If only people knew what I experienced with this place, losing my beloved little one, my Shih Tzu girl, my baby. People should be aware that they take your money, making you think they will take care of your loved one. However, they use trainees, and that's why many little ones die there. Stay away from that place for the sake of your little one. I wish I had known, I would still have my baby girl. They had a trainee shove tubes down her nostrils, and she went into cardiac arrest. What more can I tell you? Keep away from this place!

This place is terrible! They almost killed my dog. They're just greedy and don't care about animals. All they want is money. The vets there try to convince scared pet owners that their pets need unnecessary procedures, just so they can make more money. It's so unfair. The owners of the facility are probably in cahoots with the local vet boards, so any complaints get ignored. It's like they can get away with anything. These people shouldn't be allowed to practice medicine. They should be held responsible for all the harm they've caused to local animals. The laws for vets need to be stricter. They've been getting away with this for years. I hope at least one person reads this and decides not to take their precious animal there. To the owners of Long Island Veterinary Specialists, just remember, God sees everything.

I only give this place 1 star because there's no option for 0 stars! Avoid it at all costs! They only care about money and trying to get as much as they can - it's like they see every pet as a cash register. They take advantage of caring pet owners who just want to do what's best for their pets, and they recommend all sorts of surgeries, tests, overnight stays, and physical therapy. My dog had spinal surgery 5 years ago. Last month, she started having trouble walking so we brought her to LIVS. Of course, they "recommend" surgery, but they leave the final decision up to us. They say that if she's under anesthesia and they can't reach us, we have to give them permission to go ahead with the surgery. So now, after spending $12k (and they also "accidentally" charged me $10k twice(!) and took forever to refund me), and with Izzy not getting any better, we have to bring her back for a whole week of overnight stays and physical therapy! Now we're faced with the difficult decision of having to put her down - a conversation that should have happened weeks ago if the vets actually cared about the animals and not just about making money! I hate this place and how the doctors and staff take advantage of pet owners! Avoid it at all costs!
