I went to buy a drink gift for my neighbour, he likes Carlton Draught beer. I don’t buy beer and therefore am not familiar with beer.

Sunday 29/12/2024 approx 1pm I walked in Liquorland Mill Park Lakes, Melbourne, Victoria.
I went to the back of the room fridges with doors to look for Carlton Draught beer in bottles. I looked at the fridge for a while for Carlton Draught. There were blue Carlton cans however I could not find the beer type I was after.

I went to the counter, and asked if there was any Carlton Draught in bottles. LIAM said its in the cool room.

I went back across the other side of the room and looked in the fridges again. Liam still at the counter yelled across the room, ‘its in the cool room open the doors.’ I did not know what a cool room was, and thought only staff entered in the doors.

I opened the doors to the cool room. I was overwhelmed and did not know where anything was. Could not find what I was looking for. There were Carlton blue cans at the top of the shelf. Eventually found Carlton draught red in bottles located at the bottom right the shelf. I was in the cool room for some time looking for the beer.

I picked up the 6-pack bottles and went back to the counter, Liam was still standing at the counter. I mentioned to Liam it took me a while to find the beer as I did not know where anything was, and perhaps it was a good idea as he knew the shop and where items are located and worked at the shop that it would have been easier if he got the bottles.

Liams response was ‘I told you where it was’.

My response ‘yes as I don’t know where anything is, it would have been good if you had gotten the bottles’

Liams response ‘You have 2 perfectly good arms and legs’

I was shocked by his response and knew what he meant, as in ‘go get it yourself’.

My response was ‘Do you work here, to help people?’

Liams response was ‘I am not your servant’.

Liam deflected the question and did not answer my question, I thought to myself what is he talking about.

I asked again ‘Do you work here to help people?’

Liams response ‘I am not your servant, you have 2 arms and legs to get the beer’.

While this exchange occurred, Liam scanned the wine and beer at the counter for me to pay.

I thought to myself, I not giving that beer as a gift to my neighbour with all that just happened around it, and paying, handing over my money, that I worked hard for to pay for the items after that exchange. I walked out the shop.

I was shocked, shocked, shocked!

All I wanted was a certain beer and help buying the beer, a simple transaction in and out the store. What I received was a really bad attitude and someone who speaks to people appallingly, terrible.

If Liam is in a bad mood, has bad attitude or does not want to work, that has nothing to do with me.

I got in my car and drove a little bit longer distance to a competitor. I walked into the shop, the sales guy greeted me and asked if I needed help :) I replied I was after Carlton Draught beer, and he walked over to me and walked to show me where the beer was located in the fridge. I bought the Carlton Draught beer and wine.

When I was student I worked part time in a bottle shop. When people asked me questions about items, I would walk away from the counter, show and direct them in the shop, where to find wine to buy fish, or champagne, or specials, talk and explain with them.

What should have been a simple straight forward transaction has now costed me time. I spent 1 hour to get the items, first the exchange at LiquorLand, and then went to another store to purchase the items. another 1.5 hours to write this complaint and upload to the website, and additional time again reading this websites reviews.

After reading the reviews on this website, LiquorLand Australia Reviews and Complaints, it seems a standard and culture of LiquorLand staff with bad customer service, bad attitude and appalling behaviour and speaking to people
