My members cannot rsvp for events. One member, Christy Malone, just sent me a text saying when she tried to rsvp she had a message from Meetup saying she had to buy a membership for $84.00 a year. She is a dues paying member of my group who is very unhappy! The same occurred for Carol Terrone. Another member said he, too, was not allowed to sign up for...

Meetup is an empty shell. I signed last year to find groups intested in literature, books, tennis, etc. They don't tell you before you have paid that there is NO more groups in Northern VA, which is an accomplishment you have to work hard for because it is a high density population with high income and many singles or people interested in hiking, bicycling, etc...
More importantly, Meetup is engaged in fraudulent practices. They charged me a second time for over $220.00 (for en unexistant service) without any warning and without my authorization for automatic renewal.
I contacted my bank.
WHATS ELSE COULD WE DO PLEASE?
Thx

Meetup earns a trustworthiness rating of 91%
Highly recommended, but caution will not hurt.
We found clear and detailed contact information for Meetup. The company provides a physical address, phone number, and 2 emails, as well as 3 social media accounts. This demonstrates a commitment to customer service and transparency, which is a positive sign for building trust with customers.
A long registered date for meetup.com can be seen as a positive aspect for Meetup as it indicates a commitment to maintaining the website and its domain name for a long period of time. It also suggests that the company is organized and has taken steps to secure its online presence.
The age of Meetup's domain suggests that they have had sufficient time to establish a reputation as a reliable source of information and services. This can provide reassurance to potential customers seeking quality products or services.

We looked up Meetup and found that the website is receiving a high amount of traffic. This could be a sign of a popular and trustworthy website, but it is still important to exercise caution and verify the legitimacy of the site before sharing any personal or financial information
However ComplaintsBoard has detected that:
- While Meetup has a high level of trust, our investigation has revealed that the company's complaint resolution process is inadequate and ineffective. As a result, only 3% of 101 complaints are resolved. The support team may have poor customer service skills, lack of training, or not be well-equipped to handle customer complaints.
- We conducted a search on social media and found several negative reviews related to Meetup. These reviews may indicate issues with the company's products, services, or customer support. Meetup billing after subscription canceled
I had a group owner subscription which was billed for 6 months. I cancelled about 3 months in - done through the app, in September 2023. At 6 months the group went to someone else. The website says the subscription is canceled, but I still got billed over $98 (12/28/2023). Meetup has not responded to emails. Trying to work through my credit card, but it is a hassle.
Claimed loss: $98.94 in fees that I am charged that credit card is giving me a hard time about disputing since it is a subscription.

Meetup
I joined meetup in 2020 there was no membership fee. I joined two groups. After covid hit the groups slowly evaporated. I got very sick with breast and lung cancer and closed my account. I am now back to socializing and reactivated my account and you charged me $64. As I spoke to people at events no one is paying and joining fee at all and I had not previously either. So I tried within to file a complaint but got no where. Then I tried thru my Apple Pay and it came up that it should have been $35 not $64 so tried to reverse the $64 and pay $35 but now out $99 when the people I go to meetups with pay nothing. I would like an explanation and a refund of my $99. Lynn Higgins email [protected]@aol.Com
Claimed loss: $99
Desired outcome: Refund
It is very poor communication on why to activate my account you required a payment. And no way to contact anyone within app.
Taking my renewal fee when I specifically requested it not be
Hi
I contacted meet up several months ago. I decided I did not want to be a member of meetup and discussed with an agent. I adjusted ny account to not renew. The agent at the time confirmed that it would not be renewed and no money would be taken.
Today, when I have no money to spare. The renewal was taken from meetup. I'm disgusted.
It's a huge amount.
I would like it refunded and I would like my account details no longer used.
Please confirm?
Turea blyth
Desired outcome: Full refund. Bank details no longer used.
Group Dues-Happy Hour for Single Seniors
I am being billed again for membership in this group to which I do not belong. I complained last year about exactly the same thing and the charge of $10.00 was reversed. I do not want to be billed again for this membership and I am going to report this to my credit card company for reversal of the $10.00 (Invoice #BEA54A6C-0007). DO NOT BILL ME ANY LONGER FOR THIS MEMBERSHIP!

Desired outcome: Reversal of $10.00 charge & no charges in the future.
Fake profile hijacking group
Someone has used a fake profile (changing their name, photo, gender etc) and has kicked out the host and organisers under false claims of charging for donations. He has posted on the group info that they they left of their own volition (not true) and he's taking over to support the group - but will not be doing anything with it for a few month while everything calms down. This was on 7 July 2023. People who have attempted to talk to him and ask why he's doing this have been blocked and banned from the group, including myself (to confirm I have never organised or charged anyone and only when I asked him to explain his actions did he block me).
This group '20s and 30s walking group' in Manchester, UK, was a welcoming collection of people who could meet go to an event and feel comfortable being themselves. The host built it up over three years creating a local community. Now their hard work has been ruined and it's become a very negative space.
As well as this, a couple of members had met with him before; he was both homophobic and rascist, made most of the attendees very uncomfortable. From his messages, he suggests this is not the first time he's taken over a group with no evidence-based reasons.
I know of a number of people who have lodged complaints about the group and fake profile. I received one meetup notification saying they had sent me a message but there's nothing and noone else has heard anything. I can't find any form of contact number and for the price they charge organisers its appalling.
Any idea of what could be done would be appreciated.
Desired outcome: A response from meetup at the very least. Disabling the fake account and reinstating the group host and organisers who spent 3 years building up it's friendly community
Photo Albums
Every time we put up a monthly photo album for our members for photos not covered by a meetup and they comment on the photos, the comments disappear. I have written to them many, many times in the last 5 months and still, they haven't fixed it. The comments can be instructive, helpful, encouraging and so much more. Imagine you're new to photography and you post a photo waiting for others to comment. You get a message from Meetup giving you a link to your photo because someone commented on it and you eagerly click on it with great excitement and anticipation. And nothing is there... Your complaints back to Meetup just fall into a dark blackhole because they can't even fix their own software.
Desired outcome: FIX IT!!!
Many profile being fake accounts to lure women into giving money, etc.
More and more I have come accros fake accounts trying to lure me into giving them my information through your new messaging options within the app. You should maybe give that option to those whom have had been part in at least one event or more before having anyone and anything join all groups and ruining your reputation. It's becoming rediculous how many fake accounts there are and whom you can actual trust within each group.
Some fake accounts are :
-Travel, Travel group: Joseph (Toronto)
-Philip Wong
-Quartz
Desired outcome: remove them and try to put the option of messaging to those that have at last one event done.
Meet Up Pro Subscription
Guys,
I subscribed for the trial and before billing cycle starts, i kept looking for option to cancel the subscription. everything that was guided under help didnot take me to the right step.
Before the billing starts, twice i had sent an email/message via Contact Billing Support, and surprisingly i did not receive any notification or receipt of that too which can be shown that how i desperately wanted to contact you people and even reached out to either help or just cancel the subscription.
And there then, i am charged the fee on June 8th, 2023.
Can you please tell me why the hell when before the due date somebody seeking your help and even requesting to cancel the subscription, there was no reply with steps or solution.
Desired outcome: Please refund
Group organization
I organize a Meetup group. I received a notice on June 5 that I was receiving an invoice for the next six months of service. I was given no reminder email or prior notice that I would be charged. I quit that same day and attempted to contact customer service but with no response. They don't have a phone number, only an input message mechanism on their website. I have read other reviews stating that they have no customer service. I want to report this shady business practice in the hopes that I can get a refund for the next six months which I won't be using.
Desired outcome: I want to report this shady business practice in the hopes that I can get a refund of $106.95 for the next six months which I can't use because I quit the service.
Meetup group for Critiquery for writers with Jared help as online event chat.
I have been trying to get into this group Critiquery for writers. I've been accepted as an attendee. The message is "You're going" I have never ever seen such a problem as this. For days now I have tried to get online at the exact meetup time. It just doesn't happen. Event chat doesn't work. I understand that it's on zoom but there is no place on the entire page to get on zoom other than the online chat phrase. Which gets me nowhere. I've messaged several people including the host "Jared" and no one not one single person has ha the decency to respond. I am furious. ! I want help please.
Desired outcome: I want to get into the group. I've sent several messages on several pages. Again, I am listed as an attendee for the 7 oclock group of the critiquery with Jared. How do I do that?
Meetup insurance id scam
After meeting an individual going by the name Liza Thinson on a dating site she pressured me to get an meetup insurance Id. She contacted the provider company and they sent me info on aquiring this so called ID.
I was then directed to send $375 via paypal to a Jayson Hortilano using the friends and family feature. Reluctantly after reasearching known scams for this I sent the payment via Paypal..only to receive another request for an additional $475 for the final process, being reasured by a so called site administrator under the name of Ms.Franchesca Tyler, that I would recieve a full refund in hrs of process completion. At this point I put the brakes on...
Liza contacted me and tried to reassure this was legit and even offered to help with the payment if needed..this raised a wall of red flags now.
I immediatly put in a stop payment request to the bank on the transfer of funds to Paypal..seems to have stopped that transfer..but according to paypal the money was sent or was in transit..
both of the ladies involved sent me volumes of messages trying to convince me to go through with the process claiming it was legit.
Desired outcome: ensure my money is fully refunded, paypal does not allow dispute to be opened under the "friends and family" transfer process...totally wrong and seems scammers are abusing this loophole
Overcharged organizer fee & closing my account less than 1.5 months of use
This is my fourth time reaching out to about the dispute request I have made since, 2/27/2023 and again today, 5/10/203. So far, no one has reached out to me to discuss about it. I demand an immediate response.
I want a full refund request from Meetup Co. which your organization has closed my account only after less than 2 months of my use as an organizer and Meetup Co has Double CHARGED ME on (overcharged) organizer fee at $126 and $231.01.
I am now very upset for this unfair business practice conducted by Meetup Company.
I was double charged recently twice for 6 months organizer fee. I want a refund for the double charge. I made the 6-month organizer fee of $126.00 on 2/27/2023 to 8/26/2023. Meet up charged another 6 months fee on 3/28/2023 of $231.01 including 3 groups X $30.00 each. This is an unfair fee practice by meet up as in why you charged me for another 6 months when I already paid on 2/27/2023. I want my first payment refunded to me based on the payment of $126.00 I made on 2/27/2023 back or from 3/28/2023.
Please have one of your representatives to contact me about the dispute I am submitting to resolve as soon as possible. Otherwise, I will use my American Express company to refund my payment.
Best,
Regina S Yoo

Desired outcome: A full refund back from Meetup company's ill business practices.
In the past 2 weeks I have received complaints from 3 people who have joined my group, but I am not receiving notices from Meetup
I have been a Meetup organizer paying dues of $200/yr for the past 13 years. As of this writing I have 5,048 members and 1,949 5 star reviews.
Meetup support sucks and is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with, very poorly managed, and the Meetup.com platform has bugs as far back as I can remember. I have complained at least monthly for years.
In the past 2 weeks I have received complaints from three people who have joined my group, but I am not receiving notices from Meetup of said members request to join, so that I am unable to accept said requests to join my group. It is my policy to require interested parties to be accepted by me before they are able to become official members of my Meetup groups. If there are 3 people who have joined but not received by me to be accepted, I can only assume there are others. These three have notified me personally. It has been at least 2 weeks since these members asked to join and be accepted.
Before and since these three people have notified my of their completed registration, several have joined and been accepted by me. However, these three have not been received by me. I do not accept nonmembers to attend my hiking and kayaking events due to the inherent risks for safety purposes. However, since these three people notified me directly that they joined, I had no choice to make an exception, since the problem is with Meetup, not the members who join.
If I stop paying dues, Meetup shuts me down. The only leverage I have is to complain to Meetup support and post negative online reviews.
Desired outcome: Real time receipt of messages from members and potential members, not delays of hours or days or never.
Meetup overcharged my organizer fee of 6 months by 2 times (double charged)
I was double charged recently twice for 6 months organizer fee. I want a refund for the double charge. I made the 6 month organizer fee of $126.00 on 2/27/2023 to 8/26/2023. Meet up charged another 6 months fee on 3/28/2023 of $231.01 including 3 groups X $30.00 each. Announcements of meetup
Hello,
I just started a meetup group. It is based in Evanston, IL and called Middle aged women's book club. I have had organized events before and always get lots of people who sign up right away, but this time I am getting no one. I am wondering if it is because of the new way meetups are announced. It used to be I would get an e-mail saying a new meetup group that has some of my interest has been created and I see it in the e-mail. Now I am getting an e-mail that say "Your new group is waiting for you". I was just ignoring it because I wasn't in any new groups, so I didn't think it was anything important. Now I see, that it was an announcement for a new meetup group that was created. If I ignored these messages, then maybe other people are as well and that is why I am getting no one to sign up. Well, it is too late now. So I was wondering if I could get a refund. I paid for a six month membership, so I would be willing to pay for the one month price, but I would like to get a refund for the rest. My e-mail is [protected]@gmail.com Thank you, Valerie Urow
Desired outcome: refund of membership fee
Double billing my organization
PPP Investment Club. Been with you for years. High Point NC.
We are trying to change organizers from me, Sidney Reid, to Mike Sprague. You have billed us both. I am denying my $65.94 charge as I am no longer organizer. You also billed Mike for even more than that. That is double billing. Please refund my money and charge Michael the correct amount.
Desired outcome: refund
Account removed with no reason
On the night of the 3rd February I was unable to log into my account through Facebook for some times. When I managed to, I found that my account disappeared and I had to create a new one. I rejoined most of the groups I was member of, but I had to contact the organisers to explain what happened. On Sunday 5th February, I lost again access to my account, both through Facebook and my email. I contacted Meetup by email and on social media multiple times, but they never replied. I'm still waiting for their Trust and Safety team to contact me, and they don't reply to my emails.
Desired outcome: Please restore my account, the first one
