Land Rover Service Center at Land Rover Boston

Hello,

I am writing to formally submit a complaint against Land Rover Boston regarding the persistent issues I have encountered with the repairs and service for my 2017 Range Rover Sport HSE, purchased as a certified pre-owned vehicle in May/June 2022. Despite numerous visits to their service center since purchasing the vehicle, I have repeatedly experienced unresolved issues/oversight, and a lack of proper communication, raising serious concerns about the quality of repairs and the overall safety of my vehicle. I am filing this complaint not only out of concern for my own situation but also as a matter of principle, as the volume of visits and repairs I’ve had seems abnormal for any vehicle, especially a certified preowned vehicle covered under an extended warranty purchased at this location.

Repeated Service Issues and Lack of Proper Repairs:
Since purchasing the vehicle, I have had to bring it back to Land Rover Boston countless times, often for the same recurring issues. On at least four to five occasions, I was informed that the vehicle was repaired and ready for pickup, only to find upon testing/startup on-site that the original problems persisted or new issues emerged, forcing me to return the vehicle for additional repairs. This pattern of unresolved repairs and failure to address the root causes of these problems indicates a lack of oversight and thoroughness by the service department. While I would prefer not to deal with this service center anymore, I am left with no choice due to a lack of other nearby locations.

Drive Belt and Noise Issue:
One of the most significant instances of negligence involved the drive belt after a second repair of the water pump. An inspection report performed by a service technician indicated that the drive belt had been inspected and was in good condition. Following this, I was assured that all necessary repairs had been completed, including the second replacement of the water pump within six months. However, when I arrived to test the vehicle for a noise issue that I had previously reported, the car made a new loud screeching noise.

The shop foreman quickly diagnosed the problem as coolant leakage onto the drive belt, despite earlier inspections claiming the drive belt had no issues. What is even more concerning is that the service advisor later shared they had noticed the same noise before my arrival but failed to inform me until after I brought it up. This lack of transparency and failure to disclose known issues has been a recurring problem for me. Despite the assurances via inspection by a service technician, I am now being asked to pay $574 for parts and labor, which I believe is due to poor workmanship and inadequate inspections during previous visits.

Cracked Control Arm and Suspension Issues:
Another serious issue was the delayed identification of a cracked control arm. Over several months, I had reported issues with the vehicle’s handling and shaking, but during multiple visits, the service team repeatedly stated there were no issues with the suspension or related components. From my understanding, a service technician performs a thorough inspection during each visit, which indicates no issues (see inspection reports). It was only after I specifically requested that the control arm be checked—following an independent observation from a friend who drove with me—that the cracked control arm was finally discovered. This component should have been identified earlier, particularly given the clear symptoms I was experiencing. The failure to diagnose this issue in a timely manner has further highlighted the service center’s negligence.

Overlooked or Undisclosed Issues:
The recurring problems I have encountered, including multiple water pump replacements, repeated pulley replacements, check engine lights, EVAP leaks, and unresolved noise and suspension issues, point to a pattern of missed or undisclosed problems. Despite repeated visits to the service center, critical issues were either overlooked or inadequately addressed. In several cases, issues like the cracked control arm and drive belt were not acknowledged or inspected until requested by me.

This raises concerns that Land Rover Boston may be failing to conduct thorough inspections or delaying repairs, possibly in an effort to avoid triggering additional warranty claims (and inspections) under my extended warranty. The volume of visits and the number of missed or delayed repairs have made me question the overall safety and reliability of my vehicle. Given my experience, I will never purchase another Land Rover vehicle again.

Low Trade-In Offer:
Adding to my concerns, when I recently requested an updated trade-in offer from Land Rover Boston, I was given a lowball quote of about $14,000, with vague references to numerous repairs needed. No specific repairs were mentioned, which gave me the impression that there may be other issues with the vehicle that have not been disclosed to me. This lack of transparency suggests an attempt to encourage me to accept a significantly lower offer, despite my extended warranty coverage. This further highlights the service center's lack of attention to detail and raises concerns about the true condition of my vehicle, given their repeated failure to properly address its issues.

Request for Investigation and Action:
Given the numerous unresolved issues, missed diagnoses, and lack of transparency, I respectfully request that your office investigate Land Rover Boston for negligence in their handling of my vehicle’s repairs.

Specifically, I ask that you:
1. Conduct a full review of my vehicle’s service history to assess the repeated failures to resolve issues and the potential negligence involved.
2. Determine whether improper repairs or omissions during inspections have contributed to the ongoing problems and abnormal/frequent visits. Please refer to the timeline of events (service history).
3. Investigate the service center’s failure to disclose known issues before returning the vehicle to me, particularly regarding the drive belt and control arm and other repeated visits.
4. Review the trade-in offer, which I believe reflects issues that should have been addressed by the service center but were not and may result in another visit.

The frequent visits, repeated issues, and lack of thorough repairs have caused significant concern and frustration for me about the safety and reliability of my vehicle. I trust that your office will take these concerns seriously and conduct a thorough investigation into Land Rover Boston’s handling of my vehicle and the abnormal/repeat visits I have experienced since purchasing the vehicle.

Land Rover Defective sunroof has been broken for more than a year and has been for more than 5 months with the dealership

The sunroof of a 2021 Land Rover Defender is defective. We took the vehicle since February of 2024. To this date, the vehicle continues at the El Paso, Texas dealership. No ETA has been provided. For many months, they did not provide a loaner. We have one now (a VW Atlas). They do not provide clear explanation about when the vehicle will be returned to us repaired.

Desired outcome: Get my vehicle back in functioning order ASAP

Land Rover Steering wheel rack quality/technical failure

I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration regarding my Land Rover Range Rover Velar R-Dynamic S 2.0 5dr, purchased from Alpha Motors Wigan in December 2022. The vehicle, with a 2019 registration and 26,000 miles at the time of purchase, has been a source of pleasure for me, used primarily for leisure and occasional school runs proximate 5000 miles per year that I might use ,this should be nothing for this type of cars .

Unfortunately, on the 24th of October 2023, I encountered a sudden and severe issue with the steering wheel, making it impossible for me to manage. Subsequently, I promptly took the vehicle to Sytner Land Rover Knutsford, where it has been undergoing repairs since October 26th. The diagnosis revealed a quality/technical failure in the Steering Wheel Rack, an issue that Land Rover has acknowledged. However, to my dismay, the responsibility for the replacement cost has been apportioned with only 40% falling on Land Rover and the remaining 60% on me.

This revelation is both surprising and disappointing, especially considering Land Rover's esteemed reputation for producing robust and dependable vehicles. It is disheartening to discover that a vehicle celebrated for its toughness can unexpectedly encounter delicate issues, especially on regular city roads. Despite the acknowledgment of a quality issue, expecting customers to bear a significant portion of the financial responsibility for the repair is unsettling.

In light of these circumstances, I believe it is imperative to address this matter promptly and transparently to ensure a fair resolution. The situation has led me to contemplate taking further action to rectify this situation.

While I appreciate the efforts of your team at Sytner Land Rover Knutsford, the lack of updates on the completion of repairs is causing frustration. The extended delay in resolving the issue has made my daily life challenging without a vehicle. I chose Land Rover initially due to its reputation for quality and reliability, but this experience has been far from satisfactory.

I understand that obtaining a part from Land Rover is necessary for the repairs, and the delay in securing it is particularly frustrating. It surprises me that a company of Land Rover's stature would face challenges in providing timely service and lack sufficient safety stock for crucial parts.

I trust you comprehend the inconvenience this has caused, and I am hopeful that you can provide clarity on when I can expect my car to be ready for collection. Your prompt attention to this matter is appreciated, and I look forward to your swift response.

Land Rover Rear arm rest hinges broken Range rover SVA OE70 YBK

Hi

The rear hinges to our rear arm rest have broken and come away.

Ryebrook garage kindly took our car to Land rover Solihull to be told this isnt a warrenty issue and ive a quote for a new one.

Im completely shocked that this is not covered by warranty?

We have hardly deployed the armrest in the 2 years we have had the Range Rover and is obviously a weak or faulty part/design

Im sure you would agree this part should not fail even if in frequent use

Land Rover Land Rover Solon ohio and Akron ohio

I have been at the dealership for 4 hours today to get an oil change. they like to tell me that the miles was in kilometers and then it wasn't due for an oil change at 44,000 miles. finally got my oil changed.

Also they did an update on my vehicle for the all wheel drive and now they're telling me that it needs all new brake pads, tires and rotors at my expense not under the bumper-to-bumper warranty. I believe the four-wheel-drive update is what caused my problem with my brakes.

Since l've update, l've had continuously problems try to call the dealership got no answer on the phone called corporate got no results there made a complaint. I am very unhappy with the service here I feel like a peasant. I want Landrover to do right by me and have their companies answer the phone when service is due because you can only come in by appointment. I need a lawyer.

Desired outcome: Cover parts under bumper to bumper warranty.

I also found out that my warranty paperwork does not match the vin number to my car. The color of the car is wrong. The dealership changed the oil today on my car and none of the maintenance is in the computer under my vin number. So one should be fired! I found all this information at the Akron Ohio Land Rover. Most of all the work has been done at the Solon ohio location. I showed them my app today and explained that it says I needed an oil change, but did not document it under my vin? I will never buy a Land Rover car again. As I said in my last complaint I am very unhappy with the service and the folks that I have talked today no one has fixed this issue. And I am still in an unsafe vehicle. Don’t trust this company they do not back their customers. This has been very stressful and uncalled for….

Land Rover Windscreen sealant

Hi,

I wonder if you can help I've had my Evoque now for 2 years.

I have had issues with my difib which I paid to get fixed, and now my windscreen is leaking, due to the sealer not being installed properly.

I have searched back on forums and can see that JLR had an issue with the sealant for models made in 2016/2017.

I don't see why I should pay for this to be fixed especially knowing there was a fault with them in general.

Could you help and advise please

Land Rover Range rover velar

Firstly, let me express my excitement and pride when I purchased my used Land Rover Velar. It was a dream come true for me, a symbol of my hard work and determination. I felt like a queen, basking in the glory of my success. The car, with all its elegance and sophistication, seemed to embody my achievements. Felt proud of myself and can see the faces of pride of my kids as I just bought a “fancy” car.

However, my joy was very short-lived as my beloved Land Rover Velar started experiencing numerous issues shortly after the purchase. Despite having diligently followed all the maintenance and check-up procedures, the car has been in repair shop for several weeks now. Things just keep coming up. This unexpected turn of events has left me heartbroken and deeply disappointed.

The constant breakdowns and the time spent without my Land Rover Velar have not only caused inconvenience but have also shattered my confidence in the product and the brand. It pains me to see my dream car reduced to a mere source of frustration and disappointment. I have never experienced this personal discouragement in general as I constantly receive questions of what happened to my “new car”. I feel ashamed and beaten down as I have to say is still “in service”.

I write this letter not only to express my personal grievances but also to bring to your attention the importance of customer satisfaction. Land Rover has built a reputation for luxury, quality, and reliability, and it is crucial to uphold these values. I believe that by addressing the issues faced by customers like me, you can not only restore faith in the brand but also strengthen the bond between Land Rover and its aspiring customers.

I used to believe in the potential of your company in delivering exceptional products and services, now I really don’t know what to think.

Land Rover black out screen

To whom it may concern

I bought my land rover sport HSE 2018,4 months ago my control screen blacked out .I took the car to land rover and they charged me $210 just to up date and they told me they found INFOTAINMENT AND TELEMATICS OUT OF DATE CAUSING ICDM communication issues. They said its going to cost me $2500-$3000 to fix it. I chose this car and paid so much money because I believed That I didn’t need to spend money to repair for bat least 5 years , with out that screen the car is useless I can’t control the climate at all. I think that its not fair to me and it doesn’t look good for your company. I’m asking you please take care of this matter.

Land Rover Land Rover Service WX70 ZWP

I had a "blowout" in my front right tyre when heading east between junctions 13 & 12 of the M4 on the morning of Friday 9th June.

I had to wait over 5 hours to be recovered because the administrative staff sent the recovery vehicle/s to the wrong location. Therefore I was standing on a very hot day on the hard shoulder for 5+ hours.

I was in contact with Hannah Ridley at the JLR UK client relations centre and was contacted on my mobile by "Ash" from the JLR assistance team who was going to liaise with someone and he (or the someone) were going to get back to me to organise some form of compensation for the appalling recovery service.

I heard nothing further and therefore sent the email below two weeks ago to which I have not received the courtesy of a response.

I thought that after spending 5+ hours on the hard shoulder of the M4 awaiting recovery on Friday 9th June burning my head quite badly (no shade, no hat, bald head) that there might be some form of compensatory gesture from JLR?!

I thought that extension of the warranty might be a nice gesture...

Land Rover Landrover of Solon, Ohio

This is my 4th vehicle that I have purchased from LandRover of Solon Ohio. My experience this last time from beginning to end was HORRIFIC. I drove from Florida to Ohio to pick up this vehicle. The salesman put the trade in vehicle license plate on the newer vehicle. It should have been a 30 day tag placed on the new purchased vehicle. This resulted in my drivers license being suspended in the state of Florida. The dealership ALSO forgot to pay a small balance of $16.00 on the trade in loan which resulted in the $16.00 being 58 days late and had a HUGE NEGATIVE impact on my credit. My credit score has dropped over 100 points because of this. My vehicle was purchased in April and it was NOT until August 1st that I finally got the vehicle registered in Florida. You cannot even begin the countless amount of hours and time I have spent at the DMV because of this oversight from the Title agent at the dealership.

Unfortunately, the vehicle has not been satisfactory because, after a few days, the car started to develop serious faults,

As my car is under warranty, On 24/11/2021, I started the email complaints, which continue until today with multiple defaults from minor to severe problems.

The car is in service almost every 2-3 months, and the dealership offers the best, but this can not continue.

I look forward to settling this matter amicably. If, however, the matter is not satisfactorily resolved, I will consider taking further action to resolve the complaint either through Consumer Protection or through the courts.

Land Rover Range rover evoque

Have owned car for 3.5 Years of this time car has been in repair for approx. 11 months heading to 12/13 months. Currently car in repair since 25.2.2023 (117 Days) To date I have had a drive shaft replaced 9000km/ wheel bearings replaced 12000km/ 3 New Batteries total of 4 Batteries to date multiple tows due to 7 pages of faults. Now having Power Steering Rack replaced ( was returned once saying we dont know what the noise is we asked Range rover and they dont know either / no conversation putting my family at risk due to the steering issue not able to be clearly defined and returning the vehicle for me to drive at 100km /hr ( we could all be dead) - 2 more months until suggested return could then possibly be 180 days in repair. Called Case Manager to only be informed as the Retailer who they take my car to warranty repair doesn't upload the problem he can only assist with my hire car of which he forgot he forgot to renew so he asked me to pay for and he would reimburse me. My mental health is on edge due to having to fight all the time about my car. I work full time and have spent hours on the phone trying to sort the issue. I have been financially disadvantaged as I have had to buy a car for my son to learn to drive as he is unable to drive the hire car ( he could drive my car but ...) and today the case manager had people in the background laughing at my conversation. The car is a Lemon and should be replaced it cannot and has not been fixed timely and continues just to be patched ( 4 Batteries in 2.5 years of driving time. 50,000 doesn't not warrant 4 new batteries.

I am writing to you as a loyal customer of Jaguar Land Rover, expressing my deep concern and seeking urgent assistance regarding a faulty vehicle I recently purchased. I kindly request your prompt attention and cooperation in resolving this matter.

On Feb 22, 2023, I had the pleasure of acquiring a New Range Rover Sport from your esteemed dealership. As a loyal customer who has previously experienced the exceptional quality and performance of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles, I was excited about this new addition to my automotive collection. However, to my dismay, I have encountered persistent issues with the vehicle, which have hindered my ability to enjoy it fully.

Following the discovery of these problems, I immediately contacted your authorized service center and entrusted them with the task of diagnosing and rectifying the issues. Regrettably, it has now been 38 days since the vehicle has been in their possession, and the problems remain unresolved. Despite their efforts, the service center has been unable to provide a satisfactory solution, leaving me with a sense of frustration and disappointment.

Furthermore, I would like to express my disappointment with the service center's inability to provide me with a loaner car during the extended periods when my vehicle was being serviced. Land Rover Shattered sunroof: 2019 rr lwb autobiography

I have owned my RR for a year. I am the second owner and purchased through Sarasota Land Rover.

I live in Orlando, Florida and service my vehicle at the Orlando Land Rover.

I have serviced it regularly and meticulously maintain my vehicle.

June 10:

- I was driving from Orlando to Palm Harbor (1 hr. 45 mins)

- Weather conditions were dry and hot (as typical in Florida)

- My sunroof screen was not open nor was my sunroof

- Temperature in the vehicle was at 65 degrees

- I was traveling at an average rate of 75 - 80 miles an hour

- 15 minutes from my destination on US 19, I heard what sounded like a gunshot (as I own a security company and guns, I am familiar with the sound)

- Originally I thought a rock hit the windshield but as I scanned the windshield I saw no damage

- I looked up and saw that the sunroof was shattered

- When I stopped at my destination I opened the sunroof screen and saw in fact that the sunroof was shattered

I had the vehicle towed to Orlando Land Rover on Sunday.

Upon research and investigation, I discovered that this occurrence is one in a hundred thousand (very rare) where it involved nickel sulphide inclusions in the tempered glass.

Failures due to nickel sulphide inclusions are notable for the distinctive "butterfly" fracture pattern they produce, as well as the spontaneous random nature of the occurrence.

I have pictures, engineering reports and studies and have requested the dealership to not dispose of the sunroof.

Desired outcome: I would like to speak to someone that can help me with a resolution, and I would like Land Rover to take responsibility for the replacement cost of my sunroof.

The worse service ever and a rip off, the money I spent $13,557.39 to locate a draw only caused more issues which I never had the whole time owning the vehicle. Things stopped working my A/C blowing out hot air, parts loose or completely emptied. I can't see how major issues were ignored and suggested repairs for items that could have waited. Land Rover Car that was sold and has problems

Good morning,

My name is Jaterria Janvier I recently Purchased a vehicle from Tampa Range Rover in Brandon, FL. I called the dealership to let them know that the car stopped with me. And that I was going to get the car towed back to them. When I got to the dealership I waited 25 minutes before the Manager came out to speak to me his first thing he said is that he is not fixing my car because someone called him about the car I have the recording of our conversation and when I advised him and told him I was recording the conversations he said he didn't want to talk to me I also told him that my paperwork that I sign was different I wanted a copy he said no car was sold as is and he walked out when asked for business card he refuse to give me one because I told him I will be contacting corporate he was very unprofessional rude and was yelling at me he stated that he has been doing this for 28 years and he can do whatever he want

Land Rover Dashboard clicking itself also no protection for airbag.

I went serval times to dealer to show problem nothing fixed so far. My dash board keep cracking itself no protection for airbag also due to crack on dash board. I never see dashboard cracks even on 20 years old car. I am very scare to drive my car because

From top of airbag space also cracked. Dealer told me your car old get new now. That's not metter matter is why dashboard cracking and cover on top coming off. I am writting last time to resolve this issue other wise reported to news how bad land rover service is

Land Rover 2019 discovery sport

I financed a vehicle through Calgary Land Rover Jaguar Glendeer Circle location online/over the phone. Then the day they were supposed to deliver it Dave the manager asked me to come pick up so I found a way there and 2 mins after arriving I was jumped on by two police officers and being falsely accused of fraud I sat in jail for a week and lost my job and can’t pick up my daughter now and I have the signed bill of sale and all other documents but yet they refuse to acknowledge that or anything at all. So in all they left me worse off than before they accused me of things that weren’t true and by the way I was released with no charges but they violated my human rights committed criminal offenses and yet they continue to treat me as if I have done something wrong which I didn’t and no one at The dealership or corporate will help me I have all the documents and emails proving what I’m saying

Desired outcome: I just want the vehicle I signed for or one like it I would just ask them to hold up their end if the contract they made me sign.

Land Rover Refund check for Recall

I had work done on my car that cost me $1335.20(US), then Land Rover issued a recall.

CASE:[[protected]]: N623 Recall Reimbursement

After a run around from the dealer and Land Rover corporate they said that a check would be issued.

I spoke with Joe B @ the Customer Relationship Centre

T: [protected],OPTION 9, Ext. [1310118]

He spearheaded getting the problem solved, however.

He initially informed me on Oct 12, 2022 that I would receive a check between 4-6 weeks, which would mean I would have received the check by 11/23/2022.

Then on Nov 16, 2022 he said that I would receive a check between 3-4 weeks, which would mean I would have received the check by 12/7/2022.

Then on on 12/22/2022 he said that I would receive a check between 3-4 weeks, which would mean I would have received the check by 01/19/2022.

As of now, no idea when or if I will get my money, and they have no way of tracking if or when the check did or didn't go out.

Desired outcome: a check for $1335.20
