING MY OWN MONEY back from them. I knew they had terrible customer service, but I figured that it was just because of the overall poor quality of bank service in NYC. But this exceeds any issue or frustration I've ever had with them.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I encountered exactly the same thing! Literally word by word of your complaint! Never got to talk to any specialist directly but the customer service, always kept me waiting for a specialist from the department in charge to call me back, which never took place, and then I had to call the customer service and told me story all over again! Now I am at the point that they asked me to send the affidavit and indemnity agreement back and they will issue my another check. So far, I've paid for all the international calls I made for hours and hours and the fee of notarization and FedEx to mail the affidavit back for they FAULT! I'm overseas now, no plans to go back to America in a short wile, so I can't close the account in person. Feel really hopeless that I can only make calls and wait! Did you receive your check in the end?
chase closed my account 2 weeks ago, the lady at the bank told me I will receive the balance in my account in 10 working days. it's been over that. where the f---k is my money chase?
They are holding my money hostage as well. Never upon closure of an account have I had a bank tell me they have to wait 3 weeks to send funds out. Absolutely ridiculous!
you should have closed your account in person.
cheating customers
When I went to my local Chase bank and asked about current interest rate on a 15 year fixed mortgage I was first told a lower rate than what they would give me and was baited to begin the process by a $495 processing fee reduction if we belonged to a union. I was excited that the rates were lower than I had and the fees were lower than I expected. So I said lets see an estimate of total costs to get the new loan. I already have my home mortgage with them and do all my banking with them so I thought it would be very easy to get it done. Boy was I wrong. The estimate settlement charges was to be $3700. Although the loan process has changed since I last refinanced the process to get from the start to the closing documents was long and drawn out. I provided all they asked for in a timely manor but after 56 days they finally said we were ready to close but we did not qualify for the loan discount fee they baited me with in the beginning. I asked why and was told that while we were union members we did not belong to the right type of union. (AFL-CFL). This was never disclosed that this was required at the initial meeting. The loan officer even sent me an e-mail saying that she was going to honor the pricing quoted. when the settlement statement was prepared the the fee was now $595. They would not honor the quote. They also inflated the final estimated settlement charges to $6500. There was no way I was going to allow this without explanation. I sent an e-mail per the request of the senor loan manager with detailed charged that needed to be explained. Instead of answering my questions they just responded to one or two questions and cited policy legal fine print. they also stated that I needed to sign right away as there were up against a deadline. This only frustrated me further. I responded that this was not an acceptable response and I would not be closing my loan with them. I have yet to get an explanation to the charges and how the process went so wrong. I have contacted the manager by e-mail and have received no response back. I have called the number on the web site to file a complaint at a higher level and was told they would be contacting me next week. I have also filed a complaint with the BBB in hopes they can help settle the dispute.
My final settlement charges should have be less than $4000 plus payoff. They tried to cheat me and would not explain the differences between the estimated charges and the final settlement statement.

double charge
I am furious, they double charged me over $200.00! My account is now in the negative, and I was hit with hundreds of dollars in fees for being negative, and making purchases with money I did not have. But I have the money, the I was double charged so that's what put me negative. I am freaking out, this is the only bank account I have and I do not know what to do. I called the banking number and talked to numerous people and they told me " you have to fill out a claim form, to prove to us that you did not make the purchase. Then it will be reviewed and investigated and if we find out we did double charge you, and you did not make the purchase, we will give you a credit in 8-12 weeks". Omg can someone please please help me, they stole my money and they will only give me my money back if I jump through hoops for them? And 8-12 weeks? This is my money. Omg someone please help, what should I do?
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Please note that if you made a purchase with your Chase debit card over the weeked (March 31-April 1), these transactions were also apparently affected by the glitch.
Did you make the purchase on April 2 and are you in NY, CT, or NJ? If so, Chase's system had a glitch that caused double charges that day and they are working to reverse those charges (as well as any related fees that you incurred because of their glitch). I would call Chase back and see if you can speak with a supervisor.
mishandling of funds

payment delay
The protection services associated with a lot of these credit card companies are outside 3rd party companies and for the most part, they suck!
I was stuck on the other end of the US due to a snow storm. Had to get a car rental, hotel, food and wait for a flight out the next day. Used my Chase Presidential plus credit card, and submitted the claim which includes reimbursement for losses under their so called trip protection program. Was forwarded to their hired out company --enhancement services.
They tried every angle in the book to deny the claim. First, they wanted the actual reason as to why the flight was cancelled. I get a letter from Continental that day stating they cancelled the flight in writing and signed on Continental letter head. Result - claim denied because the reason for the cancellation was not given. I get back on the phone with this company and ask what would be a reason as to why a claim would be denied for a cancelled flight - funny thing - they couldn't give me a reason because every cancellation from weather to thermonuclear war is covered.
Then they try to deny my food bill because I did not have the actual itemized receipts of what I ingested. Thank God everything is computerized so getting the info from the restaurant after the fact was no issue.
2 stikes = now they try the - you used continental points for a part of the trip and now you have to prove that the points earned are from using the actual chase continental presidential plus card. Are you F%$#%^ kidding me!? You work there I say - how the hell else were the points in my account when this is the only card I have with continental - look it up! They then ask me to get written confirmation that every charge I made that accounted for a point was from using the card... WTF! I say you call and I have to ask to speak to a manager who was unavailable.
Had to get Continental on the phone, Chase on the phone, managers on the phone, hotel employees to confirm my stay on the phone, restaurants on the phone etc... Just to get this thing through for final review and it took months. Was finally able to get my money for a Chase card that I spend $375 a year for the privilege of using. Chase enhancement services was kicking and screaming all the way and made the whole process next to impossible to utilize unless you were willing to spend A LOT of personal time. Most people would give up and walk which is what these companies hope you will do. A lot of aggravation and wasted time from a company that promises service but promotes sneaky cost saving practices such as this.
compromise of pin number & credit card
I judy a poston have, talk to David Howell about this matter however I do have a payee rep and how he wish to distribute my money is our personal decision I had ask attorney Dujuan L. Bouvean to start direct deposit before thankgiving 2011 and to no avail it took the week of February Chase Bank finally did our request.Mr. Dujuan Bouvean given me permisson to use my money or (card) since december my acct ending in 5550 had another acct ending in 3723 that was link to my 5550 which on the 3rd of december of 2012 my acct was compromise and I was in a litigation anfully favored by the Federal Judge in 2010. Someone knew my pin number and had much credit card also my rep knew nothing of my lawsuit, is Attorney Patrick Mulvany in I ndiapolis indiana

legal holds
I have been a loyal costumer of Washington Mutual for years. When they were bought out by J.P. Morgan and switched to Chase, I was less than thrilled and have been feeling the consequences ever since. The smaller occurrences of overdraft fees and the like are less important, but recently I had to deal with a series of bureaucratic difficulties relating to a complete miscommunication between the two states I have lived in (Washington and California) in relation to a car I sold four years ago.
That matter is lengthy, but because of it, ALL if my funds were placed on hold and Chase charged me $125 for the "inconvenience" of placing my funds on hold. I know that this is their policy and completely legal, but this is the most corrupt unfair action I have had a bank do to me yet. I can't switch banks at the moment for convenience reasons, but to fine me such a huge amount (I had barely more than that amount in my account to begin with) and without ANY notice. THAT seems illegal to me. Like I said, I don't care if technically it is legal. If an individual charged you over $100 to keep you from touching the rest of your money, who wouldn't be furious?
The bank isn't allowed to inform you they might place your funds on hold in case the person goes and takes all of their money out. Yet if they had at least mailed me a letter informing me that if I did not take action I would be charged the $125 fee, I could have taken the proper measures. When I called customer service they didn't know why; I had to do all of the investigation myself which took me a full business day and an additional two payments of $99 and $52 to the DMV. They said that they sent me a notice THE DAY THEY PUT MY FUNDS ON HOLD and only AFTER I received notice my funds were on hold. This is not notice, as it implies one was told ahead of time. I don't see how this isn't complete sociopathic behavior and immoral monetary rape!

I have owned two chase cards for 12 years, and never been late. Both cards were suspended, because I paid to for in advance. Example, if i paid my chase bill the 25th of April for May 17th and most cases pay 2 times more than the amount due, that payment is credit to April and not May, because thats to for in advance, plus i am charged a late fee for May. This damaged my credit rating, and I think this is totally wrong.
fraud claim rejection
My boyfriend recently filed a fraud claim because someone withdrew all of his money at an ATM, at a time of day when he was at work. It must have been some kind of card-reading scam because he has never given his PIN number out to anyone.
Chase recently rejected his fraud claim for some inexplicable reason and now he is taking his one day off work to go to the police to file a report.
I don't understand why Chase would reject his claim but it's caused headache and stress. Not to mention that he has no money now.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
If they rejected the claim, I'm sure they gave some reason...
very bad business
It would be nice to have someone tell you where to put your money and to have it safe there----on the other hand--put your money with Chase---and kiss it goodby---Chase has to be the worst bank I have ever dealth with---totally incompetant, after many phone calls, personal visits to the branches, certified letters with signature confirmation, emails thru their system------STILL NO ANSWERS----STILL NO DOCUMENTATION, Even their business bankers at their local branches stated to me "They have no clue how to explain my statement "-----Sought an attorney's advice---Chase does not even respond to attorney's---Was told today by attorney----GET OUT OF CHASE-anyway you can.

I closed my account with Chase and about a month later I was getting letters regarding INS charges'? I was what that account was closed ...needless to say Chase came up with some ### that the account Reopened it self! I was like what by itself!
Chase is. Scam!
Not to mention they hold my mortgage not by my choice but Chase has lost or applied my payment 3x to someone else's account and then they expected me to do the foot work to find and provide proof of payment!
Really I told Chase you lost my payments why should I do your job!
I called my bank Randolph's Credit Union and they took care of everything... because Chase was to lazy...
loan modification
Worked for the last 2 years on a mortgage modification.
Submitted thousand of pages of documents.
Only to lose the house because the chase employee was not doing her job.
Had a canned response "I told you there are no guarantees"
I was submitting more documents after the sheriff's date passed(not aware of sale)
I was only notified 3 weeks later that the house was sold at auction
When I called them they acted like they did nothing wrong
Would not take responsibility for there action or lack of action

I've had a whole lot of issues with Chase over a modification request that was denied and extremely rude representatives. You name it, I experienced it. I applied in January and just got the denial letter today 7/12 and every time I called for an update or explanation, I was on the phone for a minimum of 1 1/2 hours. When they get tired of you, they transfer you to a number that's out of service so you have to call back and start over. I mailed several complaint letters to the corporate office in New York and I've received phone calls and letters from the corporate office apologizing, but they still didn't approve the loan modification.I can prove financial hardship, but I have equity in my home so they were pushing me to refinance for 30 years instead of approving the modification. I should be back on my feet in 6 months so to refinance for 30 years over 6 months seemed extreme to me. It seems to me they were pushing for a refinance so they could make a lot more $ off my loan in the long run. When I said that to a representative his reply was "Why do you care if Chase makes more money off your loan? You get to keep your house, that's all you should be concerned with." I only had 9 years left to pay so I would be adding 21 years to my loan. They also flagged my account as if it was 90 days past due even though it was only 2 weeks past due. I asked why they did that and it's standard procedure if you apply for a loan mod. They also took away my ability to pay online so I was forced to call in my payment and they were really rude when I called in, asking me 5 different times if I still lived in my home and if it was in good condition. I finally got tired of dealing with them so I decided to go ahead and refinance for 15 years, but with another company so as of Aug 1, I will no longer be a Chase customer and I could not be happier. Here are the names of two people who have contacted me from corp Darryll Johnson [protected] ext 1630 and Ashley Hall [protected].

What a dilemma! Of course, I agree with “The Facts Only Please, ” don’t overdraft!” Now to your opportunities: 1. Your attorney sounds a bit on the high side unless he will not charge if he does win and if he wins and the award includes his fees. 2. The U. S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is taking complaints on “overdrafts” this month and you can call them at [protected]. Unfortunately, I think they only listen to the complaint. 3. Since you are a veteran, you can call the VA and see if they can help. 4. You can call the state Attorney General and tell your story. If the AG is appointed by or elected as a Republican … it is unlikely that he/she will help. 5 Call the National Consumer Law Center [protected], tell your story, and they will very likely suggest a course of action. 6. Search the Internet for class action suits. There are some recent cases in your favor. 7. If the document you signed on “overdrafts” had an “arbitration-only” clause, then you have another possible hurtle. 8. If you are in Wisconsin, there was just settled a payday loan case, which was won by a borrower who paid an NOMINAL, SIMPLE-INTEREST annual percentage rate of 1338% calculated (using Excel mathematical symbols: add +, subtract -. multiply *, divide /, compound ^) as 22% interest rate for 6 days, 22%*365/6=1338%, which the lower court found was “unconscionable” according to Wisconsin’s lending law. I pointed out on the website of the Wisconsin Law Journal that the mathematically-true, COMPOUND Annual Percentage Rate on that loan is 17, 928, 912%, calculated as (((1+(22/100))^(365/6))-1)*100. The payday lender dropped its appeal. Usually, you can find your state law on lending on the Internet. 9. It is not clear what you mean by saying you have to payback $1538.98. Where is the data?... amounts overdrawn and on what dates. What has $6, 535.98 got to do with this?
Good Luck!
There could be a class action lawsuit against them for that right now. I know national city had one and I was just paid yesterday. get them!
