I usually don't complain and believe you get what you pay for, but...We bought an expensive LG fridge in October 2009. Only 14 months later and the plastic part of the shelves are cracking. One completely broke apart. I did an online chat with their customer support and the person on the other end was not helpful and ended the session abruptly without answering my questions. When I called LG, their only solution was for me to buy new shelves, at $50+ each. If I have to replace all of the cracked items in my fridge, we are nearing $600. My expensive fridge is getting more and more expensive! I will NEVER buy another LG product. It is not meant to be used, but looked at.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Same here, my model Kenmore LG [protected] had to buy replacement shelving for in-door and main section of unit- no quality at all (brittle & disenigrating) and very expensive to replace. Dealt with unit catching fire from inside bulb lighting - luckily we were home at the time. Sears solution replace lighting unit, only utilize one bulb, auto shut off after certain time door alarm sounds.Had to zip tie bottom freezer basket to keep on track, french doors with bottom freezer unit was bought for new home 2003, after all that unit died 2011. This was my all in one Kenmore refrigerator (first and LAST)
I agree I have had many problems with our lg fridge, the water line burst causing damage to our floors and surrounding cabinets, shelving cracked in both the fridge and freezer, freezer was overheating and something was melting and oozing out of the surrounding creases. Also when a repair person came to the house he said he had never seen anything like the problems we were having and told us that there were burn marks as though it was at some point starting or going to start a fire. Customer service was of no assistance, telling me that the fridge is not able to be repaired yet since it is past the one year warranty they will not do anything for us. The customer service people were rude speaking to me as though I was a small child in need of being reprimanded and hung up on me abruptly. I will never buy lg or anything affiliated with them again and I will be sure to tell as many people as possible about our horrible experiences with them
My year old LG refrigerator spontaneously cracked the white frame of its top shelf. The one year warranty had expired so it was with a bit of difficulty that LG customer service agreed to send a replacement shelf. The replacement shelf had a deformity where the white frame wasn't molded correctly. I reported the defect to customer service and they sent a new one. This one had two cracks in the white frame. I reported again that there appeared to be a material problem with the manufacturing of the shelves- they sent me a third shelf. The third shelf arrived perfectly wrapped and packed, but when unwrapped it had a massive 7 inch crack on the front of the white frame. I reported this problem -they sent another. Again one arrived perfectly packaged, but the white frame was slightly warped, the clear shelf doesn't fit the frame quite right, and yes indeed, there is a tiny crack in the corner of the white frame. At this point I think I'm just going to try gluing the best one with epoxy- the product is clearly defective. The refrigerator itself has many many nice features and otherwise runs well so far. It is hard to believe that a consumer has to be concerned that a refrigerator's shelves might break.
I am also having problems with plastic shelves cracking in my personal LG fridge. As a landlord, I have owned many refrigerators over many years, and have never seen this problem even with tenants who are less than careful. LG should have a replacement program for these parts, right after redesigning the plastic. Until then, no LG for me.
All my shelves cracked too. Never buy a LG fridge!
I'm having an issue with my newer (bought brand new in June 2020) LG French door stainless steel refrigerator. The bins in the side doors are all cracking/one completely broke off? I've never seen anything like it. We don't over pack the bins and I'm starting to wonder if it's a manufacturer defect? And to clarify I'm not talking about the shelves that lay horizontally I'm talking about when you open the French doors (side by side doors) the bins that are located on the inside of each door are having all these cracks and breaks. LG please help!
Our LG refrigerator shelf cracked and fell last week. Never seen anything like it. The plastic sides simply broke! Nothing unusual about the shelf load: a few plastic bottles, pints of cream, butter, cheese. Ordered a replacement shelf (over $100) and it arrived with the sides cracked and the glass shelf detached.
It's a poor design with cheap materials, unsuitable plastic. Our Maytag fridge has glass shelves with plastic frames and it's nearly 20 years old; no problems.
Our solution, saw a 1x2 wooden shelf slide. Problem solved with good old wood.
My lg side by side 13 months old. The bottom shelf broke into pieces and the 2nd and 3rd from tip have cracks. They look like they could break at anytime. Customer service asked me if I had little kids that are rough on the shelfs. I do not, live alone. Then the asked me how cold do I have the refrigerator side set to. These shelfs are the thinest and cheapest that I have ever seen in the door of a refrigerator. This is a thin q with second door I have to pay for the 3 shelfs. I should have bought the whirlpool.
