Stay away! Unless you want to be lied to and receive a genetically screwed up dog!
We bought our girl from them, at first we were told that the "Hughes" do not own kingfisher malamutes I talked to randy and Kristi Hughes.
All was good we had a contract took home our malamute girl. I was worried about her hips so we agreed to pay them half upfront and half when her hips come back good.
They came back good and I paid them the rest of the money. Well before she was even 2 years old we did her OfA eyes and she had cataracts ( genetic) I reached out to Kristi and Randy and immediately ignored. I wasn't mad at that point just letting them know what happen because per our contract it said a replacement dog will be given if a genetic issue occurs that is considered a "vital function" well eyes are genetic and I would definitely consider them vital! Long story short they ignored me, I was in touch with a friend of theirs and they had told me they own royal flush springer spaniels and candy yorkies so I reached it to that page on Facebook because Kristi and Randy ignored my fb message, text and emails, I was ignored again, looking at the about info in the royal flush spaniels page it lists randy and Kristi Hughes as a creator and owner of the page, so I did more digging and found out Kristi and Randy Hughes also own candy yorkie, I contacted them on that page they denied it said they don't know a Randy or Kristi and basically told me to leave them alone, I looked again on the about info of the candy yorkie page listed Kristi Hughes as the owner and creator of candy yorkies.. then I was mad, pissed off that they are trying to deny these things and lie to my face when I had all the proof.
Kingfisher malamutes is a puppy mill! They have a new Facebook page up they own malamute and Aussies as well as spaniels AND yorkies. I found out this week that Kristi and randy Hughes do in fact own kingfisher malamutes with their son Elijah, even though they told me they don't own kingfisher and they just bought their dogs from kingfisher.
So they own malamutes, yorkies, spaniels and Aussies..
They are liars and Kristi will use any excuse and say she can't refund because her sons autistic or something.
Buyer beware! I feel it is my right to express my own personal opinion about them as well as my findings and this is what I found
Had they been responsible and actually got back to me about the issue all would be fine but they continue to lie and not stand by their contract.
puppies
I purchased a puppy from them in 2018.
Upon arrival you could tell the pup had not been exposed to humans. As someone who has owned a malamute before I knew this one was different. It had no interest in spending time with humans. It had no interest in sleeping in the same room, let alone in the same bed. This dog just didn't know how to interact with humans.
Almost 2 years later what I have is a dog that has no interest in interacting with humans. When approached by other dogs she simply wants to attack them. I've been gentle and patient with this dog for 2 years, but there was something went wrong within it's first few months of being raised. My guess is that this dog was left to fend for itself the first 2 months it was alive at the breeding facility that was cranking out too many pups.
This is a puppy mill.
dead puppies!
BUYER BEWARE!
Malamutes have always been my fiancés and I favorite dog breed. We planned for a longtime to finally get our pup. I reached out to KingFishers in July of 2017 and spoke extensively on several occasions with the yard manager, Monica. I was adamant that our top priority was the dogs health and friendly personality over color preference. Monica always reassured me that was always their priority above all else. She never disclosed any information prior to our issues about previous puppy deaths and ongoing health issues with the adults. After looking over all of KingFishers breeder dogs we fell in love with Klondike. I told Monica that Klondike was the Sir dog we would like to buy a female pup from and we were happy to wait for that dog exclusively. Monica informed me in late October that Klondike was being paired with Blitz. We put our deposit in so we could have 1st pick of the Klondike and Blitz litter and we specified that we wanted a female. I was informed throughout the whole pregnancy that things were progressing perfectly. Monica messaged me on January 9th that the first of the puppies were born. I was told that there were 8 puppies, 4 boys and 4 girls but that one pup was very small and they did not think it was going to make it. On the 10th I was told that everything was going fine then suddenly on the morning of the 11th Monica messaged me that they lost 5 puppies overnight and they did not know what happened! They had lost all 4 girls and 1 boy and they were not sure yet if the others would survive. It was at this point that Monica mentioned they had had issues with losing puppies before to the herpes virus! She told me they had put the pups on antibiotics right away, which I thought was fishy without being advised to do so by a veterinarian. Especially since they had no actual idea what the medical condition was. She assured me however that they were sending the pups in for an "autopsy"… It was at this point it began to become painfully clear that these people really have no actual veterinary knowledge. FYI, an autopsy on an animal is referred to as a necropsy. My fiancé and I were so dumbfounded and crushed we really did not know how to respond. We were trying to be polite and not panic but honestly we were in shock. It took less then 24hrs before Monica was trying to push pups from another litter on us! A few days had passed and I kept asking questions regarding a necropsy report, well come to find out they never had one done! They never even took the puppies to the veterinarian! They only supposedly sent in blood work. At this point we made it clear we did not want a puppy from that litter as we were not comfortable not even knowing what happened medically and we specifically wanted a female from Klondike. We were given no clear medical information of any kind and after requesting to speak with the owner about a refund we were given the cold shoulder! After requesting a phone call from the owner specifically I finally received a TEXT MESSAGE from him roughly 4 days later! I told the owner Josh that given the circumstances that we specifically wanted a female from Klondike and that's what we were paying for that we deserved a refund on our deposit. Josh was blunt and rude on the phone and only offered us a "credit" for a puppy from another litter because "we did not receive our desired puppy". Uummm actually our desired puppy DIED and we were given NO explanation as to why, so yes, we wanted a refund! All we wanted was our $500 deposit back and we would have disappeared. I hope these shady horrible people lose far more business from this warning and I hope no one else has to ever deal with these sketchy people again!

Alaska malamute breeder
We recently lost our 5 year old boy, Boulder, that we got from Josh and Jamie at kingfisher's Alaskan malamutes after years of trying to find out what was wrong with him. We had him to numerous specialists and ran every test possible but in the end the pain was too much for him and the best we know is that it was "unexplained neurological issues". After we lost him, we left messages for Josh asking him to please call us as we have since heard from other breeders that they have heard of the same thing happening with other pups from the same litter/parents. They didn't even have the decency to return our calls. Looking back, we should have been wary after the first pup we had on hold with them died before they were supposed to ship him and they didn't tell us until the day before we thought we were picking him up - he had been sick for a few days and they just stalled us until they had no choice but to tell us. Then when our boy Boulder came, he showed up with a serious bladder infection and was quite ill many times in his first years with us. Boulder was the love of our lives, he was a beautiful soul - I just wanted people looking for a pup to know that these guys didn't care enough to contact us, either when there were issues with other pups from the same parents or when we lost him. It's heartbreaking to watch a pet you love go through so much and not be able to help - I would never ever recommend these guys as breeders to get pups from. And if anybody else out there is having unexplained neurological and pain episodes with a pup from them, my heart breaks for you.
I justrecently lost a malamute from the same breeder he was a year-and-a-half-old due to neurological reasons that have no explanation
We bought a malamute from Josh and Jamie in 2011 and found out he had hip dysplasia in both hips when he was about 8 months old. I talked to Jamie and she claimed she had never even heard of hip dysplasia because none of their dogs had ever had it. What type of breeder doesn't know the health issues most prevalent in the lines they breed? Her solution was to pick out a different puppy, but only if we chose to kill our puppy and show proof of doing so. I asked her if other people had chosen that route and she said yes. It made me wonder what other issues their puppies have since she's "never even heard of hip dysplasia." We suggested that they either reimburse us or give us a credit to help us pay for his vet bills. She never responded to my email. Our puppy had double hip surgery at 1 year old and recovered pretty well although he still walks a little funny. His father is Avalanche and his mother was Scarlett, who was sold right after that litter. Arya is his littermate and in fact, I noticed on their website when I was curious if they were still in business, they were selling puppies born to Arya and Avalanche, her father.
Puppy mill
Kingfisher`s alaskan malamutes has 8, yes 8 litters of puppies due within a 2 month period! (January and february 2016) if the females only have 6 puppies which is the lower end of average they would have 48 puppies they need to take care of. How is it possible to take care of 48 puppies at one time and give them all the love and attention they need not to mention actually take care of them! After all of this is considered also keep in mind they have over 20 other malamutes that need to be taken care of as well! A puppy mill is a place where they have mass amounts of puppies and sell them at high prices to anyone who will take the puppy.
I use to work there and it wasn't hard to give them all attention. It would be a all day thing to do even into the night. But it was my priority to make sure I gave them all the love that I could give. Yes they had alot of dogs. But when I was working there I made sure it happen. Even if I was there until late in the night.
They kept my deposit of 500 and seemed to never have a whooly coat in any litter available. One i wanted would always he sold or one they were keeping. They find ways to keep your money and never have a pup to offer to scam you. When i decided to just pick one as 4 years had gone by they they demanded full payment in less tjat a week and each day after pup was 8 weeks old they said theyd charge a daily feed and daily boarding fee. They have blocked me on FB.
I cant speak to weather this business is a puppy mill as i haven't been on site, but if they have 20 adults, it is reasonable to have 8 females give birth in a couple months. The mothers will provide all of the care for the puppies with breeders needing only monitor for issues. They seem to have very healthy looking dogs.

Awful breeders! Greedy puppy mill. I live in Fairbanks and purchased an 8 week old Malamute puppy from Kingfisher Malamutes about 10 years ago. The experience still bothers me. The dog weighed 108 pounds at 9 months. Way to fast of a growth rate. Dr. Flamme from Mt, McKinley
animal hospital diagnosed him with severe hip dysplasia. He was already very crippled at 9 months
and walking was very painful for him. He was euthanized on my front porch. Tragic and unnecessary. The owners of the kennel offered me a replacement. Why would I want another
genetically handicapped Malamute? They should be closed down. Gidget Hagan in Fairbanks is a
master Malamute breeder. Perfect health, beauty and temperament.
