This sort of marketing has been going on forever in a free and open capitalist society.
Create a problem for which you are the only one that can provide a solution.
Works for every item imaginable.
Americans are especially susceptible to this sort of marketing.
I am sure there are people in other countries that would be dismayed by our standards of hygiene... Europeans with unshaven arm pits, et al.
Desired outcome: Shopper awareness!
Lume's ad is offensive.
I wouldn't buy this product because the ad is disgusting. I have to mute the TV, and/or change the channel every time it comes on. I thought I was the only one until I saw this board. I hope the company goes out of business so I never have to see the ad again. I would never buy it.
Apparently this site wants my complaint to be longer. I don't know what else to add.
Desired outcome: I would like the ad removed from the public airwaves.
Too bad you don’t buy it. I did and I love all the products. Very helpful and actually works. Honestly there really are far worse things your children will be exposed to. I’m not trying to upset anyone. I thought they were gross too but I’m so thankful for the amazing products.
Spokesperson
It's bad enough that some marketing geek came up with the bright idea of peddling butt cheese perfume.
It's ten times worse getting an Amy Schumer clone who glibly riffs on fecal flora and butt crack stink while sitting in front of a laptop as if it's another in a revoltingly long line of TIC TOC videos designed with enough Schumerisms to gag a maggot.
I can only hope that Lume occupies another space on the island of lost products, like Charlie Perfume and Hai Karate B.O.spray.
Lume
I was shocked to see this page; I have been complaining about this commercial and I thought it was just me. I am beyond disgusted, and I hate seeing it all day long. We have to must the TV. The woman advertising her products look and ack disgusting also. I just completed a complaint with the FCC. Everyone must do it, file a short complaint with the FCC TODAY! That is where you do something about it! I searched where to file a complaint on TV commercials! PLEASE DO IT!
Desired outcome: Remove the commercials, have the people here who complain about Lume, make their complaints to the FCC or where something can be done about it!
Lume' stick deodorant. 2 pack. I want lavender. Thanks
Yesterday ups delivered an empty envelope to me, from you. I ordered lume on Oct. 11th. I ordered a 2pack. I wanted lavender, but that wasn't a choice on that pkg. 28$ was taken from my account. I can't prove this, evidently, you will have to believe me. Please contact me at... [protected]@gmail.com. I don't have an order number. I'm an honest person. I don't steal, & don't like being stolen from. I hope you believe me. If I did it would be for something a lot more than deoderant. Glenda Walker
I received an empty envelope! No Lume'!
Complaint
Words like butt-crack, crotch scent, etc., they present their scent research by spreading someone's legs or bending over and smelling for improvement. What a scam! The commercials are vile, completely disgusting and beyond repulsive. You can't even eat a sandwich anymore watching television because Lume will make you vomit. Thank goodness for the internet...

The commercials are just plain gross Where are the censors? This type of filth has no business on television. Kids watch this [censored] and laugh. That should tell you something about the product. I can't remember anything quite this graphic. It ranks right up there with someone sitting on a toilet taking a [censored]. We don't need visuals of someone taking a [censored]. We don't need to hear about our pussies smelling like a can of spoiled tuna.
Lume Deodorant
When I saw the 1st Lume commercial intoducing the product I found it to be inovative, interesting and informative. The way in which the commercial was presented peaked one's curiosity primarily because it was POSITIVE! Unfortunately, the 2nd commercial is the antithesis of the original; the commercial is derogatory and offensive to females in every way.
It is commendable that you have developed a deodorant that can be used anywhere on one's body; taken to mean women, as well as MEN. The curiousity then is why would you focus only on females' private parts, of which you offensively refer to as "crotch", insinuting that the area is offensively oderous to the level requiring a deodorant. In addition you actually present a STINK METER to illustrate your point!
You are a gynocolosist who's pt's are exclusively female; what were you thinking?
The commercial should be taken off the air!
Desired outcome: The commercial should be taken off the air!!
I find it interesting that a "Board Certified OB/Gyn" would so vehemently support women using more products on their "private area". The rule of thumb for women is "less is better". As a matter of fact these doctors try to persuade women to just use a sensitive soap and that is all! She either needs to take a refresher course or stop trying to promote her product for monetary gain.

I find the Lume commercials offensive and too graphic. They are repetitive and played why too offered during prime time. The research is lacking and the instructions are offensive. PLEASE remove these commercials.
Agreed! This is an age-old complaint that goes back to the days of mynparents, and zIbam over 40. I remember my mother commenting that they had every personal product for women on t,v. but not for men...
Father commented that; " she should not be so sensitive> it's just hygiene."
She said " So what do you think jock itch spray is?... A food group? "
Sounds funny, but makes the point.
Lume feminine crotch deodorant
The public should not be subjected to these repulsive commercials. What’s next? Is she going to brink out a dead fish and rub Lume on it as a comparison to feminine “odors”
As a woman, I am more than insulted .
This is a product that needs to be put in the same space as sexual lubricant, condoms, yeast infections…..we don’t need to be bombarded with graphic descriptions.
Pls have some kind of decency standards!
By the way, I am 60 and most of my friends are 65-80. They all bathe and there are no issues with overwhelming “crotch” odors invading our atmosphere.
Desired outcome: Remove commercial from TV
I wanted to see who says the product works or does not. You don't know because you did not use it, you just wanted to bash the advertising style. So, your complaint is unhelpful and only you feel insulted about the add. I am 61 and do not suffer from body odor the way she describes it as like you I bath and take care of myself. But due to chemicals in deodorant, I do not or rarely us any. So I would like something like this if it worked to make me feel safe from the times my pits need extra help. When we were kids, even pads and rubbers were not talked about on TV. But times are very different, and I have a since of humor.
The commercials suck! You may have a sense of humor but where's your sense of decency and consideration for others?
Your ads
Your lume ads are disgusting. My hubby and I will be having a bite and all of a sudden you're offerong to demonstrste how to smear crap on your butt. I'm willing to pay hulu to remove your ads. Also, your products are slimy and overpriced. Have some respect for your viewers. I'm an adult. I don't need or want someone to show on tv how to wipe it on my rearend! How gross. If you don't understand how offensive these ads are, i can't help you. i swear I'll never buy this again.
Desired outcome: Stop the explicit ads and butt demonstrations. Gross
The damn women when she makes that “whuh” sound as she demonstrates how to properly apply to your butt crack UGH!
Exactly. These commercials are horrible. I would never buy their products because their ads are so disgusting
Lume Deodrant Commercials
Dr. Shannon Klingman must know a lot of stinky people. I've never seen someone so desperate to sell their product. She is as unprofessional as anyone I've seen with her commercials bordering on obscene. It's has come to the point that whenever the commercials start I automatically put my TV on mute so I don't have to listen to her. She is on practically every TV station I watch. I could scream! What can be done to get these commercials off the air?
Desired outcome: Remove her commercials from airing on TV.
All you "anti-Lume" people must be that 25-35 age demographic...wait til you hit the late 50's and your private parts start to stink on occasion. Gee, they are no longer the "sweet petals of femininity" that they used to be. Sorry, but if it works, she has my business!
I'm 68 and don't have that problem. Try showering. These commercials are disgusting and in in horrible taste...classless. I have noticed, however, that many of the networks no longer air them so we have that.
Lucky you - unfortunately I'm not quite that old yet...maybe I have something to look forward to. And, thank you, I do shower, regularly. I'm just glad someone had the common sense to make it known that those of us unlucky enough to have body odor that there might be a non-medical solution.
Wife. Mother, Doctor and Certified [censored] Sniffer. RIDICULOUS, can’t wait until the commercials air no more.
Prude
Cmon. You find deodorant commercials offensive? Isn’t having body odor offensive? I’m sure she does her commercials in this style because it’s different and cheap.
Also, with all the sex, violence, and political madness on tv, it’s kinda strange to me that a deodorant commercial is what bothers you!
You might be too sensitive even for Lume.
I find her down to earth and funny. Puts a smile on my face.
Lume Deodorant - This woman is so disgusting
I've never tried this product because I don't need it. This woman is a gynecologist? She should be sued for malpractice. If you stink this much its something internal. To mask if over is the worst kind of medical and hygiene advice. Never mind that she degrades women and herself. I'm amazed this is even on the air.I guess she feels there is a HUGE market for this product, pun intended. (Treat the underlying obesity) To degrade yourself so thoroughly to make a buck, is the worst kind of character flaw. Shame on her.
Desired outcome: Pull this disgusting ad, and sue her for medical malpractice which is what this is.
I thought we were past body shaming. Referring to your comment about HUGE success and (treat the underlying obesity). REALLY? It's not just obese people who stink. Newsflash, if you are human you will have body odor somewhere.
I also live in 'deep south' and would NEVER buy this product just to get the commercials off the air.
Yuk!
I am a woman that lives in the deep south where summer heat can reach 100 degrees. I can STINK even with deodorant. This product is the bomb and I will tell anyone. My friends who exercise regularly love it and my whole family use it: under arms, under breast, bikini line, fat folds and feet. I even use it behind my ears where my glasses ride. I am sure no one sniffs there but I like that it no longer smells when I touch it. The point is many woman need this help. Don't be selfish just because you don't.
All Lume products
The commercials degrade women and create an imaginary need for a product based on a contention that one's private parts are offensively smelly. The idea that products should be developed to cleanse the body of it's natural smell is itself offensive, and will contribute to body dysmorphia and the unrealistic idea that humans should have no odor. Terrible terrible company and all the worse since it appears to be fronted by a woman who has taken it upon herself to make her gender odorless.
Desired outcome: Stop these commercials.
Is nothing sacred anymore? Really? She's going to demonstrate putting cream between her butt cheeks?! I just CRINGE every time this commercial comes on! I sure hope they paid her well for making such a "Butt" out of herself! I vote to take it off the air!
Lume
Trash liberals, kids watch TV and internet - heard the commercial first over 11 year Olds phone. Stay out of the bedroom, stay out of the bathroom, stop teaching children its okay to be open out in the air perverts. You're destroying everything great about our country.
Complaint: your descriptions of the use of the product are brazenly perverted. The woman you put up there should be doing a Rosacea Commercial not talking about demonstrating to children the invasion of their most commonly molested body territories, you're normalizing perversion.
I hope your product fails, I hope ill for you and your ilk, and I wish shame on that wild animal you filmed describing her perverted product. Wish Biden would watch this he'd cancel your garbage pervert bull trash.
So many better ways yall could have approached this, you have been a both @ shop conversation piece, and at home conversation piece, if u were selling guaranteed wealth I'd still avoid giving you money, as it would likely aid in the perversion you wish to suffocate children with.
All of you burn in hell, please.
You are promoting the opinion that, FOR YOUR FINANCES AND FOR whatever else, a woman needs to be
demeaned in a ridiculous way, as if we are not already in a dangerous place, along with our daughters and grands because of politics, and I want to meet you, to hear your defense, because there is no defense for this demeaning [censored]. I've been "ate out" 100's of times in my 60 years...and you [censored]ing disrespect me and every other girl and woman in the whole [censored]ing world. Congrats and may you rot in a dirt bath forever.
Most of these people making these comments need to get a life. For one thing, Lume was not designed just for your private parts, you can use it anywhere on your body where you feel you smell. Last time I looked this is still the USA not China. For you to call for government censorship because you choose to be offended is outrageous. Im a woman and Im not offended at all. I feel the commercial is funny. There are a lot of women out there that like to be extra clean, and this product will probably appeal to a lot of them. If you go to their website, she talks about why she came up with this product. If you don't like the commercials, you have a choice either mute them or change the channel. No one is forcing you to buy the product. Anybody can choose to do a commercial on underarm smell, but she chose to do one featuring a place where most deodorants cannot be used. So she chose to be unique and some people can't handle it. Evidently a lot of people don't feel the way you do. I work for the USPS and I see a lot of Lume packages going to customers. Evidently the commercial works.
OMG! Wouldn't buy this product, but you sound like the animal. So much hostility. Hope I never come across in public.
Lume Deoderant
This is a disgusting commercial which means you're a disgusting company. I would never in a million years buy your product and 99% of my friends feel the same way. Demographic: Females, 25-35 years old.
Update: Upon submitting this complaint, it appears it's too short to get any attention, so I'll edit it:

if this woman on these Lume commercial proclaims to be a doctor, she is very unprofessional. She also appears to need a shower herself. She looks very unclean and would not let her near me for any medical reason. These commercial are disgusting and degrading and she should be ashamed of herself for assuming all woman smell. I think that maybe she might have the problem since she looks like she needs to bathe. Who bends over and let’s someone smell their butt. What is she a dog that smells butts. And the one she rubs under her own arm pits is sickening. The yoga commercial with her legs spread apart and she sniffs herself is, well there are no words to express that one. For the sake of all of us woman who don’t have the problem that this ignorant woman proclaims, please remove these disgusting ads and tell that woman to take a shower because I believe she is the one with a disgusting problem.
In my opinion after raising three kids girls and boy. That mens [censored] stink after just a few hours after there morning shower. Its a commercial for god sakes
How els are you to learn about new products. If your really concerned about raunchy commercials how about the pilot sitting on the toilet at 2000ft taking a dump and telling everyone his [censored] smells good with scented drops.
Lume
Dr. (claim to be female) is too soupy and deodorant underarm funk stopper is no joke although i've know a man or more that love the smell of a female natural pheromone... But then again. Working in a county hospital (more than once) before and after military.. To have one smell like they've consumed twenty thousand packs of nicotine smokes is offensive.. To laugh and think jokes of offensive hair burning odors within ones' nostril is not funny. I purchased for $11.00 a canister of heritage natural ingredient deodorant and i'm offened that it has no longevity, in fact if it gets to warm/weatherwise, the smell (if I sniff) and I have.. It's not pleasant don't know many men or children that think oh mom/lover.. Smells like we're in the forest after the trees have burnt down! Get real lume... Not a fan until they tell me (the va) that I have underarm cancer from aluminum 99. / free deodorant.. You people make my [censored] itch.. Perhaps lume in my crack will make me not itch asswise? The commercials describing body parts that smell, and the words chosen to describe them are bordering on the obscene. They're also disgusting, and do not take into consideration thst children are watching or that people may be having dinner. They really are disgusting, and the woman in the commercials is OLD ENOUGH to Know Better! Even if I wanted to try them I won't, because I'm not going to reward the company for disgusting behavior.
I agree that the commercials are a bit too much... However, we typically don't watch TV while eating. We do have stinky crevices and need something that really works. I refuse to not try it because of their way of presentation. I'm 62 years old and my body has changed. I'm going to give it a try!
Remove this filth or clean up the manner in which it's addressed.
The commercial talking about stinky crevices and smelly crotches with a woman leading the narrative in the commercial was shocking and disgusting. I was watching Peabody streaming and couldn't believe my ears. This type of commercial pushes the envelope on topics which should be private or as least delicately discussed. This commercial is so IN YOUR FACE. It alsovis insulting to women that we smell in private areas even after showering.
Desired outcome: It's completely dirty and filthy. Maybe the product can be used to clean this filth of a commercial.
Both women are disgusting but the blonde one is the worst, a real pig!
excuse me, but we do smell after a hard day of work. Mow the lawn, you sweat, work in a barn in 90-degree weather you sweat, put on pantyhose, and work in an office all day, you sweat. It is a human fact. Get over it. People, yes women and men sweat in the crotch.
Lume advertisements
Why are we back in the same place - assuming that women's private parts stink and require some kind of chemical cover up? Any legitimate gynecologist will tell women that (unscented) soap and water are sufficient for cleanliness and won't harm the natural PH of a woman's vagina. For the love of god, stop this nonsense and stop advertising it! I'm talking to you, major TV stations!
Desired outcome: Just stop the advertisements and create a product that makes sense.
I laugh when I hear this commercial…
Makes me wonder who are their butt sniffers? How many butts do they have to sniff to justify their claims? Lmao
Please please please remove this commercial. Can't even watch hallmark channel anymore because of it. Enough is enough. So she's board certified...Who cares.
Just another way to make a buck!
I think its crazy that theses complainants are feeling this Lume deodorant is referencing that Women stink so we have to use a product to not smell nasty. I think its crazy that these people think the LUME people are saying womens vaginas stink as well!
Everyone has sweat glands and everyone sweats, unless there is a medical issue I would think.
The Lume deodorant does work as far as controlling body odor. My daughter is into sports and works out all the time. Sweats like a big burly man. And smells like one too! LUME is our savior.
She does not use it anywhere else but her arm pits.
The product simply states that it is safe enough to use everywhere else. That does not mean their saying all women's parts stink.
Why is it that you feel their commercial is stating that?
I think the Lume deodorants, and washes are pretty Damn good and they do a pretty damn good job at helping my daughter not smell like a burly stinky man!
We use it, we’re Happy, there are good things in it. No ones gotten a rash or anything . So I think its worth a try as it does work for us!
Go Lume!
So sick of seeing this ridiculous commercial!
Every woman knows her vagina doesn’t require “deodorant “. If it smells, TAKE A SHOWER!
And you know what’s really pathetic? I sent an email to the company complaining about this very thing — that they were perpetuating the idea that normal, healthy women who maintain appropriate hygiene standards are still smelly and offensive and need to spray themselves with scents that are totally unnatural to be acceptable. I got back this ludicrous response in which the woman who created this garbage tried to defend herself as not being like all the old woman-shaming companies that produced this sort of product but that she was helping women. It would have been laughable had it not been such an offensive snow job.
Lume deodorant
Every evening my husband and I are trying to unwind after a long day. We absolutely hate watching the lumi commercials! I wish someone would do something about it it's disgusting! The images and the contexts are repulsive! Please do something about this it's awful!
So inappropriate! We see it every night around 6:30 pm. Far too early for young children
Desired outcome: Take it off the air!!
You want to remove bad commercials...start with "bent carrot".
My kids are old enough to know what the carrot represents and so now they won't eat carrots or any other phallic shaped vegetable that they use to represent a man's bent penis. Honestly it's about time women get some products made to address her issues. They have spent enough time playing with their dicks.
I think I’m a little late to the party. I see that these commercials have been going on for a few years. I just started seeing them pop up recently and I agree. These commercials are just completely disgusting. They’re not funny at all and they make the woman who’s doing the commercial supposedly a doctor look incredibly stupid. These are no better than the boys commercials they used to have or the pooping commercials. I don’t know why people think it’s funny I am far from a prude they’re just not funny they’re just disgusting and offensive. If you want it to be funny then get somebody who is funny to write them.
My best friend let me smell her Lume deodrant.. I think she had the fruity fragrance. when I smelled it it started out smelling like fruit. Then all of a sudden when I took a smell a second time. It gave off a discussing Foul smell that smelled like unwashed butt. I wouldn't recommend this product at all. It has a horrible smell. The people who made it should be shamed of there self for even promoting this product.
I absolutely agree. These commercials are vulgar, insulting, inappropriate, embarrassing and down right offensive. I certainly believe a woman knows if she is having a problem and she is capable of taking care of it without involving everyone around to participate. Have some class, if you don’t know what that is look it up, and remove this crap from our airwaves!
Agree 100%!
